Ava was never fully out of trouble.

Ava grinned against the afternoon sky, making her way through the grounds and to her new troublemaking spot. Apparently, there was nothing one could do to stop Ava from her mischievous tendencies, which was unsurprising given her past full of chaos and detentions. It seemed that Ava wasn’t the magnet for trouble, she was what was pulled to the magnets. Magnetic.

She hoped that the greenhouses would be empty when she entered, for if they weren’t it would be unfortunately difficult for her to execute her plan of destruction. She entered the greenhouses, squinting against the light filtering in as she searched the greenhouse for her tool of destruction. Once located, she pulled on a pair of rather foul smelling gloves and started towards the piles. And what were the piles in question? The rancid thing called dragon dung. It was something Ava had handled before, in class but also in other pranks.

She had been able to steal the dung once successfully, so now it would be a test to see if that time was skill or chance. She wrinkled her nose as her fingers sunk into the feces, and she grabbed a handful of it with a grimace before flinging it at the ground nearby. She would continue her task of covering the greenhouse in dung until either caught or satisfied. Either way, how she would get out of the growing mess was a question to be pondered.

Even if it was Hogwarts, it was a really boring day with nothing amazing, or crazy, with no friends around, no chatting or laughing; it was quiet everywhere. While Ash enjoyed having some time alone, sometimes it was unbearable having no one around, and that's what she was going through.

The only option left to escape boredom was stepping out of the castle and maybe looking for something new. So there she was, standing in front of the seven greenhouses after roaming around for what seemed like an eternity. What was she going to do? Hopefully, she could spread some chaos in one of the greenhouses. It could be anything; Ash didn't know what exactly she was going to do there but knew she would work it all out once she was inside the greenhouse.
Entering a greenhouse she'd never been to before, she hoped she wouldn't have to encounter anyone— especially a professor.

To her relief, the place was deserted except for a few beautiful birds which flew around and chirped. Slightly smiling, Ash moved her gaze all around the greenhouse to look for something that might help her do some destruction. But she was almost shocked spotting a girl at some distance back-facing her.

Oh, it's not a professor, thanks Jesus... She sighed and wondered what the girl was doing there at this hour. It was not even the time for classes.

Nervous, hoping the girl would not tell on her that she'd been sneaking in the greenhouse, Ash walked towards a girl.

"Uhm... hey there..." Hoping her sudden approach didn't scare the girl, Ash spoke further. "What are you doing here at this time? I'm just curious—"
And then she smelled something foul.
Amazed, she turned her gaze towards the brown matter the girl was holding.

Interesting...

Ava was focused, so she didn’t immediately recognize that someone else was in the room. At first when she heard the other person speak she froze, wondering if it was a professor, until she realized the voice belonged to a much younger person. A fellow student, and hopefully not a goody two shoes.

She turned to face the new person, dung still in hand. "What do you think I’m doing here?" Ava asked, prompting the other student to use her brain. What did it look like? It was very obvious that Ava was making chaos, there was no excuse to why there was dung all over the floor.

"You can either help me so we can get this done and get out of here, or you can be coated in dung!" Ava explained, not wanting to be snitched on by this student. Snitches got stitches, as the saying went. Maybe this ultimatum was going a little far, but it was truly meant to be a harmless prank. A harmless, hilarious prank, that she was rather proud of. She hadn’t done too much to annoy the herbology professor yet, so truly this was due, in a way. But on the topic of her fellow student, this could either end well or terribly. Either way, Ava would probably get the better end of the deal. Who knew, maybe the student had come here to cause chaos too, which would make her feel a lot better about her ultimatum. "So what’s it going to be?"

The brown matter looked familiar. Looking carefully at the stuff the girl was holding, Ash immediately identified it.

DRAGON DUNG!!

Seconds ago, Ash wasn't sure what the older-looking girl was doing there. But now, her intentions seemed clearer than the crystal. Unlike what she had thought before, the girl wasn't there for a good cause— oh well— to Ash, it WAS a good cause. A really good one.

She grinned at the girl's question as an answer. This was the only thing she was missing. Chaos, or something weird... or anything that you won't count in the category of normals.

Get coated in dung...? Ash thought.
Nah, being smelly and having everyone run away from her back there in the castle didn't seem amazing, even if it was. But of course, she could work with the girl. Perhaps they could do some destruction or anything like that. The girl seemed destructive enough, to Ash's awe.

"You know what," Ash grinned at the girl. "I can help you!!! So... what exactly do we do with this?" She pointed at the funny dung smudged all over the ground and the girl's hand.

