@Henry Knight
The sun was out for what seemed like the first time that week, and Miranda took advantage of it instantly to grab a book and head outside. She loved nothing better than a chance to get some fresh air, especially since the weather at Hogwarts in the fall was usually quite dreary, with only the occasional sunny day to put things back on track.
Still, it was better not to dwell on that, and instead focus on enjoying the nice days. Miranda had always been good at seeing the silver lining...well, most of the time. Sometimes she got so bogged down that it became next to impossible.
She let out a small sigh that was quickly replaced by a smile when she stepped out into the sunlight. It was hard to not be cheerful when everything was so warm and sunny out.
The courtyard was quite crowded compared to the last time she'd come out, with at least five others spread out doing their own things, although it made sense that she wasn't the only one that appreciated beautiful days. Luckily, there was so much space that it didn't seem like there were all that many people. If she didn't look around too much, the only hint she'd have that others were nearby would be the faint voices carried by the wind.
More cheerfully now, Miranda made her way out of the shadow of the school and out into the open, barely restraining the urge to flop over where she was and enjoy the sunlight, even if that ended up with her getting stepped on. But no, she felt like that wouldn't be a good idea. Instead, she made a beeline to one of the largest trees she could see, a towering oak that was second only in comparison to the Whomping Willow.
And of course, that wasn't the only reason she'd chosen it.
As Miranda reached the base of the trunk, she could clearly see the carved-out handholds that were practically invisible from farther out. Some long-ago student had placed them to make scaling the tree easier, and she was quite thankful. Climbing trees with a book in hand was hard at the best of times so she welcomed anything to make the task easier.
In no time at all, she'd made her way to a comfortable perch a little over halfway up, where the branches had begun the thin enough for the sunlight to get through, but not enough to send her crashing down to the ground below. It was there that she finally flipped open the book and started to read, her lips still curved in a small smile at some unknown amusement.

It was a surprisingly sunny day, which was hard to come by in the fall at Hogwarts and lucky for Henry he already finished all his classes for the day so he changed into comfortable clothes and grab the book he was reading before making a beeline to the grounds. When he reach the ground he felt the sun blaze down and the wind blow past him as the grounds weren't crowded but held a large group of people, as he made his way through he could hear some of their conversations drifting through the wind. Henry looked for a peaceful spot to read and found on in the great oak tree where he liked to sit but was a bit surprised to see another student already there, but no matter Henry still walked that way.
As he walked through the grounds and got closer to the large tree, he recognized the student to be Miranda and he smiled when he saw her blonde hair get blown in the wind. As he continue to think she really was quite stunning and beautiful not to mention also intelligent and brave, Henry was lucky she said yes to go on a date with him and hope any other meeting wouldn't be awkward as he continued to walk to the tree. As Henry was standing below it, he recognized the tree to be where they first met except they switch places so Henry got a idea that made him chuckle a bit, as he spoke " Hello, I see someone has taken to the oak," Henry started at her river like blue eyes as he continued " mind if I join you or would you rather be alone, miss?"

@Henry KnightMiranda looked up in surprise at the sound of the familiar voice. To her surprise, Henry stood near the base of the tree, looking up at her.
She hesitated for a moment before answering, quickly trying to think of the right things to say. It was rare that she found herself thinking like that, but not unheard of. Then she smiled, her decision made.“Why, of course you can join me,” Miranda replied, half-closing her book as she peered down, her smiled growing slightly. “It’s a beautiful day out, and there’s plenty of room.”
She wasn’t sure why she said that, but it sounded right. Although, the situation struck her as funny, since this was quite close to how they’d spoken the first time they’d met - even though she had been of the ground and Henry had been in the tree. Oh, the strange ways the world worked.
Miranda pulled out her bookmark and stuck it in between two pages, marking her spot just in case. It wasn’t that rare for her to talk to someone and accidentally forget she held a finger in a book, therefor pulling it out and losing her place. So. It was better to be prepared.

