Felix hadn't planned ahead much. He probably should've. Because now he was just standing in the empty lavatory, with a couple papers he hadn't put away yet, a small container of hair dye, a bleaching kit, and no idea what to do with absolutely any of it (including the homework).
This was probably a dumb decision, but hey, why not? Dumb decisions are the spice of life.
Plus, he was skipping class, so he couldn't really go back back now. Better to just not show up than to show up late. He didn't usually skip (didn't have any reason too, honestly. He broke curfew more often than he skipped class), but this seemed like an adequate reason, to him, do break that usual rule. Meant there was less chance of someone random walking in, and more time to deliberate. And even if he didn't do the dye, he at least got to miss out on one class. That was fun in itself.
The location was definitely not the fun fun part. He wrinkled his nose at the smell. Despite how clean the house elves tried to keep it, the smell seemed to linger anyway. Bleh.
In hindsight, Felix also should have checked what colour dye he'd grabbed, but hey, he was in a rush. He didn't really bother to browse. He'd just grabbed the first one on the shelf, and now he was stuck with bright red. Like, not just bright, but full-on fire engine level red. While it would definitely not be his first choice, wasn't too bad, right? Aside from the supposed staining and the fact that it was the Gryffindor house colour, it wasn't that terrible of an option. It could have been worse. Could've been yellow, or pink or something.
Besides, he needed to bleach it either way, and that was his main concern right now. Hair dye you could mess around with pretty easily, zero consequence (well, maybe some, but not that bad). Bleach? Maybe not so much. It was questionable.
There was probably some way of magically dying your hair, to avoid all the hassle of box dye. He should check that out some time. It could be useful for the next time.
But, at the moment, Felix knew even less about that than he knew about regular hair dye (which was absolutely nothing), so that wasn't a topic for today.
Felix had researched over the break, he wasn't going into this completely clueless, but apparently he had not researched enough, because it was still just as confusing as it had been before that. The instructions on the back of the box were helpful, but only to a certain extent.
Originally, he'd planned on cutting his hair first once he got back from the break, but then he'd thought about it, and decided that, really, it would probably be easier to dye it if he didn't cut it shorter beforehand. Easier to pin it back and section it, at least. Felix would still cut it later, that wasn't going to change. He just wanted to try this first.
He tossed a coin between his hands and did another check that there was no one else in the room, mostly to stall. He wasn't usually the one to doubt his semi-impulsive decisions, but this was an exceptional situation.
He just decided to go for it, opening the bleaching kit and locating the things he needed to (apparently) mix.

"Crap, where is the bathroom?!" I muttered to myself under my breath. I looked down at my potion-stained robes after some idiot had knocked over their cauldron right into me, and of course, it was the day when we were making Invigoration Draught, an orange and blue potion. I continued to curse under my breath until I went to the nearest bathroom, too angry to notice if it was the men's or women's bathroom, only focused on finding somewhere to wash off my robes.
As I entered the bathroom, I continued cursing under my breath, not yet noticing the boy who was in the middle of dying his hair until I turned the corner, pausing for a moment. "...Are you dyeing your hair?" I spoke as my eyes crinkled with curiosity and confusion. My eyes darted to the bottle of hair dye, "Red?" I raised an eyebrow skeptically, "Bold choice for a Slytherin, don't you think?" My tone was still slightly annoyed, but slightly relaxed that I now had something to focus on rather than my own orange and blue-stained clothes.
I suddenly remembered what I had entered the bathroom to do, the fact that I was in the men's bathroom still not fully registering to me, thanks to my anger-clouded judgement. I began walking over to the nearest sink, a few sinks apart from him, and took off my robe and began running hot water over it, cursing quietly when I saw the orange and blue barely leaving. "People are so inconsiderate nowadays, don't you think?" she scoffed to the hair-dyeing boy a few sinks away from her, "I mean, come on, it's not that hard to not knock over a cauldron!" she exclaimed angrily as she continued trying to scrub the color out of her robes, her eyes locked on the sink and her stained robe.

Felix just stared at the girl for a moment. "Uh... yeah? I mean, obviously." currently attempting to section off his hair more neatly, he paused what he was doing to give her an appraising look. He was pretty sure this was the wrong bathroom for her, but, who knows. He decided to leave it alone (for now). She seemed more focused on her robes anyway.
In response to her complaint, he just nodded along, "Yes, yes, very inconsiderate", before adding in "Maybe they should make better cauldron-stabilizers though? I mean, it's a school. They shouldn't make it so easy for folks to just tip over a—potentially dangerous—liquid." he shrugged. The potions professor was pretty good at laying down the ground safety rules and such, but there was still some technical lacking in the equipment itself, if it were truly able to just tip over like she had said.
He leaned over to watch what the girl was doing. Cold water was better for stains. Hot water just helped set them in, and then you were stuck with weirdly-shaped marks on your clothes for all of the foreseeable future. Felix had learnt that lesson the hard way.
Although, he wasn't sure if potions, being all magicky and all, would react the same way to temperature. They probably would, since it was more an issue of the material (he thought).
He decided to just let her keep doing what she was doing. If she didn't know the thing about hot water, provided it did actually apply to potions spills too, that was her own problem. Plus, it was kinda fun to watch her struggle with it.
Felix went back to his hair, now attempting to brush on the bleach mixture. It was harder than he'd thought, but with the aid of a mirror, he managed it okay.

