Ciel was definitely not nervous about going to Hogwarts. Nope. Nada. Not one bit. Definitely not slightly anxious about going to a huge castle in the middle of nowhere, and learning 'magic'. Okay, maybe she was a little nervous.
The car ride to the train station wasn't too long, thankfully, and she was able to have a good chat with her family. They talked about all the things she would be able to do, and all of her brothers held Ginger Ale at least once. Ciel pretended not to notice her mother tearing up when they exited the car.
The only thing that took her mind off of the weird situation they were in, was the weird entering of Platform 9¾. But once they got in with their trolley, all the nerves peaked back up. How could she go a whole school year only seeing her family once or twice? She was already missing Pottage and the rest of the cats back home. At least she had Ginger Ale.
The tearful goodbyes seemed to not last too quickly, and suddenly she was on the train. She was more than thankful for only having one carry-on. Trying to navigate the narrow train with just her satchel alone was difficult. Not to mention, there were so many kids there already.
Despite the train already being rather packed, Ciel was able to find a compartment that was vacant. When she finally was able to sit down and look at the train station, she found herself feeling more at ease. To no surprise, Ginger Ale seemed to enjoy looking outside as well. Alright then, maybe this train ride wouldn't be so bad.

A Train-y Day
Scared and nervous would probably be the best ways to describe Wren in his current situation. He had been somewhat dreading this moment all week and the fact that it was finally here certainly didn’t help matters. Sure he would get to go to an amazing school were he would get to learn magic and see new exciting magical things but all he could really think about was the the amount of new people he would have to face and the complete and utter lack of familiarity. He would have to meet all new classmates, memorize all new routes, and find all new comfort places to sit and do things.
His father did his best to comfort him on the way to the train but it only made it worse to be fair. He would have to be away from his dad, which while he didn’t get to see his dad very much anyway, now he would see his dad even less than before. He felt bad that his dad would have to be by himself in the house for most of the year, even if he could write letters. Letters really weren’t quite the same as seeing him in person.
They eventually arrived at the station and somehow made it through to the actual platform despite the confusing directions and number of people around. Clutching his bags tightly to his chest he and his father exchanged somewhat teary goodbyes and a hug. It took almost all of his strength to pull away from the hug but with a deep breath and a determined look on his face he made his way towards the train.
He did his best pulling his bags behind him, hoping he remembered to pack everything and that he wouldn’t lose anything important. Trudging through and avoiding the large groups of student on the train, he did his best to find a compartment that wasn’t already packed full. At one point, he had almost convinced himself that he would just have to sit outside of one one the compartments when he came across one that only held one occupant. He carefully and lightly knocked on the door, opening ever so slightly just so he could peek his head in. Inside he found a young girl that looked to probably be about the same age as him with semi-dark blond hair and with her an animal companion. In his rather thick Irish accent he cleared his throat a little and did his best to not sound as nervous as he actually was, ““Um… hello um… I was wondering if I could sit in here with you. All the other compartments i’ve found are pretty full so I just wanted to make sure if it was alright with you if I sat in here?”

Ginger Ale makes for a good companion, Ciel thought. Her rat found every inch of the compartment more interesting than the last and was good at keeping her spirits up. This was one good thing about being alone.
But solitude shouldn't last forever, and a knock to the compartment door alerted Ciel to that fact. She quickly scooped her rat up so nobody would step on him and turned her attention to the door. A boy much shorter than her stood upright with a nervous expression on his face.
"Um… hello um… I was wondering if I could sit in here with you."
She blinked in surprise, almost quirking an eyebrow. She didn't know the rest of the compartments were so full already! Sure, she had seen quite a few with three or four people, but surely, she wasn't the only one who was by herself? Ah, that was no worry. After all, Ciel didn't mind sharing her little space with someone else.
"Sure! Take a seat," she quickly showed off her rat. "This is Ginger Ale, he's a gray rat. I got him when I was shopping for school supplies- which I did mostly by myself." She sat the little guy back down on her lap as she offered a smile to the other boy. "Oh golly, I should introduce myself, huh? I'm Ciel Saskia. I'm a first year, are you one as well? I'm a 'muggle-born' so I don't really know much about this whole situation going on. It's so wacky!"

