Disarming Procrastination
Prat had decided even before his arrival to Hogwarts to not fall behind but rather stay ahead of the curve, the determination that Prat had on his way to Hogwarts slowly faded with time as days turned to weeks and weeks turned to Months, in attempt to settle in his new life in Hogwarts, Prat abandoned his resolution unknowingly, which was to keep working hard and studying to gain the validation he craved so much from his father as a Successful Auror in future.
Prat realized the lapse in his judgement sooner but major procrastination on his part kept him from doing anything more than daily class work and a few other tasks. Watching as his friends progressed ahead not only in academics but hobbies of their choice Prat decided to make a difference in his daily life and again determined himself to start working harder than before. "I shouldn't be wasting my days in Hogwarts like this, with all my classwork done perhaps i should learn one of the charms and practice my mastery over it."
With a determined stance Prat walked towards the school library, as he entered he went straight to books that would have Charms specially for Defense Against Dark Arts, finally picking a book Prat turned page after page for something he could master before Graduation, which much to his dismay was arriving sooner that he expected. As he kept turning pages Prat's fingers landed on The Disarming Charm. "This seems like it'd certainly be a helpful charm during duels and might even aid me if i chance upon unforeseen dangers when i choose to escape around and explore."
Prat took that book to the practice facility and spent his whole day repeating the charm again and again until he could cast it with no hiccups, The charm initially seemed like a challenge as Prat couldn't get the Incantation right (ex-PEL-lee-aaaur-muss) much to his fault as he read it wrong and didn't think to confirm it.
This continued for a while until Prat got frustrated and was nearly about to give up on it, shouting "God i hate this, i hate this stupid little spell that's not working, what am i even doing wrong??" He exclaimed before calming down and reading the book once again only to find out he read the incantation wrong,Prat sighed to himself, "I hate myself" Prat thinks to himself as he tries doing the charm again.
(ex-PEL-lee-ar-muss) he says while moving his wand in the described motion,"Please work this time!"Prat prays in his mind. Lo and Behold this time it works as intended and knocks the Wand right out of the Training Dummy's hand, Prat tries this for the whole evening, increasing his experience with the charm and gaining familiarity until he could feel close to mastery with it.
Later that night Prat goes to bed with a happy mood as he could finally feel his time management going back on the right track.

Spell: Snake Summon Spell
Incantation: Serpensortia (ser-pen-SOR-she-uh)
Wand Movement:
One day roaming around the library Prat and his friend Aston stumbled upon a spell for the third years. Usually Pratwouldn't have even spared a second glance at a spell they knew they were going to learn nonetheless in Year Three. However this spell had something different associated with it, The Snake summon spell (Serpensortia) almost felt like it called to Prat. A spell about summoning snakes should definitely be something that Prat had in his arsenal were the immediate thoughts that came into his mind. Letting Aston know of his departure Prat took the book to one of the desks and studied the spell. Memorizing the Spell, it's incantation, wand movements as well as the pros and cons. It even said having multiple targets might confuse the snake and end up attacking a different person altogether.
Prat made sure to remember all of these details for when he would decide to take on the task of using the spell on a test dummy himself. Making a mental note of all the information about the spell and then revising them all as he left the library for Duelling grounds, Prat felt he was ready mind and body to learn this spell.
Taking out his wand Prat decided to practice the wand movement without the incantation as he moved his wand in a straight line like manner. Prat felt the movement was easy enough to get a hang of. He then proceeded to get himself a training dummy and use the wand movement infront of it as he did the move without the incantation.
Finally satisfied with his now somewhat seemingly mastery over the wand movement he was now ready to use it with the incantation. Doing the straight line wand movement once again Prat spoke the incantation along with it this time SerpenSortia (ser-pen-SOR-shi-aa). Only nothing happened after this attempt. Prat tried it again but to no avail. The disappointment was starting to slowly show on his face but instead of giving up he instead found the note he had written the incantation on and realised his mistake as instead of the (shi-aa) he was using he was supposed to say (she-uh). All that minor words made such a difference to his spell. Prat sighed to himself before discarding his robes to the side and folding his sleeves up, attempting a last try before he'd go back to the library and maybe ask a senior to guide him. This time again he did the same wand movement however with the incantation SerpenSortia (ser-pen-SOR-she-uh), his wand gave a white light as it summoned a snake which darted right towards the training dummy to attack it.
Prat was ecstatic at this success of his as he finally added another new spell to his arsenal, only his smile turned into a frown as he realised he did not remember the need to learn the very spell required to vanish these snakes he had conjured. Without delay he instead ran to find a senior who'd take care of the snakes for him.

