Tara had just gotten out of class on this March afternoon. It wasn't very hot and yet Tara wasn't cold. She has missed her family a little since she started school. It had now been more than six months since she arrived here. She immediately loved this place full of surprises and secrets... Tara was still dressed in her uniform because she liked it and it was warm in these still cold months. She had her hair tied in a braid. She still wore a scarf from her house: Hufflepuff. Young Johnson still looked forward to summer so she could laugh and have fun in the park after school. Happy to be there, even in this weather... in England, she decided to go for a little walk outside. As she walked out, she saw a young Hufflepuff girl sitting with a pretty and cute ginger cat. Interested, she approached. Still shy, Tara didn't really know what to say. She took a little step forward and said to the young girl: - Um... hi, I'm Tara, I wanted to know, what's your cat's name? And can I pet him? Waiting for his response Tara looked at this very cute cat with a sweet face.

Sage watched the gray sky overhead calmly while brushing the warm fur on Casey's head. Her cat made a confused meowing noise and tilted his head to look behind his owner.

"What is it, Casey?" Sage asked her cat, looking over her shoulder. Seeing a girl standing near the Hufflepuff and her cat, Sage kissed the top of Casey's head and said, "You're alright, buddy."

She looked at the girl and waved politely. "Hi," she said. "You can sit and join us if you'd like." She motioned to the blanket she had brought outside.

Sage couldn't remember if she had met this girl before, but she wasn't bothered by that. "I'm Sage." The girl introduced herself as Tara and asked about her cat. "Nice to meet you, Tara. This little troublemaker," she paused to smirk at her silly cat, "is my cat Casey. Casey, say hello."

"Meow," chirped Casey, following his owner's directions.

Sage unfolded a bit of the blanket and moved over, leaving just enough space for Tara to sit if she wanted. "Please, join us. Casey needs to make a few friends besides me!" she joked.

Sage's prosthetic was now uncovered by the blanket, which she was a bit nervous about. Sure, she was confident with it, but Tara could have found it alarming for all she knew. But she knew that she didn't need anyone else's approval to be herself. Ignoring her thoughts, Sage decided to say, "How are you feeling about Hogwarts so far, Tara?"

The Hufflepuff girl introduced herself as Sage. She seemed kind and caring. She was holding her cat in her arms and a blanket was covering them both. The girl was pretty and she had beautiful brown hair. The girl, or should I say Sage, asked me if I wanted to join her. Then she talks to her cat and I found it funny! So I answered him: - uh yes, I would, thanks! Then she asked her cat named Casey to say “hello.” Her cat “that little troublemaker” as she calls him, (Casey) Meow! - he seems to be listening to you! I said. Sage unfolded the blanket for me to sit next to her and saw that she had a prosthetic leg. I didn't want to make a mistake by talking about it and so I decided to avoid the subject, at least for now. I'll just have to ask him later. Then afterwards, she asked me how things were going at Hogwarts and I told her: - Yes, I feel very good there! I love being here! Every corner of the castle is full of secrets and mysteries... don't you think? There's something mysterious about this castle, isn't there? But yes, I feel very good there and you?

Sage smiled as Tara took a seat next to her and her cat. She made a remark about Casey, to which Sage smiled and replied, "Yeah, he's a good boy. He can take a while to fully trust people, but he got used to me fast." She paused and scratched his chin. "You can pet him if you want! Just hold your hand out like this," she demonstrated holding her hand out below Casey's nose, "and he'll smell you. From there, you can go about petting him! What do you think, Casey? Do you want to be friends with Tara?"

Casey buried his face in the pocket of Sage's sweatshirt. "Are you cold?" Sage laughed. "Oh, buddy. Don't worry we can go back to the common room in a bit." She turned to Tara. "Are you in Hufflepuff? I can't remember seeing you anywhere..."

Sage listened to Tara talk about how much she enjoyed the castle and its history of secrets. She agreed with the other girl about the mysterious aura of the castle, but it was exciting, at least it was to Sage. You never knew when something magical might happen in the castle.

