AngelFyre Plans A Date Night with @Simon Kincaid

AngelFyre had everything spread out on her bed and was ticking each item off of her mental checklist as she packed it all securely away into her Enchanted satchel. There was a blanket. Check. The magic floating candles. Check. Water thermos and cups. Check. A sandwich and fruit for her and lemon sherbets for him. Check. And a small surprise for Simon. Check.

She was both excited and nervous. It had been too long since they had been able to spend any real quality time alone together, and she had really been looking forward to the afternoon. As far as she knew, Simon had not decided about whether he was going to be at summer camp or not, so this may be their last time to be together like this for longer than AngelFyre's heart would be able to bear, but bear it she would if given no other choice. But she would face all of that later. As for right now, she had a hot date with the most handsome boy in this or any world, and she was simply going to live happily forever after in the next few hours with him.

Grabbing her satchel and a hair tie, she ran down the stairs to meet him in the Common Room before they would head off together, hand in hand, to the Training Pitch.

To the quidditch pitch with @AngelFyre McCubbin

It was a pleasant afternoon, and being a Sunday, the two didn't have to worry about the time and could enjoy the day in one another's company. He would do his best to enjoy it, as the school year was starting to blossom to its end and the two would soon, unfortunately, be apart. As for how long that would be, he wasn't yet sure.

The two had spent that morning doing their own Bible study of sorts. This had been their Sunday morning ritual since the two had discovered one another's love for the Lord and His teachings. It was there that they had discussed heading onto the grounds and so he set off to prepare for an afternoon together. Simon brought with him his normal belongings in his satchel and slipped the radio inside before grabbing his broom. "You're staying this time, Rasc. Sorry dude, but we don't need a third wheel."

The gray rat was busy slumbering on his little hammock and didn't even open his eyes to acknowledge Simon's words. There was absolutely no desire by animal to want to be anywhere but right where he was.

Simon then headed down to the Common Room where he met up with AngelFyre and walked with her. "I'm glad we could clear our schedules to spend all day together," he said with a smile as he squeezed her hand softly. "I don't think I've ever written an essay for History of Magic so quickly. It actually didn't seem half bad either - might even get an O on it." Maybe he always needed such motivation of going to see a pretty girl right after he finished an essay. He'd most likely never have a problem getting an essay finished ever again.

Playfully Serious with @Simon Kincaid
As they arrived at the quidditch training pitch, she smiled quite broadly at the round about compliment without looking at him, but decided to tease him as always. "I am glad that we could have the chance to be together, at the the training pitch, too. Confidentially, I have to admit to how much I will miss this spot, even if I am only separated from it a day let alone a few weeks. It has been all I could think about since our Bible study this morning. There was just nothing like the thrill of knowing that the quidditch pitch lay before me as some sort of super incentive to get my studying done. It was practically an all-consuming call on my concentration to be honest."

She willed herself not to look at him as she disengaged her hand from his... an incredibly rare event whenever they were together... and started to proclaim with evermore rapturous excitement in her voice that, "In fact, I found myself at one point repeating 'quidditch pitch', 'quidditch pitch', 'quidditch pitch' like some sort of mantra, not of the mind but of the heart, and when I looked down at my homework, after who knows how long, I found I had actually been scribbling it as well. I swear it felt, and still feels, like some sort of magnetic draw unlike anything I have ever known." Then she stopped altogether and stammered, "Wait. I think - No, no. That is not it. Maybe -" AngelFyre began to almost frantically check each of her jeans' pockets, and then turned to fumbling through the odd bits of parchments in her satchel until there was quite a satisfactorily abrupt, "Aha! Here it is!" Then she finally turned to Simon and still without making eye contact with him, she held up the homework parchment in question right in front of his face, blocking their view of each other entirely. Sure enough, if he looked at it carefully, he would see that it was, in fact, an early draft of some of her homework, but all along the borders were written 'Simon Kincaid', "Simon Kincaid", 'Simon Kincaid'.

With the parchment still held up between them, she began to laugh and s l o w l y lowered it, her ocean blue eyes dancing with mischievous glee. "In the words of the great Sheldon Cooper, my love, 'Bazinga!'" And knowing no one was around to see any of it, she laughed without a care in the world as she dropped everything and jumped into his arms, hooking her legs behind him at her ankles and her arms together around his neck. Her sea foams were now even with his golden browns, but the mirth was replaced with the desire to kiss him, long and slow, so she did.

