All aboard: our first journey to Hogwarts

Abbey had made it to the station only 5 minutes before the train was leaving. And had been running as fast as possible from the doors of the train station to she was standing with her family. Tired and relieved she screamed “love you” to her parents while she waved, standing in the stairs up into the train. Before walking up the stairs she turned to her siblings and gave them a goodbye smile. They smiled back and Abbey turned around and walked into the train. The train doors closed behind her as she stepped in and at the exact time the train whistle blew.

Abbey put down her heavy brow suitcase for a bit and took a few breaths in and out before she started walking down the aisle on the right. The train was moving and she struggled holding balance because of her heavy suitcase. She looked into the carriages full of people as she walked slowly down the aisle. She started to get worried as she came closer and closer to the end of the train and still couldn’t find any empty carriages. When she came to the end of the train she saw one carriage with a blond haired girl in it. She looked nice Abbey thought looking through the glass of the carriage. She opened the door and took a few steps into the carriage. “Can I sit here?” Abbey asked the girl. Abbey knew she didn’t really have a choice since this was the only carriage with room for one more, but she asked anyway.

Ruby glanced up as the door slid open, her heart leaping in her chest. The girl standing there looked out of breath, her cheeks flushed from what seemed like a last-minute dash to catch the train. She had a kind smile, and Ruby immediately felt a flicker of relief. Maybe this wouldn’t be so bad after all.

Can I sit here?

Of course, come in. Ruby scooted over to make more room. She offered a warm smile, hoping to ease any nerves the other girl might have. I’m Ruby, by the way. First year. What about you?

As Abbey maneuvered her suitcase into the compartment and settled into the seat opposite Ruby, Ruby couldn’t help but feel a twinge of curiosity about her new companion. There was something comforting in knowing she wasn’t the only one stepping into this world for the first time. The train had picked up speed now, the rhythmic clatter of the wheels against the tracks providing a steady backdrop to their conversation.

Ruby glanced out the window for a moment, watching the countryside blur past. I was starting to think I’d be riding alone. I’ve never been to Hogwarts before. Everything feels so... new.

She turned her attention back to Abbey, hoping to learn more about her. Did you have a hard time getting here? It looked like you just made it in time.
Ruby began to relax. The initial nerves she’d felt were slowly being replaced by excitement. This was the beginning of a new adventure.

I wonder what it will be like. Meeting new friends, learning magic... it’s all so incredible to think about. Have you heard any stories about Hogwarts? My father used to tell me all kinds of things, but I’m sure there’s so much more to discover.

“Of course come in” the girl answered Abbey with a friendly smile. Before Abbey made her way into the carriage and sat down the girl had already introduced herself. Her name was Ruby and she was a first year just like Abbey. Ruby was a nice name Abbey thought as she pushed her heavy old suitcase into the carriage. It was a big struggle and Abbey was already tired from all the running. Feeling the need to not wait to long before answering Abbey answered Ruby while pushing her suitcase. “I’m Abbey” she said and paused before she continued. “I’m also a first year.” she continued and looked at Ruby with a smile.

After finally getting the suitcase into the carriage Abbey sat down on the opposite side from the girl. She looked out the window at the beautiful view and the two girls sat there in silence for a few minutes before Ruby started talking to Abbey. “I was starting to think I’d be riding alone. I’ve never been to Hogwarts before. Everything feels so… new.” Ruby said looking out the window. Abbey didn’t know what to say and didn’t think of something before Ruby turned to her and asked another question. “Did you have a hard time getting here? It looked like you just made it in time.” Ruby asked. Abbey had in fact a very hard time getting here and she barely mad it in time. “Yeah, it was really stressful getting here. I barely made it in time.” Abbey answered. “I made a deal with my parents. I was allowed to take the train from Liverpool to London alone as long as I met them at the platform. I forgot the name of the station and lost the map my dad drew of the station, so it has been a really chaotic day this far. Luckily this third year girl came up to me and showed me where the station where.” Abbey explained feeling like she had just told a bit to much uninteresting information to Ruby. She had a whole story to tell, but tried to make it as short as possible. Hopefully what Abbey had just said made sense.

“I wonder what it will be like. Meeting new friends, learning magic... it’s all so incredible to think about. Have you heard any stories about Hogwarts? My father used to tell me all kinds of things, but I’m sure there’s so much more to discover.” Ruby asked. Abbey agreed, it was incredible thinking about what memories they would make at Hogwarts. Abbey was really excited to get to know people at Hogwarts and to learn spells and potions. “My family tries to be as similar to muggle family’s as possible so me and my siblings don’t get to hear a lot about the Wizarding world before we attempt Hogwarts. I have two older siblings that are both at Hogwarts. They have told me that it’s a lot nicer than muggle school and that I should be excited, but that’s really all they have told me. I also remember that my dad told me what the Hufflepuff common room looks like, because he was a Hufflepuff when he attended Hogwarts.” Abbey answered. She really wish she knew more about Hogwarts, but not knowing anything made it a lot more exciting. “What have your dad told you about Hogwarts?” Abbey asked in curiosity.