"By the way," she decided to introduce herself, a little afraid she sounded awkward because that was her anyway. "I'm Ash. Ash Brown. And, you are...?" She extended her hand, unsure if the girl would shake it since her hands were coated chocolaty brown. She didn't care though.

Ava grinned at the other student’s willingness to help and held up the dung. "Right now I’m just trying to cover the greenhouse in as much dung as I can before we’re either caught or we’re done!" Ava explained her plan with a smirk, already partially done.

When the student—Ash—held out her hand, Ava grabbed it with another smirk, the dung coating Ash’s hand and flying through the air and landing on the already dirty floor. "Ava. Ava Winchect." she introduced. Whether the name rang a bell or not, she did her best not to care. There were two ways she was known, as a troublemaker, or as the girl who ended up in St. Mungoes for a quarter of the school year.

She winked at Ash as she forced the thoughts away and turned back to the dung pile, careful not to let it touch her clothes as she continued to toss the manure to the floor almost carelessly. There was method to the madness though. Maybe she ought to finish this up quickly, before she was caught. She frowned in thought, trying to decide how long she was willing to stay. Not much longer, she decided.

"So, what brought you to the greenhouse?" she casually asked Ash, filling the silence in the room.

Covering the greenhouse...
Ash grinned at the daring girl. Guess covering the greenhouse with that stinky dung sounded rather creative to Ash.
"So..." said Ash, smirking back at the girl. "I guess I'll start working on it too!!"

As the girl introduced herself as Ava, Ash felt a sense of familiarity wash over her. She stared at Ava with a puzzled expression before returning to her work with the dung, determined to ignore its noxious odour.
Ava's name sparked a flicker of recognition in Ash's mind. But when her efforts were in vain as her mind refused to cooperate, so she gave up at last.

Now, they were busy spreading the dragon dung all around the floor and there was only silence between them except for the satisfying splashing noises of the dung.
While Ash was finding a way to block the dung's awful smell out of her nose, her eyes squinted, Ava's question caught her attention.
"Well," she answered. "I was just bored. Had nothing great to do, so I decided to procrastinate out here. And then I walked into this." She grinned. "What about you— what made you decide to do all this?"

As Ash spoke, she nearly stepped and slipped on the dung they'd been spreading, but regained balance in no time.

Ash’s grin confirmed the idea that had been forming in Ava’s mind: that the castle was boring and she was actually doing the school a favor by creating this mess. The confirmation only added to her determined destruction, slowly turning the place into a stinky, ruined mess.

Although the smell was horrible, as Ava’s brown eyes scanned the chaos, she managed a proud smile. The clean-up required would be truly terrible, but Ava couldn’t muster up any sense of pity for whatever professor would discover and be tasked with cleaning this.

Ash’s answer was carried through the air, offering a distraction to both girls from the odor and the almost dull task. Ava’s lips could only purse to hold the laugh that was threatening to spill from her lips. “You came to the greenhouse to procrastinate? I have to question your taste in hobbies. What, were you planning on tending the plants while leaving your homework abandoned?” That was a joke, Ava understood just how mind-numbing the assigned work o the castle could be.

“I’m just here to interrupt the monotonous nature of the school year, and fulfill my duty to the school as one of the resident trouble-makers.” Ava explained, her grin never disappearing from the bright face it resided on.

Really sorry I'm almost 2 months late 😭
Ash looked around for a moment to confirm no teacher's pet was hiding and watching them. She wouldn't want anyone to interrupt their hard work. Glancing back at Ava, she passed a cheeky grin.
"Procrastinating doesn't really need to make sense, does it? I wasn't exactly planning to water the plants or anything. But look, where it got me."

Scooping up another handful of dragon dung, Ash wrinkled her nose halfway at the squelchy feel. "This is way more fun than sitting in the common room, staring at nothing." She tossed the dung towards the corner with a bit too much enthusiasm, missing her mark as it splattered near the door instead. She winced but shrugged it off.

Straightening up, Ash looked up at Ava, a glint of mischief in her eyes. "Hey, so how many detentions have you got for this kind of stuff? Or have you ever gotten one? I'm curious..." Ava somewhat seemed like a professional troublemaker, which only added to her curiosity. Because Ash's mind never suggested her to cover the greenhouse with dragon dung or such. All she could ever think of was pranking teachers and sneaking into restricted places. This was way more wild to do—she loved it.

There was something about dragon dung appealed mischievous children — like flies to shit, rats to scraps, or swine rolling it it’s own filth.

