Calm Before the Storm
Rose's time at Hogwarts so far had been pretty (almost) flawless. She had a dorm with good friends of hers, she had not tripped yet, and she was having a wonderful time in her classes. Nothing could go better. Her brother, Gabe, was here now, at Hogwarts, and he had gotten sorted into Ravenclaw.
Ravenclaw, seriously? Rose had expected him to be sorted into Gryffindor with her, but the sorting hat was strange like that. Gabe had always been at the bottom of his class in muggle school. He was the jokester, the prankster, he was popular and cool.
Ravenclaw?!
It did not make a shred of sense to her, but it didn't really matter.
Anyway, Rose was pushing her luck and going to the Quidditch Pitch for the first Gryffinfor Quidditch practice. She was not going to be practicing with them, of course, but she just wanted to watch. Rose carefully and silently made her way up the stairs and sat in the second row, leaning back to watch. Oh, how she wanted to be on those brooms right now, soaring around, catching the snitch over and over again, dodging bludgers. How she longed to be up there. Rose closed her eyes and suddenly she was whooshing by the stands on a broom, the fastest brrom there was, she tipped into a steep dive toward the snitch. There it was, glinting. A sparkle of doubt told her she was going to hit the ground, break every bone in her body. But she kept her speed, reaching her right hand out towards the snitch. Right before she hit the ground, she swerved out of the deep dive, satisfaction flooding her as she felt the tiny gold ball in her hand.
"Rose Moon has caught the snitch! That's only two minutes into the game! Gryffindor annihilates their enemies 150 to 0!"
Sliding her eyes open, the daydream shattered and Rose gently brought herself back to reality. These Quidditch players really were amazing.
Drawing in and letting out a steady breath, Rose sat back in her seat just as the bottom curve of the sun met the horizon. Every bone in her body relaxed and Rose let herself fade into relaxation, watching the game with a happy look in her bright emerald eyes. The way the sunset's pink and orange rays hit her eyes was brilliant.

Calm Before the Storm
The start of Henry's second year, has been a good on so far. He had friends who he could hang out with and laugh with and he was excelling in his classes as usual but there was still something on his mind. The summer holiday before his second year, the month before actually has been a rough one and Henry was in no place to tell anyone as he made his way up the stairs of the stands at the quidditch pitch. It was Gryffindor's first practice and usually Henry would be any where else right now since he never really care much for quidditch but with everything that happens month, he truly just wants to be alone and rather not face his friends yet since he was going to have to hide this. His family and his life from them and everyone else at Hogwarts, as the players flew by Henry held his message type bag tighter as he made his way to the 2nd row and since he was a bit too lost in thought, he didn't noticed the red haired girl that was already there.
As Henry continued to think of what he would do, his life seemed to be against him at the moment with no hope of getting better. As he thought of his only plan which was he was going to finally start rebelling against his father and do things that he wouldn't have done before because he felt like he have change since last year. That he was different and had more confidence now, as he smiled to himself he tripped over the red haired girls legs and fell awkwardly on the floor of the stands. Henry felt his face flush with red and he could feel is ever looming anxiety growing as he got up quickly and brushed himself off. He then turned to the red haired girl and spoke " sorry about that, I must not have been paying attention. Are you alright, mate?"

Calm Before the Storm
A boy walked by. He didn't seem to be paying attention, and he tripped over Rose legs, falling on his face. Rose immediately stood up, trying to help pick the guy up. He eventually got up on his own, and they started to talk at the same time- "Gosh, are you-" Rose paused with a little laugh. "You go first."
He asked her if she was okay and apologized, clearly feeling awkward and embarrassed. "Yeah, of course, I'm fine, I'm so sorry, I wasn't paying attention. Don't be sorry- stuff like this happens to me all the time, it's no problem. Are- are you okay?" 'You're the one who fell...' she had the urge to add that, but he was already embarrassed enough about that, she didn't need to rub it in.
Rose's voice was softer than most people's voice, but just by a shade. She also had a dominant American accent. This guy, however, had a strong British accent. He even called her "mate."
Rose's eyes were gentle, kind, and observant as she took him in. He looked familiar...
The guy kinda looked pale, a little sick, for some reason.
"Um, I'm Rose, a Gryffindor," she cocked her head after introducing herself. "I feel like I've seen you around. You're a second year, right?"

