Mylo had been on quite a few trains before, but never one like this one. He'd gotten on quite early as they would rather be way to early for something than have the stress of being even slightly too late, so the train wasn't quite as busy as they imagined it could be, and yet there were kids everywhere. People talking to each other, some meeting for the first time, others seeing each other again after the summer holiday and reacquainting with their own holiday adventures.
The train wasn't due to leave for another 30 minutes so they decided to walk down the train to see if there were any free carriages for him to sit in. He passed one very full one where it looked like the kids were trying to see who could make the biggest mess, they were sure somehow it would get cleaned up so he decided not to worry about it. If they'd have been roped into the antics as well then it might have been a different story.
As he walked down further getting closer to the end of the train it started to quieten down a bit, the carriages now mostly consisted of kids just sitting down and recounting their holidays with each other. After a few more full or half full carriages Mylo found one that was empty and decided to sit down, they took out a sandwich that his dad James had made for him and started to eat it. He always got hungry when they were nervous.
He hadn't realized how much time they had spent just walking down the train and listening to the other kids talk about their lives and the upcoming school year, but it must have been at least 30 minutes as he felt the train start to move. As they started moving towards his new home for the next year he couldn't help but start to feel nervous again. Wondering to himself about how the next year was going to go he hoped that he would at least be able to make a new friend. As the train started moving into the countryside Mylo couldn't help but start to imagine the year ahead of him.

Sienna's breath was still heavy from rushing onto the platform after spending a bit too much time shopping in London. She was thankful to have made it in time, but was disappointed to see that so many of the carriages were already full. She thought there might be a group of Slytherins that she would be able to sit with, as her parents were both Slytherins, but there simply appeared to be no room anywhere.
As she walked down the aisle peering into each glass window, she wondered if it would be the same once she got to Hogwarts. Would everyone already have friends? Would she be sitting alone for the next year? She sure hoped not.

After the train had left the station Mylo found themselves staring out of the window, looking at the countryside that raced passed them on their way to Hogwarts. He started daydreaming about the new school they were going to spend the next years of his life in. They wondered what classes would look like and how well he'd perform in them (He liked to do well in their classes), they also hoped that the school would have a nice library that he could sit in and just read a book in a cozy corner, not having to think about anything for a while.
While they were deep in thought about this new life they were going to have to adjust to he heard a voice ask "Hi, I'm Sienna, do you mind if I sit here? There isn't much space on the train." Mylo jumped a little as they had been so deep in thought he hadn't heard the door open and someone enter the carriage. Looking at the door there was a girl, Sienna they reminded themselves, she looked around his age he noted. Trying to compose themselves a little they nodded, 'Yeah, sure. There's plenty of room.' He noticed his hands start to sweat a little again and though to themselves 'There's nothing to be nervous about, she's just another student. Just don't say anything weird.'. 'I'm Mylo by the way'

At first, Sienna wasn't sure the student would respond, as they looked so lost in thought. But she let out a silent sigh of relief when they invited her inside. "Yeah, sure. There's plenty of room."
"Great thank you so much Mylo. It's nice to meet you, too." Sienna responded as she moved further inside the carriage and took a seat across from Mylo. She could tell he was a little nervous, but she was nervous too, and maybe they would feel better if they knew that, so she expressed her thoughts.
"Gosh, I'm nervous to make friends when we get to school. It was already so hard to find an open carriage, I just hope The Great Hall tables won't be as crowded." Before they responded, Sienna got lost in her own thoughts, or more like a daydream, about what having friends to run up to at those tables might be like. She saw herself getting up in the morning just to run to the Great Hall to have breakfast before a day of learning with her classmates. Hogwarts was simply the school of her dreams, and she just hoped that it would be as good as an experience as she had hoped for.

After Mylo had introduced themselves to Sienna she moved into the carriage, taking the seat opposite him. As she sat in her seat Mylo thought to himself 'Maybe try to make some small talk, that's what people normally do isn't it? Try not to scare her away though, make a good first impression. Maybe start with the view outside or something.' Wiping their hands on their trousers Mylo started to open his mouth, but before they could say anything Sienna beat him to it.
"Gosh, I'm nervous to make friends when we get to school. It was already so hard to find an open carriage, I just hope The Great Hall tables won't be as crowded."
'Thank everything, she's also nervous, I'm not the only one.' He thought to themselves. After speaking she seemed to drift off into her own thoughts, trying not to be too awkward Mylo responded.
'Yeah, I'm nervous too. And the train is very busy, it took me like 20 minutes to find an empty carriage, or at least one where I could sit.' 'Maybe ask her if you guys could sit together in the great hall! Then neither of you have to worry about awkwardly sitting next to people you don't know.' He thought to himself, maybe making friends wasn't go to be as hard as they thought.
'Here goes nothing' clearing their throat he nervously asked, 'Uhm, maybe we could sit together in the great hall? If you want to that is, you don't have to if you don't want to! I just thought we don't have to worry about sitting next to people we don't know? Again if you don't want to you can say no! They stumbled through their proposal wincing at how awkward it sounded, 'Great job dude, thought we weren't going to say anything weird, I hope I haven't scared her away. They thought to themselves, hoping he hadn't made everything weird.