The girl turned rather quickly to him as he said this and with a rather surprising amount of energy said it was fine for him to sit. As he somewhat awkwardly slid into the compartment with his bags and sat down, the girl introduced her rat and herself as Ginger Ale and Ciel Saskia which he waved slightly at the little gray rat she held. She apparently was the same age as him and apparently was pretty much in the same boat as him being a ‘muggle-born’ or whatever people called them.
"Oh well um… it’s nice to meet you and uh Ginger Ale. I’m Wren uh… Wren Drewitt I’m a first year and I guess a muggle-born to as well.” He situated himself and his bags and sat across from Ciel, deciding that this was still probably better than sitting in a compartment with four other people or on the floor outside of one. He fidgeted slightly with one of his sleeves, bouncing his leg slightly still kinda nervous to this whole situation, at least Ciel seemed nice enough at the moment which wa certainly better than the alternative.
“Yeah I guess this whole magic school situation is kinda wacky, I mean… it’s a magic school which is kinda interesting I guess, it’s definitely a big school at least I mean… there seems like a lot of people...," he kinda trailed off, looking out the window hoping to do anything he possibly could to calm his nerves. He guessed that there were a lot of schools with a lot of students but he had definetly never gone to one of those schools. His school had always been pretty small and even then it was kinda overwhelming so the whole idea of a giant school definitely didn’t help.

"Ryuu..? Ryuu, where are you?" Daphne was beginning to get worried, she had been waiting for her brother to return after he had left their compartment to 'say hi to his friends'. Well, it looked like he wasn't coming back at all. Daphne couldn't blame him, he was a seventh year and had a bunch of friends, surely he wouldn't want to spend the entire trip with her. Daphne had her bags with her, the blonde-haired girl continuing to make her way through the train. She had a bunch of trolley treats in one of her bags, having about 5 chocoballs, 3 packs of jelly slugs, 6 marshmallow biscuits and some leftover pepper imps that her brother had left with her. How long was this train? Her legs were beginning to hurt and she was getting pretty upset as well. Daphne stopped walking and without knowing, leaned against one of the doors, only for it to slide open due to the weight of her body. She fell to the ground, but thankfully the luggage containing her clothes landed her fall. When she looked up, she saw two people, a blonde girl and a brunette boy with a white patch in his hair, sitting across from each other. Sitting up, Daphne rubbed the side lof her head, her cheeks flushed in embarrassment. "I'm so so sorry! I didn't mean to do that, honest!" What a bad first impression, she'd understand if they were mad.

Ciel could sympathize with Wren, she was from a small town too. Despite the fact that Windsor was pretty populated, she lived in a tiny corner of it. Even the biggest school had less than a thousand students.
"Yeah, I've never been to a super big school. It was so weird seeing so many people on the train!" Bumping into people left and right was definitely not the best first impression she had wanted to go with. She hadn't even really made friends yet, despite the fact that Ciel was incredibly extraverted and sociable. It was just too nerve-wracking!
Wanting to start another conversation with Wren, Ciel began speaking. "So, do you know about the houses and stuff here? I heard from a few older students-"
Bang!
Ciel jumped back at the sight of a young girl falling right into their compartment. Well, there goes her plans for talking to Wren. No time to dwell on that, though. Hopefully the girl wasn't too hurt! Ciel sat Ginger Ale on her satchel and quickly leaned down to help the girl stand up, ushering out a "are you okay?" as she did so.
She rested her hand over her heart and let out a sigh of relief. The girl didn't seem to be too hurt, so she didn't have to worry so much. In fact, the other girl didn't seem to have any malicious intentions, so she wasn't worried at all.
"Ah, jeez, you gotta be more careful!" Ciel sat back in her seat and placed Ginger Ale in her lap once more. Despite the loud intrusion, he seemed just fine. "Are you a first year too? I'm Ciel."

