George had been selected to be the new broom captain for the Hufflepuff team at the very end of the year. However, he had no one to really share the good news with, given that he had decided that two of his close friends were actually quite rubbish on June 30th and he was not yet ready to spend bonding time with the others. He was in a very sensitive position of needing to remain charming and sociable while simultaneously having no friends at all. Thankfully, his position as broom racing captain gave him access to a full roster of jocks for intra-house bonding. It was the most manly he had ever felt.
The least jock-y of all was the one he had selected to ask for advice on broom selection. It would do the team no good to have their captain riding on a school broom. It would be like having the prime minister ride around in a station wagon. It would be a humiliation to the entire country of Hufflepuff if the prime minister of broom racing did not have a vehicle befitting of his station.
George waited near the door of Quality Quidditch Supplies, trying to look inconspicuous to the occasional quidditch fan who stopped to observe him. His best impression of someone who belonged here was looking between a Magpies badge and a Harpies badge, as if deep in thought. As if he did not know which team he liked, and was trying to make the decision right now, without watching either team play. His glances to the door became more frequent as it became clear his disguise as wearing thin - craning his neck so he would not miss it when the shortest member of the team made it to the shop.

Interacting with @George Henry
She almost skipped down the street, as the excitement filled her. It was nice to be outside of the house for starters - away from her sibling that was driving her crazy. It would only be a few more days or a week or so before he left, luckily, for some Quidditch thing with his mates. However, even spending a day with him was annoying enough. Plus, she missed her friends. Well, some of them. Things were kind of awkward with a few of them. It had been a hard year. Broom racing, however, had gotten her through some rough times. There was very little that beat the joy of flying incredibly fast, the wind hitting your face and the thrill of it all.
Serena did not consider herself a jock by any means. She thought jocks were the hufflebuffs in her friendship group - the ones that could literally lift you and throw you if they wanted to. But as it turned out, flying sports was one thing she had grown to love. The one thing she was actually kind of decent in. Not enough to be a captain of the team, by any standards. She had already had her fair share of responsibility when she was Head Girl and it quickly became too much. Captaincy was not for her. When her newest captain, George Henry, had asked for her help though, she was honoured.
In truth, she did not really know much about brooms nor did she consider herself an expert but she had been researching them over the months out of curiosity. A part of her wondered if there was a more appropriate broom out there for her or if she could make one. Admittedly, she had no idea how to even begin making brooms but if she could make armour then... she could probably learn, right? Obviously, one was made out of metal whilst the other was wood but, the concept of taking care and consideration and making something wonderful was all still the same.
More than that, she was just excited about the whole experience. It was a nice opportunity to do some of her favourite things. First, she could talk to a fellow racer, who appreciated the sport as she did. Second, she could appreciate the beautiful brooms and supplies the store had to offer.
Arriving earlier than they had agreed to meet, she had decided to spend a little time in Diagon Alley first. Of course, the first place she went to was Gringotts to grab a little bit of money from the family vault with her father. He had wandered off to attend to some of his own business, which was when she made her way over to the pet store to grab Pizza Rat some more food and a nice treat. Donning a black t-shirt with a light jacket over it, a pair of denim shorts and a pair of bright ankle boots that screamed 'hufflepuff', Serena meandered through the street with a skip in her step. She wore a bandana headband that neatly kept her hair off her face but also covered her ears - one of the only signs of her heritage. It was too hot for a hat so she had started to figure out how to accessorise her hair, so she did not have to keep it loose all the time.
Grabbing a treat from her bag, she grinned as she spotted something else. A small ring that she had also bought. It was called a "Mustachio" ring and it was apparently enchanted to give people facial hair. Pulling it out, she slipped it onto a finger as she tilted her head and turned to the brown rat on her shoulder, "Here bud," She said, as though everything was normal. Although she could not be sure, she was pretty sure that Pizza did a double take, hesitating before taking the treat into his little hands and starting to nibble on it. Serena laughed softly, amusing herself as she now sported some facial hair. Exactly what, she could not see. But feeling around with her now spare hand, she did feel a lot of hair on her chin. It also suddenly felt quite bushy under her nose, which was a weird sensation.