Spell: Snake Vanishing Spell
Incantation: Vipera Evanesca (vee-PARE-uh eh-vuh-NES-kuh)
Wand Movement:
In his quest to find yet another spell for himself before his year Prat decided he was gonna fix his previous mistake of not knowing how to vanquish the snakes he had learned to conjure previously. The previous incident made him run away to find a senior after he summoned a snake on a test dummy. Prat knew this was very irresponsible of him. Sure it's a school of magic and to most people it would seem harmless but he wasn't looking to test the water by thinking it would be someone else's problem. Added that with fear of losing House Points for an act like that also made him adamant to learn the Snake Vanishing Spell (Vipera Evanesca).
It was a spell that was used to vanish snakes, a counter spell to snake summons spell as well as the fire to snake spell. Prat once again got his books together at the library and started sorting through them to research this spell. Sure conjuring spells was cool, but making them vanish seemed like an even cooler concept. Prat spent nearly an hour in the library with laser focus as he read through the papers and got done with the theory for the spell.
Prat walked towards the practice grounds once again this time ready to learn another spell. He had already previously mastered the Snake Summon Spell and used a senior to Take care of the snakes that would come up. Brandishing his wand outwards Prat moved it to the left proceeding with bringing it down and then swirling it into a circle before forming a semi-circle below the big line he moved the wand in initially with the incantation Vipera Evanesca (vee-PARE-uh eh-vuh-NES-kuh). Prat mastered this wand movement and incantation for a while before heading back to the school interiors.
Hoping to find the senior who had assisted him Previously Prat walked around the Gryffindor dorm for a while before making his way to the the library once again. It was there that he stumbled into Noah, the Year five lion. He was the one who previously assisted Prat and now once again Prat was going to request his services for his own gain. Upon letting him know how Prat needed him to summon snakes so Prat could vanish them with his newfound skill, Noah agreed to help Prat. Soon after which they made their way over to the Training grounds once again where Noah would summon snakes and Prat would vanish them.
Soon Prat was satisfied with the results he was getting and after a while both of them said farewell to each other and went onto their other tasks of the day. [/size]

Spell: Full Body-Bind Curse
Incantation: Petrificus Totalus (pe-TRI-fi-cus to-TAH-lus)
Wand Movement:
Prat sat there in the audience as a wild duel raged on in the duelling club. One senior against another shooting off various spells from their arsenal as they battled to see who'd come out on top.The fight went on for a while but Prat couldn't get the body bind curse one of them used in the beginning out of his mind. The spell seemed like it would come in handy, plus if used would give Prat time to escape or run away. Prat thought back to the time he was in a duel and how much a spell where he could bind his opponent would come in handy.
Watching the game with him was his best friend Kenzie, before the duel could even finish Prat dragged her along to help him research about the spell. He now knew he wanted it for himself. Upon going through the spell Prat found out it was an Year Three spell and was fairly easy to learn. It was found in a book called Curses and Counter Curses, written by a certain Vindictus Viridan. Weird name
Prat thought to himself. However the name was of no consequence for him, it was only the spell he was after.
Prat memorized the basic stuff needed to pull off the spell, like it's incantation Petrificus Totalus (pe-TRI-fi-cus to-TAH-lus) and the wand movement which similar to a horizontal pirate's hook followed by a small line downwards towards the floor. The book said that the wand would give either white, purple yellow or no color at all on a successful casting. Prat thinking he had done enough research now went to his dorm as the day was nearing it's end. Excited for the next day where he would be able to use this spell on a training dummy and gain another spell for his potential debut to duelling, he was sure it wasn't going to happen soon but knew it would come eventually.
Going over to the training grounds early in the day before he had any classes, Prat was eager to try out this spell and it was evident by his attire. Unkempt hair and and now distressed shirt, ignoring both he took out his wand while chanting Petrificus Totalus (pe-TRI-fi-cus to-TAH-lus) while doing the necessary wand movements and focusing on just the training dummy that was moving around. As soon as Prat cast the spell it's tires stopped on their track and it fell down, this signaled a perfect casting for Prat as he jumped up in joy before running off back to his dorm in order to fix his attire before class.

