The Great Hall is a large room with four long tables where students of each House sit during the day and at mealtimes. A majestic enchanted ceiling that mirrors the outside weather is watching over people in the room.
When you just pass the door from the Entrance Hall, Gryffindor table is next to the far side of the Hall. You have to walk past all three other tables to get to sit with the Lions. Maybe you will be able to eat and if you're very lucky you might even catch a glimpse of Nearly Headless Nick.
This is an RPG topic where all students are welcome to post. All RPG rules apply. Word count per post is 200 words, not including quotes, OOC chat or other people's words. Any flood type of message will be deleted and a warning owl is sent.

The Gryffindor Table 2023-2024
Jace was a nervous wreck as he found a spot at the Gryffindor table. It wasn't that the sorting ceremony had gone...badly. Or anything. Sure he'd nearly passed out twice, and had three panic attacks in the span of half as many minutes. But he was...with the 'red ones' now. Where he was supposed to be. He hoped.
Jace took a shaky breath, tugging at the collar of his robe. It was too hot, far, far too hot. His hands worried at the cutlery in front of him. There was no food on the tables as of yet, something he was grateful for. Who knew what weird things wizards ate? He was picturing frogs and snails and all kinds of unsavory things. Fairies too, if The Owl House was any indication.
The boy gagged, looking a little green as he slipped the nearest knife in his palm, and began to fidget with it. If any other first years were nearby, he hoped they at least knew where they were going. The chances of finding anything anywhere in the castle were very, very slim. Slim to none in fact. Jace clasped his hands in his lap and waited, his foot bouncing.

The Gryffindor Table 2023-2024
Another year at Hogwarts, which meant, new people. Hannah was excited for the new people, first years. She down at the Gryffindor table. And looked up, to see all the other tables filled with students. Slytherin with Slytherin, Ravenclaw with Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff with Hufflepuff and her own house with Gryffindor. Of course the houses would sit together. It was a tradition, especially on the first night.
A year ago, she felt ashamed of her own house, but now, that was in the past, she was very proud of her house, and if someone did feel the same way... she would try and convince them otherwise. If not, that was fine.
Hannah also had seen a tutoring club, which she signed up for, as a tutor and learner, so maybe she could tutor some new students too.
The sorting ceremony would begin soon, and the first years would soon enter the hall. Hannah was pretty hungry, so she hoped the Sorting Hat wouldn't take too long to sort all the new students. She knew very well how it felt to be new. Nervous is how most of them felt, probably.
Then, the first years arrived, she also wondered if any of the new Gryffindor girls would be in her dormitory, Wampus Wing. She hoped so. Always space for more people right?
Then, the ceremony began. Hannah observed as the Sorting Hat picked each house for the students.

The Gryffindor Table 2023-2024
Keith walked into the great hall after the train ride, smiling and happy to be back in the magical castle. he had missed the amazing views and wonderful things about the castle over the summer. He also missed the food. He made his way over to the Gryffindor table, sitting down near the rest of the Second years. He looked around for anyone he might know, upon seeing no one he knew yet, Keith sat quietly, and waited for someone to talk to him. Anyone who knew Keith knew he didn't know how to start conversations with new people. Keith watched as the first years were sorted, clapping quietly each time, only clapping a little louder when one was sorted into his house.
Keith waited longer, hoping one of his friends would talk to him, and hoping he'd get the chance to talk to the boy who had took his first kiss last year. Keith wanted to spend more time with the boy, but he'd wait and see what would happen.
"I'm so excited for this year! everything is gonna be so fun! i'm gonna learn so much. and i can draw and read more books from the wonderful library they have here." Keith thought to himself as he watched the sorting.Wc: -212- Interacting with: Mentioning:

INTERACTION: OPEN.
RESPONDING TO: NOONE.
YEAR: FIRST.
'It was about time' the first year thought to themselves as they heard their name being called for sorting. They quickly ran up and waited as the hat fell onto their head.
No one had heard what was discussed inside of Geoxeiel's head but it wasn't long before the sorting hat had yelled out the house. And,of course, it was Gryffindor. Now,I say of course because of their recklessness but it came to a shock for Geoxeiel. They hopped off as they heard the clapping and rushed to the Gryffindor table, slightly flushed from the excitement. They were the quiet type at first so they gave a few waves and smiles at their other fellow Gryffindors. They adrenaline was wearing off so the first year decided to focus on their future and the excitement of the year at Hogwarts: They didn't dare to become tired before the ceremony was over!! They pulled out their wand, which was a bit long for them at a whopping 31.4 Cm. It was Cherry wood(which was really pretty) and it had a core of a Phoenix feather. They remembered being told by Ollivander that it was a slighty powerful wand but required to be firmly handled and expects conviction....whatever that meant. They remembered being told it was inflexible so they tried to be a bit careful with it. Despite being mostly raised by their witch mother, they didn't dare to try any spells. Their father was a muggle and it was believed that Geoxeiel would be too..
they smiled as they looked up at the ceremony. They were glad that they had magic. They were glad to have their wand and this opportunity to be at Hogwarts.
Who knows what the future had in store..

