HOGWARTS GROUNDS,
GREAT LAKE.

Since starting at Hogwarts, Sebastian had learned to take some time for himself. This usually involved taking walks and familiarizing with the surrounding grounds of the school. At home, under the strict guidance of his parents, having some spare time would have been laughed at, and promptly ignored. Here, however, Sebastian was able to work on a steady balance of dedicated study, social interaction and alone time.

His current walk was near the Great Lake, which he observed with eyes of a similar color to the shimmering water. Not far away was the small wooden dwelling known as Hagrid's Hut, and near that the Forbidden Forest. The latter was certainly a place Sebastian wanted to visit, simply to see what could be seen - he was a curious individual, consumed with seeking information and knowledge.

With hands cupped at the base of his back, the young Irish boy walked the lake edge slowly. It was chill, but not uncomfortable when wearing the school uniform and robes, and the wind was quite calm. Despite being told about Hogwarts in great detail, little compared to actually being present and seeing it, the castle being wondrous and intriguing; and Sebastian couldn't help but begin to imagine all the possibilities contained within its walls.

Turning to look back at the castle itself, Sebastian noticed another student not far away, observing her with a passive expression...

Eri windstone loved the outdoors. Especially the Hogwarts grounds. The Lake was her favorite spot. Where she enjoyed reading or hanging with people or just studying. Basically she did everything by the Lake. She mainly came outside to escape the crowded corridors and the feeling like she need to be out in the open. No walls no doors just open.

The brunette takes a walk by the Lake and observes it with eyes that resemble emeralds. Especially on the sunlight her green eyes sparkle in the sunlight. The surface of the Lake seemed to be calm and she sat down next to the Lake and pulled out and old worn black leather book. It was a journal passed down from her great grandfather, to her her grand father, to her father, then to her. It was full and she never got a chance to write in it, but the history dated back even to when Voldemort was alive. There was some things in there that she didn't want people to read. Some of her family members were on the bad side and done bad things, but she was not going to turn out like them.

Eri sat and read the book with her hands prepared to shut the book at the slightest sound. Unaware that Sebastian was near her and observing her.

Sebastian admitted he was curious about the female student nearby, if only due to the mysterious black book she was reading. While being a distance away, the boy couldn't make out many details, aside from it being a little worn. Given how a more recent run-in with a different Ravenclaw went, Sebastian decided he was going to try his luck. So with casual pace, the boy walked toward the other student, before he cleared his throat and stopped several meters from where she sat...

"Hello," He said, offering a thin smile, his black hair across his forehead in the slight breeze. "I don't usually approach others. I'm not a very social person. But I noticed your leather book there, and was intrigued..."

Realizing he hadn't introduced himself, Sebastian frowned.

"Oh. My name is Sebastian. Sebastian Leeds," The boy added quickly, with a nod of his head. "I'm first year, Slytherin - clearly."

With a motion to the green lined cloak and the Slytherin colored scarf, Sebastian smirked. So far he felt things were going well, considering his very limited social capability. As it was, this scenario was certainly easier to be comfortable with, since it was a single student and no one else was around to cause all manner of disruption.

"What's your name?"

Eri closed her book with a snap. A Slytherin. She didn't talk to many of those. Eri smiled and looked at him. "Hello, I'm Eri windstone, Ravenclaw. The leather book? What about it? It belonged to my Great grandfather, grand father, and father." She looked down at the closed book and stood up. Sebastian had been curious in her book. She didn't know how much she wanted to share about the old thing. There were no letters since they were worn and faded. Did he know what the book was or did he just think it was interest?

The brunette looked at Sebastian with her emerald eyes. She was obviously studying him. "I'm not the best a socializing, but I'm interested in talking with you. What about the book is interesting?" She asked very curiously. Her book was a secret to her mainly just the inside of her book. She could not trust him just yet. Since she just met him, but she could answer some of his questions. As long as they weren't like could I read it or may I see it. Or what is it about. She just didn't want people to know her family history.

As Eri introduced herself, Sebastian nodded. He immediately noted how protective she was of the book, suspicious by the reaction, possibly trying to hide something. But when she explained it was more like a family heirloom, passed down through generations, Sebastian was a little disappointed; he had hoped the book was some secret, restricted thing from the library, stolen away by the Ravenclaw by the lake...

"Good to meet you, Eri Windstone."

Still, there had to be some nice entries or information in such a book. Something like that didn't simply pass down along family lines without having some kind of meaning contained in its pages, which meant that Sebastian's interest was starting to increase again.