Spell: Teeth Growing hex
Incantation: Densaugeo (den-SAU-jee-oh)
Wand Movement:
With the speed Prat had been learning spells upon beginning of the new session had started. He felt a tad bit burnt out and decided to take it easy for a few days. For a few days it went on as planned where he kicked back and relaxed only until one of the days he heard someone in common rooms talking about Densaugeo. Prat hadn't heard of this before, was it a delicacy maybe a snack or perhaps an animal of sorts. Much to his dismay it wasn't food, it turned about to be a hex to grow tooth of the target to an unnatural length, similar to that of a squirrel. This was quite intriguing to him, not that he felt any need to use it on a fellow student or on an innocent passerby. It would still be a worthy spell to have in his arsenal regardless. Moreover it would help him not focus on the things in his life or think thoughts he deemed too hard or problematic.
Choosing to instead focus on the spell and avoid all other thoughts, Prat set out to learn the incantation as well as the wand movement for the very spell he had decided on. One thought mostly coming to his mind was the very rough shape of the wand movement, it just seemed like a short downward line then a diagonal to the left while going down and then going straight to bottom. He wondered in the back of his mind if the movement was chosen by a child of all but five years in age. At the very least it was easier to learn and shadow in comparison to the weirdly fancy movements for some other spells. Prat had always wondered who found out what wand movement is the right one for a spell or who designated which one is right.
Alas he was not about to get the answers to his queries yet. Once he was sure he had learnt the wand movement, he moved onto incantation. The etymology did make sense to him with "dens" meaning tooth and "augeo" being the translation for grow or increase. Prat nodded with understanding. This was one of the more easier latin translations as far as spells go. Repeating the word Densaugeo (den-SAU-jee-oh) again and again for a while putting great emphasis to SAU before he finally felt he had accomplished enough to try it on himself.
Stupid idea but he adamant about it, quickly casting the spell on himself he had a good laugh for a while as those teeth grew, knowing if they grew too big he might not be able to reverse them or fail the right incantation. Prat quickly reversed it with finite incantatem and moved on to wait for dinner time as the day progressed.

Spell: Tongue-Tying Spell
Incantation: Mimblewimble [MIM-bull-wim-bull]
Wand Movement:
[Backdating to 07th August 2024][Prat's first year at hogwarts]
Prat sat in his room, nightime with only a candle illuminating his face, eyes cast down to the floor. As if searching for answers on the floors for the humiliation he had just suffered a while ago. The visuals remained clear in his head, a reminder of how each spell that came his way only served to further reduce his chances of winning. His raised wand, nothing more than a futile attempt at resistance when he could barely word a sentence.
Heat thudding against his ribcage, the tempo of a mournful dirge played in his chest. The lofty ambitions due to which he'd even propped himself in the duelling club now trembled within the confines of his own mind. Their fragility laid bare by the cold, harsh winds of reality.
Alyssea hadn't merely bested him, it was as if his very overconfidence was dismantled, piece by piece until he was left a hollow shell, questioning every move he had ever made. Each spell and attempt at dodging he had carried out was in question, in jeopardy as he introspected his own actions and decision making.
Her victory was swift, decisive and utterly devastating for him. He stared into his mirror, the abyss of his shattered pride, wondering how he managed to lose so spectacularly in his first duel.
However, sitting around and doing nothing would make no changes to his current predicament, he knew that, yet it took him some time to find his resolve. Prat pushed himself up.
He'd understood what went wrong for him in this duel, to learn from his fail and grow stronger. That tongue-tying spell was an important spell. One that marked itself as the pivotal moment in their duel which ultimately decided it's fate.
He believed he had the talent, the potential to be better than this but it was clear he needed more than that to be atleast somewhat competent at this. The large collection of books in the library called Prat towards, this time however he beelined towards the spells for Y2 students as he flipped through the book before finding what he was looking for.
There it was, Tongue-Tying Spell, exactly what he was looking for. "Mimblewimble [MIM-bull-wim-bull]" Prat muttered as he moved his fingers across the written incantation. He would master this spell that had silenced him, use it on others, silence them and come out to be a better duelist than his current self.
He approached the duelling club in a hurry with his wand already out, clutched between his hands as he stared at one of the training dummies. He whispered the incantation that had haunted him through most of his duel. To his astonishment, The spell shot out with a flick of his wrist, giving out blue colored from his wand. He didn't need to see it's effect to judge how perfectly he had managed to cast this spell. A proud achievement for others, but a common tuesday for him ofcourse.
"Her victory was a fluke" he murmured to himself, voice steady and confident as he began to walk away with swagger in his step. Turning away from the dummy and going back to his daily life.
