Ironically, sports was kind of becoming Alma’s thing. Her acceptance into the Hufflepuff dueling captains was a nice surprise, and she honestly couldn’t believe they had given her the chance. A first-year with no prior dueling experience? No shot. But here she was, ready to moderate her first duel.
In contrast to the windy outdoors of the Quidditch pitch or the Outdoor club, the Dueling club was a cozy space, fit for anyone looking to throw some spells at an opponent. Speaking of, it was time to call today’s duelists to the stage. “Alright alright!” she shouted. “May I please have todays duelists take their places on the piste!”
She waited for them to take their places and get comfortable. She then gave an encouraging thumbs up to either duelist on the stage. “Everybody ready? Alright, let’s begin!”

Ravenclaw vs. Gryffindor: Match 1
Beatrice was slightly nervous coming into this match. It would be her first true duel on the team, not minding 'practice' with the snakes or participating in Summer Games. Butterflies flitted in her stomach, and as she walked up to the piste that morning she quietly prayed to all deities that this would go well.
Waiting for her teammate, a younger boy by the name of Oliver, Bea regarded her opponents. She'd never met any of them, and this unknown caused a certain amount of anxiety in her chest. How would they all be on the duelling field? Smiling politely, Bea nodded her head as they arrived and offered a warm "Good luck!" as they began.

Ravenclaw vs. Gryffindor: Match 1
Amaris Levine
Picking at her nails, Amaris entered the Dueling Club. Her first official match and she could only pray that it would go well. She could feel the weight of her wand in a pocket of her robe, polished yesterday night and her only weapon in this duel. Her gaze wandered around as she took a deep breath, attempting to calm the nervousness she was feeling right now.
Her duelling partner was Taizu, someone Amaris hadn’t talked to much but someone she knew had already participated in a few duels. She was also unfamiliar with her opponents though she knew one of them was a second year prefect and the other a first year. Taking her place, she readied herself. “Thanks, good luck to you as well.” the girl replied as one of her opponents spoke up. She would take all the luck she could get.

Taizu really wasn't looking forward to another duel. I mean, last time he had lost control of his emotions and gone completely insane. It was... Jarring. And yet, it was soothing.
Stepping up onto the stage, Taizu bowed politely towards his opponents, and said, "May the best of us win." Unsheathing his wand, Taizu readied himself for his second duel.
"Oh Gods, I set the water on fire again."

As soon as the duel began, spells started flying everywhere. Beatrice, the second-year Ravenclaw, went for Amaris first, hitting her with the classic dancing spell - one of Alma’s favorites. She watched in slight amusement as the Gryffindor began breaking out into an irish jig, feet tapping like they’ve been taking lessons for years.
The gryffindor team seemed set on cracking Oliver, the first-year on the Ravenclaw team. The poor guy couldn’t catch a break as the first spell was thrown at him. He dodged, and the next spell came shooting towards him; this one very powerful. Apparently, he was so busy dodging Gryffindor’s spells that he forgot to cast one of his own. Alma furrowed her brow as she awaited what might happen next.

Ravenclaw vs. Gryffindor: Match 1
Bea nodded at the both of them in thanks for the returned pleasantry. Just as well. Manners and good sportsmanship were something that was insisted upon with Bea. She may not adhere to them all the time, but she tried.
Her practice and instincts on point, she was able to cast the first spell and she watched as her spell hit Amaris full on. Laughter filled her and burst forth in delight as she watched the other girl start to perform a jig. She'd come to dislike the Tarantallegra spell in the last few months, but only when it was being performed on her. She'd had it cast on her two days in a row back in February and was now weary of it. Bea had to admit though, it was a great spell against an opponent.
Even better when it was part of the reason why they missed the action. That or her partner Oliver was just that damned good. She turned to glance at Oliver, checking the the first year was alright. "You okay there Oliver? You got some good reflexes!"

Ravenclaw vs. Gryffindor: Match 1
Amaris Levine
Watching as they cast the spell, Amaris hoped that it would hit her target. She didn’t have much time to dwell on this as a spell hit her, one that she saw a bit too late to manoeuvre her way around. Beginning to wonder what spell she was hit with, the side effects became apparent. Her legs seemed to move on their own, performing some sort of folk dance with erratic movements. How was she going to cast a spell like this? Thankfully, at least Oliver didn’t cast a spell. However, it was still humiliating, her team was at an obvious loss currently, unable to land a single spell.
A light scowl appeared on her face as she realised Oliver had dodged both spells cast at him. Clenching her wand tighter, Amaris hoped that the effects of the spell would end sooner rather than later.

Taizu had felt it again. That exhilaration that never quite showed itself in anything other than Duelling. The energy he felt going through him as he would cast a spell that sparked into a raging inferno, one that would unfortunately miss it's target. A shame that had happened. He'd have to make sure the next attack hit.

Beatrice continued her streak of casting beautiful spells by hitting Amaris once again, this time with the second (and stronger) fire-making spell. It seemed the hit angered the girl, seeing as she got right back up and took that anger out on Bea’s teammate, Oliver. He unfortunately wasn’t able to dodge his way out of this one, getting hit with Amaris’s Flipendo.
It seems Oliver’s odd strategy had gotten to Taizu now aswell, seeing as they both seemed too preoccupied with their teammates casting skills to cast their own spells. Alma let out a sigh of anticipation for the next round.

Ravenclaw vs. Gryffindor: Match 1
Amaris Levine
The match was spell after spell, as intense as Amaris had hypothesized. Another spell hit her, causing her to grit her teeth; she needed to work on her dodging. However, her own spell hitting Oliver served as consolation. Notcing the lack of a spell from her teammate, she furrowed her eyebrows, confused. “You good?” she asked, glancing at Taizu.
