Oliver was planning to finish the last of his homework for history of magic that he had been shoving aside as the deadline grew closer. He had to turn it in tomorrow so he had to do it now. What better place to study but the library he thought. He grabbed his stuff and headed to the library. He was determined to stay focus and finish his work. He tried to avoid familiar faces to avoid long conversations that would take up time. When he entered he started looking for a seat. Too loud. He thought as he past a row of chair. The other is too quiet I can’t think in total silence he thought. Finally he had found a row of chairs where there was just enough noise, not too much but not too little either. He sat down next to a girl he faintly recognized in the Ravenclaw dormitories. He had also met her in the great hall. Ebony Vetra was her name. “Hey. Mind if I sit here?” he wispered to her as to not to disturb others. He took a seat and started doing his essay. But as normal his brain started to lose focus. He focused mostly on the sketch that Ebony was working on. “What are ya drawing there?” he whispered again completely forgetting about the deadline that was right around the corner.

Ebony looked up from her "homework", shoving the drawing aside.

"Um, I was drawing the library. I was just bored, you know. Homework is supposed to be due next class but I just can't focus. It's always like this, everyone is so busy. And then there's social life to cope with..." she rambled on, frantic at being caught drawing, off task.

She didn't really like other students knowing about her liking art, because it didn't seem much of her thing at first glance, being shy, cold and all, but it was her greatest passion.

She couldn't recall the boy's name, unsure if he had ever told her. He seemed familiar -- then Ebony recalled from the back of her mind that he was the boy from the great hall.

In the middle of things, he also asked whether or not he could sit, but before she could answer, he already sit down, beating her to it. She was about to say yes, anyway.

Ebony wondered if it seemed rude to ask, but she asked anyway, "I'm sorry, what's your name, again? I know we've met before, but I don't have a particularly good memory," she explained, still quite sure the boy had never mentioned his name.

She asked him his name. She said she forgot. In response, he said “Its alright! Im forgetful too! Im Oliver! In fact, the pen that I am using, is my back up backup of my backup pen! Hehe!” he gestured to his pen. He shook his head “I should really focus on my work! No offense but I kind of can’t afford to not finish this… the due date is right around the corner.” he said. He hoped she understood. People often thought this as he was trying to avoid them. He did usually try to avoid socialization, but he did need friends, he was practically alone in Hogwarts. He thought it wouldn’t hurt to socialize. He needed someone to have his back. “Very nice drawing!” he remarked. Once he finished his work he got up and ran up to his dorm. Saying “Gotta get something” to Ebony. He came back after a while with his art materials. He sat down beside her. He hoped she didn’t think he was weird. He wasn’t really good at socializing. Nothing really now that he thought about it. He started sketching the mountain sides, he used to go there every morning with his dad to look at the sunrise. At this thought, he smiled.

Ebony huffed out a laugh at the mention of his backup of his backup of his backup pen. It was something that a normal person wouldn't have, but Ebony could relate. After all, she did always have a pen in her pocket, admittedly.

"Well, that's good to know Oliver," she said, relieved to finally know the name of this "mysterious" boy whom had suddenly started appearing so much in her life.

When he mentioned he had homework, she said, "yeah, procrastination is never good," she laughed, "I have homework myself; I'm not even half done, but I'm just too bored to continue. Thankfully it's due next week. The load of homework is terribly heavy. You're a first year, am I right?"

He then ran off to the dorm, seeming in a hurry, after complimenting her drawing. She wanted to say thanks, but he was already off, so she went back to working on her drawing and essay, rotating between both in an attempt to multitask.

When he came back, he was holding art materials. "Oh, you like art too! That's amazing," she remarked when she saw what he was drawing. She quickly wrote a summary for the essay and joined him in drawing, starting a new one.