As Prat waited at the platform for his train to arrive,he couldn't beat the feeling of uncertainty within him, leaving the comforts of his home along with his friends, all of it left him wondering how he'll socialize and will he even be able to make friends.

Shaking his head Prat mutters to himself,"We'll cross that bridge when we get to it." before he goes back to reading one of his favourite Spider-man comics,waiting for the train to arrive.
Before his train arrived Prat felt an anxious need to check out something nearby,feeling it call to him,he stood up and slowly walked towards it, completely ignoring the horn of his ride as it approached the Train Station.

Prat followed the thing only to later realise it was merely a black cat,It was then he notied that the train had arrived on the platform,Prat cursed to himself as he thought how most of the seats would now be occupied and he specifically wished to secure one by the window for himself.

He came back to his train, much to his prediction most compartment's were already occupied by fellow students.As Prat searched for a seat he walked upto a carriage with a few seats left,currently occupied by two girls who seemed to be his age, Nonetheless Prat ignored hat carriage and walked ahead trying to find another seat for himself.

Prat came back to the carriage he refused before when he ultimately found no other vacant seat, opening the door he peeked his head inside looking at the two girls as he spoke, "Is there an empty seat here, can i take the one by the window!?". He said it with a grin on his face as he knew this was the only seat vacant anywhere close and they couldn't say no to him on their first encounter.

The excitement and nerves from the first minutes were slowly fading away, and Ruby realised how much she said in the last couple of minutes. She fell silent for a moment. I hope I didn´t scare her off. She seems so nice and she is so friendly to me. She took a deep breath and looked back at Abbey.

My dad told lots of stories from the time he was at Hogwarts. He was a Hufflepuff too. That´s why I hope I can get into Hufflepuff, just like him. He had one close friend, and they were a bit of troublemakers. He got in quite some detentions back in the day. They didn´t harm anyone or something like that, they just liked a good laugh. My favourit story is about the time they were bored during dinner time, and my dad enchanted a roast chicken so it danced all over the table and sang the school song. How he got to do that without a head on the bird I still don´t know. Ruby couldn´t hold back and started laughing out loud. She heard that story so many times, and it still cracked her up.

When she finally stopped laughing, she remembered something Abbey said.

Suddenly their compartment door sled open. He peeked his head inside with a wide smile.

Is there an empty seat here, can i take the one by the window!?

Ruby was startled for a moment, but couldn´t resist the boy´s smile and smiled back at him.

Off course, come and join us! We were having a nice chat over here, always room for one more.

Ruby moved away from the window, so the boy could take her seat by the window. For her it didn´t mind which seat she had.

”You said yoer family tries to live as similar to muggles as possible. How come they do that? It seems difficult. Don´t get me wrong, I don´t have anything against muggles, my mum is one also.” Ruby asked Abbey. Abbey could tell she was curious and perhaps a little confused. Abbey thought about the question for a moment. Exactly when she was about to answer the question the compartment door sled open. A boy with wavy black hair peeked his head into the compartment. “Is there an empty seat here, can i take the one by the window!?” he asked. Abbey smiled at the boy. She knew Ruby was about to answer his question and let her answer. “Off course, come and join us! We were having a nice chat over here, always room for one more.” Abbey Watched as Ruby moved over. “Here you go, a nice preheated seat.” Ruby said.

After the boy had settled down in his seat and his trunk was in the compartment the three of them sat there in silence for a while. Abbey looked at the door of the compartment. She was day dreaming and sitting there in silence wasn’t too bad because she was really tired. Abbey “woke up” from her day dream as a girl suddenly walked by. She thought she recognised the girl from somewhere and watched her as she walked past their compartment. She came from the left compartment to the one Abbey was sitting in, and was walking the other way.

Abbey stood up and grabbed her suitcase’s handle. She looked down at the boy and Ruby. She didn’t want to be rude and leave, but she wanted to talk to this girl she might know who are. “The girl that just walked past… I think I know her.” Abbey Said in a slow way trying not to say anything that could make them think she wanted to leave because of them. It was nothing wrong about them, she just wanted to get to know this girl she had just recognised a little better. She thought the girl was the girl that had helped her to the station. “I would like to sit with her on the train for a little.” Abbey hoped they would understand. “I want to thank her and maybe get to know her better. She helped me get to the station and I don’t think I would have been here on this train right now if it wasn’t for her.” Abbey stopped to think about what more to say. She came to the conclusion that she has explained enough and opened the compartment door. She then smiled at the two and left. She looked for the girl and saw her walking down the aisle. Abbey looked away to close the compartment door behind her and as she looked up again, the girl was gone.

Abbey waved as she walked out of sight. She walked down the aisle the girl was walking in before she had disappeared. She couldn’t see the girl, but still walked looking for her. Abbey looked for her for a while, looking into compartments. She soon realised she wasn’t going to find the girl again. Abbey stood in the aisle of the train with her suitcase. The train was moving and she had to hold onto a handle on the wall so she wouldn’t loose balance. She felt too embarrassed to go back into the compartment that Ruby and the boy was sitting in so she decided to walk further down the aisle where the only empty seats were.
