Her heart dropped as the train lurched forward, she watched as her brother and mother shrink into nothingness swarmed by other parents and kids waving goodbye. She roamed the corridors of the train looking for any open compartments. Luckily she managed to find one, she pulled her heavy trunk inside and struggled to lift it onto the racks.
"UGH! Why did they make us pack so much stuff?"
She hissed underneath her breath as she rubbed her head where the corner of her trunk hit her. She feel into the seat behind her leaving the trunk on the seat in front where it had landed. Still angrily mumbling she sat down and opened up a small package her mother had packed. Inside it contained a few snacks, some galleons, and a letter. She pocketed the galleons and reached over to grab the letter. Tearing it open, she pulled out the parchment as she picked it up something fluttered down onto her lap paying no attention to it she read the lengthy note her mother had written.
Dear Camilia,

As you know there is much for you to learn about magic. Though you may have heard me and your siblings discuss magic and magical abilities doesn't mean you know everything. This is a good opportunity for you to learn about different cultures and different ways of spell castings. Remember to keep your chin up, this is not a time for you to return to that shell you used to live in. Make friends that will benefit you and our family, I know that this will be tough for you to transfer into this new life, but you are strong and have a good head on your shoulders so do make sure you use it. This is a time for you to start fresh and make your own way into the world, so don't dilly dally and play around. Stay focused on our goals, mi amor. You can do it, the family and I believe in you. Now I wrote down a small list of rules you should follow that should keep you in a good relationship with your teachers. It is the second piece of parchment that should be attached to this letter. Remember that your family loves you.

Have a good school year!
Your Mother,
Cathelina Torres.

Camilia sighed, her parents have always wanted the best for their kids but it always just seemed like a load of pressure to her. She reached for the rules her mother had written to her and skimmed over it. Seemed like it was all the same strange rules she had told Camilia the day she turned 11. Her mother was right though moving had been tough on her. It had been at least 4 years since Camilia lived in Spain, oh how she missed her old homeland. She thought of her old garden the first place she had ever experienced magic. It all seemed so long ago even though it had just been what? Three years or Five? As she was thinking about her past a slip of paper fell off her lap and fluttered beneath the seats in front of her. Kneeling on the ground of the compartment she reached down and picked up another small piece of parchment. Just then the train seemed to hit a bump which sent her upwards into the seat's underside.
"Why does this train hate me so muuuchh!"

Camilia muttered angrily in Spanish. She sat up still clutching the piece of paper, as small tears swelled in her eyes from the pain. That was the second time she had hit the same place on her head today on this godforsaken train. She turned the piece of paper over and this time tears actually started to fall. It was a picture of her family, her sisters and brothers all together with her mother and father in front of their old house. Tears rolled down her eyes as she stared at the picture. How she longed to be back there, they all had such happy times. Until Mother and Father both got offered jobs here in England that paid better. She gulped and quickly wiped the tears off trying to make herself look at least presentable. After putting the picture and letters inside of her trunk she turned to the window looking at the flashing sceneries of the countryside. She sighed and numbly shut her eyes knowing after this train ride nothing would ever be the same.

Marcee huffed trying to catch her breath as the train lurked forward, making her lose her balance. She fell forward not so gracefully and shot out her hands, saving herself just in time before she could have landed straight on her face. The girl groaned softly as she stood up. She turned around and saw that she was in a student’s way, and she quickly stood aside muttering “Sorry.”

‘You almost missed the train because you were distracted by a poster, and now you’re embarrassing yourself? Not a very good start, Marcee.’ She thought to herself and scoffed. Marcee looked around and found that most of the students were now in the compartments, and she was the only one standing dumbly in the corridor.

She sighed and took another deep breath, telling herself that everything was going to be fine. She was mainly excited to have a new start at Hogwarts with new friends, but she could not deny that her insides were flipping over, nervousness clear on her face. Marcee then walked through the train, timidly glancing through the glass to find an empty compartment.