Sere approached one of the long tables farthest from the entrance calmly. She doesn't look as enthusiastic as some of the other first years. Sere's eyes were targeting a place in the middle from the beginning. Why? Because there are roasted chicken and mashed potatoes served there! Those two combinations are what the obsidian-eyed girl loved the most.
Wow! Finally! The aroma is so tempting. In her mind, Sere says various things that makes her stomach even more hungry and ready to eat. The girl fed herself mashed potatoes and bit a bite of roasted chicken. She exclaimed happily in her heart, but keep her expression flat.
Sere's focus seemed to only be on the food, the girl doesn't mind the glances of several students who occasionally directed at her. I'll get to know them later, introducing myself maybe? The crowd does not suddenly become quiet while everyone is eating, some students laughing loudly and joking, others are telling stories about their experiences during the holidays.
Sere also heard some talks about… ghosts. Ghost? Why are they talking about it so passionately? Sere is a little bit surprised. It is subsided when Sere heard further that each house has a resident ghost who can be "friend", and Gryffindor's one is the one that wears medieval courtier-style clothing. Sere also heard the name some students mentioned: Nearly Headless Nick. He often partially-separated his head from his body and told stories about his past with pride. Also a warning not to be late for class if you don't want to hear Sir Nicholas babbling about his life experiences all the way until the student reaches the class. Interesting. I think I will encounter a lot more new things in this school.

she faced the girl now, seeming like a first year. ella-margaux? huh, i thought thats what i heard when they called you. ella? elle? marg? what should i call you? call me reese though. she replied a bit more straightforward and with confidence and pleasure in her voice.
she was thinking deep into how she became a gryffindor, rather than a slytherin with her wild and ambitious resourceful spirit. but she realized what she valued truely was bravery and daringness. what did you expect youd be? i thought of myself as a snek. she muttered not completely to the girl itself. she grinned, showing off her sparkling teeth as her choppy sand hair swished around in two loose braids.

The ceremony was grand and the applause was intense. The shock and awe still hadn't worn off when she reached the table, garnering waves, pats on the shoulder, and more cheers. She returned the gestures with a combination of a smile and waves of appreciation of her own, looking for a place to seat herself. After her eyes did some quick scanning, she saw some space available next to another first year.
What was her name, again...Geo-something, quite the unique name. she thought as she nestled down, giving a few final waves and nods in acknowledgment. From all the readings in their family's libraries, she couldn't recall seeing anyone from the Gryffindor House, but there was always a first somewhere. As she sat, she noticed a few things about her fellow first year; she noted their dark blue eyes that were heavily accented against their freckled complexion, brought out even more by their gelled hair. The blonde streaks were a nice touch as well.
"Hi, I'm Isabelle," she said as she made herself comfortable, "A pleasure to meet a fellow first-year. By the way, I like what you've done with your hair." She couldn't keep the compliment to herself.
She was slightly awkward with what others might consider innocuous small-talk, but she truly meant what she had said. "Is that Cherry Wood? Quite the wand you've got yourself." She spoke genuinely, giving the girl a grin, as she brought up her own smaller wand. Her mother had that kind of wand, so the wood was easily recognizable to her.
From what she could recall from her readings, Cherry Wood wands have the potential to create a wand of strange power. When she had inquired about it, to her father, she was told that such wands are most highly prized by the wizarding students of the school of Mahoutokoro, in Japan; Apparently, those who own cherry wands have special prestige. It didn't make all that much sense to her, but she recalled reading about their Cherry Blossom Trees, so she was able to somewhat connect the dots. What she did know about those wands, though, was that cherry wood often makes a wand that possesses truly strong magic, whatever the core may be.
Ever the sponge for knowledge, she naturally asked the next question. "What's the core?"