"Oh shoot, we're gonna be late-" She started as she started to lose track in all of her meadering. Turning on her heel, she started to make her way over to the Quality Quidditch Supplies. Though, perhaps she ought to have a word with the owner about changing the name! Some of them were broom racers!
Before long, she entered the store and looked around. It did not take her long to spot George. They had not really spoken much before but they shared the same house for some years now. She had also heard some rumours about him being the one who sealed the floor that day but- this was not the time or place to think about such things! "The Montrose Magpies are one of the top teams out there. They might even have the most wins out there. But the Holyhead Harpies kind of have my heart as an all-female team," Serena commented with a hand on her beard as she stared intently at the two badges that George had been looking at, as though she was deep in thought on the matter. She gently rubbed the beard, "I believe the Harpies are also one of the oldest, so it's nice to see that they are still around. Though, I imagine it's probably not great that they don't have as many wins as some of the younger teams. The Magpies do have a very cool badge," She continued, as though this was all perfectly normal.
Okay, she officially paid way too much attention to quidditch teams. Or at least, she did back in the day. Less so now but it would likely always hold a special place in her heart.
Unable to keep the serious look on her face for too long, Serena broke out into a grin and tilted her head to look up at George, "Hey, captain! Reporting for duty, captain! Were you waiting long?" She gave a quick two-finger salute that turned into a 'peace' sign as it moved away from her head.

George was one of the more visible members of Hufflepuff when the mood struck him. Impromptu study sessions seemed to sprout up around him when he spent too long in the common room. He could be an engaging teacher when he wanted, whether the subject was Charms or the art of eye shadow. In either case, he loved the attention. He was either endearing or annoying. Switching from one to the other was a matter of time.
The boy jumped in surprise when he was addressed by a young goblin man with luscious hair on his head and his face. It took a few moments for his ears to tune into the conversation, and the man was saying something about the Harpies. He was either an avid feminist or a lady-obsessed weirdo. George's eyes lingered for a long while on the man's beard, studying his style. A hand unconsciously wiped across his upper lip, bare and hairless. Why did hair never show up where you wanted it to?
"Oh, uh, yeah," George said, finally putting his smile on. Polite conversation with kids his age was one thing, but he couldn't determine whether this was a teenager or a grown man between the fact he was a goblin and had a beard. Strangest of all, the man had the voice of a girl. George kept his smile tight-lipped to avoid smirking at that. It would be terribly rude to smile if he just had an unfortunate tenor. "I, uh, I am... a big fan of the Harpies, so I'll... probably get that one."
George took the Harpies badge and returned the Magpies badge to the display, his preference in bird-based sports teams now apparent. He turned it over in his hand. George had never once seen a Quidditch game in his life outside of the Hogwarts pitch. Now he'd need to buy this stupid badge if this guy stuck around on him. His head perked up when he heard to word 'captain' out of Serena's mouth.
"...Who the hell- oh, you're- oh!" his bewilderment turned into surprise as he realized her deception. He absently moved to return the Harpies badge before changing his mind and tucking it back in his hand. The Harpies were a special team to him too, if only for the idea of them. His mother would be very proud of his vague and mild dedication to female empowerment. For now, though, he was focused on Serena, who demonstrated the most extreme form of female empowerment available - facial hair. "Is that real?!"
George reached out to point to the goblin girl's chin and nose, wiggling his finger to indicate her whole appearance. "No, no, not long. I was just looking at badges and stuff. I figure it'll look better if your captain looks like he might know something about broom sport," he said with a shrug. "I've also got these."
He dug in his pocket and shook a few loose stickers out in his hand for Serena to view. A little round rainbow, a few flowers, as well as some hearts and stars to bedazzle his broomstick. "That won't mess it up, will it?" he murmured, suddenly uncertain. He let out a soft sigh, convinced he was making a fool of himself already."I just find the brooms look so boring. They're all brown."

"That's fair!" Serena responded, genuinely thinking that George was interested in the Harpies. She also entirely thought the boy recognised her because, well, it was super obvious. She did not look that different, surely! Admittedly, she also had not seen what her facial hair looks like to everyone else. All she could see was what she could see from the corner of her eyes.