When she almost reached the end of the express and all of the compartments were filled with students, she began to lose hope. ‘Well, it couldn’t be that bad to stand here until I get to Hogwarts, right?’ She thought. She frowned upon realizing she had no idea how much time it would take for this journey. The girl scrunched up her nose, shaking her head to clear her thoughts, when she spotted an almost-empty space out of the corner of her eyes.

Quickly she made her way to the compartment and peeked inside. Marcee spotted a girl, seemingly her age, leaning against the window with her eyes closed. She hesitated for a second; maybe she shouldn’t disturb her? ‘But it wouldn’t hurt to ask, would it?’ She thought. She made up her mind and knocked softly on the glass separating them.

“Excuse me, can I join you?” She questioned with a small smile.

Habib got onto the train, he began to look for an empty compartment and found one he was far too much in his own head to bother to ask if he could sit there and just plopped himself down on one of the empty seats as he sat down though he was stomach in knots he was about to go to Hogwarts the school where legends great or terrible were made a school with an extremely bad track record of keeping its students safe. The school that was taught by some of the greatest professors in magical Britain and was the greatest school in magical Britain and now he was going to the school. He began to panic what if he wasn't good enough what if things went wrong what if there was some accident on the train. 'ok calm down Habib,' he mentally reprimanded himself 'you're spiralling, look at it as a show,' yeah like a show with a new stage new actors and a new audience this made Habib look at the prospect of Hogwarts in a completely different light, Hogwarts was a chance to fulfill his ambitions make life long friends and eventually be the foundation of him being heralded as being the greatest magizooologist the wizarding world had ever seen. His mind thought about the recurring dream he kept having.

there he was on a stage with the curtains pulled back, his usual ringmaster attire bore the crest of his mother's family, (his beef with her did not extend to grandma and grandpa) a crescent moon with a star in the centre. Behind him was an adorable pink bunny that was blowing rather large bubbles there was flora at his feet, cats riding on stars and swings, a beautiful starry night sky, a giraffe and a house that seemed to be carved out of the moon itself. This was his favourite dream so it was always rather disappointing whenever he woke up from it. Since he had calmed himself a bit he realized what he had just done turning to look at the girl he gave a sheepish grin "my apologies I didn't mean to just walk in unannounced." Habib silently cursed himself he had been taught by his father to always maintain proper etiquette 'well congratulations Habib you failed that spectacularly.'

The sound of the compartment door being knocked on awoke Camilia from her light slumber. She opened her eyes wearily and turned her head to face the entrance of the compartment. A small girl was outside the glass with her luggage behind her. She seemed to be breathing rather hard with an expression of nervousness. Camilia looked upon the girl curiously until she noticed that she was still half lying down and sitting up, her face started flushing a soft crimson color as she repositioned herself so there would be more room for the girl to sit. Though it was muffled she heard the other first year ask,
“Excuse me, can I join you?”

Camilia nodded her head still rather sleepy, before the girl entered she quickly noted the mess around the seats and on the floors. There were pieces of parchment from the envelopes and the letters scattered about. Camilia quickly apologized for the mess stating,
"Oh my goodness, I am so sorry! I forgot that there were going to be others joining me. It's rather embarrassing I made such a mess in a short period of time. I hope you don't mind....."