Sienna was lost in her thoughts about making friends at Hogwarts when she heard Mylo answer. "Yeah, I'm nervous too. "Uhm, maybe we could sit together in the great hall? If you want to that is, you don't have to if you don't want to! I just thought we don't have to worry about sitting next to people we don't know? Again if you don't want to you can say no!"
Sienna smiled as they spoke, happy that they asked if she wanted to sit together. Obviously, it appeased her nerves. "Actually that sounds great!" She responded enthusiastically. Oh no, wait what if they thought I was coming on too strong. Better say something else.
"Sorry that was really enthusiastic. I mean that it sounds great because if we sit with other people, at least we would already know one an another and be able to talk more comfortably. So thank you." Sienna could tell that she was rambling, and it was obviously the nerves talking. But it seemed like Mylo understood where she was coming from, so she continued. "So...just curious, what house do you think you'll be in?"

Trying not to backpedal and make things worse Mylo waited for Sienna to answer, hoping that she would. He started to look at her, having averted their eyes trying to calm themselves down a bit, and noticed that she was smiling 'This is good, she isn't weirded out, well done' he thought to himself. Finding themselves also quite happy that they found someone to sit with who was open to talking with them.
"Actually that sounds great!" She says immediatly following it with "Sorry that was really enthusiastic. I mean that it sounds great because if we sit with other people, at least we would already know one an another and be able to talk more comfortably. So thank you." He reminded themselves that she was also nervous and probably was rambling too and thought 'just tell her you don't mind enthusiasm' "You weren't too enthusiastic, just the right amount" 'very nice, just the right amount, what a comforting thing to say' he sarcastically says to themselves.

Sienna was internally slapping her forehead for being really enthusiastic, but Mylo responded calmly. "You weren't too enthusiastic, just the right amount." Oh that's good, she thought. She was half kidding though, as his unreadable expression implied that he was thinking too, maybe even about how annoying she was being, first barging into the carriage uninvited and now being overly happy.
They continued speaking though, breaking her train of thought. "I'm happy you want to sit together, and I'm not really sure what house I will be in. I tried looking the school up online to figure out what houses they had and such but couldn't find anything, they'll probably explain it when we get there though! I hope. You seem to know about it though! Which one do you think you'll be in?"

"Well yes, Hogwarts isn't exactly the type of place to have a website with information available to the public, as helpful as that would be. But you're right, we should find out everything when we get there, from what my parents have told me. They were both Slytherin, so I have a feeling I might be too. But I don't mind if I end up anywhere else."

After Mylo had asked which house she would be in Sienna was grinning and seemed very happy, answering his question she told them about how it would be unlikely to find a website on Hogwarts, no matter how helpful it would be, and that she might be a Slytherin but didn't mind ending up anywhere else. That piqued their interest, curiously they asked "Is your house something that could be determined by which one your parents were in then, if they went at all?" They really had no idea about how everything was supposed to go at Hogwarts and as such Mylo was trying to get as much information as possible beforehand so that he could prepare themselves. "You said that your parents also went to Hogwarts? Do you mind telling me what you know, I'm kind of being thrown in the deep end here." Mylo asks nervously, never quite sure when he should stop asking questions. Looking out of the window he noticed that they were starting to get close to their destination, he was starting to get quite nervous about the prospect of going to this new school. Trying not to let it show to much they put their hands in his pockets to try and stop himself fidgeting too much and creeping Sienna out.

Once Sienna stopped rambling about her parents being in Slytherin and her thoughts about being sorted, Mylo asked her more questions. "Is your house something that could be determined by which one your parents were in then, if they went at all? "You said that your parents also went to Hogwarts? Do you mind telling me what you know, I'm kind of being thrown in the deep end here." She could tell they were curious and unsure about Hogwarts based on the questions he was asking.

She responded to their questions as best as she could, "I think you get chosen based on who you are, even if your parents went to Hogwarts. But I guess if you happen to be a lot like your parents then you would end up in the same house that they did."
