Summer Sleepover [Closed] - West London

Dear @Alina Rosier,
Thank you so much, I am looking forward to our sleepover.

I'll just come by Floo, if that's okay. I'll meet you there at 3:45, which gives us plenty of time to do stuff.

A couple of pools? PLURAL?!
YOU HAVE MORE THAN ONE POOL IN YOUR HOUSE?!

"Stop pacing, baby girl. 3:45 will come no faster if you pace by the fireplace," Rose's mom said gently from where she was working on her computer in the kitchen.
Rose went and sat down next to her, fidgeting with her nails. "I know that... But why can't I just be a couple minutes early? Alina won't care."
"It's rude to be early to something like this," she replied, glancing at her redhead daughter knowingly. "Did you say goodbye to your siblings?"
"Yeah, I did. Well, I tried. Jess was on FaceTime with one of her friends. I squeezed a hug out of her anyway."
Her mom reached over and gave her a hug that lasted just a little too long. "Have a wonderful time, Rose."
As they split, Rose looked up at the clock. 3:45.
"I will." Rose's mouth quirked into a smile and she darted to the fireplace, picked up her overnight bag, threw the Floor a powder in, and jumped in after it.
Rose emerged from Alina's fireplace coughing and brushing ash off of her outfit. She stepped out of the fireplace, holding her duffle bag with both hands in front of her.

The Rosiers had their own Floo Network entrance for their large estate, sort of like a lobby area designated just for that purpose with a few hearths in which one could make their entrance or exit. Having gotten Rose's letter, Alina knew that she'd be traveling by such manner and waited there in the lobby a few minutes before, just in case her friend arrived early.

When the flash of green lit up the room, she jumped up and smiled to see her red-headed Gryffindor friend. "Bienvenue chez moi, mon cher amie!" she smiled, speaking French for welcome to my home, my dear friend. A man appeared in the entrance as Alina was giving Rose a hug, happy to see her after a Summer away. "Miss Rose. Happy to meet your acquaintance. I'm James and I can take your things and do let me know if I can be of any service, big or small." Alina smiled wider to James. "James is wonderful. One of the best people that's ever to be." He was one of her father's assistants but helped out with much of the day to day workings of Updown Court, the Rosier's estate.

"I'm so excited to hear about your past month. How was the Summer program?" she asked as she led her friend into the Grand Foyer. It was a large room, very lavish, with two grand staircases that went off separate ways, to twist around and come together on the second floor with a terrace that overlooked the space. Mosaic tiles mimicked the rotunda above them, allowing some light to pass in, as did the arched window ways. There was seating there as this was often the room in which her father's clients waited for him. And while this room was massive, it was one of the smaller of the 103 rooms within the home.

She led her friend down a corridor that had marble flooring and columbs on each side that seemed to go on for nearly forever. They finally reached an expansive living room area and she ran and sat down on the sofa, bouncing a little as the furniture gave to her small weight. "Go on, tell!"

Rose was staring in awe at Alina's beautiful house when her obervation was shattered by fluent French that came from Alina. Or, at least, she thought it was Alina. It could have been her twin sister. Rose was pretty sure they were identical twins, but that's just what she heard.
Why, when she had friends and went to their house, they had a beautiful, gigantic, somewhere-between-a-castle-and-a-house house and know French?
Rose wondered if Alina secretly knew Parseltounge and didn't know it.
Maybe Rose should learn French.
"Alina! Hi, how are you? I didn't know you knew French!" Rose exclaimed on her way to hug Alina. It was a little awkward because Rose still had her duffle bag in the crook of her arm, but Rose doubted either girl cared.
Brushing her hair, which was down, behind her ear, she greeted James, which seemed to be a butler of some kind. "Hi, James, I'm Rose. I'm... happy to make your aquaintence, too," Rose replied awkwardly. At first, before Alina introduced him, Rose thought it might have been her dad, but she doubted she would call her dad by his first name or that he would be acting as a butler, from what Rose had heard about him.
Anyway, Rose was not stubborn, so she did give her bag to James, thanking him, but not before she slipped a lavender cube out of the side, holding it behind her back as they walked.
"Your house is beautiful..." Rose said as she was led through the gigantic castle that Alina called her house. "And enormous."
Alina prodded her to tell her about the summer program. Rose was careful not to say too much, because she didn't want to make Alina jealous or feeling left out."Oh, that! It was really fun. Did I tell you my cousin actually goes to Illvermorny? So I got to see him... Met some people... Saved someone's life... You know, normal summer things for me. And the Quidditch match was really fun, too."
I WOULD TELL YOU WHO WON IF I KNEW, SINCE THE MATCH TECHNICALLY ISN'T OVER YET
Anyway, Rose said, "I got this for you in Diagon Alley... You got me something and I would have felt bad if I didn't get you something." she held the box out to Alina, waiting for her to take it.
Iside the lavender box, was a snow globe of Hogwarts. The snow that floated around wasn't just snow, there were four or five tiny owls with letters in their beaks. It was silver and kinda heavy. It didn't play any music, but Rose thought it was soothing to look at.
"How was your summer?" Rose asked after they had moved on from the present. Lowering her voice, she continued, "How did your dad react to... the Hufflepuff situation? And your grades?" Alina had voiced her concerns about these two things before they had left Hogwarts, and it had haunted Rose all summer, wondering if Alina was going to be okay. And in an even softer sing-songy voice, she said, "What about Clifton? How are things progressing with him?"

