Margaret closed the door behind her, feeling the weight of her bags pressing onto her shoulders, her knuckles white from gripping onto her suitcase. Once again, she was amidst the crowd, a strange robed crowd. The soft thud of her heels onto the carpet, the cacophonous chatter, the opening and closing of doors created a singular symphony, a melody of eagerness tainted with apprehension. She had never been one to fear new beginnings. For her it was all an opportunity, a door to knowledge, the endless possibilities of futures paving the way, new chapters of her book.

Walking further away, she glanced inside each compartment, perhaps there would be an empty one. She searched in vain until she got towards the end of the corridor. There it was, clean and empty, a handprint free window. Margaret liked crowds, but this wasn't really the ideal one. The students were chaotically running in all directions, some bumping into each other. She didn't feel part of it as she didn't share their underlying yearning for new connections.

Before her arms gave out, Margaret slipped her suitcase and bags in the overhead space and dropped her handbag onto the seat next to her. At last, peace and quiet. With a sigh of relief she sat onto the crimson velvet cushions, feeling her body sink deeper and deeper. Out of habit she grabbed her headphones and placed them onto her ears. But, much to her dismay, her iPod wouldn't work and the only sound that could be heard was a loud and irritating static. Annoyed, she put her headphones on her neck and reached for her diary. She hadn't been dedicated to it enough, and this seemed like a perfect opportunity to catch up. Out of a nice wooden box lined in satin she grabbed her favorite ball-pen, the one that made her handwriting impeccable.

No one apart from her seemed to be disturbed by the lack of music, she had seen many students curled up with a book, as if all of this was completely familiar to them. Sure, she liked reading, but they seemed to love it.

Before her pen could scribble onto the paper, out of the corner of her eye she noticed a bag. It wasn't her bag. Of course, this empty compartment seemed too good to be true...

Marcel has never been much of a sentimental person, but then again he's been with his mother for the majority of his life which explains the pit in his stomach, his musings were interrupted by his loud but well-meaning brother and sister, Belle and Joshua. "Shouldn't you be looking for a compartment Marcy?" The two say in unison. A contagious amused smile appeared on both of their faces effectively making his own smile appear, all teeth and full of that same amusement.

"I was getting to finding one, I was just admiring the lighting." That part was obviously not true and the mischievous twins knew that, "Sure you were. Just find a compartment Marcel." This time just Belle speaks but Joshua seems to agree with her statement. With one last smile, they left to go find their friends.

Marcel suppressed a fond smile fighting to appear on his face as he decided to find a compartment, he nearly had to push past what he assumes to be reuniting friends, a brief look of envy appeared on his face, he hopes to have the same heartfelt reunion in his second year. He unconsciously opens the door to a random compartment and enters, the compartment is pretty spacious and only has one person in it.

The person, a girl, seems to be occupied with writing in some kind of book, she has dark brown hair and doesn't seem like the type to jump at the chance to conversate with others her age, unfortunately for her Marcel is.

He chooses to sit across from her and ungracefully slumped in his seat, his satchel makes a loud nose as it hits the seat which makes him jump slightly before he remembered the cookies his mother gave him are what mostly like produced the loud sound. After a few seconds of hearing his own heartbeat he finally decided to attempt small talk though he's never been good at it, "Hey, I'm Marcel."

He resists the urge to cringe at how overly friendly he sounds, "It's...rather sunny today." That was the equivalent of pointing out the fact that she's a girl, what's next, asking her if she breathes oxygen. "Want a cookie?" He gestures to his bag in a ta-da kind of way, maybe that'd lead to an actual conversation instead of more horrible attempts at small talk, who would deny the chance to eat cookies? Everyone likes cookies.

Elisa had gone to the bathroom, leaving her bag in the empty compartment. When she returned, however, it was no longer empty. She figured she should've gone to the bathroom after everybody was seated, so that she wouldn't have to find herself with a few strangers.

Elisa was very bad at holding a conversation, let alone starting one. That was why she had wanted to find an empty compartment all to herself. But now, due to her mistake, she had to face the students sitting with her.

Taking a deep breath, Elisa knocked and slid the compartment door open. Taking a rapid glance at the occupants, she recognised a girl with brunette hair she might've seen earlier. Across from the girl, sat a boy, who was gesturing to his bag. Apparently, they were in a conversation already.

"Uh, sorry to disturb, but... I- My bag's in here... so..." She didn't finish her sentence. She didn't know what to say. So she carefully stepped towards the seat near the window, avoiding the boy's outstretched legs, where her bag was deposited. "I- I hope I'm not disturbing you..." Elisa's cheeks turned pink.

She looked out of the window, just in time to see the train leaving the station.

This is it! We're heading to Hogwarts!

Everything happened rather rapidly. One moment Margaret was sat with her thoughts, the next a boy, about her age was in the seat next to her. Fizzling energy that smelled of strawberries, like a contained chaos seemed to fill the air. He was tan, which was quite unusual for someone sitting in a train from England to Scotland. Margaret thought about the sun on her skin and how she missed the beach. Before she could get lost any longer in her thoughts, his voiced pierced the silence between them.

