The waters of the Great Lake shimmered under the golden hues of the late afternoon sun, a soft breeze rippling across its surface. A grand picnic had been set up near the shore—a white a sage green checkered blanket about 7th feet, enough room to fit as many people who may come since she sent out invitations to every house and school she knows. The blanket was covered in different sweets and foods, and different drinks, such as pumpkin juices

Andronica James stood at the edge of the lake looking at the water she sighed and looked around, silently waiting for others to come, or even if they would. She sat on her knees by the blanket grabbing a lollipop and taking a lick and smiling softly, the water was nice and pretty today, plus it wasn't as cold as usual and the lake wasn't frozen over today. So perfect, like her birthday always had been and should be. 

Ann wondered to herself if anyone would come, but if they didn't, more food for her and more time to herself in the water, though Hogwarts is highly different for her home its not some lavish party with many guest from Russia, Korean and Ireland, this was small with a few people, hopefully it would be as fun as they ones shes used to having back home.

she loved water, that's why she chose to have it at the great lake, plus she loved the trees the sound of birds chirping, the soft sounds of people talking in the distance, it was....peaceful

" How beautiful..." her cheeks raised as she smiled, genuine, the water and nature made her happy.

she stood up walking back to the water now, sitting on her knees again and twirling her finger in the water, with a content sigh, she heard footsteps coming and wasn't able to tell if it was one person or not but she just stayed where she was, silently she waited to see if it was someone who was coming to the party or just someone passing.

✽		 When Avery had gotten the invitation for a birthday party at the Great Lake, she couldn't pass it up. Even though she didn't know the girl, she was always open and ready to make a new friend. Plus, birthday parties were a lot of fun. There were always fun games and amazing snack to have while hanging out with your friends.

Avery approached the Great Lake and saw a girl, presumably the birthday girl, standing at the edge of the lake and enjoying the view of the beautiful water. Avery agreed with her on that. The light sun shined beautifully on the calm surface.

"Hi. Are you the one that sent the invitations for the party?" Avery asked. Hoping that she wasn't being rude or startling the girl. Avery would feel bad if that happened.

Avery walked over to view the beautiful lake. Remembering that she had a band competition after the party ended. She was both excited and nervous. She wasn't used to playing the saxophone for competition, so she wondered how she would fare. Would she choke up and quit playing? Or would she go with the flow and make it her best performance yet? Avery didn't know, but she was excited to find out.

While she was normally pretty shy, Kaitlyn couldn’t shake the fact that she liked parties. Even if it was just an excuse for her to wear a pretty dress. This invitation she received was unique, however. It was by the lake, one of her favorite spots at Hogwarts. She loved the water and loved nature! It was likely no surprise that her favorite class at Hogwarts was Herbology, after all. When she didn’t have class, she often enjoyed visiting the Greenhouse to tend to the plants … at least the ones she was allowed to so far. Being a second year, there were sadly not many that she was allowed to approach.

It came as no surprise for young Kaitlyn to skip toward the lake carrying a small box. As her etiquette lessons taught her, she would have felt funny attending and not bringing anything. Inside the box, she gifted a silver bracelet with a few cute charms on it.

Upon arrival at the lake, the shy Slytherin smiled as she saw two girls already there for the picnic. Her blue eyes glanced at the surface of the lake, happy that she chose to wear a swimsuit under her clothes. ‘Perhaps I’ll be able to take a dip in the lake at some point,’ she thought, hopeful at that thought. She took a deep breath in, steeling herself for the social interaction that was about to happen.

“Hi,” Kaitlyn greeted the girls shyly. “It’s a nice day for a picnic. Um, I brought a little gift … Is there a spot for me to place it?” She asked, unaware of which girl’s birthday it was. Regardless, she wanted to try to be friendly.