"I guess, but these bloody kids can't seem to follow instructions without being clumsy somehow." she grumbled when he made a fair point about the cauldron stabilizers, glancing back at him for a moment.
"So... red?" I raise an eyebrow, wondering why he would choose that color, being a Slytherin and all. "Do you dye your hair a lot?" she questioned, trying to make the atmosphere less awkward than she had made it as she started to scrub her robes harder, her annoyance slightly growing at the stains.
"Ugh! Why aren't these bloody stains coming off?!" She groaned angrily as her scrubbing became more desperate, still doing nothing to help the orange and blue stains. She turned up the water's heat, hoping it would help, only to find that the stains weren't budging.
She sighs, exasperated, "If you're dyeing your hair, you should know how to get stains out of clothes, right?" she grumbled to him, annoyed at the unfortunate robe situation and having to look to someone else for the answer since she was used to always being able to help herself. She looked up at him, finally glancing away from her robe as she crossed her arms and tapped her foot impatiently as she waited for a reply, slightly embarrassed that she had to ask for help over something so silly, and slightly angry that she couldn't find the answer herself.

"That's true. No matter how safe it is, some idiot will probably still manage to break something." Felix didn't remember there being too many incidents in his own class, but he'd heard of them happening quite often.
"I just picked red because it was the first one on the shelf. I didn't have enough time to be all picky-choosy. And nah, I've only dyed it a couple of times before, so not that often" actually, he'd ever done this before. But she didn't need to know that he didn't know what he was doing.
The girl seemed to be getting impatient, tapping her foot and half-mumbling. He almost laughed, but decided against it, because she already seemed grumpy enough. "I dunno. If it's like, a sauce sorta thing, maybe try washing it with cold first? You'll get it out eventually either way, so it doesn't really matter" maybe there's be a slightly different tint in places, but it would probably be almost unnoticeable, even if it did stain.
"It is a black robe. It's not like they'll show up super bright on it later, once it's dried. Besides," he pointed at a couple speckles on the sleeve on his own robe, "plenty of people have weird marks on their robes. It's kind of unavoidable, and the uniform rules aren't particularly strict".
He only fought with stains if they were very dark, on his dressy clothes, or in a particularly unfortunate placement. Otherwise? He left them be. It was like... a symbiotic relationship. Kinda. It was a thing. Really, he mostly just had grass stains or (rarely) blood stains (either from scraped knees or the roadkill he'd picked up) off his clothes, not much variety there.

"AAAH, WRONG BATHROOM!" Rosalyn shouted as she walked into what she thought was the girls' lavatory. Apparently, she was very, very wrong. Oh, the smell, that's absolutely disgusting. How do the boys put up with that? She caught a glimpse of a urinal and freaked out, almost toppling over.
"I'm so so sorry, I'm leaving, I'm leaving!" she said, covering her eyes and slowly backing out.
"OW!" she said, accidentally crashing into the corner of what she was hoping was the door, but wasn't quite sure.
"Is anyone currently using the loo or no?" she asked, really hopeful that she hadn't walked in on someone peeing. That would really stink. She decided that she wouldn't be able to make it out with her eyes closed, she would probably just fall over and injure herself. Darn her clumsiness!
She could hear some talking and some running water, almost as if someone was scrubbing at something. She heard a girl's voice and paused. Wait, was this not the boys' bathroom? Hold on, what's going on here?
She slowly opened up her eyes, hoping that she saw nothing she didn't want to see, which was practically everything that could be seen in the boys' lavatory.
Luckily, all she saw was a girl washing out a robe that appeared to have some sort of stain on it. Perhaps from a potion, or maybe from some food? She wasn't sure. She also saw...
"Oh, Felix, thank goodness. I'm so so sorry, I really did not mean to walk in here...are you dying your hair?" she asked, seeing the box of red dye on the counter.
She had been wanting to dye her hair for a while at that point, but knew that her parents would kill her if she came home with it any color other than her natural dirty blond. She was waiting until after the holiday break, and it was after the holiday break, so perhaps she would dye it soon. She was thinking pink, maybe, just on a bit of it, not all. She liked her hair color, but wanted to add something to spice it up a bit.
"Is this your first time dying your hair?" she asked Felix, not to be rude. Rosalyn had done enough research on the process on her computer at home secretly over the break to know exactly how to do it, and she was just curious if Felix had done it before or not, because what he was doing didn't look quite the same...