Tilting her head at him, she blinked as he seemed to have a sudden outburst of something. What did she do?! What was he going to say? Who the hell did she think she was? Serena blinked at him some more, wondering what he was so shocked by before realising as he started to point at her, "Oh! Uh- no. Well, yes. I- I don't know actually. It's not like real real but I guess the magic would make it real hair cause it seems to, yanno, match my hair colour. I think," Serena tried to explain, pouting her lips as much as possible to try and observe the colour of the hair above her lip to see if it was an exact match or just close enough. She held some strands from the tips of her hair and they looked the same. And it felt real so she imagined it was real. But also, magic real, rather than real real.
After a few moments of observing everything, she lifted her hand to show George the ring that she was wearing, "It's a part of the enchantment of this ring! It gives you facial hair and it's super cool," She tried to explain, not really doing a great job at it. She was, clearly, not a salesperson nor did she appear to have the skill to currently be one!
Laughing softly, she nodded, "I guess that makes sense. But you realise that these are, uh, quidditch teams and not broom racing, right?" She asked, hoping that he actually knew that part! "Wait- how did you become captain if you know nothing about the sport?!" The sudden realisation that the new captain of the team might not even know the rules of the sport was a little scary! He was playing too, right?
Serena paused for a moment. She had never really thought about decorating her broom. She kind of loved the natural look of them herself. They were all so unique in their own way, not at all boring in her own opinion. So she never really thought about dressing them up but... now that she did, it was kind of a cute way to add a bit of your own personality to them, "May I?" She asked, taking one if he said it was fine. Either way, she would observe them. From what she could see, they were just bits of paper, "I'm not sure but I don't think they'd mess it up - unless they have some sort of magical enchantment on them? That might interfere with the broom's own enchantments," She questioned, wondering if that was possible.
The girl was not an expert by any means, so she was thinking out loud about the matter. She could also be very wrong, of course, "Though uh- we do have some obstacles and I guess the wind or rain that might like make them fall off? So you'd have to stick them on with like... something strong I guess?" She continued, imagining how they would survive if George flew through the waterfall without an umbrella charm.

George reached out, sort of hovering his hand a few inches from Serena's face. He did not know why he felt so interested in touching her beard. He knew that this was not a good first impression to make on one of the members of his team. All of his willpower needed to be channeled to his hand for him to pull it back down to his side, clearing his throat as he brushed off the front of his robes.
"It looks amazing on you, to be honest," George said, still marveling at how handsome she was. It was a very strange feeling to find a girl handsome. He nodded in agreement as she compared it to her hair. "I can't grow a beard yet. Maybe I ought to get one of those rings. My dad said I shouldn't be so excited to, since it's a pain in the arse to shave every day. Do you know Quinn Healy? Oh man, he's got the best beard..."
Serena's questioning of his quidditch knowledge struck a nerve. He put on a pout and narrowed his eyes at her. "Of course I know they're quidditch teams! I'm not an idiot, Serena!" he huffed indignantly, keeping his voice to a hiss to avoid making a disturbance. He shoved his badge back onto the display, folding his arms. "I'm only going to be racing with you in August, it's not like I've never ridden a broom before in my life. I've just only ever rode the school brooms, so I need something a bit more professional grade."
The tension in the air quickly diffused as George showed off his stickers. "This is my pride one, and then I got these other ones in a little package from my mom in first year," he said, tapping on the stickers in her hand to indicate which were his and which were from his mom. It felt a bit childish to be playing with stickers, but Serena was receptive to them, even if they seemed alien to her. "I could maybe use epoximise. They do stick fairly well, though. Look."
George removed the backing from one of the little star stickers and pushed it onto Serena's jacket, where it stuck steadfast, its slightly holographic pattern making it glitter in the light of the shop. He leaned back on his heel to admire his handiwork, nodding in approval. "Looks good," he says, before putting on a saccharine smile. "A gold star for my star player! Or star helper. Oh, speaking of!"
