Lost in the office
BEGINNING OF SEPTEMBER
First year, eleven years
First year, eleven years
The girl didn't know where she was. She didn't really care though. Discovering the castle was pretty great, and the young witch didn't care if she was lost or not. She will finish by find a place that she knew, after hours of walking. Or she'll meet someone. There were many ways of finding her way in Hogwarts, and the Gryffindor really wasn't nervous. She wasn't going to die up there, she will always find a way to come back. She was pretty convinced.
During a few minutes, Bonnie was looking down by the window, a large smile on her face. The field was so pretty, seen like that. The red-haired girl didn't where she was, but she knew she was high. The floor seemed so far away, it was even kind of creepy. Lucky for her, she wasn't afraid of highs. In fact, she wasn't afraid of anything.
Unsurprisingly, the little girl soon became bored. She hated doing nothing and was always on the move, unable to keep still. This time wasn't different: she walked away after five minutes. She needed to move. She needed to see new things. To meet more people. It wasn't by staying here that she was going to change the world ! The English walked a little bit more in the corridors, until she found a new door. She didn't know where this one led, so she opened it. She fastly entered in an almost quiet room, where there were only two persons. What was this ?
- Hey, she said. Where are we ? Do you know how to go downstairs ?
Maybe it was some stupid questions, but Bonnie didn't care. In fact, she didn't care about a lot of things. And it included what the others thank of her.
@Avis Marlong hope it suits you !

Lost in the office
Avis had found the perfect room. It was small, out of the way. The chances of anyone coming in here were very low, as it was so far away, yet it was close to the caretakers office. It was a dusty room, empty but for a small window, but that was alright, Avis could easily sweep it out and fix it up. That was something she had noticed about wizards, they seemed to live in the medival ages. Where was the electricity, the lights? It was always so cold and dark in these castles. Avis wondered if she could build a fire in this room.
A red-headed girl suddenly walked into the room. It was an interesting sort of walk, that type of walk where you have no destination, you're just walking for the walk. Walking just to move. Avis groaned to herself. She had been here 3 minutes and already someone had bumbled in. She hoped this girl didn't plan on sharing this room. That would not be happening. Avis would just have to find a new secret nook. After all, it wasn't by meeting new people that one could change the world.
"Hey, where are we? Do you know how to go downstair?"
Avis rolled her eyes. That was a stupid question. "We're in the North Tower...you know, cause you walked up the tower in the North? And you get down...wait for it" Avis held her breath, trying to replicate a sarcasm tone of suspense. "by going down the stairs." Avis turned around, waiting for the girl to just leave her alone. But then she realized, there wasn't really anything left for her to do up in this room or the tower, and she would just be standing here awkwardly. Besides, what if this girl got lost? She sighed Where do you need to go? I'll walk you down.

Lost in the office
The young girl was standing in front of the door, blocking the only issue of the piece. She looked up at everything, as she was trying to remember every single thing present in the room. She kind of had a great memory: it shouldn't be too difficult. The young student loved remembering all kind of things, from the pass to go up there to the little window at the left of the room. Everything seemed important to ger, she had to memorize it !
A little smile on her lips, and there she was, already talking. Even if the persons in the room didn't seem really talkative. They always could help her, right ?!
- No, you're sure ? I wouldn't have guessed, she said with a little laugh, persuaded that her classmate was joking. How could she not ? Really ?! That would be great, thanks ! I wanted to go to the grounds !
The little girl was talking with a vive and exhausting tone, which probably were going to make her classmate regret her choice. But Bonnie didn't realize it, and was so happy to talk to someone. In her head, it was the perfect opportunity to learn to know the Ravenclaw girl. Especially since the castle was so big, they were going to walk together for a bit of time. Amazing !

Avis sighed again. Did this girl just not take cues? She smiled! Avis had mocked her, and she laughed. Was this on purpose, just to get on Avis' nerves?
"You wanted to get to the grounds? And you solution was to walk upstairs? Right. Are you sure, you're ok?" Avis just wanted to get over with this. With her luck, the girl would probably take her rhetorical question literally. Then again, it was pretty suspicious. Maybe this girl hadn't come up here just looking for the grounds.
"Well, come on then, lets go downstairs." Avis crossed the room to the girl.
"Avis Marlong, First Year, but if your older and think you can mess around with me...." Avis tilted her head and looked the girl up and down, examining her. She didn't seem older than a first-year, with big hazel eyes that had a look of innocence, and clean and kept hair, and pale skin. Examples of a sheltered child. Avis had been sheltered too, she supposed they had just taken it differently. This girl was not dangerous, but Avis should've known that. She strode to and past the girl into the hall and looked back at her expectantly.
"Are you coming? Or would you rather we sat in this dark room and had a tea and crumpets?" Nevermind, this girl could come if she felt like it. She started off for the stairs, flinging her hair around her without looking back.