Calm Before the Storm
After hearing she was alright and asking him if he was, Henry ran a hand through his hair to try to ease his anxiety while he spoke "I'm alright, I guess." Henry then was about to leave as he felt his anxiety looming over his head before he head the red haired girl ask him "Um, I'm Rose, a Gryffindor. I feel like I've seen you around. You're a second year, right?" Henry smiled at her introduction and silently thanked himself as he gained some confidence over last year and the summer holiday because otherwise, Henry would have ran and come off as rude. As he stood there, giving rose a friendly smile and remembering that he had seen her in a few if his classes last year. Henry smile as he spoke softly " yes, I'm a second year. I'm Henry,
uh a slytherin," hopefully rose wasn't quick to judge and wasn't someone who was prejudiced against slytherin as he ran another hand through his hair and looked at the pitch as the gryffindor team practiced, he just noticed that most of his first year was spent cheering for ravenclaw and gryffindor than his own house team. Wow, he really didn't spend that much time among his own house since he hardly knew anyone else in slytherin besides Charles and would even cheer for other house teams.
Henry turned back to Rose and smiled, as he didn't feel awkward anymore but still had his ever looming anxiety over head something that did never go away,
he looked in her amber eyes as he spoke " we were in the same flying last year, right? I remember sort of, you were a brilliant flyer.
Uh are you on the team, mate?" Henry looked around and noticed besides from then their were only 1 or 2 others watching the practice and Henry guessed that they were also gryffindor's.

Calm Before the Storm
Rose seemed to interupt him leaving and she was about to say he could go, he didn't have to talk to her, when he replied.
A Slytherin. Henry, he said his name was, anxiously ran a hand through his hair. "Don't worry- I don't believe in house stereotypes," Rose reassured him. "I actually think-" Rose paused and stopped herself. "Nevermind, you don't want to know all my opinions about house stereotypes." Gosh, they just met, and here Rose was, about to preform her rehearsed essay about this kind of stuff. "Let's just say I know not all Slytherins are nasty, evil pureblood racists."
"Yeah, we were, actually," Rose answered, shifting her weight to one leg. Henry complimented her flying, and she smiled. "Thank you. I wasn't really watching you, but I'm sure you were too." Yeah, Henry kinda implied that he was watching her flying...
"I wish I was on the team," Rose replied, glancing at her feet. "I've always wanted to be... but I don't know if I'll ever be as good as these guys," Rose geustured to the Quidditch players, flashing Henry a sliver of her perfectionist nature, the demons of anxiety and imperfection that forever haunted her. "What about you?"

Calm Before the Storm
It was nice to hear that Rose didn't believe in house prejudiced and seemed like she was about to say more on it but decided not to, before commenting on their flying classes together last year and asking if Henry was on the team which is where Henry saw his mistake. I sounded like I was watching her, which I wasn't she was just in my class and would be always one of the ones most eager to fly unlike me which is probably why I get the feeling that they professor doesn't like me much. Since flying is definitely my least favorite class and I still rather have Care of magical creatures than flying. But does she think that I was watching her or even like her, bloody hell what did I do...ugh I have to fix it but how the bloody hell I'm I suppose to do that?
Henry smiled at her trying to ignore his ever looming anxiety like always since he never seemed to get rid of it as he spoke " that's good that you don't have any house prejudiced, I don't have any either," Henry paused quickly as he thought about how to fixed his mistake before adding " what meant by what I said, I wasn't watching you I just remember that you were one of the students who were always eager to fly." Henry then smiled at her as he begun to think with his ever looming anxiety, and also hang out with Eyre a lot which I tried our first lesson and failed since Eyre and I don't talk much, Henry then remember her question about the quidditch team and spoke " no, I'm not on the team and actually I'm not the biggest fan of flying or quidditch but I still cheer on my mate's house teams," that sounded good and not like Henry hated quidditch or anything as he continued " and if you want to then you should tryout. Because no who maybe you'll be just as good as these guys one day and even quidditch caption to."