He took off toward the display of Nimbus brooms, leaning in to look at the little numbers carved on the broomsticks until he found the model he had read about in the catalogue. Nimbus 1700! It was apparently a good racing model, according to Charms Magazine.
"Why don't we continue this conversation like you believe I have some understanding of broom racing? I have actually been practicing." George said, playfully sticking his tongue out. "I need a broom and some goggles, I think. It's hard to keep your eyes open when you've got some real speed, and these things go faster than anything I've ever ridden. What else do I need?"

Serena blinked at him, not quite expecting the compliment. She was not one to receive them, especially not about her appearance, so she was definitely not used to it. "It does?" She questioned, looking around to find a mirror or a shiny object that she could see her reflection in. Spotting a small mirror not too far away, she quickly peeked at it, "Oh wow, dang! I should use this to throw off Hugh..." She mumbled the last part more to herself but it was not inaudible, as she gave her beard a stroke. It looked so real! It was crazy how real it looked! She could definitely trick Hugh with it, surely!
A grin appeared on her face as she looked over her shoulder towards him, "Of course I do! He's a friend! He's great, he used to be my captain when I played Quidditch," She answered, thinking fondly on her memories of Quinn. He was one of her few friends. He actually had taught her all about comics and been a huge inspiration in helping her come up with ideas for armour making. Besides, he was also very noticeable - who didn't know him! "He does have a pretty glorious beard," She admitted as she recalled his face.
Turning to her new captain, she quickly raised her hands up as though she was surrendering, "Alright, alright, sorry! I was just making sure!" She said defensively, mentally scolding herself for potentially insulting her new teammate and captain. That would not be a great impression!
Now that he brought it up, she had her own brooms as soon as she was old enough to own one. It started with the Shooting Star, though she did not use that broom in an official game as far as she could recall. Her Silver Arrow quickly replaced it and became her pride and joy. It had gotten her through many quidditch games and a few broom races now, and even more training sessions. "These are from your mum?" She questioned, suddenly trying to imagine her own mother randomly buying these cute little stickers and sending them to her. She could not see it. There was a small smile on her face as she looked up at him, "They are adorable," His mum seemed pretty cute, just based on that action alone.
She blinked as he pressed a sticker into her jacket. Tilting her head slightly as she looked at it, half expecting it to fall off. Yet it stuck to the fabric pretty well from the looks of it, "I- Wh-" She stumbled as he said nice things about her, "It's nothing-" She mumbled, scratching the back of her head as she blushed a little by the star. It was cute! She liked stars. They were actually one of the things she made as a gift, like a star-shaped cookie saying 'you're a star' for her friends.
She grinned, slightly embarrassed by the words, "Goggles would be handy," She agreed, speaking from experience, "Having something to store your wand might be useful too, like a little holster or even just a strap it's easier to grip onto both at the same time," She continued, knowing how annoying it could be to try and juggle the two when you were flying at a high speed and having to stir quickly when a random vine appears. "Some protective gear is useful but we have a bunch of that already that can be borrowed," She continued, having actually made some kneepads and elbow pads and such for people.
"Do you have any idea which broom you might want? They range in price, quite a lot, so I guess it might depend on how much you want to spend too," She continued, knowing how expensive her own one was.

George nodded approvingly as Serena inspected herself in the mirror. She was good looking in her beard. Not near as good looking as Quinn Healy, though, although George had to admit Quinn had the advantage in being his type. "Oh, I didn't realize he'd been the captain," he said, betraying his broom sport ignorance once again. "Yeah! Oh, my god. It's incredibly thick, I don't know how he keeps it so nice. He's... my friend, too. We don't talk much just because I suppose it's a little weird for a fifth year to spend all their time with third years. He's crazy about Divination."
Whatever slight he might have felt from Serena's questioning of his broom knowledge seemed to have passed quickly. Stickers were the balm for all kinds of wrongs. "Yeah," George said with an embarrassed chuckle. He often got little gifts from his parents, particularly his mother - normally little greeting cards with owl puns on them. They were all securely hidden in his trunk at home.