She finished the sentence rather awkwardly, and hurried around the compartment trying to make it presentable and as comfortable it was when she first entered. She placed the parchment inside her trunk taking a mental note to throw it out later. After finishing the clean up she turned back to the girl and motioned for her to take a seat realizing that she had probably been standing the entire train ride.
So... umm... I.. uh.. Oh! I know how did shopping in diagon alley go for you-
But before Camilia could finish she heard the compartment doors slide open again. Confused she turned to see a boy who walked in and just set himself down in front of her. He didn't seem to mind barging in at all. Camilia huffed a little angry, as the boy just sat there minding his own business for what seemed like ages. (Even though it probably was just 1 minute or 2) There was an awkward air in the compartment before, but as soon as the boy entered it steadily worsened. The boy seemed to be whispering to himself, something about Hogwarts and getting sorted into a house? Camilia was beginning to think this boy was either not taught proper manners or was having a nervous break down, but he could of at least knocked or something. She rolled her eyes and fiddled with her robes trying to keep her eyes of the two kids. Suddenly though the boy spoke,
"My apologies I didn't mean to just walk in unannounced."
Camilia was slightly surprised by the boy's sudden apology but the manners her mother drilled into her made Camilia accept his apology,
"Hmph, you needn't worry I suppose this whole Hogwarts thing has us all a little anxious, so I accept your apology."
Even though it was a proper apology her tone still sounded annoyed. Camilia was still overtired and a little upset so she kept quiet until someone else spoke up.
─────Upon seeing the other girl’s nod, Marcee pushed open the compartment door. She glanced around to find what seemed like pieces of parchment scattered around, and began to wonder if she should collect them for the other girl. Just as she was about to say something, the girl’s expression changed into one of flustered.
"Oh my goodness, I am so sorry! I forgot that there were going to be others joining me. It's rather embarrassing I made such a mess in a short period of time. I hope you don't mind....." she stated, hurriedly picking up the paper. Marcee smiled to herself, knowing that she would’ve done the same if she had been in a compartment too. She wasn’t very proud of her knack to get messy all the time.
“It’s alright.” She said, but her voice came out more quiet than she thought. She knew the girl in the compartment must not have heard it when she motioned Marcee to take a seat inside. She opened her mouth again to repeat what she had said, but eventually just nodded politely and plopped down, her legs slightly aching.
After a few seconds of awkward silence, the girl stuttered out, “So... umm... I.. uh.. Oh! I know how did shopping in diagon alley go for you-“
With a small bang, the compartment door slid open again without warning. Marcee lifted her gaze to study a brown haired boy who just walked in. He rather grumpily sat down next to her, and she squirmed before scooting over to the far edge of the seat to make more room for him. She made small glances at the other two students that sat with her, noting that the girl didn’t look very happy upon the boy’s arrival. She turned her head to face the boy- who was apparently too immersed in his own thoughts to pay attention to his surroundings. ‘Kinda rude,’ she thought, but she let it slide as she tried to think of an interesting topic to make conversation.
Marcee opened her mouth to talk, but she picked up that it wasn’t really a good time to speak. The boy was now whispering to himself while the girl gave him angry looks, and now studying her robes like it was the most interesting thing in the world, waiting for this awkwardness to end.
The boy flinched when he finally notice the two of them staring at him. "My apologies I didn't mean to just walk in unannounced." He quickly said.
Before she could say something, the other girl spoke out, "Hmph, you needn't worry I suppose this whole Hogwarts thing has us all a little anxious, so I accept your apology." Marcee just nodded in agreement, and shifted her gaze to her. The girl sounded tired and still annoyed making Marcee worried about the atmosphere of the small space.
And after another round of silence - not the comforting kind, rather unnerving - she found that no one was willing to speak. So she mustered up the courage inside her to ask, “So, what are your names?” As soon as the words left her mouth she mentally face palmed. The other girl had asked about her trip to Diagon Alley, no doubt trying to make her comfortable. And here she was, outwardly asking - more like demanding, she felt - for the students’ names. Marcee knew the question might make things more awkward, and she shifted in her seat uneasily.

The train rumbled and the wheels clattered as it continued along the tracks heading towards Hogwarts. Camilia sat across from a brown haired boy with a girl sitting besides her, as they sat in silence. Wondering who would dare start a conversation she tried to get in a more comfortable position. She pulled her knees up to her chin and rested her head on her kneecaps staring out the window watching the sun fade away. Camilia yawned it had been an emotional day and now she was stuck in a compartment with two other kids she barely knew. It was an uncomfortable silence as they others seemed to be entertaining themselves quietly no one dared uttered a word. So she wouldn't bother trying to start the process, so she let herself slide in and out of consciousness. The rumble of the train and the swirling wind would have put her to sleep, yet something wouldn't let her it was probably the hunger that resided in her stomach. Camilia could hear her stomach gurgle complaints but she didn't have any food and wasn't aware of anyway to get some. However she was distracted by the girl saying something.
“So, what are your names?”