"Oh, I love it here! I'm sort of disappointed the year will be over in a few months and then we'll have to leave..." Sage paused yet again and picked at a loose string on the blanket she shared with Tara. "But then I'll get to go home and see my family! I've missed them, especially Kora, my little sister. What about you? Have you missed your family? What's your family life like?"

Tara was very happy with her meeting with the pretty Hufflepuff. She found her very nice and she had a cat!!! Tara loved her cat! And cats in general! When the young Hufflepuff revealed her legs, Tara felt that the young girl was uncomfortable. But as the latter did not want to cause discomfort in the two young girls, young Johnson preferred to avoid the subject. Then the young girl, or rather Sage, asked her if she was a poofuffle. "You are? Me too! That's exciting!" Sage replied, smiling wide. "What do you think of it? It was kind of a surprise for me considering the houses my mum and step-mum were in, but I like it all the same. Did you have other family at Hogwarts? Were they in Hufflepuff?"

Sage looked up from the string she fiddled with to hear Tara answer her question about family. "It's good that you owl them often. I should probably send an owl home soon. I haven't properly contacted them in a few weeks..." Sage's voice trailed off. "I miss them a lot; my family life is a bit... different then some other families, but I love them all the same. I've got my little sister Kora back home in Kent. We both stay with Cassie, my step-mum and Kora's birth mother. My dad..." Sage stopped herself.

She couldn't talk about her dad. He hadn't spoken to her in forever anyway. It wasn't like he even tried to stay in contact. If he didn't act like her dad, Sage wouldn't refer to him as her dad.

"Anyway, it's just Kora, Cassie, and me. They're amazing. I'm excited to see them once school's out for the summer. Are you excited for summer?"

Casey made a soft noise in her lap and Sage gently lifted him up. "Oh, buddy. Are you getting cold?" Sage cradled him in her arms. "Casey and I might need to head inside soon," Sage explained, making no efforts to leave, however.

"Yeah, that'd be great! Perhaps sometime we can meet up in the Common Room for a chat?" Sage offered. "I'm a half-blood, so my dad didn't go to Hogwarts. My mum was a Gryffindor, my step-mum was a Slytherin. My little sister Kora hasn't started Hogwarts yet, but she'll start school here when I'm in my fourth year. If I had to guess, I'd say she'd be a Slytherin like her mum, or maybe a Ravenclaw."

Tara told her she was an only child. Sage could resonate a bit with that. Kora was technically only her step-sister, which meant that Sage had no siblings related by blood. She had lived without Kora in her life for... a while. But then she appeared and somehow, Sage felt better. But, still, Sage was technically an only child.

And then, since Sage couldn't keep her thoughts about her family to herself, Tara asked her why her family was different. Sage's jaw clenched, her hands tightening into fists for a second. Casey meowed up at her, as if reminding her to calm down.

"It's not a big deal. My mum died when I was two, then my dad got remarried. My dad's a Muggle, and he doesn't want to understand a witch's way of life. My step-mum, Kora, and I all left around the time I was seven because...," Sage's voice trailed off. It was hard talking about leaving home and moving to Kent. "Never mind. We live in Kent, England now. Do you live close to Kent? Maybe sometime over the summer holiday we could meet up!"

Tara announced that she, too, was looking forward to summer. Sage smiled and listened to Tara talk about how she was disappointed that she wouldn't see her friends as much over the summer.

"Same here. At least there's summer camp where you can see them!"

A burst of wind swept through the air, reminding Sage that she should probably get going. Casey yowled at her, begging her to take him inside to the warmth of the castle.

"Hey, Tara, I'm going to head inside now. It's too cold and windy for me and Casey." She stood up. "Are you heading inside? Why don't you keep the blanket for a bit and return it to me in the Common Room."

Sage bounced from one foot to the other, Casey curling up in her arms. "Bye, Tara! It was nice meeting you!"