Their conversation hovered past the brooms to the paraphernalia of racing - goggles, helmets, compasses and other extras. He looked through the available pairs of goggles, holding them up to his face. Bug-eyed and wonky. Suspiciously orange. It took him a few tries to find one that fit his face comfortably and didn't distort his vision. "There we go," said George, looking to Serena with his new goggles on his face. "Fashionable."
He pulled the strap of the goggles to loosen it up again, letting them hang around his neck. His head swiveled left and right, scanning the shelves, racks and displays. "Do they have wand holders in here?" George wondered. He would not be opposed to a trip up and down the alley to shop for supplies, as that would inevitably lead him past the ice cream shop or Weasley's. "Oh, okay. Well, if I tell mum I didn't wear the knee pads she'll take me out of school, so... I will be using the muggle artifacts in this instance."
Of course, the conversation would eventually need to move back to the brooms. His heart was already set. Well, it had been set twice - once in his dreams, and once after he had counted all the galleons under his pillow. He kept looking at Serena like he was going to say something, but it took him three times before he actually worked up the nerve.
"I've only got thirty galleons," George murmured to his new friend. He quickly followed up, trying to disguise it as a budgeting decision rather than a financial limitation. "But I heard Nimbus is the name in racing, although maybe not so much in quidditch. What are you riding?"

"Yeah! Been a captain for a while - for as long as I can remember, really. But I guess he's more known for being a badass beater," Serena continued, tilting her head in thought for a moment. His skill as a beater and the fact that he was not only a force not to be reckoned with when it came to knocking opponents off their broom, but he was also a wall of defence too.
Serena cringed slightly as he continued to talk about Quinn. It was weird for a fifth-year to hang out with a third-year student... Was that not what was happening right here, right now? Wait - now that she thought about it... Her best friend was also in George's year. In this case, he was actually one year behind but still, he was technically also a third year... Hugh and her were basically inseparable at times. Or at least, she felt like a tiny little goblin that followed him around and poked him in the knees constantly to irritate him. Even Jack was in their year, and Aaron! "Uh. Right- that would be so weird. Uh, so uh, what year do you think I am in?" She asked, tugging on the collar of her t-shirt a little.
"Oh! Check this out-" She started as she slipped the ring off. The facial hair instantly disappeared from her face. Placing it onto her left ring finger instead, the hair returned. This time, instead of a full beard, she was sporting a Van Dyke that made her instantly scrunch up her nose, fighting the need to sneeze at the sudden intrusion below her nose. The feeling passed after a moment or two, so she continued to speak, "The exact style depends on what finger you wear it on. It's pretty cool like that,"
Serena wandered a little around the store, musing slightly at the various items as he started to look for his own items to see if there was anything else that could be beneficial. Her gaze fell onto the golden snitches. She ran a finger over one a little, gazing upon it affectionately. it had been a while since she had played the role of a seeker but she had kept a golden snitch at her bedside ever since. It was a reminder of the times she had succeeded. No matter what, no one could take away the fact that she had actually caught the snitch again and again. They were fond moments, where she had actually succeeded in something after failing time and time again at everything she was trying.
"Hm, I'm not sure. I made mine, to be honest. There's probably something that could attach it to the broom here, like a strap between the two, or maybe in Ollivanders?" Serena pondered, not entirely sure. Flicking her wrist a little, her wand instantly flew out of the sleeve of her jacket and into her hand. With that, she tugged her jacket sleeve down a little to show that she kept hers there. It was a metal contraption, rather than the usual leather straps that were often seen. However, she specialised in metal, not leather.
Grinning at him, she nodded, "Are you suggesting that I have the same mentality as your mother?" She teased. Was she showing her age here? Maybe she was! She often scolded the others for not wearing proper gear, like knee pads. The ones that she had made were based on muggle designs. Not that George necessarily knew that or what she was talking about or the fact that she had even made them but she proceeded the conversation as though he did, since she was mostly just thinking out aloud and assumed he knew, "It's not very good but yeah, I based the designs off the muggle protection gear I could find," She could not guarantee they would be as good as actual muggle artifacts but she did do some research before designing them.
