Here is my opinion:
We have many different houses, but no student belongs to them, say, we have
1. Wand-related Magic: Charms, Transfiguration, DADA, Wandlore....
2. Herb-related Magic: Potions, Herbology...
3. Broom-related Magic: Broomology, Flying...
4. Book-related Magic: HoM, Ancient Runes...
5. Telescope-related Magic: Astronomy Astrology, Alchemy...
6. Prophecy-related Magic: Divination, Arithmancy...
7. Animals-related Magic: CoMC, Drangonology, Language Arts(a study of languages)
8. Muggle-related Magic: Muggle Studies

Practical potions and other potions should be separate, Wiggenweld vs Felix for example, so maybe practical potions as a class and impractical potions for elective or as a gift for good students
