Soon to meet @Erica Griffin that early morning

Cabin life. It was certainly a different concept for Simon Kincaid. Back at home in London it was just he and his Aunt Maggie and so he had a lot of time to himself and certainly plenty of room to space out in their townhouse for just two. Then, while he was at Hogwarts, he was part of the Hengist Home, the area of the Hufflepuff Boys' Dormitory where each had their own individual rooms. This was perfect for this dhampir because he didn't have the same sleep schedule everyone else did and another plus was that all these areas were windowless.
The Thestral Cabin however, as nice as it was, was quite crowded and it was quite bright. EVERYTHING inside shined of bright white and while it wasn't sunlight, it was lots of light all the same. It hit even early in the morning, just as the sun was beginning to rise. The rays would filter in through the windows, and then the light would just reflect off of all white surfaces - which was everywhere.
Often times he found himself the first to be showered and ready for the day from the Thestral Cabin and it gave him some opportunity to be on the grounds of the Campgrounds before all the other Summer-goers, but it also meant more time out in the sun. There had been a lot of sun already that particular Summer but Simon wouldn't worry about it at that moment.
One of the school elves were working on getting breakfast set up that particular morning and while she had her own kind of magic to work, there seemed to be a stack of muffins that had been neglected because some plates, that were soaring through the air, knocked into the muffin tower and caused it to come tumbling down.
With his fast reflexes, one of his more appreciated dhampir traits, Simon grabbed a nearby platter tray and used it along the edge of the table, so that the muffins just came crashing down over its surface instead of falling to the ground.
"I've got this," he told her, as he could see that she was quite busy. He then began to carefully arrange the bottle part of the tower, and then added more muffins on top, and more and more - hoping to get it back to the configuration it had previously been in.
The muffins did seem to be one of the hot items for morning breakfast, and he could tell this elf setting up took pride in her work and so he would ensure that his muffin tower was to her approval.
"Muffins," he said, pausing to take a look at the one in his hand. He moved it around to take a look at all sides. Muffins were too sweet (even if deemed savory) and he just wasn't a fan, " - they're really just breakfast cupcakes, aren't they?" he exclaimed to no one in particular - unless someone was nearby.

'6:36 am,' read Erica's alarm clock. Of course, she hadn't set the alarm on because she didn't want to wake the others that were in her Cabin, so now it was really just a regular clock.
Erica sat up in her bed and looked around and saw that not many people were up, those who were awake were just lying in bed. Erica glanced outside her window were she could see some of the Campgrounds. There she saw a house elf setting up breakfast and at a nearby table, she saw a young boy with dark hair sitting munching away on some delicious looking muffins.
"I wonder what he's doing up so early," thought Erica, eyeing the food. There were waffles, pancakes, muffins, cereal, eggs, bacon and a bunch of other fruit and beverages.
Slowly, Erica climbed out of bed and quickly got changed, then she hurried down to go and get some breakfast. She packed her plate with some waffles and drizzled them with honey and some strawberries. Next, Erica looked for a place to sit and she found herself walking towards the boy she had seeing earlier, through her window.
"Hey," she said, sitting opposite to him. "What were doing up so early?" Erica knew that this wasn't exactly a type of question you would ask when you first meet them but she didn't know what else to say. She had no idea how to talk to people, so she hoped that she wouldn't sound too rude.

Breakfast time with @Erica Griffin
He only thought it was Midge there, the kind older school elf so he jumped a little when he heard an unexpected voice - but luckily not enough to knock over the muffin tower. It stayed in place on the table. Simon put the last of the muffins on top and then turned and smiled over to the girl.
"Oh, I don't know. Sleeping trouble," he said. It was true, it was just - his usual. It made for many long nights especially without being able to play his instruments or do anything that might keep someone else awake. He had tried to even read some by candlelight some towards the middle of the night, but that was trickier than one would think without a hard surface to set up on.
His eyes looked over the girl a moment and he realized he hadn't placed her around. Accent indicated that she was probably not from one of the visiting schools so perhaps she was an incoming student? He wasn't sure, but introductions surely needed to be made.
"How about you? What brings you out so early? I'm Simon, by the way," he gave her a kind smile. "Simon Kincaid."
He watched as the school elf went about her last minute set up and gave him a smile as if thanking him for helping with the muffin tower and he nodded. That was one of the nice things about being in Hufflepuff - you got to know the kitchen staff at Hogwarts. For some, that meant extra snacks, but for a dhampir who didn't eat much like Simon, it just meant having more acquaintances.