When she finally pulled back from his luscious lips, she pressed her cheek against his and just held in that position, holding him close and breathing him in deeply. Her voice soft and full of emotion, AngelFyre whispered in his ear, "You are the only mantra my heart and mind knows."

At the Pitch with @AngelFyre McCubbin

Her bag was over her shoulder and his was over his, with one hand holding onto the broom but he was still effortlessly able to keep her stability as she jumped into his arms. Would a normal thirteen year old boy be able to? - Most likely not. Luckily for him it wasn't any problem in the least.

"You know, you write my name a lot," he said as he smiled about the paper. It reminded him of the paper he had found at the Library when he offered to help her re-shelve her books and he had seen his name scripted out on a few homework pages when they studied together in the Common Room. He liked the way his name looked in her handwriting, just as he liked the way his name sounded in her voice. Simon smiled, feeling she should probably know that. "I like the way it looks in your handwriting. I like the way it sounds when you say it, too."

Still with her in his arms he headed toward the Quidditch Training Pitch. This one was often not used as frequently since it didn't offer all the amenities of the regular Quidditch Pitch. They got into the shade from the wall and he dropped his broom, then tossed down his bag and did the same with hers before twirling her around in a circle before coming in for one more kiss before gently lowering her to the ground.

"So tell me, what are your intentions for bringing me out here all alone?" he asked and raised an eyebrow dramatically as he looked to her and tried to surpress a smile but he wasn't successful. "Going to steal my broom? Beat me up? ...Something worse?"

Tempus Fugit @Simon Kincaid And So Must We

Loving being spun around, she clung to him even more tightly and savored the bonus kiss before he gently set her down. Quickly assessing the haphazard scattering of their things all around them, she could not help but laugh. "We have been here less than two minutes and already it looks like a mini cyclone has hit." Looking over to Simon as he playfully questioned her reasons for bringing him out to the pitch, she arched an eyebrow right back at him and said, "Steal your broom? Beat you up? Pfffffft. Both nothing but child's play. No, it is worse than both of those.... much worse I am afraid. I asked you out here for a picnic. You will get the distinct pleasure of watching me eat my sandwich and my **gasp** 'sacred fruit' as you once called it."

She turned about until she spied her satchel not far from his and picked them both up. It was easy to tell the difference in the otherwise identical bags because hers had the Badger pin he had given her on her birthday pinned to the shoulder strap. "It will not all be bad. I also brought cold water and some of your lemon sherbets just in case you want a hit of something." As she was speaking, she had put his bag over her shoulder while emptying hers. She first removed and then spread out the blanket and sat down, patting a spot not too far away from her, wordlessly inviting him to stretch out next to her. When he had, she then turned his satchel over to his care and continued unpacking hers. Next came the sandwich, fruit, and lemon drops, which she placed within his reach. The oversized water thermos followed and then came a little surprise for him. "If you are thirsty, love, I also brought some cups. Trying to cut down on the plastic pollution, you know," and she winked as she set one of the two identical cups before him.

"We each have one! I could not resist them and had them tailor-made for us. And if you look closely, our names even appear on the luggage! I know you do not have your owl yet, but he will be coming one day, so I included good ol' Perseus as a happy harbinger of things to come." Smiling widely at him as he inspected the details on the cup, she next brought out two of the floating, magical candles. "I brought these because I thought they might be romantic if we are still here when it gets dark. Hope springs eternal in this heart of mine, Mr. Kincaid, I cannot lie," and she leaned over and kissed the top of his head.

"And last, but not least, I have this for you," and she pulled out a wrapped gift for him this time.

As he would open it, he would discover the box contained a broom compass. "I am not certain that you would be able to use it during competitions, but the compass you carry from your Aunt Maggie gave me the idea. I know you have a fabulous sense of direction, but even you cannot see through a dense fog. If you have this, I know you will be safer and will always be able to find your way back to me. In fact, I thought we could try it out together today if you think you are up to it." She had been aimlessly running her fingers through his hair while she had watched him open it, marveling yet again at how soft his hair was. "We have never flown together, but my idea was that instead of flying separately, it would be fun to ride with Hufflepuff's broom racing hero against Ravenclaw."

Then she quietly challenged him with a smile in her eyes."Care to sweep me off my feet?"