Serena nodded, accepting the amount as the budget without question. Thirty galleons were quite a bit. Not necessarily to her but she also was not a spender. She was a saver. She had been saving her pocket money for as long as she could remember to be able to carry as much as she currently did. However, she was also aware that not everyone had the sort of money that her family did. "Well, the Shooting Star is actually the first one I had. I think it was around 10 galleons when I bought it but prices have changed over the years," She said, acknowledging that it was a decent budget, "That's a good beginner broom, though, I think. Since you're already a flier, I think we can go for something else..."
Scanning the displays for the full range, she pondered. She had not tried the Comets herself but she had heard they were a pretty sturdy and efficient brand over the years. The Nimbus range was definitely a good brand for races, though she was not entirely sure of their price range, "Me? Oh, the Silver Arrow. My trusty sidekick since my Quidditch days but it's definitely taken a lot of bludgers and vines to it," She continued, "The Nimbus collection is really good in general though, I think, for racing. They are pretty fast and that's kind of one of your main requirements for this." "Apparently the Nimbus 1000 has the sturdiness of the Oakshaft 79 - over there - with the manoeuvrability of those ones-" She pointed first to the Oakshaft 79 before moving to the Cleansweeps, "And they just seem to get better from there," She continued.
"I think those extra things are very important to speed," Serena paused to point to the Swiftstick, "Those have a cool design, in my opinion, and are meant to be pretty fast I think but not super sturdy. In broom racing, we come across so many obstacles like those bloody vines or just narrow passageways that you'll end up damaging it in the long run I think. Sturdiness is pretty underrated but kind of essential- sorry, I'm rambling-" Serena had definitely done her research before arriving. She had also been eyeing up what she wanted to buy. Her father had agreed that she could spend her savings as she wanted and if that was on brooms, then so be it!

George's eyes lit up with recognition. "Oh, yes, he's the beater! That I remember," he said. It was tough to miss him on the field, considering he was a giant. George had always felt bad for the students who opposed Hufflepuff in those games. Having Quinn Healy flying after you with a bat trying to hit bludgers into you was the stuff of nightmares. Then again, Quidditch was mostly the stuff of nightmares. Being bludgeoned into oblivion while desperately trying to throw balls through hoops sounded exhausting. George suspected that the amount of concussions Jack received in the sport was partially why George became the 'smart one' of their little trio. "What a menace on the pitch, that one. It's funny, because he's so sweet. You'd never expect him to be throwing kids half his size clean off their brooms. Nature of the sport, I suppose."
George took a deep breath as he considered some of the brooms that their conversation had lead them to. "You know, the amount of stuff I need to not mention to my mother in order to remain enrolled in Hogwarts... there's more every year." He snickered to himself. Perhaps 14 year olds were not broadly considered capable of making the decision to risk their life for their magical education, but nobody could stop them.
His eyes suddenly snapped to her as she asked what year he thought she was in. Oh no - he had been fooled again. His first instinct was third year, considering her stature, and general sort of nervous bubbliness. But she must have been older. He remembered her from when he was a first year, and he had never seen her in any of his classes. But she was so short... "Oh, um... I thought you were in fourth year," It was half a lie, as he had never thought of it at all, but that was what he thought now. "...You're in fifth year, aren't you?"
Of course. Fate had it out for him lately, and though things had lightened up, it would not allow him to meet with his teammates without a hitch. He let out a pitiful sigh, feeling the full weight of his terrible luck all at once, only to shrug it off as she distracted him with beards. He scrunched his nose up, mirroring her expression as he saw the Van Dyke. He shook his head. "Go back!"
He didn't notice Serena reminiscing with the snitch. He caught a glimpse of himself in the little mirror that she had been looking in earlier and was suddenly taken with his own reflection. His hair needed adjustment after the goggles were put on and taken off. Carefully combing it into place at first, he suddenly stopped and decided to tousle it, thinking it gave him a sporty look when combined with the goggles around his neck. "You... you made yours?"
Barely prying his eyes away from himself in time to catch it, he grinned and marveled at the contraption that had launched her wand up right into her grip. "You MADE yours?" he asked again. By god, he had been blessed! This wasn't some stuffed-animal-slumber-party Hufflepuff, this was a bona fide genius! An inventor! He had no idea what spell could work metal like that. He leaned in to study the device, letting out an approving hum.