What it was about dung that catered to their puny, naive attention spans was beyond the Professor’s understanding; perhaps it was the breed of flock that Hogwarts opened its doors to or simply the downfall of decent parenting within the bounds of the United Kingdom’s wizarding community. Who knew.

The numinous Haitian woman didn’t have to see the dung-loaded catastrophe with her own eyes - the scent, burning string in her eye, and childlike chuckles was enough to clue the Professor on everything she needed to know.

This wasn’t the first time within her short tenure that Sarai was met with such a strong-odored surprise. The cleaning of the muck was not something Sarai had minded with how often she created messes of her own and the aftermath of sneaky students, but rather disdained the waste of decent product. Magic could easily wash away the filth of caked dung from the floor and surfaces, but why bother bestowing the culprits the easy way out of their misery? There was no joy in that for Sarai.

With a loaded and aggravated sigh, Sarai bent down to retrieve a rusty, metal bucket from the dusty hallway floor and quietly filled it with warm soapy water. Inside the bucket was some sponges and toothbrushes. She’d saunter to the greenhouse where two students lingered, and would interrupt their bliss with a loud metal clank of the bucket of water smacking against the ground with water sloshing from the rim.

”Miss Winchect, why am I not surprised?” Sarai greeted the familiar nuisance of the Slytherin house nonchalantly before throwing a soured glance to the other student, “And with an accomplice. Interestin’.”

”You’ll spend however long it takes to clean this greenhouse spotless top to bottom-“ she began with a smirk pulling a stool from underneath a workshop station. The woman opened a book that rested on the tabletop and flicked a speck of dung from the cover onto the floor, ”-and I suggest you hurry and do a decent job the first time around if you wish to catch your dinner in time. But, it is your loss should you want to sleep hungry tonight.”

“Sounds like your common room is boring,” Ava decided, taking a jab at the other house. “Slytherin is never boring.” Indeed it wasn’t. If the Slytherin common room was quiet, that meant there was a lot of trouble happening in the shadows. Or it was midterms and everyone was studying.

Ava returned the grin to Ash. “I only get caught like…75% of the time. I’m going to say maybe four detentions?” Ava estimated, just as the professor walked into the greenhouse with an unhappy expression and a bucket that was undeniably for cleaning their mess up. “Make that five,” Ava stage whispered, smiling sweetly at the professor.

“Professor Toussaint! Good to see you!” Ava greeted, scanning the mess they had made proudly. “And she’s not a planned accomplice, she just showed up when I was almost done,” Ava gestured to Ash, her smirk fading a little at the idea of sharing the credit of her work with another person.

After being told the instructions, Ava gaped at the professor and glared angrily. “You can’t do that! I refuse!” Ava crossed her arms over her chest and continued glaring, but after a moment of staring decided she ought to get started on the task, knowing the professor was not joking. She moved toward the bucket and grabbed one of the sponges, holding it over the ground as she wrung out an unnecessary amount of water onto the greenhouse ground, rather than in the bucket where it belonged.

She kept her eyes locked on the professor as she dropped the sponges to the ground and used her foot to push it around a bit, doing little other than moving the dung from one spot to another. Her lack of effort spoke volumes about her opinion on the task as she glared at the professor. “You should be helping us do this,” She grumbled to the professor, her effort minimal and her mood low.

The only way to make the time pass would be to chat, which is what she decided to do, whether she got a response or not. “We were really doing you a favor here, Professor Toussaint. The greenhouse was in desperate need of some decor, and we did it for free! You should be rewarding us!”

Her efforts turned more serious once she realized that they would be staying until they finished cleaning, and she turned her attention into using her foot to scrub a clean spot to stand. She was fine with her shoes getting a little dirty, but her clothes? That was a completely different story. Once she deemed the small clean spot good enough she finally lowered herself to the ground, using her arms to start cleaning.

It took some time, but everything seemed to be going well, more than half the greenhouse had been cleaned. But what Ava stood up to go to another spot…she slipped. Curse the soapy water, but she didn’t just slip. She slipped into one of the spots the duo hadn’t yet managed to clean, falling into a larger pile of dung. The dung coated the front of her, the smell causing her to fake gag as she let out a string of complaints. She turned to glare at the professor, glaring and pointing an accusing finger to her. “This is all your fault! I can’t believe you’re making us do this!”

For the remainder of the time that it took to clean the greenhouse she was silent, glaring at the professor whenever she could and doing the rest of the cleaning aggressively. When they finally finished she threw the sponge angrily into the bucket of now dirty water and stalked off without another word, surely off to plot her revenge.