"Initially, nothing beyond how it looked," Sebastian said, answering Eri's question about why the book had been interesting. "But now that you've mentioned how old it is, I admit I'm more interested. Have you managed to learn anything from it?"

Peering down at the book, Sebastian inclined his head. It seemed well-worn, the pages yellowed by age from what he could see on the outer edge, and the leather was certainly showing its age. Being a personal item, Sebastian doubted he would be allowed to have a look, so he decided to suggest another topic for discussion - at least for now...

"Do you visit the lake often? This is my first time, at least alone, and it's been very calming."

"I learned some things I didn't want to know. Also some things in this book date back to Voldemort's time." She only felt like explaining that. Some things into there needed to stay in there. She put the book back in her bag. In front of another book to hide the other book. She had a smaller book in her bag. It was a book she had snuck from her Aunt's library. Well shelf of books in her room. Her Aunt used to be an Auror before she had an accident and had to quit. It was about lots of different things. Like werewolves and all sorts of cool magical creatures that ever existed.

Indeed she visited the Lake often. More like daily. "I come out here whenever I get the chance to. I love reading here and doing my homework. It is peaceful here." Eri said to Sebastian. That was really the only times she liked to be out at the Lake. Once she had been found past curfew out at the lake. Thankfully she did not get into serious trouble for that. So now she just came out whenever there was sat light or when she had time.

Sebastian narrowed his eyes, hearing Voldemort's name spoken aloud. It wasn't that he was afraid of saying it, or even understood why others were, so much as it was surprising. From a young age, it had been a name not said, likely as a means of demeaning the dark wizard's memory and ensuring no infamy or recognition came of it in years to follow. Still, what once had been a mildly interesting book now was a lot more interesting, especially if it contained notations from several years prior about the dark lord...

The topic had always interested Sebastian, more out of curiosity than anything else.

"Well, if you ever want to talk about those things you didn't want to know," Sebastian said, offering a shrug. "I'm here. I know a thing or two about keeping secrets, after all."

With a thin smirk, Sebastian motioned to his Slytherin badge. It was mostly an attempt at humor, which Sebastian wasn't really prone to doing, but the offer was genuine. One didn't live within a Pure-blood family and not discover secrets that needed to be kept, no matter what.

"It is enjoyable by the lake, I agree," Sebastian continued, looking out over the calm water. The cool air that came off the reflecting surface was just as nice, compared to the stuffy confines of the castle or Leeds Manor. "I never really got out much, so it's nice to have that option here at school.

"Speaking of, how do you find classes are this year? I imagine being Ravenclaw, you're not having too many issues?"

Eri looked at the boy. Was he really interested in the secrets? Or was he going to use them against her? She didn't know, but she would take him up on the offer some day. Maybe even today. For now those secrets needed to be kept just that, secret. "Thank you. I might take you up on that offer some time. Now is just to soon for me." There she might have made a friend. Hopefully he didn't re the other book she had in her bag. Her Aunt hadn't sent her a letter asking if she had the book. So that was good. Maybe she didn't know.

Eri looked at the Lake. "Well, yes, classes are quite easy. Except for potions. That class is difficult for me. Anyways, how are your classes going? Any that you find interesting?" She asked. She wanted to know something about him and she had the chance without even having to change the topic. He seemed interesting. Eri never trusted what everyone said about Slytherins. Well, you could never trust them until you know they are loyal or won't backstab you. Which she was sure he wasn't going to do just yet anyways. Or she may have misjudged him.

"I agree," Sebastian said simply. "I wouldn't trust secrets to someone within minutes of meeting them, either. Consider my offer something to keep in mind in the future. Perhaps we share similar interests..."

That said, Sebastian was a little surprised that Eri seemed to have trouble with potions, but at the same time not every subject was going to be straightforward for everyone. Strengths and weaknesses were part of life, after all, though the goal seemed to be to overcome those weaknesses for the most part. That said, the students at Hogwarts were eleven, so they had a little time to work out what they were good at...

"I can see potions being an issue, yes," Sebastian said, offering a nod. "The precision and concentration required are high, and even a small distraction can ruin a promising result. Myself, I am finding most classes simple enough, though there seems to be vast differences in standards between Professors, which makes gauging effort required less than ideal."

Sebastian shrugged.

"I'm currently waiting on grades for my Transfiguration homework. I'm enjoying the complexity of the subject, and feel it offers a lot of potential," The boy continued, eyes moving to look at the lake again, watching the reflections of the sun. "I'd say it's becoming my favorite subject, though Defense Against the Dark Arts is a close second..."

Glancing to Eri, Sebastian raised an eyebrow.

"Speaking of Transfiguration, what do you think of the subject? Anything of interest there?"