Once Henry saw Miranda reply to him and make room for him on the branch, he started to climb the tree which was easier then others since someone craved foot and hand holds in the tree some time ago. Has Henry climb upon the branch and sat next to Miranda, he noticed that she mark her page and closed her book which reminded himself that he had a book or two to read up there that sat in his messager type bag that was on his shoulder. As Henry looked out from the branch and letting his legs swing a bit, he smiled as he saw a fire owl flying alone to deliver a letter or the occasional dragonfly playing in the breeze.
As Henry saw Miranda's blonde hair get blown in the wind and her clear river blue eyes almost sparkle it made Henry remember the first time they met, how he acted differently around her. How instead of feeling awkward or anxious he was calm and relaxed, like if he knew her his whole life as they sat upon that branch in their first year and it seemed like time had stopped. Henry smiled as he looked forward again and spoke " it really is beautiful up here, almost makes you forget about all your troubles and worries waiting for you that's back on the ground."

@Henry KnightWhen Henry sat down next to her, Miranda didn't say a thing. Instead, she simply gazed out across the courtyard, smiling faintly as she studied the small statues that stood on pedestals in the center. At the same time, she caught herself watching him from the corner of her eye. Was it just her, or did he look calmer than when they'd last met? He seemed to have a confidence that hadn't been there before.
After a moment, she turned her eyes to the sky, following Henry’s gaze as he watched a lone owl fly toward the Owlery tower. Miranda noticed in surprise how the only birds ever seen around the school tended to be those carrying post. She supposed none of the other birds wanted to fly over the Forbidden Forest, seeing its vast expanse and sensing the possible danger contained within its deepest depths.
She broke out of her musings when Henry began to speak, and listened to his words with a small smile.
“I agree,” she replied. “There’s something freeing about having the wind blowing through your hair and nothing but air below your feet. I imagine it’s close to flying, in its own way.” Miranda paused, then glanced over at Henry again. “And it’s better with, um, interesting company.”

Henry heard Miranda speak and chuckled a bit at her awkward conversation usually he was the awkward and anxious one, as be closed his eyes and felt all of his anxiety and worry melt away for just a few minutes as he took a deep breath and smell everything around himself, Miranda was right it does sort of feel like your flying from up here, before Henry took a few more minutes in his peaceful and blissful world before reopening his eyes to the world that he didn't want to face right now.
Henry looked up at the sky as he saw the occasion owl fly over the canopies of the trees that sat in the forbidden forest or disappear into the owlery where their owner probably stood waiting for the letter that was attached to their leg. Henry smiled, something he rarely done anymore with everything going on and his anxiety going through the room, so much for getting better, but he was calm and at peace up on that tree with Miranda, with the right company this seems better than it really is.
Henry took another breath before turning to Miranda and speaking "the view and everything is definitely better with the right company," Henry laughed a bit and let his shoulder brush hers in a playful manner before continuing "so what brought you up here, Miranda?" Henry turned away from the view to look at Miranda's blue eyes, almost like the blue of a crystal clear blue stream if you stared long enough at them which Henry almost did.

@Henry KnightMiranda watched as Henry seemed to consider her previous words. He then glanced up at the sky, which was as clear and as wondrous as his eyes, now that she really looked. She wondered what he was thinking. Was he considering the similarity she'd implied, and watching the few owls that peppered the otherwise empty expanse? Now that she really thought about it, the similarities seemed few and far between. How exactly would sitting in a tree, only a couple dozen or so feet in the air, ever compare to drifting on the winds, unburdened by earthly cares, at least for the moment. In comparison, the tree option seemed pale and weak. But it was as close as they could get without resorting to brooms or Muggle means of transport.
"The view and everything is definitely better with the right company," Henry finally agreed with a laugh. He then brushed his shoulder against Miranda's, and she felt her face heat up inexplicably. Why couldn't she get a better control over her emotions before they embarrassed her like that?
"I mostly came up to relax," she replied in answer to his next question. "It's better out here than in the hustle and bustle of the school. And it's never a bad idea to catch up on some reading." She shifted her book slightly to show him the title, which read "An Advanced Guide To Defense Against The Dark Arts Classwork". The DADA class was probably the one she did best at - of the ones they took - so it was explainable that she spent plenty of time improving her skill and knowledge.

