Capture the Flag Summer Camp Signups

It was a warm and cloudy night. Annabelle Wolfe sat by the window of the mess hall, hungrily devouring her supper. It was not quite as delicious as the food in the Great Hall, which had been magically tailored to her every whim. Yet there was always something special about camp food. Even though she could not have exactly what she wanted, Annabelle was entirely content with the fire-smoked hot dogs and various chips they provided her with. Besides, after a day of excitement and camp activities, Anna was ravenous.

Her leg shook under the table as she stared out the window with excitement. The sky was dark and full of clouds, but the bright disk in the sky still cast an eerie light over the grounds. It shone through the clouds, indicating to Annabelle just what sort of clouds they were. It won't rain... she thought. Perfect! Indeed, tonight would be the ideal night to carry out her plan. It was nice and cool outside, and The thrilled Gryffindor glanced down at her feet as she stuffed the last of her hot dog into her mouth. More specifically, she was looking at the burlap sack that lay between them.

It was a rather large bag. In fact, when it had finally arrived from her parents back in Blackpool, it had taken tree owls to carry it. She would have to do countless hours of extra chores to pay them back for this "special delivery", but if tonight went as planned it would be worth it. Brushing the crumbs from her hands, the eager girl peeked inside. Hundreds of small plastic tubes glinted back at her, their cloudy appearance akin to the clouds outside. Some were filled with what appeared to be clear liquid, while others were filled with pink chemicals. Yet when the clear glowsticks were bent, Annabelle knew that they would turn a brilliant royal blue. The pink ones would likewise turned to red.

Annabelle had always loved glowsticks. When she was a child, they had seemed like magic to her. All you had to do was bend them and they would start to glow stunning colors. A lot of her fellow students inhabited a world of real magic though, so she did not expect them to be impressed with the tiny Muggle devices. Still, they would serve her purposes.

She scanned the Mess Hall, watching the other campers as she ate. She wondered just how many would want to join in on her little game. Hopefully quite a few as she'd put quite a bit more thought into this than into most things that she did. She'd even come up with Team names based on the constellations that would be in each teams side of the sky tonight. Annabelle had discussed this with a few people before, and they had been thrilled by the idea. Hopefully they were here now. One had been a fellow prefect who had seemed quite excited by the concept. She had also brought it up to a couple of her friends from the previous semester, and on an interesting whim, had even invited a girl whom she had never met before. All had seemed eager to play.

Annabelle stood, ready to make her announcement. She spoke as loudly and boldly as she could (which was quite loud indeed). "Hey, anybody up for Capture the Flag?"

Rules:

-Players will be divided into two teams. Each team will have 5 Attackers and 5 Defenders (including a captain for each)

-Team Leo will control the East Half of the Campgrounds (Port-A-Potty, Great Lakes, Cabins: {Augurey, Kelpie, Basilisk, Hippogriff, Occamy}, Mess Hall, and Divination Hut)

-Team Virgo will control the West Half (Washrooms, Forbidden Forest, Cabins: {Unicorn, Phoenix, Thestral, Lethifold, Inferius}, Playground, Nurse's Station, and Herbology Hut)

-The Bonfire is Middle Ground. And player who passes it will be considered in enemy territory.

-Players are not to enter the buildings (except for the bathrooms if you really need to go). They may be used as cover.

-Each team's Defenders will be given a flag decorated with glowsticks of that team's color. These are to be hung somewhere where they are visible for at least twenty feet and are easily accessible to any players. After a place is chosen, the Defending team is not to move the flag unless it is caught by a member of the other team and returned.

-Every player will also be given a set of glowsticks in their team's color. Two are to be made into bracelets (one for each wrist) and three are to be made into a necklace. Players must wear these at all times and they may not be covered. (This is for your own safety as we will be playing in the dark. It will also allow players to identify who is on their team.) Feel free to use extra glowsticks to make whatever accessories you want.

- Defenders must remain on their side of the campgrounds.

-If an Attacker is tagged by a Defender, they must return to their own flag before proceeding with the game. If they have an enemy flag when they are tagged, they must give it to the Defender who tagged them. That Defender can then place it anywhere on their side so long as the spot meets the original requirements.

-The first team to bring the enemy's flag over to their side wins.

-Spells and wands are allowed, but may not be used to intentionally endanger other players.

-Be safe and have fun!

NOTE: This thread is planned not just as a game, but as an adventure. At some point during the game, one of the groups will get lost in the forest. The others may go to search for them, but they will also have their own obstacles to deal with. I will owl the members of the team that will get lost to let you know who you are after signups. Don't worry, I'll be sure to keep it interesting no matter what team you are on! ^_^

This is not an official HiO adventure, so no stats or spells will be awarded. Let's not let that stop us from making it a great story though!