Oliver was glad to that someone else shared the same hobby with him. Most people found it weird. Why a muggle hobby? They would say. He enjoyed painting since it was fairly simple. He took a while to Sketch the main look but since he had been there so many times, it felt like he was holding a picture. Next he outlined the mountains and trees with his favorite blue pen. “How long have you been drawing?” he asked the ravenclaw as he outlined. While he finished outlining he wondered if she had gone to art school or something since he used to. Wondering about this he started to color some areas with his color pencil. But even doing this he could cause a scene. He pushed off his color pencil container accidentally off the table but luckily, he was capable of catching it. Thank god it was closed he thought. He didn’t want to make another scene like the- erm great hall incident. Now it was time to color using water color paint. Water and Oliver didn’t go together. Within 5 seconds, ( usually ) it would no longer be in a container but on the floor or table or on him. He was extra careful as to avoid embarrassing himself and getting scolded at by the librarian. He spent around, 1 hour before he had finally finished it. “Thats not right.” he said looking at his painting. “Something usually spills all over it. Looks like luck is on my side I guess. If only it was like this everyday.” he said having a short chuckle. He shaded it in then he finished his drawing. A drawing of the mountains and the trees surrounding it. ”So… what do you think?” he asked showing her his painting while trying to see how far she had gotten with hers.

Ebony just drew whatever came to her mind, and that was Oliver, who was sitting just right next to her. She drew his face, his hair, his eyes, trying to make it look realistic and similar to how the real Oliver looked. It looked decent as a drawing of a human being, but somehow it didn't really look like him. Ah well, maybe she got the cheekbones wrong. And his hair was a bit more curly. She erased parts of the drawing and tried again. A bit better, but it started to look a bit like some random Hufflepuff she saw at the Great Hall that morning. Frustrated, she erased and added and erased and added, but nothing satisfied her. This drawing, it certainly wasn't her best. Oliver asked her how long she had been drawing. "I don't know. I didn't really keep count, but I've been drawing since I was really little. I just fell in love with it -- the one thing that didn't bully me," she laughed bitterly at the memory. When Oliver showed her his drawing, she gaped, mouth open. "Wow," Ebony breathed, "that's beautiful! It's so much better than mine." She showed him her drawing of him and grimaced. A while after that, a girl showed up. She was unfamiliar to Ebony, which meant she was probably not in her year and in a different house. Gryffindor? She introduced herself as Lily Brown. "Hi Lily," she smiled, "I'm Ebony." Sweet, her introductions were just getting smoother and smoother. She grinned confidently. Lily then started colouring. Ebony loved colouring, though not as much as drawing. There was still space left on the paper, so she started to draw Lily's face on it as well. It came out a little better than Oliver's; Ebony was more experienced on drawing girls.

Oliver, usually was usually picked on when he showed people his drawings. But Ebony’s reaction caught him off guard. She thought it was beautiful! “Wait, really? You are the first person to actually say something nice about my drawings!” he said. He looked at her drawing. She wasn’t sure who she was drawing but it was very clear that it was a portrait of a person. He said, Thats really good! I just think you could improve it more if there was more shading and colors!”. He saw potential in her. “If you want, I can offer you lessons! For free! No interest.” he said jokingly. At that moment a girl, red head walked in. He recognized her as the Gryffindor he had met in this library. “Hiya Lily!” he said to her as she sat down. She was a bit quiet but he didn’t mind. It was the library anyways! He grabbed a new piece of paper and started drawing. ”Is it alright if I draw you?” he asked Ebony. He had only drew a portrait of his father. He couldn’t get honest truth about what he thought about it since his dad would say everything he made would look nice even if it didn’t.

Ebony smiled. She wasn't exaggerating or anything, Oliver's drawing was actually good, but he took it as if nobody had ever complimented him before. Ebony wasn't sure if that was true, because if seemed impossible not to compliment his art.

Not that she would ever criticise anybody's drawing. All art was beautiful in its own way. Even her drawing of Oliver, which... she could tell nobody knew was him.

"It's for real really good," she said. When Oliver offered her lessons, she laughed and replied, not knowing if he was serious or not, "thanks, but it's alright. And- this is you, could you not tell?" she chuckled, adding a few more lines to the drawing, "Drawing boys really isn't my forte at all."

She grinned at their conversation. Art was her favourite thing to do, and her favourite thing to talk about.

She continued her drawing of Lily, shading in her auburn hair. It looked a fair bit better than her drawing of Oliver now. She decided to add more shading as Oliver said to do to her drawing of him, but she didn't have any colour pencils so she didn't colour anything in; she only shaded things in with the various shades of grey. She didn't use any ink, either.

When Oliver asked if he could draw her, she smiled. "Of course!" she said, continuously shading.

Her wrist was getting tired but she didn't mind. The drawing was slowly getting to look like Oliver, and Ebony felt a hint of pride coming from inside her. She had never successfully drawn a boy before, so her spirits lifted quite a bit. Not that she was feeling down before, but her feelings felt even better now.