Camilia hadn't remembered to introduce herself? She giggled quietly at herself before speaking up.
Oh! Hello, I guess this is our official introduction! My name is Camilia Torres, though technically it was suppose to be Camilla, but my father might have misspelled it when the doctors asked for my name. Apparently my mother was still unconscious and the doctors had said to wait, but my father impulsively had done it himself. So, sorry if it's not spelled the way it sounds!

She laughed still trying to get through icy breach of awkwardness. A little bit more confident she turned to the boy. Tilting her head slightly as she analyzed the boy's appearance, he was a small boy with well defined features, he had soft eyes that were multiple different colors. She could definitely tell that he came from a pureblood family. Though his clothes were weird muggle clothing that reminded her of a matador's attire, he held a solemn air which you would only see from the wealthy. However the girl had a distinct air of freedom most likely raised in a happy household not having to deal with many social pressures. Camilia was glad to be in the presences of two kids that she probably could get along with if she just could figure out how to maintain a conversation. She would wait for the boy and the other girl to introduce themselves.

So in the meantime Camilia would just twiddle with her thumbs staring out the window, but suddenly a knock was heard on a compartment door. Camilia turned once more to see an older lady with a trolley of candies. Before the others could do anything she got up quickly and half walked and half ran to the door taking out galleons. She happily exchanged them for some jelly beans and chocolate frogs, then walked slowly back to her seat cheeks slightly flushed with excitement and embarrassment. Munching sounds could now be heard by the window where Camilia sat comfortably chewing on the many candies she had bought.

As the train continued to go further and further the tension in the air reached an all-time high the girl who had originally had enough manners to ask to join the compartment asked for their names as Camilia give her name habib gave his "The name's Habib Acropolis showman wonder." This whole confident showman thing seemed like he had become a completely different person from that anxious reserved first impression. Then the compartment door slid open and the trolley girl came in offering candy. Reaching in his pockets he gave her the required payment he bought 3 cauldron cakes and twenty droobles. As he laid his haul out on to the table he ignored what was probably raised eyebrows and confused looks he saw that Camila was analyzing him and gave her a cocky grin. "You like what you see. I know I'm handsome but you don't have to stare." Of course Habib knew that the girl wasn't looking at him in that way. Yet those azure eyes had a piercing quality to them Habib had a feeling this girl was far more perceptive than he gave her credit for. "About diagon alley it was a good trip i was able to get my wand and I've had it by my side ever since," patting his other pocket "so how about you gals."
───── Marcee waited quietly for the others introduced themselves. “Oh! Hello, I guess this is our official introduction! My name is Camilia Torres,” the girl first said. Marcee liked the sound of her Spanish accent rolling off the girl’s tongue. ‘Pretty name.’ She thought to herself. Camilia shared the story behind her name, and she smiled to herself at the mention of her parents. Her mind wandered off as she thought about hers - she hadn’t seen her mum in a while, and she wanted to know how she was doing. After her introduction, the girl gave a short laugh and Marcee could see she was trying hard to break the awkwardness.

── Camilia Torres seemed like a nice girl. Her posture shifted into one of confidence as her eyes studied the other two, and Marcee smiled lightly when they made eye contact. Just then the boy also spoke up. “The name’s Habib Acropolis showman wonder.” His voice was loud and clear and for a minute she envied the boy for the confidence he showed.

── A second later there was a knock at the compartment door and the snack trolley rolled into their view. Marcee hesitated as Camilia and the boy bought sweets from the trolley lady, her hands clutching over the galleons inside her pocket. She had been saving up some money for a while now and didn’t want to spend so much on her own snacks. Nonetheless, the sight of the candies piled up on the trolley made her mouth water. In the end she bought a small package of Bertie Bott’s Every Flavour Beans.

