“What’s the worst that can happen?”
What’s the worst that can happen?
That is a question Kyle has asked himself more times than he can count. And if you ignore the three scars and the 72 hours he spent in holding that one time, nothing too bad has ever really come from the actions following those words. After all...who hasn’t caused a little bit of trouble here and there...right?
So Kyle found himself asking that question again as he stood in window looking outside, his wand(cherry wood and Phoenix feather) clutched tightly in his hand. He wanted to use it. What’s so wrong about that? He needed to practice right? What’s the worst that can happen
He nodded and quickly left his dorm, leaving behind his robe. He rolled up his sleeves and pulled off his tie, stuffing it into the breast pocket of his shirt.
It was a quick jog outside, stopping only touch a few things he hadn’t gotten around to making askew just yet, as he was eager to get to it. Once outside he grabbed a few rocks and sticks and made his way out to an open space on the grounds so he had something to work with. The sticks he would stab into the dirt and the rocks be piled up before taking a few steps back and rubbing his hands together.
Finally, he would draw his wand from his back pocket and and with a flick of his wrist...nothing happened.
”cmon...” he grumbles to himself as he tries over and over to do...anything really. Knock over the sticks, lift the rocks, maybe set something on fire who knows! Anything! He grew increasingly frustrated as he continued to try and get his want to do something, anything, intentionally

“What’s the worst that can happen?”
~ * ~Ruby was outside yet again – nothing new. She loved nature, and out here, she could still do some of the activities she enjoyed. She could read, write, draw, observe people, find new people to ally with, plot mischief and possibly even perform it out here. She could experiment, too, although she preferred doing that inside. She loved the library and all the knowledge she could gain from reading books, but she had started to read outside more and more frequently. The weather was significantly nicer than it had been in the winter, and there was no reason for her to remain in the library – except, perhaps, for the quiet, but there were places out here where she could still be in an area where there was a relative lack of talking.
She made trips to the library most days anyway, to return the books from the previous day or two and get out some new ones that she would undoubtedly whizz through. Ruby was a child who adored gaining new information, and books practically presented it to her. How could she refuse? One of her main goals was to learn as much as possible, after all. She always finished her homework early so that she didn't have to worry about that getting in the way of her own separate knowledge gaining.
Today, she had already read a book or two, done some drawings, written in her notebooks about the people she had observed, and had then wandered out here to continue people-watching and all that stuff. She had climbed a tree, going higher and higher until the branches would no longer be able to support her weight if she kept going, and then she had settled there for a while. By now, however, she had climbed back down to the lowest branch, still hidden from any onlookers by the leaves, but she could peer out at the students roaming the grounds and observe them, find out about them, see what they were doing and if anyone was being somewhat interesting.
A Gryffindor boy came outside purposefully and began gathering stones and sticks. He then jabbed the sticks into the dirt and made a pile out of the rocks. Curiously, Ruby tilted her head slightly to the side and leaned forwards on her branch, trying to get a better view. However, unfortunately for her, he had just moved ever so slightly out of sight. She climbed down reluctantly, motivated by her desire to see what he was doing. Now, she could see that he was pointing his wand at the pile and muttering to himself. What was he trying to do? He seemed to be getting increasingly frustrated.
She didn't want to be caught watching him, so she walked over to strike up a conversation instead. “Hello, are you alright? What're you trying to do?” Her tone was friendly and open, and far from accusatory. She had carefully, deliberately spoken in a way that wouldn't anger him further and would perhaps soothe him instead.~ * ~

“What’s the worst that can happen?”
Kyle had been trying to produce a blast or push or SOMEthing from his want but it wasnt exactly working. He figured there were spells that needed movements and incantations but he was sure there was also innate magic things that could just be done...maybe he wasn't doing it right. Hm. as he considered this he heard a voice from behind him and turned to see a slytherin girl there looking at him. She seemed like she was going out of her way to seem non-threatening. That triggered all kinds of alarms in head, but now was not the time to worry about that.
"I am trying to throw the rocks or set the sticks aflame or...anything really. Without using a specific spell" he shrugs and points his wand again and calls out "Verdimillious!" and green sparks like fireworks shoot out from his wand and cascade over the rocks and sticks, even knocking one over
"Cause reciting spells and doing something from a textbook isn't that hard, but being able to just...DO things you want using your own magical power. now THAT would be impressive. down right remarkable id go as far as to say. " he looks back towards the slytherin girl and cocks an eyebrow "Who are you anyway?"
