Noah looked around. He saw two girls and one boy. He knew he was going to be apprehended and possibly murdered. Despite the situation, he decided that he would just give it his all. He was his own superhero. If he couldn’t see that himself, well… He’s not really much of a superhero.

Regardless of how it would’ve ended up, or how he viewed himself, he knew he was older than the rest of them. He knew more than the rest of them did. Now he did share a grade level with one of them, just for about half a term. If she recognized him, well, that would’ve been a surprise because he mostly kept to himself. It was embarrassing to be a year behind your original classmates, but hey, the past was in the past.

He decided he would just go ahead and get into his dueling stance. This dueling stance consisted of him being on his side, his feet practically behind each other with only a few feet in gap. When he was ready to cast, he would pull out his wand from the holder. He looked prepared to cast, knowing that whatever it was he were to do, it would be an attempt to keep himself alive, and avoid actually sending these people to the nurses office for absolutely no reason. As he stood, his wand pointed towards one of them, he grand. A sign that he were to attack. Either one of them needed to be careful.

It was eight days into the new school year. Which meant that nothing had started up that much yet; there was still a month until the first stage of the official duelling circut, and there was really not much to do except for wake up, eat, study, eat, sleep, repeat. It seemed fated that the new fourth year would stumble across a poster in her common room advertising of a duelling club that allowed members to duel pretty much whenever and whoever they wanted. She was already part of the 1v1 duelling thing, of course, but there was barely any activity going on either no offense . Thinking it to be pretty interesting, she had signed up, just to be contacted days later by one of the school's less bright messenger owls barreling into her window and crashing. Guin's eyebrows only climbed higher and higher while reading the note's contents. The name of Ava Winchect certainly rang a bell in her mind. The infamous Malfoy Dorm incident during her second year was still by far the most interesting thing she'd witnessed during Hogwarts, and now Ava was volunteering herself and Guin up to challenge some guy in the year above. Noah's name also rang a bell, though very distant and blurry in her mind. She didn't think too much of it.
Either way, it wasn't like Guin had anything better to do, so she didn't decline and grabbed her wand to go duel. She arrived at the duel location. "Hey guys," she said, acknowledging everyone present. She got into a relaxed stance while staying light on her feet.

Ava had signed up for a new club, another dueling one. She was a part of many clubs, but this one had caught her eye. She had become especially interested in clubs similar to the school sports, especially the sports she didn’t do. Ava was a broom racer, which in her opinion was basically dueling while in the air!

She arrived outside for the duel of that day, her face in a smirk as she glanced between her partner and opponent. While she had never met her opponent, she could tell by his looks that he was probably annoying and a bully to people especially to people on TRD /ij (not part of word count). Her partner was a girl, and if Ava wasn’t mistaken, a duelist as well. Their opponent was older, but with two of them they could gain the upper hand. Or with the right moves, start with the upper hand.

Ava took a calming breath, taking up a dueling stance next to her partner and across from their opponent. She was determined to earn the win, even if she came out a little banged up. There were students on standby if anyone was that injured. Maybe. She was too focused to even glance in that direction, weighing her options and deciding on her move. She knew what she would do. She raised her wand and…

Damn, he actually managed to succeed? Impressive. He did not think that he would even be able to cast the fog charm. It wasn’t something that he necessarily had a lot of practice with. He was just happy that he didn’t use Fumos. He knew that Fumos would negatively impact him too.

He heard the incantation for the blindfolding charm, and he was happy that he did not get blindfolded. But at the same time he heard the incantation or the wind jinx. He was unlucky in comparison to the blindfolding time. He ended up getting struck with the wind jinx. It wasn’t a lovely feeling as it felt a tad painful. Who knew that wind could be so rough.

He still stood his ground. He smiled, and pointed at them with a big lucky grin on his face.

At least he did not go down the very first round like he did his first duel. That was utter bullshit. He knew he was just here to feel a tad bit strong. To feel like he could at least defeat someone and prove his own worth. He heard of the legendary Dimitri Jones, and he wanted to follow suit.

He needed to be a bit intimidating. But that was what was hard. He did not think that he could be intimidating. He was not that kind of person. But he could give it his best shot. Least in the terms of Tina Turner.

Ava kept her eyes glued on Noah as she cast the spell, the blindfolding spell. She wasn’t the best student, which meant she wasn’t the best caster either, but at least this was a transfiguration spell, which she was usually good at. The blindfolding spell, which would have put him at a disadvantage had it succeeded. At least her partner, Guinevere, managed to succeed. Unfortunately, so did Noah. The fog charm wouldn’t allow them clear casting, which put them at a disadvantage, but at least it wasn’t something offensive.

If only she had all the magical abilities imaginable. Unfortunately, she was only a third year student, with very little advantage in this match. Maybe she had none. But for the moment, her only goal was to win. She glared at the wood in her wand, willing it to give her an idea, or a match winning spell. Eventually someone would have to make the next move, or there would be no winner.

"You won’t win this," she informed Noah idly, raising her wand as if the action alone would somehow help her win. Maybe a little banter would give her an idea of how to win this.

What to do… she glanced at her partner as she decided, knowing she would need to make an action—and soon. She was running out of time.

The Gryffindor kid shouted for the duel to begin. Guin chose to cast a Ventus, remembering how well it had worked during the last duel of her third year, with it being a textbook cast and splitting to hit two people at once. Sadly it wasn't as strong as that one, but still managed to deal a bit of damage. Ava had chosen to go for an Obscuro next to her, which was sucessfully casted. Noah, however, had been too fast and evaded the blindfold. "You got it next time," she called to Ava over her Ventus' roaring wind. Not long after, a Nebulus from Noah went shutting down a lot of their visibility, which reminded Guin that she should probably go learn how to cast that, preferably before her season started. But alas. The Slytherin was probably going to procrastinate it. Anywho.
With her and Ava barely able to see, the duel didn't seem rather promising, but it was only the second round, and if she remembered correctly, the duel would go to seven. There was still plenty of time to turn it around, not that they were losing really bad yet or anything. At least they hadn't taken any hits yet, and their combined strength was greater, or at least equal to the opposing fifth year. Find the average, right? That was how Guin hoped math worked.

For her next move, the Slytherin planned to null out the fog cloud hanging low over the piste. The Ventus that emerged from her wand did its job, making it dissapate, but no sooner had she been able to see had she heard the incantation for the full body bind curse leave her opponent's mouth. This wasn't a spell she had encountered yet, and for sure wasn't looking to get hit by it soon. She'd seen other duellists use the spell quite usefully and efficiently but hadn't gotten around to casting it herself.
Back in the present, Guin staggered back to try to avoid the spell and tried to duck backwards, but ended up getting twisted up and trying to duck forwards and backwards at the sametime. Contact was imminent and she only had a second to mutter out "aw crap" before she went stiff as a board and fell. Not cute. That crusty mulch would be all up in her hair. At least she could still think. And move her eyeballs, but not much else than that. Ugh. This created a rather bad situation for her. Hopefully they could still pull through this very minor inconvenience. No words of encouragement came from Guin, not that she could talk anyways, but she thought hard about what she could do next.