── She ripped open the bag carefully and popped one in her mouth. Instantly she regretted it with all her life, because it started to smell (…and taste!) like barf as her mouth watered with disgust. She had picked a yellowish jelly bean hoping it would be her favorite flavour - a lemon, but she hadn’t expected it to be, in fact, barf. Her eyes watered a little as she looked around trying to find an excuse to escape the compartment. Then it dawned on her, Camilia and Habib both introduced themselves and was waiting for her to do the same.

── Marcee forcefully swallowed the small candy and opened her mouth to speak, but she missed the timing when Habib spoke. “You like what you see. I know I'm handsome but you don't have to stare.” He said in a cocky manner, nodding his head at Camilia. The level of confidence was at another level, and Marcee made a mental note of his demeanor- she really wanted to be more confident like him. “About diagon alley it was a good trip i was able to get my wand and I've had it by my side ever since, so how about you gals.” He asked casually.

── Marcee took the chance and finally made an introduction. “Well, my name is Marcee Laurier. But others usually just call me Mar or Marce,” she stated. “And Diagon Alley, it was great! I loved looking into the shop windows, the displays were all so beautifully done. Ollivanders was amazing for me too, I almost screamed when the first wand that I tried using caught on fire.” She chuckled and babbled on to lighten the mood, “I went into Magical Menagerie and saw all the animals there. I’ve always wanted an owl, maybe even a ferret. I’m currently saving up my allowance for one.”

── Marcee shared her experiences of the visit rather excitedly. She glanced at the other two students after she finished, silently encouraging them to share theirs too. Meanwhile as she waited she let her mind wander off again - her thoughts usually jumped around a lot - this time about the pet store she just talked about. She started to ponder on names for her future pet - It was too early for that, she knew, but it wasn’t her fault that she was excited -, until one of her new friends spoke.

The stars filled the skies as the train took them closer and closer to the school that would change everything, Hogwarts. The scenery had changed from the smooth well kept fields to a rough mountain range with several small lakes in between the gaping cliffs. Camilia had finished her chocolate frogs and Bertie Bott's Every Flavour Beans. Setting the empty packages aside she listened to Habid who was introducing himself. She deemed Habid as a confident boy or at least the tone he spoke in made it seem so.
"The name's Habib Acropolis showman wonder."

Showman? The name sounded familiar but she couldn't quite place it. Wasn't that something muggles did with those enslaved animals? She pushed the though aside and turned to the girl who was still being quiet. Camilia watched the girl get up and get some Bertie Botts from the old trolly woman. Seeing this upset Camilia just a little bit if the girl would have asked her, Camilia would have shared. Her eyes wandered back to Habid who just happened to be sitting infront of her. She rested her head against her hands thinking about these two potential friends. Her thoughts however were interrupted by the boy who was now speaking in an arrogant tone,

“You like what you see. I know I'm handsome but you don't have to stare.”

Camilia's face flushed with anger, did this boy really think she was looking at him because she wanted to? Wasn't it normal for a girl to space out in thought. Camilia took a deep breath, she was not going to let Habid have the joy of getting underneath her skin. Now calm she looked at him and simply stated:
Oh was I? I didn't even notice you, must be because you blend into the seats with that muggle attire on. Anyways Habid you probably should change into your robes, as I presume that we will be arriving soon.

Camilia leaned back into the chair a little bit pleased with herself, this time she sat facing the window not even glancing back at the boy after she had spoken her piece. Yet again though, Habid spoke up in the same confident voice:
“About diagon alley it was a good trip I was able to get my wand and I've had it by my side ever since, so how about you gals.”
When had diagon alley been brought up? Oh wait, Camilia had brought it up earlier just when Habid had entered the compartment. Man, that seemed like a long time ago even though it had probably been an hour. Before Camilia could speak up, the girl beat her to it after choking on a jelly bean.
“Well, my name is Marcee Laurier. But others usually just call me Mar or Marce,”
Camilia was surprised by the girls sudden introduction, but just thought it was probably because she was building up confidence to speak up. Which to Camilia was something she could understand. Marcee continued on with a soft voice,

“And Diagon Alley, it was great! I loved looking into the shop windows, the displays were all so beautifully done. Ollivanders was amazing for me too, I almost screamed when the first wand that I tried using caught on fire.”