Wren nodded along to what Ciel had to say, trying his best to focus on her words but like usual, his mind went wandering. He supposed it probably wasn’t a big surprise that there were other students that had come from smaller schools as well and he definitely agreed it was weird seeing so many people on a train, he wasn’t actually entirely sure how so many people fit on the train but yet again it was probably like a magic train given it was taking them to a magic school. It did surprise him that Ciel seemed to be kinda weird about the whole situation too, given the fact that she definitely gave off the vibes of being very energetic and sort of thriving off of people, but yet again, being away from family was never easy especially if you were quite literally going to a place you had never been before.
He managed to catch her next question on if he knew anything about the supposed houses that Hogwarts had but before he could answer the door to the compartment slid open and the next thing he knew a girl came falling in with a loud "thud". He jumped slightly but what was fear quickly became worried for the mysterious blond girl who had fallen into the compartment. He went to help but saw Ciel has also already gotten up so he just awkwardly sat back down. Luckily the girl seemed to be alright or at least since Ciel had sat back down he figured she was probably alright. Daphne took both of their hands, carefully standing up and then releasing them in order to gather her things. "Thank you. I'm sorry that I scared you both. I was looking for my brother, he's a seventh year, he told me he was going to say hi to his friends but hasn't came back to our compartment in a while." She explained, mentioning his year in case they saw any male older year pass by. "I suppose it doesn't matter though, this train is pretty boring." She took a seat beside Ciel, leaning down in order to put the fallen packages of candy back in her bag. Daphne did this rather swiftly, ready to get up in case they didn't want her sitting here. "It's nice to meet you Ciel and Wren, I am a first year-well going to be once we are at Hogwarts. My name is Daphne Sapphirus, I'll be out of your hairs in a second." She said while giving them a sheepish smile. She was nervous not because of what had happened before, but due to the fact this was her first time actually meeting other students. Well, besides one girl at the ice cream place in Diagon Alley. It was then that Daphne gasped softly, noticing the rat on Ciel's lap. "Oh my gosh he's so cute! I love animals, my father is a dragonologist, I have a pet Hippogriff myself at home. Well, I consider him more of a companion considering he travels a lot, mainly with my father." She caught herself just in time before she'd start rambling. Daphne already assumed they knew what a dragonologist was, unaware that they were muggleborns.

Woah, this girl had a magical brother? That was so cool! A part of Ciel wished her brothers and parents were also wizards but another part wanted her to be grateful for her ability. While the idea was cool, just thinking about Dion and Beaux being at the same school Ciel was for 10 months at a time was not at all appealing.
"I mean, if your brother isn't coming to your compartment, you can hang out with us for a while," Ciel offered. "I'd like to make some new friends before the school year starts- er- if that's okay with you, Wren." She didn't want to make the other boy uncomfortable by inviting Daphne to spend the train ride with the two of them.
When Daphne showed interest in Ginger Ale, Ciel was quick to hold him up like he was on display. He was just too cute; she couldn't help herself!
"Oh my gosh he's so cute! I love animals, my father is a dragonologist, I have a pet Hippogriff myself at home."
Oh boy, lots of words Ciel did not understand. A "dragonologist"? Was that someone who studied dragons- or maybe reptiles? But weren't people who studied reptiles called herpetologists? And hippogriff- that one Ciel kind of knew. She had heard the word in passing while shopping at Diagon Alley. It was an animal of sorts, right?
"Uh- sorry Daphne but what's a dragonologist? Or a hippogriff?" Ciel finally quirked an eyebrow, her mind was getting all sorts of jumbled with this new lingo. "I'm not from a wizard family so I don't know too much about this world."
Though she was a little confused, Ciel was willing to learn all the same. To be fair, this new world would be her home for the next seven years, it'd be good to know at least a little bit of info.

Apparently, she was also a first-year which made sense, and, unlike himself and Ciel, actually knew about all this magic and stuff which was interesting. That's when Ciel chimed in saying it was fine if Daphne could stay here if she wanted and turned to him to make sure it was fine with him.
Before he could answer though, Daphne had apparently taken interest in Ginger Ale and began talking about dragonologists and something called a Hippogriff which fascinated him. Wren figured that a dragonologist was probably someone who studied or worked with dragons which given the whole magic thing made sense that there was probably a job that involved dragons which sounded amazing and kinda crazy. Hippogriffs though were something he could have sworn he heard about, maybe he had read about them?
Wren started going over the information from the few school books he had read trying to remember where he had heard about them. Deep in thought, he heard Ciel explain to Daphne that she didn’t know what those things were and whatnot. Figuring he should probably answer Ciel though he quickly chimed in, “ It’s um… fine with me if you want to sit in here with us, only if you want to though.” Has he said this, the information about Hippogriffs suddenly hit him, he had read about them in one of the school books.
“And um… Hippogriffs are a sort of magical creature, right? They have like the head, wings, and um… front feet of like eagles but the rest of their body is like a horse, they’re really fascinating and beautiful. Although there really dangerous if you’re not an expert and they’re pretty dangerous even if you are,” He explained, a sudden burst and rush of excitement rushing through him with a huge grin as he explained. He then suddenly realized that maybe this could have given the wrong impression and he quickly sunk back into his seat, he didn’t really want to embarrass himself before he even got to the school. Rubbing the back of his neck and looking down at the floor he quickly and somewhat quietly said, “Or at least um… I think that’s what I read.”