Getting the broom ready with @AngelFyre McCubbin

Simon wasn't expecting there to be a gift here and he wished he had an end of the year present for AngelFyre. At least she now had her cellphone for her twelfth Birthday and when the two would part ways after the train ride to Kings Cross, he knew they could still easily keep in touch. Then there was always the possibility of Summer Camp which right now he was unsure of.

He looked at the cups and smiled, catching both the references that were made on the one and the resemblance to themselves on the other. "Even if I weren't thirsty, I don't think I could pass up using one of these," he said as he took the water and poured some into the cup with the sayings on it.

Simon took a sip from it and then took the blue and gold wrapped present into his hands, wondering what it could be. He wouldn't shake it, because it could be something breakable and he didn't want to risk it. Instead, he'd find out by opening it and so that's what he did, finding a golden broom compass inside. "I didn't even know they made these sorts of things," he said honestly as he tilted it and turned a little to see the needle inside move. It was very cool and glanced back to AngelFyre, smiling in thanks.

Simon got up and while AngelFyre ate her dry sandwiches and too-sweet fruit, he would attach it to his broom, ensuring it was in just the right spot and at the right angle so he could see it without too much glare. Once he was sure it was in the right place, he propped his broom up nicely and came to join her once again on the picnic blanket.

"Silver Arrow, party of two, ready at your convenience, m'lady."

Up! Up! And Away! with @Simon Kincaid

She caught the brief look of uneasy surprise that spread across Simon's face when she brought out the cups and the wrapped present. "Unh uh. None of that now. These are 'Just Because' gifts," and she looked at him tenderly. "I promise when I give you something it is because I truly want to and not because I have an expectation that you have something for me, okay?' And after a few moments of dedicated study of the wrapped gift carefully in his hands, she watched happily as he opened it.

Smiling to herself as Simon took his broom compass out and inspected it, AngelFyre reached for her sandwich and took a few bites. Yummmm. It was a delicious veggie sandwich with baby spinach, cucumber, tomatoes, provolone cheese, bean sprouts, and black olives resting between a light spread of avocado covered sourdough bread slices. There was also a dill pickle spear she had wrapped to go along with it on the side. She knew none of it would appeal to her dhampir boyfriend, but she was in gastronomic heaven. She ate slowly... she was never one to scarf down her food... as she watched him grab his broom in one hand and the compass in the other. It was on the tip of her tongue to ask him if the smell of her food, or anyone's food really, bothered him, but he was a little engrossed in his own thoughts at the moment.

AngelFyre truly loved watching Simon tinker and think about things. Had it been hers to put on her broom, she would have likely simply slapped it on and been done with it, but not Simon. He slid it up and down the handle a number of times trying to find just the right spot. Then once he had determined that, he still fidgeted with it, making what seemed to be a series of the tiniest of incremental adjustments. Taking the last bite of her sandwich and a few sips of her water, she could not stand the suspense any longer. Out of a genuine sense of curiosity she asked, "What, precisely, are you doing now?" When he responded that he was adjusting for glare, she could not help but be impressed with his attention to detail.

Just as she had finished removing the remnants of a lunch having been recently enjoyed back into her satchel, she sat cross-legged and grabbed one of his lemon drops and popped it into her mouth. His fondness for lemon drops had reignited a long forgotten fondness of her own for the tart little devils. With the exception of almost anything milk chocolate, AngelFyre preferred sour to sweet any day of the week.

"Silver Arrow, party of two, ready at your convenience, m'lady."

She applauded a job well done as he joined her back on the picnic blanket. "I am excited to fly the friendly skies with you, to be sure, but I seem to have misplaced my boarding pass. I hope that is not going to be a problem," and she chuckled as she tousled his hair, which of course, fell immediately back into place as if it had not just been touched. He has to have put some kind of perfection enchantment on it, right? Funny. He loves his hair to be just so and hers to be less so. She was in love with a living, breathing, walking contradiction... and would not have it any other way.

"Come on, Mav. Show me what you got. I have been looking forward to this for a while," and she grabbed his hand as she got up even though he had just sat back down. Once standing, she tied and secured her hair back in a low bun so it would not interfere with his flying. He generally loved her hair in his face, but not this time. Safety first! When he brought his Silver Arrow over, now beautifully appointed with his compass, she made a suggestion to him. "If that should be deemed illegal equipment to have during your next broom race, you should make a couple of marks on your handle before removing it so you do not have to go through the whole adjustment process anew each time," and she smiled, pleased that she may have just been of some help to him, though she suspected he had already thought of it long ago himself.