The snow globe was absolutely stunning and it captured her attention for a moment as she shook it and watched it come to life. "It's even of my favorite place," she said with a smile, her eyes fixated on it. It was a wonderful present and she liked that her friend thought of her.

She finally glanced up to see her friend standing there and she smiled to her, hoping it hadn't been too long that she was mesmerized by it but really it had only been a moment. "Sorry for the French," she laughed, getting back on track. "We moved here ...four or five years ago from France. It's mainly what we speak around here. I guess I got myself into Summer mode."

She placed it down gently on the glass table and sat down on the ivory sofa. "I didn't know you had a cousin that went there," but she knew Rose was from The States. "That's awesome you got to see him. Did you meet anyone interesting? And...saving someone's life isn't usually normal summer things," she laughed again. "What happened?"

Rose had a lot to share it seemed and Alina wanted to hear all about it before she went into details about anything of her own.

From the entrance to the room came an older woman, bringing about a tray with her in which she set down on the table near the snow globe. "Tea and biscuits for you and your guest," she smiled to them kindly. "Thank you, Margie," Alina said as she quickly took one of the cookies. "This is my good friend from school, Rose. Rose, this is Margie. She practically runs this place." The woman smiled to her friend and headed back off toward the kitchen, leaving the girls to catch up.

"It's even of my favorite place."
Once, when Rose and Alina were hanging out, Alina asked her what her favorite thing was of the magical world. Rose had said the creatures, above that, probably kneazles, and Alina had given her an end-of-year kneazle present. Rose had it on her desk, reminding her of Alina every time she looked at it. Alina had said hers was Hogwarts, so Rose had searched until she found this snow globe.
Rose waited as Alina observed the snow globe. Rose could relate, she had looked at it for a while in her room- it was mesmerizing.
"You don't need to apologize for being amazing and knowing French," Rose added, her expression playful. "Wow, so you grew up in France? I only know little spots here and there of different languages, Spanish, some French, and a little bit of German, I was on an app called Duolingo for a while, but I don't think my limited vocabulary counts as knowing the language."
Rose sat down next to Alina daintily, being extra careful and aware of her surroundings. She was oftentimes very clumsy and she didn't want to ruin anything in Alina's beautiful house.
"Oh! About that," Rose laughed to herself, she couldn't help it. "I didn't really save his life, well, kinda. I don't know. So this guy was sunburnt... like, really badly, at the Welcome Barbecue. And he looked like a tomato person, he was having heatstroke or something, because he wasn't talking sense and couldn't really walk properly, it was horrible. I overpacked this time and happened to bring some burn cream, so I brought it to him. He was very thankful. Later I think he got into a fight and got punched or something? Anyway, he was limping all miserable-like back to his tent and so I helped him. I looked it up- you can't die from sunburn, but you can die from dehydration, so while I may not have saved his life, he kinda owes me."
That last part wasn't 100% true, Eyre had "saved" her from an angry water snake when she went to his house, and Rose claimed they were even.
Then a nice lady who was getting on in years came and gave them tea and biscuits.
Cookies. They were cookies. They were not biscuits.
"Thank you, Miss Margie," Rose thanked her.
As Rose picked up one of the cookies, biting into it, her face lit up. Forcing herself to wait until she swallowed the delicousness, she said, "These are really good!"