Interacting with @Simon Kincaid
As Erica sat down opposite the boy, he turned and smiled at her.
"Oh, I don't know. Sleeping trouble," he said. Erica smiled, she could understand as she was a somewhat restless sleeper herself, it was probably cause she practically lives in the woods, well she used to before coming to Hogwarts. Erica could almost never get to sleep quickly with all the noises of the nocturnal animals in the woods.
"How about you? What brings you out so early? I'm Simon, by the way. Simon Kincaid," continued the boy (Simon) with a pleasant smile. No one had bothered to speak with her this much and she was pleased with how nice Simon was being.
"Hi Simon, I'm Erica, Erica Griffin," responded Erica, surprised with herself, she had never gotten up to this part before. "I just woke up and I saw all the food through my window and I just had to come down. Besides, I always wake up quite early.
And Erica was certainly happy that she had; the waffles were warm, crunchy and absolutely delicious and the slightly chilly English air felt nice against her. Even though she was only wearing black, denim shorts and a short, green blouse the 14 degree weather didn't seem to bother her in the slightest.
"So, what brings you out here?" she asked Simon eager to know about another magical person, there were never any of those in Calstock and she always wondered just how big the Wizarding World was.
Whatever you are, be a good one.

Breakfast conversation with @Erica Griffith
Simon had grabbed a water, but no food, as the two sat down and he glanced up to the sky to see the position of the sun. It was still early, which meant it was making it's climb up the horizon and still rather low. Good.
"Oh, I'm always awake," he said, smiling slighting to her. That was pretty much true, more true than anyone ever seemed to realize. He didn't need the amount of sleep that humans needed which was frequently every night. No, Simon ended up sleeping about every three nights, which meant he only slept about two or three nights during an entire week. Then, when he did get some sleep, it was only for around 4-6 hours at a time. Some would often wonder how he had learned to play the piano, guitar, trumpet, saxophone, and write music at the age of twelve. Some wondered how he knew as many classic books from famous authors as he had by now. It all went back to the fact that he had much more time than the average individual.
"It comes with a benefit though. First in the showers, first to breakfast. They don't have the bacon out yet though, so now I must wait. At least I've got good company." There were very few things that Simon tolerated eating. Meat was one of them and mostly stuck with bacon or steak. Everything else just tasted awful to him and he never would voluntarily eat something that was sugary sweet - with the exception lemon drops who balanced their sweetness with a splash of sour.
"So you'll be going into your first year?" he took a guess, just having a feeling since he didn't recall seeing her around the corridors or in classes the year before. "I'll be entering my second year here at Hogwarts. I was sorted into the house of Hufflepuff. Quite a perfect fit, I think. Hogwarts... It's a fascinating place. I didn't know of the magical world until I got here and it's far brilliant than anything my imagination could produce."

"Oh, I'm always awake," replied Simon. Erica couldn't imagine, how someone could be awake all the time, she felt that she always needed a good nights sleep or she would be grumpy when she woke up."It comes with a benefit though. First in the showers, first to breakfast. They don't have the bacon out yet though, so now I must wait. At least I've got good company."
"Well I suppose your right, that must definitely a bonus and I'm pretty sure the house elf put a plate of bacon before,"added Erica and she stood up to see the long table assorted with food. She then cocked her head to the right in confusion when she realised the bacon was gone. "Nevermind."
"So you'll be going into your first year?" questioned Simon."I'll be entering my second year here at Hogwarts. I was sorted into the house of Hufflepuff. Quite a perfect fit, I think. Hogwarts... It's a fascinating place. I didn't know of the magical world until I got here and it's far brilliant than anything my imagination could produce..
"Yeah it really is, I mean I've known about the wizarding world my whole life but I wasn't very involved in it. You see, I live in Calstock, a small village in Cornwall and it isn't very populated so there isn't really any magical community. My mum's a witch but my dad's a Muggle so mum uses magic a lot but it must be so much better when you get to do it for yourself. spoke Erica popping another strawberry in her mouth.
"And yeah, this is my first year," she continued. "I'm so excited to learn magic for the first time, my mum taught me how to say some spells but I haven't being able to actually use my wand and practice them. Wait, can I do some spells here, I mean we are at Hogwarts, or do I have to wait until I get sorted. I wonder what house I'll be in, I hope I'm in Ravenclaw, that's the house my mum was in but I honestly wouldn't mind any of them.
After that, Erica was going to say that she'd be very happy with being sorted into Hufflepuff too because then she'd have Simon as a friend there, but she stopped herself.
"Oh no, I'm doing it again," thought Erica to herself. "I've being rabbling on and on about stuff like an idiot and Simon probably thinks I'm a chatterbox now. "Oh my god Erica this is why you didn't make any friends in Calstock."
Although the children over there barely even listened to her speak.
"Sorry," apologized Erica. "I do that sometimes, when I get too invested in a conversation." she sighed, taking a sip from her glass of fresh, cold milk.

