AH, THANK GOD! The words crossed Juliet's mind the second that girl spoke, glad she didn't refuse her attempt at conversation. You know, some people would rather not be disturbed by strangers, especially when they were eating, and she could respect that. But being avoided on her first day would probably have crushed her spirit.

Juliet opened a small smile, listening to what this girl had to say, glancing at the food once again. Her stomach growled a little, tempted by the eggs and slices of bread, but the anxiety didn't help at all.

"It looks really great, but I don't think I can eat right now..." Juliet explained, shoulders going up in embarrassment, keeping her hands to herself over her lap. Every other student enjoyed their breakfast happily, and on any other occasion, her nose would touch the place with how much she loved eating. But not today. Maybe later - if her first lesson went ok.

"I don't know," Juliet replied to the girl's offer of help, feeling a bit ridiculous because she didn't know what to say. But she's been to this school before - she must understand what Juliet was going through. "It's my first day, so I'm very nervous about everything. How did... your first day go?... I'm Juliet, by the way,"

WHILE THE GIRL'S genuine care was welcome (and it made her feel a lot less awkward), Juliet merely shook her head in response. It's fine. She could eat later. Her father packed some snacks for her in her trunk, afraid the girl wouldn't be fond of "wizard food," if that was even a thing, so, if it came down to that point, she'd rush back to the Gryffindor common room to grab something.

The girl's words were comforting, and Juliet nodded along to everything she said. Her anxiety lingered, but it was manageable for now.

She's right. If she really needed help, the professors would help - they wouldn't let a student wander around not knowing what to do, and they wouldn't be mean, right? Juliet wasn't the only witch raised by muggles trying to adapt to this brand-new world. Maybe she'd get used to it quickly - who knows? She might make a lot of friends this week, and soon, Hogwarts would become her second home, as Linda said.

"Pleased to meet you, Linda. Thank you for your words... I was about to explode with all of -" Juliet motioned to the Great Hall, glancing at the talkative students, and professors. "This..."

Accepting Linda's offer, Juliet grabbed her schedule in her pocket. Her eyes canned through it, finger stopping by the name of her first lesson of the day. "Um, do you know where Potions class is?"

LINDA'S UNDERSTANDING WORDS reminded Juliet of her father. Awwww. Oliver was a very present figure in his life, even at times when work drained all of his energy. The man made an effort to listen to her and to understand what she was going through. It's easy for parents to forget they were once kids, too, after all. So, Linda got to her, in a way.

The first year felt a little mushy on the inside, as she could hear her father saying those exact words to her, running his fingers through her hair. She's been two days away from home, and already missed them dearly.

Juliet jutted out of her bottom lip, furrowing her thick brows, feigning a sad expression. She wasn't sad, really - but she enjoyed acting cutesy, making little faces like that from time to time. It's good to be around people who experienced or were experiencing similar things to her. Now, her inner turmoil didn't seem that bad. It felt... manageable. Fortunately, Linda was from the same House as her, albeit a different year, which comforted Juliet in knowing they'd see each other regularly around the common room.

"Oh, I'd appreciate it if you could take me there. I don't want to get lost, and arrive late on my very first day," Juliet said, rubbing her hands against her arm under the cloak.

She didn't know how strict Hogwarts professors could be when it came to tardiness, and frankly, she didn't want to be the one example for the rest of the class. Did they have detentions? Most likely. The mere thought of wizard detention made the hairs on her arm go up.

JULIET SHOOK HER HEAD once again, ready to go straight to class. But because she didn't want to rush Linda, she stayed perfectly still. The first year's jumped around the different students, careful not to linger for too long, as it's awkward to watch people while they ate.

"Oh," Linda's question got her by surprise. Juliet hummed, tilting her head to the side before she continued to answer her question. As she proceeded to talk, the girl relaxed enough to ignore the anxiety in her stomach. "I really like cats, bunnies, and puppies, those big, fluffy ones - what are they called? Ah, samoyed! I've always wanted to have one, but my father is really allergic, so I can't... What about you?"

Juliet had an affinity for animals. They liked her. She liked them. Her mother wasn't very fond of how messy they could be, and her father, well, as much as he liked them, he'd never be able to come back from work without an allergic reaction. He hadn't had the chance to meet her pet yet, but Juliet would make sure to keep them as far away from him as possible - just in case.

"Yeah, I do," She continued, getting up from the Gryffindor table. A couple of other students collected their things as well, ready to go, so she didn't feel bad for leaving early. "My mum makes the greatest chocolate pie ever,"
