Long Time No See
It's been a long day already. Holly had classes, even though she didn't mind the class, professor, or students. It's just stressful when you start school. Even if it's her second year, she already knows that this kind of stress will come back every year. The best proof wasn't just her experience or the stories she got from her parents when they went to school. No the best roof of all was her brother.
Anyway. Yesterday, she saw a familiar one sitting under the talking hat among the new faces. However, she was not put in Slytherin. That girl was in Hufflepuff. Sadly. But she was happy for her anyway. Unfortunately, she had lost sight of her best friend after that and hadn't seen her today.
Holly hopes Abbey wasn't lost like she was in her first year. She stuck to her brother's coat like glue, just so she wouldn't get lost. This was sometimes not ideal when her brother wanted to carry out one of his pranks and she was the only guinea pig available. That was no fun.
But then she got an idea, maybe she should ask Cynthia and Julian where Abbey was. Why didn't she think of this before? With that in mind, she was about to walk through the corridor when she noticed a face. So... Well. The problem solved itself. Hurray!
"Hi hello Abbey!", She greeted her cheerfully.

Long Time No See
Abbey was on her way to one of her first classes of the school year. Beginning her journey at Hogwarts was harder than she had expected because she somehow had to get used to going to school all over again. It was nothing like her muggle school in Liverpool, and that was something she struggled a bit with. Classes were further away from each other and it was a lot more people. She also had to live at her school! It was something she both liked and found very difficult. Even though she had only spent one night here… All the people overwhelmed her from time to time and now that she was walking to class down the long and wide corridor she could feel that she just needed a few minutes alone or with someone she knew. She needed it to sink in, because it was all still very new to her.
While she was walking with the crowd of people she suddenly spotted a familiar face that she felt like she hadn’t seen in ages. The voice of the second year was also familiar. "Hi hello Abbey!" It was Holly! Holly Adams! Her best friend since literally forever! Abbey ran over to her with a wide smile on her face. "Holly! Hey! How are you?"

"Oh, well, thanks, I'm great since I finally found you. And you? Have you settled in?", if she somehow decides to smirk even more you can be sure that the corners of her mouth will rip, but she can't help it. She is so overjoyed to have her best friend here in Hogwarts.
When Abbey approached her, however, she noticed how overwhelmed Abbey was. After which her grin disappeared and her face became worried. "Hey, is everything okay? Do you need a moment? Do I have to kick somebody's butt?" Holly, by all means, was not a violent person. Everyone who knew her at least a little bit, would know, that she most likely meant to tell her brother about it and he would kick the butts. And that means he would only play nasty pranks on that person.
But when she thought back, just one year ago, she also was totally overwhelmed. And there was one thing that always helped. She opened her arms and asked, "Need a hug?", sure, not everyone was a hugger, but that consolation helped her, so why wouldn't she offer it to Abbey, too?
And yes, she knew she had to be in class soon, but for her best friend, she just took the time to be there for her.

Abbey could see that Holly looked a bit worried when she saw that she looked a bit overwhelmed and tired. It wasn’t something she had to worry about, so Abbey told her straight away right after Holly had asked if she was okay. Her wide smile formed into a more soft and warm one as she spoke, "Im fine, I promise. It all just so different here in the wizard world and at Hogwarts. It’s a bit overwhelming from time to time." she admitted, knowing her best friend most likely would understand. She was sure Holly wouldn’t laugh at her admitting she found Hogwarts overwhelming!
When Holly asked if Abbey would like a hug, it didn’t take long before the girl leaned in to hug her best friend. Abbey didn’t like hugging just anyone, but her family and friends wasn’t a problem at all.
Abbey also had to be in class, but this was the first time she had seen Holly at Hogwarts so she wasn’t planning on leaving after just a few minutes. Class could wait in her opinion. It didn’t matter if she was a bit late if that meant she had a nice conversation with her best friend first.

Holly did understand her, "My first day at Hogwarts was a real roller coaster, too." she could relate to Abbey and would never laugh at her. Because if it's been overwhelming for her, as a pureblood, what must it be like for someone who's never really been in the wizarding world? Holly, of course, knew little about the world of the Muggles. It was only from the stories of the Thompson family that she had a little idea. But what her imagination produced in terms of images from those stories was far from reality. In other words: You do not want to know how she thinks Television works.
Anyway, in short, she tries to fully understand and show empathy for Abbey's feelings and situation, and yes she can relate to it to some extent, thank you very much.
If she could, she'd hug away all Abbey's worries, but she knew that was impossible, and she didn't know any spell or potion that would help. So she did what she did best in this situation, and what she thought would actually help her: That was to be there for her friend.
"By the way, do you know, where your next class is?", In her first year, especially at the beginning, she remembers that she had some orientation problems. So she hoped it wasn't too bad for Abbey now. She wanted to help her in a way, she wished someone would have helped her back then.
She'd also like to ask Abbey if she'd like to do something together soon, but she'd ask that question only after she's taken care of Abbey's well-being. After all, health and happiness was paramount. Next to chocolate pudding, of course.

