Interacting with @Elisa Wagner Date - 05/12/23 WC 308/200 Color Legend - Mylo | Thoughts "Why won't you work!!" Mylo exclaims to the empty classroom, having come here after lessons to practice the locking spell, annoyed at the fact that the unlocking spell he's been practicing for the past hour does not seem to want to do wat it's supposed to do. Every time he relooks at his notes and copies what he had written down from the lesson.
Cull-LOW-pore-tus, move your hand horizontally to the right, down, horizontally to the left, and then down again.
And for some reason, this wouldn't work. Mylo wasn't that good with things not working the first few times around, so having something like this not working multiple times in a row left them feeling quite deflated. But remembering about how his dad would always tell them to try try again they would not give up until he had mastered the spell. Taking another deep breath they reread his notes again, how many times they had done this he wouldn't be able to tell you, and proceeded to try to cast the charm again.
"What is it! What am I doing wrong!" he exclaims starting to get frustrated at the lack of progress after attempting the spell several more times. Deciding to have a mini break they grab their water bottle to take a drink again rereading his notes to double double triple check if they're doing what they've written down, sure enough he can only see that he's doing the exact thing as what he's written down in their notes.
Thinking about whether or not to give up for the time being and maybe going to read a book or do something else just to get their mind off of it, he lets out a deep sign wondering if it might actually be better to go have some tea and ask the professor tomorrow.
OOC Notes - Mylo has the pronunciation wrong they're saying Cull-LOW-pore-tus, it should be Cull-low-PORE-tus

Elisa wandered in the corridors, exploring Hogwarts. She wanted to know the school a little bit better, now that she had made a few friends. She was passing a deserted corridor, when she heard a frustrated cry coming from one of the many empty classrooms. She wondered if she should go in and see what was the matter, but hesitated at the thought of a big 7th Year yelling at her for poking her nose in his business. She shivered at the thought, but nonetheless, her curiosity brought her to the door. She pushed open the door a little, just enough for her to see what was going on inside. To her dismay and great contentment, she saw Mylo Atkins, a fellow first year, inside. He had his wand out, and looked pretty impatient. Relief filled her as to not be seeing a grumpy older student, and she fully opened the door.
Elisa looked around. The chairs and desks were pretty disordered, and the blackboard was covered in dust. It mustn't be a very used classroom, she said to herself. She slowly stepped in, her footsteps leaving prints on the dust covered floor. "Hey Mylo", she said, "I hope I'm not disturbing you. Wonder what you are doing?"
Elisa looked around. The chairs and desks were pretty disordered, and the blackboard was covered in dust. It mustn't be a very used classroom, she said to herself. She slowly stepped in, her footsteps leaving prints on the dust covered floor. "Hey Mylo", she said, "I hope I'm not disturbing you. Wonder what you are doing?"

Interacting with @Elisa Wagner Date - 05/12/23 WC 207/200 Color Legend - Mylo | Thoughts After debating with themselves whether or not to leave it for the day and to try again tomorrow Mylo heard someone enter the empty classroom. She greeted him, seemingly knowing them. He recognised her but from where they weren't sure.
"Uhm.. Hi" He says a little nervous, trying to figure out where he knows her from. 'Charms! She's literally in your class dude. How could you not recognize her.' they think immediately feeling a bit stupid for taking so long to recognize someone who's they've been taking lessons with for the past few months. Knowing he was taking to long to answer they thought she probably would have figured out they didn't recognize her at first.
"Elisa, right?... I'm Really sorry for not recognizing you, I'm uhm... I'm not the best with faces and names." He says getting a bit nervous and rhythmically tapping on their thigh, hoping she wouldn't think of them as an asshole to put it bluntly. Remembering she had also asked him a question he pushes away the anxiety that was building up and answers her. "I'm practicing the spell we learnt in class, Colloportus? For some reason it doesn't want to work and I don't know what I'm doing wrong."
OOC Notes - I've just said they have charms together, if you want me to change the class, or any other way she would recognize them send me an owl!

And by the way, should I refer to Mylo as they/them or he/his or any other pronouns?
Elisa laughed awkwardly as she realised she had never really spoken face to face with the boy. She might have spoken a little too familiarly for two students who barely knew each other. Her doubt was only intensified as Mylo appeared to not be at ease while speaking. Elisa felt herself grow hot. Normally, it wasn't Elisa who would make others nervous, it was the other way around, mostly. However, it seemed that things were changing for her at Hogwarts.
As Mylo continued talking, Elisa wondered why she had stepped into the classroom in the first place. And why she had asked as stupid a question as she had. Wasn't it pretty obvious her classmate was practicing a spell? And that they would like not to be disturbed? But now that she had done all that and that there was no way of turning back. Just then, she realised that Mylo had stopped talking, and all she could do to not prolong the awkward silence was to offer help. I'm not that good at Colloportus either she thought. But since her brain didn't seem able to find any other solution, she said, "Uh... Do you need help with the spell? I might be able to- well, help?

Interacting with @Elisa Wagner Date - 05/12/23 WC 218/200 Color Legend - Mylo | Thoughts After telling Elisa about the problem he was facing Mylo she offered to help them, and that had eased some of Mylo's nerves. She didn't seem to think of them as rude for not recognizing her and that made him relax ever so slightly. Unfortunately with his nerves still up he didn't notice Elisa being nervous as well.
'Just don't say anything else rude. She does well in class, she might be able to figure out what's you're doing wrong.' they think to themselves, happy to have someone help them.
"Uhm, yeah. That would be nice actually. Again really sorry for not recognizing you. I'm not sure what's going wrong." He says, demonstrating the failing spell again, and like the other 100 times they'd tried it it didn't seem to want to work. Deciding to read over their notes one last time they walk over to where they had put down their notebook and grab it off the desk. Putting it a bit closer and rereading what they had written during the lesson.
Again they didn't notice anything extra in his notes that he might be missing or saying wrong. "Do you know what's wrong? I'm doing everything I've written down and it does not want to work." He states, turning to her for advice.