Andronica was at the edge of the great lake , sitting on her knees , minding her own business as she waited for the people she invited to come , I mean she was Turing twelve ? Exciting day , her first birthday at  Hogwarts , she fixed her hair slightly as she heard footsteps walk up behind her along with a voice , she stood up and looked at the water for a while as the girl spoke , when she said birthday her head immediately whipped around to look at the girl , someone actually came ? She smiled happily and nodded " Ah yes it is !! I'm glad you came " she said with joy " I didn't think anyone would actually come to it , so I'm really excited ! " she said that part a little faster than intended she walked up to the girl and bowed her head slightly , something she picked up from her mother " I'm andronica ! Andronica James. " that was good right ? She didn't seem to overly happy right , hopefully she didn't. 

Before she could speak anything else to further embarrass herself , another girl walked up this one she had seen around the common room but didn't know her name , well hey ! At least its another from her house right ? , Andronica nodded as the other girl responded also " Hello ! Yes it is a wonderful day , isn't it ? " she looked at the box in the girls hand than up as she spoke " oh! you can just sit it on the blanket ! " she tilted her head over to the picnic blanket with pastries , drinks and food on it , she glaced back at to girls " Oh ! You may eat or take a dip in the lake if you'd like ! " she said with another big smile

✽		 Avery smiled. She was glad that she had made it to the right place. Glancing around at the other two girls, Avery felt a bit out of place. Since it was only March, she hadn't thought about bringing her swimsuit. All she had was a pair of blue jeans and a red sweatshirt. Typical items of clothing for her to wear when she didn't have to wear her robes.

"Sorry that I didn't wear a swimsuit. I didn't even realize that swimming was part of the party." Avery laughed lightly. She wasn't surprised that she hadn't realized. A lot had been on her mind lately, and she could barely focus on important things. She had to stay focused, but she couldn't shake off the feeling that there was more hardship to come.

Avery shook away the feeling of dread creeping in on her. She needed to have fun and get her mind off of everything. She didn't want to ruin the girl's birthday because she was having a rough time at home. Now was the time for her to put on a brave face and enjoy the party. The girl deserved a good birthday. Especially since she had to spend it at Hogwarts.

Kaitlyn smiled at the girl, presumably the birthday girl. She set her present on the blanket at the indicated location. “Thank you. Oh, before I forget … Hi, I’m Kaitlyn Connor,” she greeted her with a smile. After all, she wanted to make sure the girl knew who she was. “Yes, please, I’d love to,” she giggled. She enjoyed swimming, despite the fact that it was only March. It would still be a fun experience!

“Hi, Avery,” Kaitlyn smiled at the Gryffindor girl. “No worries, as I’m sure there is still plenty of fun to be had,” she replied. Sitting down for a moment, she quickly changed out of her cover-up dress and cardigan, and slipped her feet out of her sandals. Her one-piece swimsuit from underneath was on full display now. She folded her dress and left it on the side for now, along with her sandals.

Creeping over to the water’s edge, Kaitlyn dipped one toe in the water at first. “Well, only really one way to tell how the water is …” she trailed off with a giggle. After giving both girls a smile, she jumped into the lake. Her body hit the water’s surface, and she submerged at first. After a few moments, she treaded water and her head emerged from the surface. “Surprisingly, it isn’t that bad … a little cool, but nothing I can’t handle,” she giggled.

Graci was out on a walk on March first's crisp afternoon. It was a good way to clear her mind. The common room was a bit too rowdy for deep thinking. Don't get her wrong, she loved her house mates, but they weren't necessarily the quiet bunch.

She loved the breeze here, and the cool grass tickling her now bare feet since she took off her converse. Her hair was slightly whipping her face, so she took her red hair tie off her wrist and put her hair into a bun.

What to do, what to do. Owl mum and dad for the thousandth time, try to find Zoe for the hundreth time, go find someone I know, go join that random group of girls by the lake.... Wait, what?

Graci zoned back in and looked at the girls, a few yards away. There were three of them, and two seemed to be going swimming.

