Dove sat down, folding her hands in her lap. There was a large red spot, nearly forming a bruise, on her left arm from when she accidentally ran into the wrong column. She cringed, touching the red spot gently, when suddenly a woman with a trolley full of odd-looking candies and chocolates came by. Dove hesitantly accepted some every-flavor beans, and whatever a chocolate frog was. She figured the every-flavor beans would be like jelly beans, so Dove ate one. It tasted strangely similar to a blueberry, so she continued with a green one, then immediately after covered her mouth and started to cough, disgusted. She set them to the side and decided to open the chocolate frog. It looked only like dark chocolate shaped like a frog; she hoped that there wasn't some silly enchantment on it. As she opened it, she realized there was a card inside it! She had no idea who the person was, though she tucked it in her bag as she thought it may have some sort of value. But then Dove realized that the chocolate frog was about to jump out of the window of the train! She tried to grab it and it hopped onto her face. As she was busy screaming, she noticed that heads were turning to look at her. Miserably, she peeled the chocolate frog off her face and let it hop out of the window like it wanted to.

Charlie braced herself in the corridor as the train started to depart. Passing by a collective of students waving to their families, she would peak out of an open window, waving goodbye to her family as the train slowly accelerated out of the station.
She made her way further down the train, managing to find a brand new compartment to herself. This was a first for her, being alone. Throwing her luggage above the seat, she sat down and watched outside as it increasingly got faster.
She felt her eyes get heavy, and didn't notice she'd fallen asleep until the lady with the trolley stopped by to see if she wanted anything. Rubbing her eyes, she'd get up and look at the collection. This was one of the things she was looking forward to all summer, and bought a sugar quill with a chocolate frog.
Before Charlie sat back down, she heard a yelp from another compartment. Immediately concerned, she'd pull out her wand and hurry over, expecting some immediate danger despite only just leaving the platform.
Instead, she'd seen a young girl with a chocolate frog on her face, looking petrified. She gave a slight chuckle, putting her wand away and folding her arms.
"Ay, a bit scary eh?" She'd point to the frog before it jumped from the window.

Dove realized there was a girl in the door of her compartment. What?! No! She did NOT want her reputation to get ruined over a stupid, slimy, yucky frog! So she sat up, prim and proper, not wanting to make the red part of her arm visible, but having to.
"Scared? Me? Of what?" She asked, then looked out the window. "Oh, that milk chocolate thing? Ha. Never." She waved her hand dismissively, then moved over in her seat. "Please, sit." Perhaps she and this girl could chat! Maybe they could form a bond, and become friends! But now that she was looking at this girl, Dove realized they could be twins. Same blue eyes, tan skin, flushed cheeks, and face full of freckles. "So, how did your 'one friend' react to you leaving for Hogwarts?" She asked. Her father had told her that she could tell one friend and one friend only that she was going to a new school. Not telling her friend about the magic world of course, but telling her that she was leaving.
However, she didn't have many friends to tell.
But now, here, in "La-La Land", maybe she could have a new, loyal, and actual friend!

Charlie gave a small, heartful laugh while she obliged with sitting down next to her. Her fingers drew out a 'X' over her heart, swearing a promise to her.
"Won't tell another soul, promise," her mouth formed a small, michevious smile while she teased her slightly. Continuing on, the question made her think, as it seemed like quite some time ago.
"Hm, well," her accent spoke out thick, almost difficult to understand to some students. "Aye ne'er had muggle friends, until comin'ere. Aye was homeschooled, pure blood family tradition I s'pose." She shrugged her shoulders, not really giving it much thought.
Coming to Hogwarts she met a lot of different students with perspectives of where they came from before here. It was different, sure, but never really indulged with deeply knowing someone who experienced public schooling. Her knowledge of them were small, collecting bits and pieces from her classmates from here and there at the Great Hall.
"What about ya?" She'd lean back onto the seat, draping her arm on the armrest besides her. Her eyes would drift around the compartment, taking note the student was a first year from the lack of house colors. Her wand prodded her rib, and she adjusted in her seat to get more comfortable.

Dove's eye twitched. She was slightly irritated at the teasing, but she'd refuse to say anything of it. "Hmm... Me?" She thought back to how her friend had reacted. "She told me I couldn't leave. She pretended to be upset, but then..." Dove shifted around in her seat, uncomfortable talking about it. "But then I saw her join some other kids in talking about how they, you know, couldn't wait for me to leave and stuff. Quite annoying, however I don't care." She turned to Charlie. "What's your name, by the way?" If Dove was going to be friends with this girl, she needed to know her name. "I'm Columbia, or Dove." She rolled her eyes. "Nobody really calls me Columbia. I like Dove better. It's the latin translation, you know. A lot of my family's nicknames are translations of their real names. For example, my grandmother, April-" She cleared her throat and quit talking before she could talk too much and scare the other girl away. "Nevermind. Uh, what's the deal with your family? How were they?" Dove thought that maybe if she asked another question, she could direct the attention away from her and her stupid family names.

