Mateo Yamamoto had spent most of the first day with his friends, but he did explore slightly, but today, he decided to explore more of the castle on his own.

He left the Mahoutokoro side of the campgrounds and decided to take a walk, and let his feet gide him somewhere. While he was walking, he looked around and noticed how different Hogwarts is then Mahoutokoro, but he likes what he's seeing.

Soon, he found himself near a lake, which is probably the only lake this school has. Mateo then saw a girl sitting near a tree and reading a book, and he decided to walk over to her, since he might be able to make a friend that isn't in Mahoutokoro. When he got nearer to the girl, he cleared his throat, and then said,
"Uh, hi. Sorry to disturb you from reading, but mind if I sit here? Also, what are you reading?"

Mateo spoke in perfect English, without letting an accent slip. Mateo can easily speak three languages fluently, and no accent slips form any other language either, which took a while for his speech to come off like that, but people will still know that he's Japanese because of his appearance.

Mateo hadn't noticed that the girl was reading, he only noticed when he began talking, and he felt bad for disturbing her from reading, since sometimes whenever someone talks while someone is reading, they tend to lose their page, or they don't even talk back, and Mateo hoped none of those things happened to him.

Mateo heard the girl reply saying that he can join her, so he sat down beside her and saw her place her finger into the book, kinda like a bookmark. He then also heard her say that the book she is reading is called 'Furthermore', and that it has magic in it. Before saying anything, Mateo looked at the girl, and knew that she wasn't from Hogwarts, but he was curious about which school she is from, so he said,
"Thanks for letting me join you. What's Furthermore about? I haven't heard of it before. You aren't from here, right? I attend Mahoutokoro. Oh, and I'm Mateo Yamamoto,"

Mateo held his hand out to the girl, hoping that she'll take it and shake his hand, but if not, that'll be fine too, and maybe awkward as well, but Mateo didn't worry about that.

As much as Mateo loves Quidditch, he also loves reading books, he's mostly read the books that Mahoutokoro's library has, and perhaps he'll expand on the books he reads, only if he can find a place to find the books that is.

For friends, Mateo doesn't mind hanging out with people that aren't as passionate of Quidditch like he is, but he likes a lot of things besides Quidditch, so he can also share a passion with someone without knowing it.

What the girl was doing was something very different from what most people did whenever they were reading and someone was talking to them. No one really closed the book, they only did if they weren't immersed in the book, but Mateo knew the girl was giving him her full attention, which made him smile slightly. And even though Mateo is quite and shy upon meeting someone new, he hasn't been quite or shy at all while setting foot on the grounds of Hogwarts, which is good.

Mateo snapped out of his thoughts as he heard the girl sitting beside him speak, saying she didn't mind having company. Then he heard her explain the book, which piqued Mateo's interest. Then he heard her say that she isn't from Hogwarts and is from Ilvermorny, and then heard the girl ask if Mahoutokoro is in Japan, then finally, she introduced herself as Devon Wallen, Mateo also felt Devon take his outstretched hand, and shake it. After the handshake was complete, Mateo let go of Devon's hand, gave her a smile and said,
"It's nice to meet you too, Devon. Furthermore sounds really interesting. Where did you get the book? Ilvermorny, the New York school, right? Yes, Mahoutokoro is in Japan. Isn't it cool how so many people from different schools and students at this school are all together? Oh, d'you know anyone that goes to Hogwarts? I know a first year in Ravenclaw. We're childhood friends,"

Unlike his half-blood friend which attends Hogwarts, Mateo has been in love before, but hasn't had a girlfriend, yet. Maybe he'll get one? But, Mateo isn't ready to date, yet maybe in other years, not in his first year though. Mateo was trying to get onto the Quidditch team at Mahoutokoro, and that was all that was on his mind, well, except for the ball. He still doesn't know who he'll be going with.

Mateo snapped out of his head when he heard Devon speak again, saying that she's from the muggle world, which made him want to ask about the muggle world, even though his half-blood friend had told him a bit about the muggle world, he was still curious. Before he could ask, however, Devon continued speaking, so Mateo listened, until he was sure that she had finished speaking before saying,
"The muggle world sounds nice. I'm a pureblood, so I'm not really familiar with the muggle world, but if it's possible, could you maybe tell me a bit more about it? Nice. It's New York like crazy busy? I'm from Yokohama. It's a city, in Japan, not the most famous city, but still a good city to go to. I agree with you, making friends from other schools is a great way to learn more about the schools, and their cultures as well, so I'm glad this event was hosted. That's nice. Wait, what if the Slytherin girl and my childhood bestie are actually besties? Wouldn't that be a coincidence?"

From a young age, Mateo had been taught how to ride a broom, and he loved it. His parents also taught him all about Quidditch, and he knew he'd want to be a professional Quidditch player as well, just like his parents, even tho they went to different schools and play on different teams, which is how he can speak Japanese, Spanish, and English fluently. He heard Devon speak, so he listened to her carefully, as she shared things about New York to him. He smiled at her before saying,
"What's an apartment complex? Is it like a big building with homes inside? I live in a mansion back home, or something close to a mansion. Japan also has trains, not much like subways though, and it's how people get to all the cities across Japan, if they don't want to take a plane. My family flies on brooms most of the time to get to another city in Japan,"

After he had finished speaking about cities, he heard Devon add onto what he had said about his childhood friend and the girl that Devon had met were besties, which would definitely be cool. Mateo then heard Devon say that the Slytherin girls name is Kaitlyn Conner, and after he was sure Devon had finished speaking, Mateo said,
"I'll ask my friend when I see her again as well! My friend's name is Tracey Bailey. I think she has a pet kitten by the name of Tiger, but I'm not too sure though. She's also a Metamorphmagus. D'you know what a Metamorphmagus is? If not, I can explain it to you,"