'Hey, I'm Marcel.' he said.

'I'm Margaret.' she added, not at all used to this type of interaction.

He then commented on the weather, how sunny it was. She chuckled, recognizing the attempt to make this situation between two strangers less uncomfortable. 'Sunny indeed' she answered. Perhaps this outgoing friendliness was something she could get used to, but truthfully she never saw herself partaking in such easy-going dialogs. When the boy then offered a cookie, she couldn't refuse. Taking a bite made her felt slightly more at ease, the familiar tender consistency, the taste of chocolate and butter. She smiled and thanked Marcel. Looking around, she noticed he had come in with his bags, and looking back, the mysterious luggage left alone here seemed to belong to a girl. Great. They were expecting more company. Just as this thought had popped into her brain, the door opened once again.

This time it was a girl, brown hair, and just like Marcel, she seemed bigger than her. Are wizards generally taller, or was this all just a coincidence? Probably a coincidence. The look on her face translated somewhat of a frustration, or so she thought. She could understand her, how disappointing would it be to walk back to your empty compartment only to realize you were about to be forced into socialization. And now, there she was apologizing for interrupting them.

Margaret wasn't one to let her empathy get the best of her, but she couldn't help but feel guilty for this girl's need to apologize.

'Please, don't apologize. I think we both came in here thinking it was empty.' she said, trying to make her feel more at ease. 'I'm Margaret, this is Marcel. You are?'

As she spoke, she packed her headphones back into her bag, as well as her diary and pen. What a shame. 'Are yours working? Mine keep making a strange noise'.

Marcel could barely suppress the grin threatening to appear on his face as Margaret took one of the cookies and thanked him, "You can get another if you'd like, I have a lot to spare." Marcel was about to say something else but whatever he was going to say escaped him, it's on the tip of his tongue but everytime he tried to say it, he ended up looking like he was doing an impression of a gaping fish.

Just as it came back to him, the compartment door opened to reveal a girl with long brown hair who for some reason felt the need to apologize for disturbing them despite not needing to.

He offered the newcomer a smile and enthusiastically nodded when Margaret said they both came into the compartment under the impression that no one else had yet been in it.

"Sorry for hijacking your compartment, would a cookie possibly earn your forgiveness? They were made by the best baker in the world, my mum." He gently takes the container full of cookies and dramatically feigns crowd cheering, dramatics are his forte and it seems to be the moment for them.

He looks toward Margaret and notices that she seems to be talking about her headphones, "I don't think electronics go well with magic." He made sure to emphasize the word think because he isn't very sure, he never paid much attention im some of his lessons. He contemplated what to say to the girls, they'd be journeying all the way to Scotland after all, maybe what house they would like to be in.

Marcel is more inclined to Gryffindor but he wouldn't mind mind any other house, all of the houses have their good traits and he'd be honored to be in any of them. "What house do you want to be in? I'm interested in Gryffindor but anything can happen," he shrugs his shoulders with a smile.

Elisa couldn't suppress a shy grin on her the corners of her mouth when Marcel said all that about the cookies and compartment hijacking... The boy was funny enough. As for the cookies- they did seem very delicious, but Elisa was too polite to want some.

"I'm alright, thanks. Maybe it would be more polite if I said- "I mean, they look amazing, but- I- I've just eaten lunch...

"Oh and- for the uh- 'compartment hijacking' part- it's completely fine, I guess it's good to get to know a few people before school actually starts."

She felt her cheeks go red. Maybe the students already had friends- hey, maybe they were siblings, or- cousins, or neighbours!

She looked out of the window again. They were already leaving the city, heading to the fields of crops and animals. On the way to Hogwarts! she thought again.

The Marcel commented about the Houses of Hogwarts. Elisa's mother, who, by the way, shared the same name as the girl sitting next to her, had been in Hufflepuff, while her father had been in Ravenclaw. I'd be fine in both, Elisa thought.

She liked Ravenclaw- she herself was quite clever, according to her parents and her tutor. On the other hand, Hufflepuff would be really nice as well- being in the same house as her mother would be the first step towards becoming a famous Healer, like her mom.

She didn't really care, as long as- she didn't want to be considered as prejudiced, but Elisa didn't really want to end up in Slytherin, the home of all Dark Wizards. But she didn't expect to be in Slytherin. What good would she be in a circle of villains?

All she contented herself to say though, was "I don't know, I think all would be fine..."

OOC Notes: Sorry you had to wait so long...

The boy had been talking about houses. Margaret couldn't wait to be sorted, the adrenaline rush of discovering what team you belonged to, based on who you were? It seemed wonderful. She didn't know an awful lot about each of the houses.

'I'm hoping for Ravenclaw or Slytherin. Gryffindor and Hufflepuff seem too - too people-ish to me, too social. From what I've heard they seem to be all about connecting to other students.' she said.