Henry smiled at her answer, of course she came up here to get away from the chaos and also to read. I never thought about how we have many similarities not that it matters since I like spending time with her, no matter the similarities. Maybe I should tell her why I'm here or maybe I should just lie, I said I was going to lie from the start to everyone. But its Miranda she's one of my closest friends who I may have feelings more. But I made a promise to keep my life and everything hidden from everyone and these no exemptions... ugh what should I do.
As Henry thought he turned anyway from Miranda's crystal clear river blue eyed and looked back at the courtyard where a few groups of students were laughing and chatting, they seemed to be enjoying each other's company and like their was nothing on any of their minds. Henry wished for that as he struggle with if he should tell Miranda the truth and revel his summer to her or keep it a secret and hide it away from her and everyone. Henry had a tendency to hide away his emotions and not let others know his secrets but that also tended to grow his anxiety that always loomed over his head so what should the young boy do.
Henry turned back to face Miranda in her crystal clear blue eyes as he smiled and spoke " that sounds nice and your book looks interesting I might have to borrow it from the library sometime." Henry paused to take a breather before continuing "yeah, I came up here to think also. It's nice to be away from the chaos when you have something on your mind, uh-" Henry felt his anxiety grow as he feared he said to much before he pulled a book out from his messager type bag, the book was on advanced charms, he showed it to Miranda before placing it back in his bag and continuing "and also to read also," Henry turned away and looked back at the sky, you bloody idiot.

@Henry Knight"Charms? That's pretty interesting. I'm afraid I'm not all that good at that class. I can only do most of the spells at subpar level." She sighed, although her smile returned moments later. No one could be excellent at everything, no matter how hard they tried. She just had to cut her losses and live with it.
Besides, she was a cut above the rest of her class in Defense Against The Dark Arts. It made sense that she also had her shortcomings in Charms and Flying classes. Hopefully, though, she'd be able to improve as time went on. That was what school was all about, wasn't it? And she had six more years to work on it, plus whatever time she could take after she graduated to learn even more. Just because her time at Hogwarts would end, didn't mean her learning had to as well. Quite the opposite, in fact.
The tree rustled above her from a gust of wind, causing several leaves to float down. Two landed in Miranda's hair, and she managed to catch a second in her hand. With a small laugh, she dropped the leaf in her hand and watched as if fell back to the ground.

Listening to Miranda talk of charms made him smile, he knee that she wasn't that good at charms since her talents laid in defense against the dark arts. She was the top of the class, with Henry following closely behind her in second which made it good that second year Slytherin's and Ravenclaw's had the class together. Still Henry was never one to even with having all outstandings in even class except flying of course, he seemed to always earn either a E or A in that class. Henry smiled and thought it never bother him especially now with a lot more on his mind, especially since he can't tell Miranda or anyone else since he is keeping it hidden away from everyone.
Henry looked back toward the sky and closed his eyes a bit, as he felt the breeze blow past them and hear Miranda laugh, she does have a soft yet fun laugh, Henry took a deep breath as he let the smells fill his nose. It was truly a beautiful day to be on that branch with truly beautiful company, Henry felt his neck glow red with sweat from embarrassment as he opened his eyes while still looking at the sky, he spoke "it doesn't matter if your good at charms since you are at the top of the class in defense against the dark arts," Henry smiled as he turned back to her and spoke again " but if you want I can tutor you in charms and you can return the favor. Since your one if my closest friends."