Bacon with @Erica Griffin
"Invest away," he encouraged her and truly meant it. "I like talking with you." He watched as Midge, the school's elf, set out a few more things. There were some doughnuts, some scrambled eggs....and there it was! The bacon. "One quick moment, love," he said to Erica and got up, taking a plate and placing some strips on it before returning quite quickly. He didn't mean to be rude but sometimes bacon called for such swift action.
"That's awesome you've got a bit of a head start," he said, speaking of how she already knew a few spells. "I'd wait to do the spells, just to be sure. No one wants detention even before the year begins," he smiled. "I know though, it's hard to wait. I spent so much time last year in the library learning about everything I could. You just want to jump in and immerse yourself, you know?" It was one thing to see it done and another to be a part of doing it.
"Ravenclaw is cool. I don't think there's a bad house, really." Even Slytherin. Some saw Slytherin as 'bad' but in Simon's mind they had good traits.
Erica thought she was big on conversation and rambled too much? Well, luckily she just met a boy that did much of the same. Not a terrible thing, after all, conversation was the basis on how you got to know someone. It was the foundation of a friendship.
"My mum was a Gryffindor," he said to her. "But I didn't grow up around any of it. It was me and her and my Aunt Maggie, her sister. My mum was a muggleborn so Aunt Maggie doesn't know any of it and my mum passed away when I was three. Before coming here, I just thought it was all something from a fantasy book. Dragons, unicorns, vampires, spells and potions..." It had been a crazy journey of discovery so far.
He took a bite of his bacon now that he wasn't talking for a moment and offered her one of the pieces from his plate.

Conversation with @Simon Kincaid
As Simon stood up to get some bacon, Erica glanced down and her plate and saw that there was nothing left and also stood up. She walked over to the table and took some bacon.
"Hmm,"she grinned munching on the juicy, warm bacon. "Your right, this is good,"said Erica to Simon. She then made herself a bowl of cereal and sat back down.
"Yeah I do but your right, I probably shouldn't risk the getting a detention or something," said Erica to Simon about how she probably shouldn't practice any spells right now. "Anyway, it's better to be safe than sorry."
"Ravenclaw is cool. I don't think there's a bad house, really." replied Simon.
" Yeah your right, like people say that Slytherin is full of bad witches and wizards but I don't think that everyone is bad. It's quite stereotypical really,"agreed Erica and she shoved another spoon of cereal in her mouth and tried to chew as quietly as possible. Although that didn't go to plan.
One of her cousins was actually a Slytherin, his name was Ace and he was one of the most nicest and goofiest people she knew so she hated how people would sometimes think that all Slytherins were just cruel. He was in his 3rd year this year, she wondered if she would see him around Hogwarts.
Erica told Simon a little bit about her family. "My mum was a Gryffindor," he replied."But I didn't grow up around any of it. It was me and her and my Aunt Maggie, her sister. My mum was a muggleborn so Aunt Maggie doesn't know any of it and my mum passed away when I was three."
"Oh my god! I'm so sorry,"interrupted Erica."I mean you probably don't remember her but still, that must be sad."
Simon kept talking and Erica also noticed saw that a lot more people were starting to come out now to the Campgrounds and the sun was getting much higher in the sky. Simon offered a piece of bacon; "Thanks!"exclaimed Erica and she popped it in her mouth. "Mhmmm, still delicious!"

Talking with @Erica Griffin
"No no, no need to apologize at all," he said quickly, hoping she didn't feel like she had brought up a bad conversation somehow. "I've heard a lot about her from my aunt, her sister. All good things. I might not remember her but I admire her and strive every day to make her proud." And in Simon's mind, being as religious as he was, his mum somehow could see that.
The sun shifted some more and it seemed now that the sun was starting to creep across the table, threatening to come closer and closer to where they sat. Simon sighed and ran his hand along the back of his head, wishing he had prepared for this more. He loved being there at Hogwarts' summer camp, but it certainly was paying a toll on him.
"So what are your plans after breakfast here?" he asked his new, hopeful friend. Maybe she was going to go to arts and crafts of something of the sorts - somewhere that could be under the shelter of an actual ceiling and he could get indoors.
Maybe he could offer to tag along to wherever she was going if indoors but unfortunately he sort of felt that if it was outdoors - he would have to say his goodbyes.

Breakfast Talk with @Simon Kincaid
Erica watched quietly as the sun began to rise up higher now, it was getting a bit warmer but it was still quite chilly. She looked over and saw Simon, shifting a bit on his chair and his face seemed to get paler, he a bit nervous.
"What's wrong with him?" thought Erica. "Are you okay?" she asked, worried that Simon might have food poisoning or something.
Now pretty much all of the teachers and students had come outside and they were all enjoying a nice big meal on the Campground; so many people, sharing a meal together and chattering amongst themselves. She wondered what this would be like in the Great Hall, she was excited to find out but she'd have to wait until next month.
"So what are your plans after breakfast here?" asked Simon. Erica hadn't really thought about that, she kind of expected there to be some adult telling her what was next.
"Well, I'm not that sure really, I was thinking we could either go to that forest behind us, it looks like it's dying to be explored, or is that not allowed. If it isn't, maybe we could go to the Great Lake or play some games inside. I don't really know, whatever you want, after all, you do know Hogwarts more than me."
She didn't know what she was going to do next but she hoped that she could do the same as Simon; he was her only friend here and besides, she liked his company.