Elisa gulped as Mylo said he did want a little help. It's your fault you entered this classroom and offered help in the first place, she thought. As the fellow student excused themselves for not recognising her, she grinned with a little too tight face, and replied with a quick "No worries."
Elisa wondered how she should approach this situation. Would she try and help her classmate, or should she leave with an excuse. Probably not the latter, it would be too impolite. It was, after all, she, who had poked her nose in others' business.
She took a deep breath, and trying to look as undisturbed and as natural as possible, she said, "Do you want help on that spell? I might be able to figure out what's wrong." She hesitated, then quickly glancing at Mylo, added hurriedly, "But of course, if you don't want any help, I can leave. I mean, I'm not that good at the spell anyway."
Elisa felt herself go red in the face as she blurted out those words. At least you have your wand with you, she thought. She felt for the magic stick in her pocket. It would have been even more embarrassing if she didn't even have her wand.

Interacting with @Elisa Wagner Date - 05/12/23 WC 273/200 Color Legend - Mylo | Thoughts Mylo himself was calmer, and because of that had finally realized how nervous Linda was. Somehow her seemingly being more nervous than them overruled a lot of the anxiety they had left. "I'd appreciate the help. And it's okay, I can't get the spell to work at all. Maybe two people looking at it we'll be able to figure out why it won't work."
As he was trying to comfort her a little with their words he hands over the notebook they were holding. "Here are my notes from the lesson, maybe you can see where I'm going wrong? I usually don't take wrong notes, but there's a first for everything."
Having handed over the notebook Mylo went to try the spell one last time while Eliza looked over their notes. Standing in front of the lock he once again points their wand at the lock, making the wand movements and saying the incantation "Cull-LOW-pore-tus". Unfortunately the lock remained as locked as it had been before.
Turning towards Elisa they hoped she had found something, or figured out what was going wrong.
"Have you found anything? I really hope you have, you do quite well in class and I'd like to see if I can get this spell right before tea." 'That might pressure her dude, don't say it like that.' they realised as soon as the words left their mouth.
"Sorry, I don't mean that to pressure you at all! Uhm, please take your time." He adds, the previously settled nerves coming back in full force, and goes to sit down on one of the chairs.

As she half listened to Mylo's words, Elisa thought hard about what she had learned in class. She was a good student, had good grades, but she just didn't seem to be able to remember that one Charms class. Was it the pressure of helping another student? Mylo had good grades as well... Maybe that was it, she didn't want to embarrass herself not being able to cast a spell properly. But now that she thought of it, Mylo wasn't in the slightest embarrassed even though they failed a couple of times already...
Elisa brushed the thoughts away. It was a fellow first year she was helping, not a menacing monster! Calming herself, she glanced at Mylo's notes. They were fairly clean and organised, Elisa had no trouble reading through them. Well, they were in the same class learning the same things with a same teacher after all!
The Ravenclaw boy repeated the incantation. Was it Elisa, or did it sound a bit- weird?
"Are you sure you're saying that correctly?" Elisa blurted out. Instantly, she figured that what she said might have been very rude. "Of course, I might've heard you wrong..."
She didn't know what to do, so she stared back at Mylo's notebook.

Elisa had been looking over their notes to see if anything looked weird to her while he tried to cast the spell again. As he sat down she had apparently noticed something about his pronunciation of the spell that sounded off to her.
"It's what I've written down, I don't usually take wrong notes. Not that I'm saying that I couldn't be wrong." He quickly adds, not wanting to come across arrogant. "But now that I think about it, it did sound a little off but I thought it might've just been due to the fact that I'm not the professor saying it."
Standing back up they feel a little defeated, probably having taken wrong notes and not being able to cast the spell properly due to that made them feel a little off. He really didn't like making mistakes like that and having it mean that they couldn't cast the spell properly made him wonder why he took wrong notes. And especially now that he couldn't remember the 'proper' incantation for the spell he felt a little dumb.
"What do you think it should be? I cannot remember what it should be." He admits to Elisa, trying not to let it get to them too much, knowing that she probably has the right answer.

She stared and stared. At the notebook laying open on the table. The notes were perfectly clean. And tidy. Neat. But, something was weird. She was sure of it now, Mylo wasn't saying the incantation correctly. It did sound quite a bit off.
"Cull. LOW. pore. tus, huh?" Elisa muttered, raising her head. It was written like that on the notebook. But she didn't write it like that. She had written... What had she written again?
She breathed deeply, trying to arrange her thoughts. So. It's obvious to me now, the incantation is incorrect. The problem is, I just seemed to have... forgotten the correct one!
"Actually, me neither. I cannot remember the correct incantation! That's weird..." Pause. "Maybe you did get the incantation right, after all... And the wand movement? If I remember correctly, and I am no longer so sure about my memorising skills, but if I do remember, it was- a square traced in the clockwise direction, starting from the top left-hand corner."
Elisa took out her wand. Maybe if she cast the spell herself, she'd know how to do it. She raised her wand inn front of her. She cleared her throat. She cleared her throat again. She furrowed her brows. Nothing. Blank. Emptiness. She absolutely did not remember how to cast that stupid spell! It was like- everything she had learned had been sucked out of her. It was as if she had handed back all she had learned back to the professor.