Lost in the office
- Well, at the beginning, I didn't want to go to the grounds, she explained. Just now, but I don't remember how I got up here so...
It seemed pretty obvious, right ? Why didn't the girl understood ? In fact, the Ravenclaw girl looked a little bit suspicious. Or tired ? Bonnie never was good to read people, so she couldn't really tell. And she didn't really care. As long as her classmate was nice, it was okay ! She could support not knowing what she was thinking.
When the girl, apparently named Avis, approched and passed her, the first year hurried to move back and get out of the room. She maybe was naive, but not inconscient. Her classmate wasn't really happy to help her, and didn't hide it. Bonnie was happy to get some help, but didn't want to get on the nerves of the other girl. Faster they would be downstairs, the better things will be.
- What ?! No, she laughed when she heard what Avis was thinking. She would never do that ! I'm Bonnie Rood, in first year too.
A little smile on her face, Bonnie hurried to walk to her classmate. She was ready to cross the entire castle, if she needed to !
- So, you're in Ravenclaw ? she asked before continuing. What were you doing up here ? I didn't know this part of the school.
The idea that, maybe, Avis didn't want to talk didn't even cross her mind. Who wouldn't want to chat ? It was like the most amazing thing in the world. And Bonnie, probably the most talkative person in the castle, wasn't ready to stop.

She still didn't get it?! She just took the question and lost the sarcasm, thought Avis. That was insane. This girl was one of the most naive people she had ever met. But in the back of Avis' mind creeping up was another thought. This girl, her naivety, was almost sort of...refreshing? Back at home with Maria, they would both jab at each other, but this girl was like rubber, every insult simply bouncing off. It was strange to Avis, and sort of new. She slowed her walk enough to let the girl-Bonnie-catch up but kept her pace enough to force her to walk quickly to keep up.
"Bonnie Rood. Meaning red. Fits pretty well, I'd say."
She started down the stairs, taking care to stay just ahead of Bonnie, without letting the smaller girl fall behind.
"Yeah, I'm in Ravenclaw. Not sure what all the fuss about the houses is though. I was looking for a study nook. My sister and I each had one back in England, and I was hoping for a place to be alone."
She purposely looked back and emphasized alone. This girl was sweet, but it seemed like she needed quite a few extra cues in a normal conversation.

The little girl laughed harder when she heard her classmate, her heart becoming big by thinking to her parents. She missed them so much ! During all of her childhood, they had never let her alone. They were always behind her to help her make good decisions, to show her how to do something, etc. She just felt terribly lost now that she couldn't see them until Christmas. She couldn't wait til then. It was physically impossible for her, she was convinced.
- Yeah, my parents are funny, right ? she said with a big smile.
The Gryffindor girl shrugged her shoulders. She didn't care about the houses. In fact, she didn't really understand the concept. They all seemed pretty much the same to her, but that was maybe because of her education. Being a muggle-born wasn't easy everyday.
- Yeah, me too, she smiled, enthusiasc to the idea of sharing her opinion. I mean, we're pretty much the same, all of us, don't you think ? Deep inside of us.
Once again, the little girl didn't take the hint. Being alone? What for? She decided not to dwell on the subject, preferring to concentrate on the rest of the brunette's sentence. A corner office ? For her and her sister ? Stylish !
- You had your own study nook ? she exclaimed. That is so amazing !

Her parents were funny? Avis wasn't sure, but it seemed unlikely that her parents would have had a say in either their last name or the color of their daughter's hair. Then again, these wizards and witches were in a world foreign to her. But that was enough about the girl's last name, Avis was knee-deep into a conversation already, she might as well dive in.
"I don't think we're all the same. I mean, even without our genetic differences, our situations would have molded us differently. I simply mean that we aren't different enough to necessitate separate houses. A corner office?" Bonnie seemed to think that Avis' little study nook, the "corner office," as she called it, was one of the coolest things ever. It really wasn't, it was just a sheet of plywood held up by two tables, but then again, it was Avis', and Avis' alone.
"Yeah, I suppose it was pretty sweet. I kept books and my trumpet and saxophone and music in there, and when I was in there no one would bother me. It was a free place, of sorts. Did you have something like that? Not a nook necessarily, but just a cozy place to call your own?"

The first year nodded. That was what she meant actually, the other just didn't understand. Of course, they were all different ! Clearly, Bonnie was the opposite of her classmate. Besides there was no surprise in the fact that they weren't in the same house. She just thought that, deep inside people, they all wanted the same thing. They just acted differently, thought differently. But no matter what the Ravenclaw was thinking of her, they had the same opinion on the subject.
- That is what I meant, she said.
The little witch continued walking, while listening to her classmate. She was interesting, in a different way than people their age. After a few seconds, Bonnie decided that she liked her. Well, she liked pretty much everyone but that still meant something.
- I like it, that seems great, she said. Hum... not really, except my room. My sister was always behind me, I couldn't get rid of her.
She loved her anyway, even if supporting the little red-haired Rood was exhausting. She was even more energetic than her ! Something that was almost impossible. Emily was always joking, laughing and screming. No doubt that Avis wouldn't have liked her. Like she didn't seem to appreciate Bonnie.
- Well, I never looked for it either, she explained. I didn't need to be alone, I have a great family !

So Bonnie had a sister? And she couldn't get rid of her? that was strange. In Avis' opinion, Bonnie Rood seemed like the type of girl whose family had those family game nights, where they all hugged and said they loved each other every four seconds...and yet Bonnie's sister seemed to annoy Bonnie at times. To be fair, thought Avis, most people wouldn't think he had an all that great relationship with her sister either, and yet they were great friends. You had to be when you spend years upon years with hardly anyone else. When they were younger, people would be asked if they were twins.
"How old's your sister? I wouldn't say I had my nook to escape my family, besides a few times." Had Bonnie had never gotten frustrated with her family, ever? Was her whole entire family perfect in every way? That was absurd.
"My nook wasn't to escape my family, it was to find myself. You know the saying "good fences make good neighbors? Good walls make good families. I loved my sister but it's not like I wanted her digging through my stuff or anything. I want her to be there where I let her."