Camilia had been nodding her head in agreement about Diagon alley until the part about Ollivander's and the wand exploding in flames. Marcee laughed about the incident, but Camilia was shocked by this piece of information seeing how the worst thing that happened when a wand didn't work was just buzzing slightly in her hands which made her drop it.

"One of the wands caught on fire?"

Camilia interjected,
"The worse wand reject that I can remember was it just buzzing slightly but that is just crazy! I got my wand in the first few tries, probably took me 15 minutes to find it. Señor Ollivander said it was one that he favored being a 33,0 cm ebony wood and phoenix feather. He said it was rather bendy, ideal for duels, and it is fond of fast, quick-witted and flexible wizards. Oh my Gods! I am so sorry I didn't mean to interrupt its a bad habit of mine."

Camilia blushed slightly embarrassed by the fact she wasn't able to hold her tongue. She listened as Marcee told them about her visit to Diagon Alley. This was actually quite fun surrounded by people her age talking about things that they had all been through. She hadn't hung out with any kids her age in awhile not since her family moved. She just never had the time to bother with the whole friendship ideal, but before the move she was a social butterfly probably making a new friend every day. Maybe it was because they were younger then and it was easier to connect over simple things like favorite animals or colors. Camilia just hoped she could rebuild that skill to help her journey through Hogwarts go by smoothly. Marcee was now talking about the Magical Menagerie in a very fond tone.

“I went into Magical Menagerie and saw all the animals there. I’ve always wanted an owl, maybe even a ferret. I’m currently saving up my allowance for one.”

Oh yes, Camilia remembered going into the menagerie and seeing all sorts of animals, but the one that she really wanted was a bunny. They were just so cute and fluffy!

Oh my Gosh! I went in there as well, it was just filled with the cutest little critters. I think the idea of having an owl or ferret is cool but seeing that Hogwarts already lets you use owls for free I probably will just stick to them. What I have been seriously considering is getting a pet rabbit, mostly so I can pet something soft plus I've had experience with rabbits in the past. What about you, Habid, what would you get? You seem like a cat person to me.

She giggled happily forgetting the rude comment Habid had made earlier entirely. Camilia was now to focused on learning about Habbid and Marcee. She really could see herself hanging out with them in the future or at least that's what she hoped. Camilia didn't even feel how the train started to lose speed as it neared it's destination. The train would arrive at Hogwarts in less then an hour. Only leaving so much time for the three first years to learn about each other before being separated into the different houses.

It is our choices that show what we truly are, far more than our abilities.

Habib smiled at the happy atmosphere in the cart. Habib's suspicion's about the girl were confirmed she definitely was perceptive and knew how to keep a cool head whereas most girls would give him the reaction he expected 'interesting,' he mused. "Ah, you know you love me. However, I will go do that gimme a sec'." Habib left the compartment for about 2 minutes before coming back in his pristine freshly washed robes and sat down. While he was gone the conversation seemed to have turned to magical creatures which he was more than thrilled about when they talked about what pets they wanted he chimed in. "I myself want a pet snake, something about them is so captivating not to mention every great showman needs a dangerous pet." Habib neglected to mention that another season for this was that his mother was deathly afraid of them which was great. As Camilia reacted to Marcee's description of her wand rejection Habib was also quite surprised she must be a very powerful witch. It was Habib's theory that the more violently a wand rejected you the more powerful you were like if a small ant is crawling on your counter all you're going to do is just squish it because it's not dangerous. But if a huge cockroach is there then you're going smack it HARD plenty of times to make sure it doesn't come back. Habib figured wands reacted this way when a powerful force that wasn't its chosen one it would react violently to make sure that it wouldn't happen again. Habib himself had set one of the shelves on fire yet none of the wands burned and Ollivander just gave him a knowing look. . Which to this day boggled Habib's mind. Anyway, Habib shared his hypothesis with his cabin mates and had a feeling that they would agree.