She paused thoughtfully, considering the boy's words before shrugging, "Yeah, I guess that would make sense." she mumbled, quickly turning the water to a colder temperature. She began scrubbing her robe under the cold tap water, the blue and orange now staining the water instead of her robe. Her eyes widened slightly "Oh, it's actually working.." she said in surprise before turning to the boy with a small smile.
"Thanks." she insisted, giving him a small nod. She stares at the boy for a moment before turning back to scrubbing her robe, "And the red doesn't look bad, by the way, it actually kinda suits you." She speaks almost quietly, slightly embarrassed about giving compliments. As the boy shows her his own shirt, she smiles faintly, happy that her stains are being embraced and not judged.
As she opens her mouth to speak, she hears the screech and bang from behind the corner and turns her head to where it came from, finding another Slytherin girl standing there who seems to know the boy. Valencia raises her eyebrow curiously, "Who is this girl?" she thought to herself, studying the seemingly clumsy girl. "No one's using the loo right now." she responded casually, looking back to her robes after giving the boy a quick, curious glance.

Well, the girl seemed a bit more chill now. "No problem. And thanks, I guess" he held out his hand for a first bump, but she was a bit of a ways away.
He just noticed had some ink on his hands. Dry, at least. Probably just picked them up in his last class. He'd been disassembling his pen a bit, and may have broken the little ink-tube thingy.
When he heard the crash, he glanced over at the door. Hey, look who it is!
"hah, are the signs out or something? Hiya Rosalyn!" well, if Felix had thought there wouldn't be that many people in here, he'd be wrong. Funny how both of them managed to walk into the wrong bathroom, though. And it was pretty freaking hilarious when Rosalyn panicked. Fair response, he supposed. Still a tad dramatic, maybe, but funny nonetheless.
He shrugged at her question, "Yeah, it's kinda my first time. I think I've got it figured out though. Maybe. Whatcha you up to? Any drama?" Felix mainly addressed the question to Rosalyn, since he figured the other girl had just had an accident in charms and gone to the closest loo to wash out the mess, without really caring where she ended up. Rosalyn... he wasn't so sure what she was doing here.
Felix left it open for the other girl to say something too, though, if she wanted to. He was still holding out his arm for a fist bump anyways.

"Rosalyn" She thought as she quickly made a mental note as she looked back at the girl and then back to the boy, " and Felix" she concluded, making note of their names in her head not to forget them. When she looked back at Felix, she noticed his fist being held out for a fist bump- causing her to crack a small smile. Valencia stepped closer to the boy named Felix, since he was a few feet away. Her fist balled up, and she gave him a gentle fist bump, causing her to laugh slightly, "I haven't fist-bumped someone since middle school." She laughed, finding the small action quite familiar- but different.
After fist-bumping the boy, she nodded, "Yeah, no problem, though I might have to borrow some dye sometime if you have any pink." a small smile spread on her face as she thought about giving her a peekaboo of pink hair and getting to see Felix and this clumsy girl again- she actually wouldn't mind it.
As she looked back at her hands when she went to continue scrubbing her robes, she noticed a small hint of blue on her knuckles, barely noticeable, but still there. Her eyebrows furrow, "Where'd this come from?" She had asked herself before shrugging it off and continuing to wash her robe, her eyes slightly averted towards the clumsy girl as she waited for her to respond.

"Oh, thank goodness." Rosalyn said, once the other girl that was also in there said that nobody was using the loo. That would have been very, very awkward to walk in on.
"It looks good, the color suits you!" Rosalyn said, looking at the color compared to his skin tone. The red worked pretty good with it, and there was no judgement from Rosalyn on the dyeing in the school bathroom. Better than in the dorm and getting everything stained! One time, Rosalyn was making a potion in her dorm and ended up looking away for a second. One of the plants from her shelf had a leaf fall off and directly into the cauldron. The potion exploded and everything turned purple within the splatter radius. It was...interesting. She got everything cleaned up, luckily, but it was a pretty big mess!
Anyways, regardless of the exact method Felix was using to dye his hair, as long as it ended up with some color on it, everything would be okay!
"What am I doing here? Good question, hold on..." she said, trying to remember why she even wandered to the Lavatory. The fear of walking into the wrong one sort of scared the memory out of her for a second!
"Oh! I remember! I had been walking around the castle because class was over and I got a bit lost on my way to the Trophy Room. The last time I was there I sort of got a detention, so I wanted to see it during the day...anyways, I ended up in this part of the castle and decided to use the loo before exploring, then yeah, this happened!" she said, finally remembering.
"Pink? Oh my goodness I love pink! I was actually thinking about dyeing my hair pink too, isn't that crazy! Just the tips, but still!" she said after hearing the girl speak, surprised that the girl also wanted to dye her hair pink. What were the chances?
"Anyways, I'm Rosie! Well, Rosalyn, but nobody really calls me that. What's your name?" she asked, holding her hand out to shake half-jokingly in an overexaggerated way.