She followed Simon out into the open and away from anything that could impede their takeoff or present any dangers. Her heart was racing in glorious anticipation. She loved riding with her father on his motorcycle, but she just knew this was going to surpass that for a couple of reasons, first and foremost because it would be with Simon. Nuff said there. He got on and in position first and then she straddled the broom behind him, pressing against him while wrapping her arms around his waist. Just plain giddy with the anticipation of it all, she asked "Have you ever piloted with a passenger in tow?"

He waited, not just until she got behind him but until she brought her arms around him and leaned a bit into him. As they would lift off, he could tell his balance on the broomstick but he wouldn't know hers and if she was bringing some of her center of gravity closer to him then he could start getting a feel for how she was doing. He wouldn't want to go up too high too fast either, not on their first ride together, until he could see how well the two would be able to balance this.

With her body coming closer to his, he glanced back over his shoulder and gave her a smile before leaning back so that he could quickly give her a kiss and then turned to focus his attention ahead, Once off the ground, just three feet or so, and doing just fine, he tilted the broomstick up and now he could use that speed to make their climb upward.

"My favorite parts are the Scottish Highlands, the mountain pass you can see right beyond the Great Lake, and the covered bridge from the third floor of the castle," he spoke of the wooden trestle bridge.

Once they reached a fairly good altitude, he now focused on direction. Looking at his new flashy compass, he went North toward the Highland mountains to show off that particular site. It was neat to be able to navigate through the use of instruments and not just by landmarks alone.

"We practice saves in broom racing," he said now that they would be able to talk more easily as they were going with the wind, rather than against it when they were making their climb upward. "So technically you may not have been my first passenger, but you're my favorite."

Simon looked back now to AngelFyre since the flying skills right now were rather commonplace for him now. Possibly though, unless she tested it, they would be flying higher than she would have in Flying class and he certainly had practiced enough himself that he had good control and ease, despite his wavering attention. She needn't worry. She was in safe hands. Simon would never let anything bad happen to her if he could help it.

Taking a moment just to watch her watch their surroundings, he focused on her eyes. They always held such clarity in them in them and he often wondered, those times she was quiet, what she was thinking, what she was feeling. He was lucky that she did a pretty good job expressing herself and he usually didn't have to remain in the dark. "How are you liking it? Ready to take this to the next level? Go faster?"

Flying High with @Simon Kincaid

Having a wealth of experience under her belt from riding piggyback with her father on the back of his motorcycle, AngelFyre was crystal clear in understanding that balance was the key to safety in such a circumstance. It would be no different riding high in the sky on the back of Simon's broom today. She knew how it felt to balance herself on the school broom in Flying class. She could always find her sweet spot rather quickly and was actually very good on a broom. Heights and speed never scared her, but she was a stickler for all of the safety protocols. Even so, she knew she was in Simon's very capable hands and it never once crossed her mind to think otherwise. AngelFyre scooted even closer to him, closing any distance, however small it had been, between them, squeezing him a just a little tighter for a moment and then eased up a bit. Simon, glanced back and smiled and kissed her before placing his concentration where it needed to be.

She smiled to herself, with her left cheek pressed against his upper back. Simon was naturally right handed, so she knew if he would speak to her at all during this little adventure of theirs, he would automatically turn to his right side to do it. It was a happy luck of the draw that AngelFyre was naturally a southpaw, so this made it more comfortable for both of them and guaranteed that she would more likely be able to hear him if the need to do so arose. As he did the kind of pre-check for balance at the three foot off the ground level, she could not get it out of her head that she was about to fly with her very own Top Gun. Now that Simon had a true feel for their center of balance as a unit, he was ready to take them up.

As both their incline and speed picked up, she was at first struck by how much smoother and more comfortable a ride on his Silver Arrow provided over all the school brooms she had flown. She was impressed... and thrilled... with how quickly it seemed to respond to his slightest gesture. She always felt like the school brooms had a little bit of drag and delay in responding, but maybe she was just imagining it. As she looked around at the beauty below and around them, a lump came to her throat. She had been on plane flights a number of times and had seen the earth below from dizzying heights, but that was in the confines of a metal tube, viewed through a small window, cropping her view instead of allowing a view of the bigger picture. Right here, right now, she had the wind on her face and no enclosure or tiny window limiting her view. It was one of the most beautiful sights she could remember, made even moreso because she was sharing it with Simon.