"Oh wow, that's crazy!" Alina said, glad that Rose had an eventful Summer because everyone should. "Well, surprisingly, my father took my grades and acceptance into Hufflepuff really well. Incredibly well. In fact, did you know the Sorting Hat wanted to place him into Hufflepuff? He convinced it to choose Slytherin and felt out of place his entire years at Hogwarts. We've talked a lot since I got back home and we've actually bonded. It's been so nice." She finally felt like she had a parent after all these years.

"And earlier in the Summer I spent a week at Clifton's. He lives in Rye which is along the coast, a beach town. So lots of ocean and sun. It was great. His parents are wonderful and he has the best little sister, Clover. Then, just a couple weeks ago he came for a week here. We went the Puddlemere United and Montrose Magpies game where my father bought Puddlemere United and we went to Puddlemere so Clifton could see another wizarding community besides Hogsmeade and Diagon Alley. We also went into Paris for some shopping and then my father had his charity gala. It was nice."

"I think the only bad part of my Summer was that Bella decided to transfer to Beauxbatons and she was accepted. She'll be starting there this year. I'm okay with it though. It's what she wants and she'll like it there," Alina smiled. "I already didn't see her much with her being in Slytherin and I in Hufflepuff. Anyway! What do you want to do first? I can show you to my room or if you'd rather be in your own guestroom I can take you there. We can then go swimming or go visit an art museum. There's a music festival at The Field of Remembrance tonight. Your choice."

Rose had prepared several points of encouragement, consolation and comfort to Alina if her dad got mad at her for being in Hufflepuff or her not-perfect grades.
Alina's answer to Rose's concerned question was not at all what she expected.
Rose opened her mouth in happy surprise. "What?! You bonded over it, that's amazing!" Rose was glad she didn't have to reassure her friend. There was always a possibility that she was lying to Rose so she wouldn't worry, but Rose doubted Alina would do that. "I'm so happy for you."
Alina mentioned spending two weeks with Clifton, and going shopping in the city of love. Rose suppressed a playful smirk at the thought. "That sounds fun... I've never been to Paris, was it as amazing as it's made out to be? You went to the city of love with him?" Looking at her under her lashes and lowering her voice just a little. "Is it official yet? You and him, I mean."
Alina had definitely hinted at feelings last time they talked, and Rose was not the one to refrain from friendly teasing, especially about crushes and/or boyfriend's.
Rose's eyes widened at Alina's comment about her twin sister going to Beauxbatons.
"She what?!" if any one of her siblings left for Beauxbatons, Rose would be a total mess. But this was her identical twin we were talking about.
TWIN.
They were born the same day, the must have done everything together.
She could only imagine how devastated Alina must be. "Gosh, that must be rough. I'm so sorry." Rose felt really bad for Alina.
But why?
Why did Bella want to leave?
"Why would she want to leave Hogwarts, and more importantly, you?"
What's so amazing about Beauxbatons?
"Still, France is still much farther away than the Hufflepuff common room."
Alina moved on from the subject.
"Oh, the music festival sounds really fun. We should do that. And, U would love to sleep in your room with you if yhats pkay... We're having a sleepover, after all. Oh, can I see your room first? And maybe get my wallet from my bag, there might be some souvenirs at the festival." Rose requested humbly.

"Yeah, but she wanted more from Hogwarts while I think it's amazing. I think Beauxbatons will be good for her." She hopped up from the sofa. "Come on, I'll show you to my room," she said and they headed back to the Grand Foyer and up the stairs. The next level was her father's so they went down a corridor and up some more stairs to the third level that she shared with Bella. Bella had one wing and Alina had the other.

Alina led her inside and Rose's bag was already there. "Here's my room," she said as she went and got her own bag. It was a smaller bag than the one she carried at Hogwarts but it had her money and other essentials, including lemon drops, of course!

"I don't know how much you know of muggle music but two of my neighbors will be performing at the festival. I don't know how big name they are but they're locals so we all love them around here. Plus they're the nicest guys. A lot of people seem to know them though." She brought the bag around her shoulder and waited while Rose collected her things. "Bella's already there with a couple friends so if we see her, I'll be sure to introduce you to her."

"And yeah, Clifton and I are official," she smiled widely. They had been for a little bit now and it was lovely. It wasn't progressing quickly in terms of maturity, but it was a strong relationship. A strong bond. He helped to complete her in more ways than she could understand.