Abbey had tried her best to memorise her time schedule for the day, but had completely failed to do so. Therefore she had decided to just walk around with a little note in her robes left pocket. On that little piece of paper she had written all her classes for the day, where in the castle they were, when they were and what the teacher of every class was. She knew she most likely had to prepare herself a bit extra for some of the teachers classes because she knew some of them were a lot stricter and more serious than others. She really didn’t want to get yelled at or anything on her second day here. In the worst scenario lose house points! That would be a complete nightmare, if you asked her.
Abbey reached for the note in her pocket and studied it. The problem was the size of the note and writing, it made it kinda difficult to read. She had no idea why she had chosen to write it this small, but knew she was pretty much 99% sure she would be too late for class if she couldn’t read the note. She had no idea what class was next and that was why she had the note, but if she couldn’t read the note she would have to go around and ask other first years what class they assume was her next one. The point is that it would become a big and unnecessary problem!
She looked down at this piece of paper for a few minutes trying to read what it said the first class would be and where. "First class… umm…" She paused before completing her sentence looking up from the note, "Transfiguration at the fifth floor!" She smiled at Holly. Now that was finally clarified!

Why didn't she come up with the idea of just writing it down? Sometimes she could yell at her past self. The more she was glad that Abbey was smart.
"Well, at least you don't have the same problems as I did.", she laughed, "You won't believe how many times I got lost."
Alright, this specific topic of discussion was now officially settled, and Holly could change to a more relaxed and fun one. "Shall we meet again and do something?"
Holly always loved to hang out and do something with Abbey, and now she finally could. Now in Hogwarts and later even in Hogsmeade. How much Holly was looking forward to it was hard to put into words. But how long had she waited for Abbey to come to Hogwarts?
Exactly ONE freaking-fluffing-bloody-hells-bells YEAR! God, that was one year too long. At least for Holly. There was no more, just the meet-ups to spend time together.
She knew that Abbey would make other friends here, too. After all, this is Hogwarts. But now they could spend as much time as they wanted together. Except, of course, where their houses and year differed. But they'll manage to make it work. That was something Holly just knew.

Abbey was sure she would get lost in the castle some day. She knew most people did get lost at least once at some point during their first year… and she was most likely going to be one of them. Even though she had most information about her classes written down, she didn’t plan on continuing with carrying around that note. She really wanted to memorise the castle and her classes. It couldn’t be that hard, right?
Abbey smiled wider than before. She would love to hang out with Holly! It was honestly just now she realised she would be able to see her best friend almost every single day for six years! She had been looking forwards to be going to the same school as Holly though. And it being a magical school was even better! Holly and her could learn spells together, go to Hogsmeade, play quidditch, brew potions and a lot more that seemed like fun things to do with a good friend.
"Yes we should! I have to go to class, like you know, but what about hanging out later today?" Abbey suggested. She hoped today wasn’t going to be too early, but she just couldn’t wait to long before they hung out. It was going to be so much fun, she just knew it!

"That sounds great!", said Holly and couldn't stop smiling, "How about after the afternoon classes and before dinnertime?", there was enough of a time gap in between to meet somewhere, "Where should we meet?", Holly would rather ask Abbey about a location than suggest something where Abbey was bound to get lost.
Holly had enough time to sort this out before she had to leave. She wouldn't be late even if she didn't run. And she doesn't want her or Abbey to be late. But she shouldn't drag it out too much. Still, she had to know where to find Abbey afterwards, otherwise, the search game starts all over again.
It wasn't a problem as she liked hide-and-seek, but at some point, she'd like to be able just to find Abbey and have fun without this whole ordeal of find-the-missing-best-friend-in-a-way-too-big-place. Because Abbey's still in her first year, the odds are there that she could still get lost despite the notes she made.
At the meeting, Holly would be very happy to hear everything about how her first and second days here at Hogwarts went. Hopefully not too stressful. But sadly right here, right now, she really doesn't have time. That's why she doesn't ask now but will do it later when they meet.

"Yeah, before dinner time sounds great!" She smiled. She was starting to look forwards to the meeting and the hopefully great conversation they would have together about what had happened since they last spoke to each other.
Abbey wasn’t sure where she wanted to meet or exactly what she wanted to do or talk about. She thought about it for a few minutes before she suggested a place she most likely wouldn’t get lost trying to get to. "What about the courtyard? I haven’t been there yet, but I know where it is." She had seen it and heard some students talking about what a great hang out place it was, but hadn’t been there yet even though she really wanted to check it out. She thought it would be the perfect place for the two of them to talk for a while. Maybe not the most peaceful place, because it seemed like it was usually crowded with students, but at least a place they both hopefully knew where was. The courtyard was also not far away from the great hall, so if they ended up being there until dinner started, then they wouldn’t take long getting to the great hall.