A frown formed on her face after hearing of the rudeness she experienced with her friends before Dove left for Hogwarts.
"Hm, they're jealous. Yer experiencin' somethin' they wanted to as well, muggles are pretty selfish." She tried to reassure her to not pay any mind to what happened. "Aye ne'er do that to yeh."
A part of Charlie was thankful she'd never had muggle friends, listening from others' they seemed entitled and snobbish regardless of status.
When Dove introduced herself, she'd take her hand and shake it gently. Charlie thought her hands were really soft, and almost felt compeled to hold them longer than what was necessary.
" Charlie Grace," she'd give a warm smile, "pleasure."
She reminded herself to let go, and began to talk about her own family.
She felt a ping in her heart, as she already started to miss being at home.
"My parents were magic-folk, it was no surprise that meh letter came." She'd remember when a bundle of parchment would fly straight at her mother's head while she was baking in the kitchen. Their owl, Nora, was notorious for being inconvenient. She'd thrown their mail into a pot of soup before, mother was furious.
"I 'ave two yunger sisters, twins, 'n quite the handful. They'll be comin' tuh school in a few 'ears."

"Wow! That's so cool, i'd love to have younger sisters." She paused, thinking about her own sister, and deciding not to go into much detail about it. "Well, my older sister might get a letter... I don't know. We're half-bloods, and.. she's not very involved with our family. She might get a letter though! I do hope to see her at Hogwarts eventually, it would be nice." Dove smiled. "So, I like your outfit! It looks like some other outfits i've seen on here... Does this school have a uniform? Oh crap, I should have bought one! But they're all different colors... So... Different schools?!"
She turned back to Charlie, stressed. "Is there a bunch of different schools? What if we're not in the same school?!" Dove looked around, then leaned over her seat to subtly peak around the train. Some kids walking down the middle of the train were wearing a Gryffindor uniform, walking alongside some first years with no uniforms. "Wait, do we get our uniforms when we get there? Or was it like the books?"
She took a deep breath. "Sorry, sorry. Please explain to me if the school has uniforms or not, and how the schools are set up."

Charlie gave her a puzzled look, then gestured to her robes. Doves' sudden panic caused her to widen her eyes as she tried to make sense with the rambling she was making.
"Er..books?" She'd mumble, then would point towards her luggage. "Yeh should 'ave them in yer trunk. Basic 'uns," she'd grab her tie and show it off to Dove, "Gryffind'r, it's meh house. You'll be sorted as well, once we get there."
Charlie felt a ping in her chest, a part of her anxious if Dove was going to be a Gryffindor as well. It's obviously fine if not, but a part of her would like to make a friend in her own house. Regardless, she'd still keep in touch.
When she shifted in her seat, she'd feel something prodding her back. At first, she'd thought it was her wand again but grabbing it she realized it was her chocolate frog she'd bought earlier. With knowing Dove losing hers, she'd hand it over for her to have. Charlie already has a sugar quill in her pocket, so she'd be set when it comes to sweets. Though a part of her wanted to see which card was in it, hoping it wasn't something she didn't have.

"House? Is that like... Clubs?" Without waiting for a response, she shrugged. "Nice. Wonder which one I'll be getting."
And then Charlie offered up her own chocolate frog? Dove was taken aback by the offer. "Oh... really?" She hesitantly took the chocolate frog, then wrapped her arms around Charlie in a brief hug. "Thanks!" Once Dove let go, she took the card from the package. "You can have the card, I already have the one from my runaway frog." She laughed at her own joke. "Who did you get? Mine was some old guy called Salazar Slytherin." She paused, rummaging through her bag, then taking out the card. "Do these have, like, value? Are they like Pokemon cards?" Immediately after saying that, Dove blushed. Even though Charlie probably didn't know what those were, in Dove's mind, it still sounded quite stupid and geeky.
"Or baseball cards!" The quick statement was added to direct the attention away from the Pokemon cards, when Dove realized; This girl was born and raised in this weird universe of sparkles and runaway chocolate, so she might not know what any of this stuff was. "You know, the, uh, sport. With the bats. And the... players." She looked away awkwardly.

She graciously accepted the card, and fortunately didn't have it yet. It would definitely be something she can trade later with some of the other Gryffindors. As Dove was spewing nonsense again, she tried to use context clues instead of acting confused like she had been before.
"Er..like Quidditch?" Talking of the bats and players made sense when talking of the wizard sport, but gathered she probably had no clue what that was either. Instead of waiting for a response, she directed the conversation to something they'd possibly both enjoy.
"Nevermind...hah," her hand scratched the back of her head sheepishly. When they both sat in silence for a moment, she'd hold her finger up and announced she was going to leave but be right back. They had ample time until they'd be arriving at Hogwarts. Going to her compartment, she'd grab her luggage and vacate it. She'd decide to stay with Dove for the rest of the way, and opened it once she returned to her seat. She slid her fingers to the latches on the case, and opened it to retrieve her parchment and quill.
"Can I draw ya'?" Her body was turned towards Dove, holding up the two items with a beaming smile.