Margaret wasn't a great fan of talking to strangers, she'd rather be alone. She didn't like people who were too eager to make conversation, or worst, being nosy. On the bright side, blue and green were some of her favorite colors. She'd look awful in yellow, she was certain of that. And red would wash her out, she didn't want the undertones in her hair to match her robes. No, green would be the best. Blue, why not. She was fully aware that in the end, it didn't really matter, it was some getting used to.

'I hope at least one of you ends up in the same house as me, it'll be a face in the crowd I'll know.' she said.

The train was now taking some speed, soon they'd see some breathtaking views, from what she heard her mother say.

'Where are you guys from? I'm from central London, I've never travelled that much across the U.K. And did you go to special magic schools before Hogwarts?' she asked, curious to know all about Wizarding families.

Well, if Margaret was in Ravenclaw, we could be together, but I certainly don't want to be in Slytherin, even if there's someone I know... "Well- it would be nice to have a friend in the same house..." Elisa replied with barely a murmur. She was not very comfortable speaking around strangers.

"I'm from Ruchill, a small town in Scotland." Elisa said. She loved her little home town, it was close to nature, and not too loud and noisy, unlike, for example, central London. "I've traveled around the UK a bit, I went to France once, but that's about it."

"My parents are rather busy, as mom's a Healer and dad works at the Ministry." She thought to add.

Margaret had asked one last question. And the answer to that one was- "No, I had a tutor come to teach me and my brother every day. And mom and dad taught us, too. I guess there aren't that many magical elementary schools...

Elisa found she was panting a little. Maybe it was because she was nervous. She was really nervous, to be truthful. And speaking a lot wasn't helping, quite the contrary.

The young girl shifted uncomfortably in her seat. She looked out of the window again. They were zooming past the countryside now.

OOC Notes: Marcel may have left us, since his last post was from the 29th of May... If he doesn't come back we can pretend he went to another compartment with his brother and sister or something.

Since both of the girls were left alone in the compartment now, the awkwardness that came with talking to a group had finally settled down.

'Living in Scotland sounds nice, I've been there a few times. It's truly beautiful.' she smiled, remembering the few spontaneous trips her parents had organized there, the train rides and most of all, the snacks they used to pack. 'My dad would always like to bring an assortment of different flavored crisps when we'd get on the train to Edinburgh. Mom wasn't fond of that, but it was the only time we'd get to eat some. Truthfully, being on a train right now is making me crave some.'

Margaret had been once to France too, but she the faint memories she had of it made it hard to tell if they weren't just dreams after all.

'I live in central London now, we have quite a nice view from our apartment.' she added.

Although she hadn't been on many train rides in her short lifetime, they felt familiar enough for her to feel comfortable in this strange new environment. She couldn't imagine what it would be like, growing up know that Hogwarts existed, let alone being used to magic being used around you. She had yet to see someone use a wand in her vicinity to finally believe it was all real.

'This is so strange, discovering there's a whole world that was completely unknown to us. It feels like a movie, people telling you that wands actually existed. What next, you're gonna tell me you fly around with a broom? This all feels like a dream, like I'm going to wake up in my boring bedroom, go to my boring school, in my Mum's boring car.' she sighed as she looked out the window. It all felt too real, she could see the countryside on the other side of the glass, and she knew she couldn't create a new face in her mind, let alone have conversations with an imaginary friend.

Just as she leaned back, she noticed a metallic-colored object peeking out of the bag. Curiously reaching her hand to find out more, she pulled out a cream and dill flavored packet of crisps, one of her favorites. Her eyes gleamed in excitement as her mouth began to water. In a few seconds, she had opened it up and held it towards the girl 'These are delicious, you should try'.

Good, good, Margaret was talkative. Sometimes, people apologised for rambling on and on about things, but Elisa never cared in the slightest. She was a good listener, but a horrible talker. When others talked, she'd nod and smile and make signs of agreement. It might sound boring for others, but for the quiet little girl she was, Elisa was satisfied. On the other hand, when it came to her turn to talk, though, she'd struggle with words and often answer in a simple sentence, or, when it was possible, a yes or no. It wasn't because she wanted to be cool or was very cold for some reason- no, not at all. She would love to appear to be a warm and kind, extroverted girl, but she was not. She was just awful at talking, that was it. Also, her voice almost always sounded strange when she was talking to strangers.

So while the girl next to her talked, Elisa carefully paid attention and grinned once or twice. So Margaret was a Muggle-born. There were rather a high number of Muggle-borns these days, and Elisa wasn't sure how the International Statue of Secrecy was not broken already. All of the Muggle-borns' parents must know about magic, and then their relatives and friends maybe. That adds up to a lot of people.

When Margaret proposed a bag of crisps to Elisa, though, she got uneasy again. Another thing she hated was when other people proposed favours to her, and food was one of them. Of course, who wouldn't happily accept a few crisps, but Elisa could never bring herself to accept. Not that she thought the crisps were poisonous, but out of a simple matter of politeness.

"N-no thanks, I'm fine..." Elisa muttered.