She listened happily as he shared what his favorites views were from up here, and she patted his thigh in acknowledgement and agreement. She had to agree with him. It was all just glorious. She had seen these things in Flying class, but maybe there was just something about sharing it that made it different for her now. It was also likely it was due to the fact that she did not have to be the one to focus on piloting right then. Simon had much more experience in flying his broom, so he could afford to let his attention wander a bit whereas AngelFyre had to be all business when at the helm handle. Then she laughed and spoke out to him. "Tell the truth, love. Has it ever crossed that dragon-crazed mind of yours to fly over the Forbidden Forest just to see if you could catch a glimpse of a dragon?" She knew he would never do such a thing, of course, but she suspected the thought had crossed his mind only a million times or so. "My money says the answer to that question is a resounding 'Yes'," and she smiled knowingly.

Happy that he seemed to be enjoying navigating with his compass, she looked down. She was never that great at estimating distances, so she had no clue really how high they were. "I looked very hard to see if they sold a model that also had an altimeter and even a sonar screen as well. They did not, but on a foggy flight, both of those would be exceptionally helpful to broom flyers as well, I would think."

She pressed her forehead momentarily into his back as she squeezed him a little more tightly. "Aww, Simon. You, my love, are such a sweet talker. Flattery, of course, will get you everywhere ..." she teased in response to his comment about her being his favorite passenger, "... well, that and your magnificent broom compass that is."

They then flew for a few minutes in silence as he made wide sweeps to give the best visuals of the scenery around and below them. It was so relaxing just being able to enjoy each other's company... to just be. AngelFyre was just so incredibly happy in the moment. She wanted to enjoy everything about it because she knew there was something she would be bringing up to him later on when back on the ground; something that had been bothering her for a while. She felt pretty certain that topic would leave neither of them with the same warm fuzzies they were now experiencing, but all she could do was pray for guidance and trust her fella to know that she always.... always.... had his very best interest at heart. When he turned to look back at her after a few minutes, she smiled into his beautiful golden brown eyes in absolute wonder and gratitude and a good deal of conviction as well.

"How am I liking it?" She leaned forward, laughing delightedly, and kissed his turned cheek. "I am absolutely LOVING it! And I absolutely love you, Simon Kincaid!" And the last she yelled at the top of her lungs into the air, her head craned completely back, likening her verbal expression, in her mind, to the visual equivalent of a plane flying with a banner behind it stating, AngelFyre Loves Simon! It crossed her mind to wonder if anyone could hear her below, but she did not care. She kissed his cheek again, her eyes sparkling.

"Next level it is, Mav. Like our day on the ice, all I can say to you is that I feel the need... the need for speed!"

Sacred moments with @AngelFyre McCubbin

Height was no problem for him but it was speed where a broom racer really excelled. "Hold on tight," he said as he titled them forward so that they could get the best angle to the wind and they took off! His eyes focused ahead, he made sure there were no obstacles in his way as he whipped around the Whomping Willow, past the Clock Tower, and around nearly the entire grounds in hardly any time at all. It was an adrenaline rush for sure, and feeling her hold him tighter just made the moment all the better.

When he did slow down, he treated it like a run - slowly lowering speed until they finally came to a leisurely sort of slow steadiness. He would take them to their original starting point - the Quidditch Training Pitch and ultimately it would be a good place to finish their picnic of sorts. A shadow had been casted by the walls creating a nice place to a dhampir and his girlfriend to share the afternoon, while the sun was still too harsh near the Grounds or the Great Lake.

Simon came back to the ground, his feet finding their way and his center of gravity coming into play and he gave it another moment so that AngelFyre could do the same and then they dismounted. He propped his broom over in a corner and came back over to where their satchels were. He was about ready to open his to take a drink from his water bottle but he remembered the spiffy cups and went to use that instead.

He sat down and patted the shaded ground next to him. After she'd join him, he'd lean in, brush some of her hair behind her ear on one side and lean in to whisper, "thank you for sharing that with me," before kissing her lips, once softly, and the next more slower and drawn out.

Simon tried to really take in these moments with her, not only because their relationship itself seemed to be strengthening, but because soon Summer would keep them apart for awhile - at least physically.