Did she share the mentality of his mother? Somewhat. She had an encouraging presence, like she would never embarrass you for anything, and she was very clever, too. But something about that question did show her age just a bit. "Sixth year," he suspected, correcting his earlier guess.
Then, down to the meat of the matter. Broom talk. George did not speak, only listening as she walked through the range of brooms available to him. The Shooting Star was of no interest to him, as he felt he would be limited by a beginner broom. He deeply regretted asking her what she rode herself. A Silver Arrow? George could dream of it, but he would never sit on one. Not unless he made a very rich, gullible, and dying friend who might bequeath a large sum of money to him. Serena only satisfied two of those conditions at the moment, so he resigned to riding a more affordable model.
"Yes, I know you're meant to go fast," George said, not wanting to be spoken down to. His expression had spoiled a bit from listening to her speak about her sidekick of a broom. It was unfair to resent her for having more money, but it was also unfair for her to have more money, so he gave no effort to quell his feelings. Pride swallowed, he spoke again. "No - I'm glad I have someone who knows what they're doing on the team. We'll need that. I was looking at the Swiftstick too... it does look very cool. I need this broom to last me, though. If it breaks you'll be getting a new captain."
He lingered near the 1700 - his mind somewhat set already. And with Serena's blessing on the Nimbus collection, he felt confident in his earlier decision. He picked it up off the display rack, feeling the weight of it in his hands - he couldn't help but grin and look at Serena. "It's so cool. I've never had a broom."

Interacting with @George Henry
"I am so glad he was on our side," She joked, with a soft laugh escaping her. Being against Quinn would be pretty scary - she definitely did not want to be on the receiving end if he got angry. She had seen him literally break someone's leg in an instant. But he was such a kind person that she could not imagine doing anything that would actually anger him that much. That 'someone' definitely deserved it, in her opinion. He was literally being racist to him!
She gave a somewhat sad smile as she heard George's words about his mother. For a brief moment, she reflected on some of the many things that happened. She did not even know where to begin. Her family knew about magic but there were still things she did not really know how to say to them. She could not begin to comprehend how hard it must have been for him. "Yeah... I keep wondering if it will get better..." She mused to herself, pondering on the matter before shrugging. It was a sad thought and honestly, if it did not get better then that was worse. Serena needed to hold onto the hope.
She scratched the back of her head before joking softly, "Oh no, that would be so weird. If I was a fifth year and you were a third," She teased in response to him, as he started to put it together. She was in the same year as Quinn, after all.
Chuckling some more, she pulled the ring off and pocketed it for now opting not to wear it. The facial hair instantly disappeared, returning her face back to normal - though she had no idea if George actually really knew what she looked like without it. They had seen each other around! Or at least, she recognised him beforehand.
"Yeah," She replied absentmindedly to him asking her if she made hers. She did. It was one of the few skills that she actually had, though she was pretty sure that if she could do it, anyone could. Serena turned to him, turning her attention back towards him when he repeated the question with a lot more emphasis. Blinking a little, she nodded as a slight blush crept onto her face. Was it really that much of a surprise? She scratched the back of her head a little awkwardly. "Yeah... I uh, figured it would come in handy so I made it a little while ago..." She repeated, explaining it a bit more as she tried to convince him that she was not lying about such a thing!
Blinking at him, she pondered for a moment before nodding, "I suppose I am going into sixth year now that you mention it, yeah. Same as Healy," She clarified. She did not really feel like a sixth year or rather, any different to how she felt leaving her fifth year but did things really change all that much? She supposed things would be different now that she had completed her OWLs. Things would likely change in that aspect.
Serena simply nodded in response to his words about the broom. For a moment, it kind of seemed like he was irked by something - perhaps she was talking too much? She opted to avoid talking too much about the brooms since she figured she might be putting him. A smile appeared on her face when he continued, seemingly okay, "No no, we can't have that. We can't lose another captain!" She said as she watched him observing the Nimbus 1700, "It's beautiful," She admired the broom with him, happy for him.