Ever the chatty, Graci decided to go over to them, say hi, and see what the occasion was. So she picked up the pace a little bit, ending her lonely walk.

"Hello, what's the special occasion?" Graci called.

She was almost disappointed she didn't bring her swim suit, but then again, why would she? Her only plans were going for a walk. Welp, not anymore, it's probably too cold anyhow.

She giggled slightly at the sight of the other girl , Kaitlyn jumping in the water than spoke after she did " ooo ! I might have to jump in a second " , she looked back at Avery and raised a eyebrow , and nodded " Ah ! Its alright , I'm usually prepared for this , there's a box over by the blanket with a bunch of swimsuits in different colors and sizes ! If you want to take one and change ! " she smiled brightly , putting her hands on her hips as if proud , she fixed her hair a bit as a bit of wind had blown it into her face , she quickly ended up putting it up in a little ponytail in the back than turned her head , once someone else spoke.

This girl must have not gotten and invitation since she had asked , what was going on here so andronica kept her smile and gave a polite bow , and spoke " Its my birthday , today ! " , she lowered her hands from her hips finally , with a little paused after her response to the new girl ," Theres snacks , drinks and such ! Also a box with swimsuits if you want a dip in the lake ! " she said happily in her high pitched voice , she moved her hands to hold them Infront of her than continued " I would've picked somewhere else but the lake looked so nice and I love water so , that's why were here ! " , she moved over to the blanket to pick up a tart and take a bite , she had taken these from honeydukes earlier but no one would notice right? Its good to be sneaky one in a while , she sighed " Well I guess I should--" she took of her over top and walked to the lake and smile " ---- Take a dip ! " she jumped in the water , splashing Kaitlyn a bit as she did

✽		 Avery smiled and laughed as the other girls splashed around in the water. For the time being, she would probably stay on shore because the air was still a little too chilly for her to want to join in the activities happening in the water. Though, she did like that if she wished, she could change into one of the swimsuits the birthday girl had brought. That would make things a lot easier and a lot less complicated.

"I'll stay on the shore for now since it's still a little too chilly for me, but you guys have fun in the water!" Avery said with a smile. She was really enjoying herself today. Even if she was still a little nervous about her very first band competition being that day. She really needed a break from all the crazy things happening in her life, so a birthday party? Perfect!

"Hiya! Nice to meet you!" Avery said as she waved who she thought was a Gryffindor just like her. She remembered seeing the other girl around before most likely either in class or the common room. Though, she didn't know exactly.

She smiled and closed her eyes and she titled her face towards the winter sun. As she let the rays caress her face, she felt a sense of peace and happiness wash over her. Something that she hadn't felt in awhile.

“Take your time!” The young girl twisted her body with ease, and Kaitlyn began to swim on the water’s surface with a backstroke. She didn’t know too many swimming techniques, but that wouldn’t deter her. Holding her breath, she sank into the water, swimming around underwater for a little bit, before coming back up for air.

By the time she emerged and took in a deep breath, Kaitlyn saw another girl come over to the group at the lake. “Hi!” she greeted the new girl enthusiastically, waving from the water. Drops of water flew around her actions, reaching near the shore.

Shortly after the girl’s arrival, Ann came to join Kaitlyn in the lake. But when Ann jumped into the water, Kaitlyn was splashed with water. Giggling, she splashed some water back at Ann playfully. She didn’t quite care if she got extra wet from the water, but there was no way she was going to let herself get splashed, overwise! Besides, what good use was it to jump into the water if she refused to have fun? That wouldn’t do, especially for the young teenager.

Kaitlyn looked at Avery and smiled at her, nodding. “That’s ok, no pressure!” She beamed at the Gryffindor. As much as she liked to encourage those whom she knew to join, she wasn’t the type to pressure anyone. That wasn’t her style, and certainly not something she wished to start doing, either! With another giggle, she started to backstroke again over the water, smiling up at the sky. Her eyes immediately began analyzing the clouds overhead. So many awesome shapes!