Calm Before the Storm
Rose felt like Henry needed to relax. He kept, or at least it seemed this way, trying to do it right, do this whole social thing right. It frustrated Rose how some people seemed to thrive with people while people like her and Henry had to watch their words to make sure they weren't saying anything stupid.
Henry seemed to fix what he thought he had messed up. Rose gave him a pure smile of understanding, one that hinted she knew just a little more than he thought. "Oh, of course. I mean, it's always excited me, flying."
Rose's eyes turned fond, she smiled a small smile as Henry encouraged her to try out. He said that he could be as good as them and maybe even Quidditch captain.
Quidditch captain. Oh, how she would love to be Quidditch captain. She probably wouldn't be a very good Quidditch captain- she would have to make sappy speeches and strategies that depended on them winning. The stress could get to her and she might blame herself for not winning.
Might? No, definitely. The stress would definitely get to her. "Thank you, that's kind of you. What brings you here, by the way, if you you're not a big fan?"

Calm Before the Storm
Henry smiled at her hearing her response, he slowly ignored his anxiety a bit more but it was still looming over his head like always and there was nothing he could do about it unless he started to change that which probably won't happen yet or ever, maybe. Henry smiled at her as he spoke " I needed a quiet place to think and to also be alone from others for a bit," Henry then saw how that can be taken and quickly added " not that I mind talking to you, uh it's actually quite nice to be talking to someone else." Henry smiled once he was finished and he could feel in his mind that he was creating his usual lists of how he mess up and how Rose might be thinking or seeing him as he looked back at the gryffindor players flying past then with great skill.
Henry then turned back to Rose as he felt the breeze blow the trim of his greenish jacket around which made Henry think about zipping it up but he then decided against it since it was already big on him and will probably look bigger on him if its zipped up, it did belong to his brother and Henry hadn't really filled in yet like his brother have at his age. As Henry brushed the hair from his eyes, he smiled as be spoke again " and I'm guessing your here to watched the practice. Are any of your friends on the team?"

Calm Before the Storm
Henry said something about needing to be alone and Rose realized she might have snagged him in a conversation when he really just wanted to be introverted. Feeling embarrassed, she said, "Oh, I'm such a jerk, I'm so sorry, please don't feel like you need to stay talking to me, you can go if you want," her eyes were reassuring, trying to send the message, that really, she would be okay and he didn't have to stay here. As an introvert herself, Rose understood how someone could need a minute, maybe an hour, maybe a whole day, to themselves, and she didn't want to deny that to Henry, he was so sweet. If Rose didn't get the alone time she needed, she could be grumpy and snap at people, saying things she didn't mean. At parties, her voice would get significantly softer until she barely talked at all. By then, one of her family or close friends would warn her, tell her that maybe she should go, but she didn't want to leave... It was complicated.
"Yeah, I'm here to watch. None of my friends are currently on the team, though some of them wish as much as me. What about you?" Rose realized she had asked him yet another question, which would make him want to stay even more, even if he didn't want to.

Calm Before the Storm
Henry smiled a bit as he thought about how to answer her questions, he did want to be alone and thought maybe saying goodbye and leaving would be ideal since he wasn't in a particular good mood to chat but he also felt relaxed while chatting with Rose so maybe it would also do him some good to talk with someone else for a change instead of isolating himself and letting his anxiety and thoughts take over inside his mind. Henry ran a quick hand through his hand to brush a few particularly long ones away from his eyes, I really do need to cut it soon, as he continued a smile and spoke " uh, your not being a bugger. I actually do enjoy talking you, Rose." Henry smiled at her and just noticed that she had a distinct American accent, he wonder if she move here from american before starting at Hogwarts since most of her friends were from Scotland, England, Ireland,
among other places although Miranda was born in Canada but she didn't have a American accent like Rose did which made Henry curious and want to ask her about it as he spoke " yeah, a few of my mates want to try out for the team. A few of them already did actually, but not me I don't really fancy quidditch that much but I still cheer for my mate's teams." Henry looked at Rose a bit and hoped he wasn't about to ask about something personal as he spoke " I noticed you have a American accent, uh did you live there for a while, mate?" Henry then saw how personal that could be and how memories could come from that so he spoke quickly "blimey,
I'm sorry. I'm such a nutter aren't I, you don't need to answer if you don't want to, Rose."
