Kyle stepped out the front doors and took a big breath of the outside and let out a contended sigh. HE spent way too long cooped up in the stuffy library, having to sit still and keep his voice low. It was torture to be sure. Now that he was outside he could stretch his legs and be loud again! He grabbed his right leg and pulled it behind him some to limber up as his legs felt stiff then he took off, Running off towards the lake. He even went so far as you let out a loud cheer since he was outside and he could be as loud as he wanted.

As he neared the lake his foot catches a slight divot in the ground his foot kicked out from under him and he biffed, hitting the ground hard and he couldn't help but laughing at himself as he lay on the cool grass for a moment and rolled over onto his back and looked up at the sky, watching a few clouds drift by, he couldn't wait until he was able to take to the broom and fly. Flight was the ultimate freedom and its something he yearned for greatly. Ah well, the day would come. For now he needed to keep entertained in whatever other ways he could.

He pushes himself to his feet and dosn't bother dusting himself off as he now has some dirt and grass stains on his pants and his white shirt. It was probably for the best he didn't have his robes on, those would be a real pain to get clean...probably. he had never washed robes before. He slipped his hands into his pockets and walked forward towards the shore of the great lake and looked out onto the water, then he realized. Kay had said something about joining him after the library didn't she? Did he say he was going to the lake? Hm...he was probably going to hear about it one way or the other he was sure. He just wears his usual smirk as he takes in the scenery

Jay had never been outside of Hogwarts this often, normally whenever they had free time they would stay in the castle, in the dorm, abandoned toilets, and empty classrooms, away from people. Nowadays Jay put on their muddy red converse and carried a fanged frisbee, one chewed up wooden pencil, and their wand of course! Their wand had some cracks from I-don’t-know-what, Jay remembered how it was springy and meant for accomplished  duelists. And that- gave them hope.

Just a few minutes later of running around they saw someone who looked very familiar. After a little bit of staring and straining their eyes they finally figured out whom it was. He was a first year Griffindor just like them! I need more friends... They thought, and that very true indeed. So far in the whole year they only had one friend. Bloody hell... perhaps I should introduce myself.

Jay Victoria walked up to the other student with a shy smile, “Um... Hey. I’m Jay Victoria, I like to visit the lake so um.. would you mind if I sit here too?” Jay said with a little bit of difficulty, if this was in the beginning  of the year they would of probably either ran away or yelled ‘Go Away!’.

The sun was shining on the lake, creating a reflective blue sheet. The grass was like shreds of lime. The sky was a crisp, clear blue with small puffy clouds scattering the surface.

And Kaylee hated it.

She was having a good day, and it was going to be even better. But the sky was too pretty. Kaylee kicked a rock at a tree and heard the satisfying crunch as a piece of bark went flying in the opposite direction. Kaylee breathed in the air and coughed as she inhaled to quickly. She laughed lightly and ran down the hill to the lake. She saw Kyle sitting there, and when another person strode up, Kaylee hesitated. She didn’t really feel like talking to anyone else at the time. But Kaylee still walked down to the edge, feeling her boots sink slightly in the mud. When Kaylee reached hearing distance, she saw the person introduce themselves.
Kaylee coughed, “Afternoon, Rook. I see you managed to attract a bystander, hm?”.
She smiled gently.
The.. boy.. girl? Kaylee slightly furrowed her eyebrows. But she covered it up by scratching her temple. She couldn’t show vulnerability around a stranger because she had no idea what she was like.
I shan’t say it’s a pleasure, for I’ve not been introduced to you, but my name’s Kaylee. Or as this idiot calls me ‘Kay’”, Kaylee glanced at Kyle.

Kyle looked over towards the new person that had walked up to they, they looked slightly familiar and he recognized their house colors as a fellow Gryffindor. Though he was faced with a great challenge...one he had yet to have to face here. Jay, was already short for something. It had to be. He couldn't shorten it further, but he had to give her his own nickname or else he probably wouldn't remember their name, and that's always embarrassing. Well...his nickname was derived from his last name. That could work here. He then realized he had been staring at the other student for some time. this is awkward.

He blinks and cocks an eyebrow. he opens his mouth to speak when he hears someone cough and he glances over to see Kay. Bout time she showed up, he smiled without really noticing it but made an effort to return to his relaxed neutral expression. "Nice ta met ya J.V. dont pay any mind to the bird brain here. She thinks being uppity is a substitution for a personality. but she has her moments" he offers Kay a playful wink "Names Kyle, but people tend to call me Rook, as Kay here just demonstrated"

A girl came by to join them, yay I’ve been saved from awkwardness, she looked nice and acted nice. But you can never judge a person by their cover...

J.V... A nickname? Jay never had a nickname, they were either called by their full name, first name, or just their last name, but never a nickname. And they would refer to other people by their last name, perhaps they should try using a nickname on someone else, like Kyle! He mentioned hoe people call him by ‘Rook’. (At this time they weren’t even thinking about how their actual name is Jane and not Jay) They then realized something... Both of the other students were also first year a Griffindor and Ravenclaw, it must sound quite idiotic that Jane Victoria here has been minding their own business for almost the whole first school year that they can’t even remember the names of people in their house and year! Kaylee and Rook seemed to be pretty good friends.
“Do you guys like catching frogs?” Jay blurted out, catching frogs was fun. Especially during or after a rainy day. Hopefully these people didn’t think Jay was weird for having a liking to catching frogs. They were cute little green things, and green was their favorite colour. (Duhh)

Kaylee barely managed to contain a snicker. Catching frogs? What a child’s activity. Then again, she wasn’t even supposed to be this mature for an 11 year old, so Kaylee internally groaned. It wasn’t that they were gross or anything, frogs just weren’t entertaining.
It hasn’t been a common pastime of mine, but it sounds worthwhile, so why not.”, she already regretted her decision.
Kaylee pulled off her boots and socks and dug her feet into the mud and took off her robe/tie. She tucked her wand under her robe safely, and waited for the others. She spotted a frog crouching besides a rock. Kaylee looked at the two and sighed. Watching it’s motions and copying those similar of a cat, she slowly shuffled beside it and raised her hand. One behind, one in front. The frog jumped, but Kaylee was prepared. Her front hand, she pushed the frog back down and cupped it in her hands. She picked it up by its back, so it didn’t hurt but it just couldn’t move. She coughed at the two, grabbing their attention. She had used patience and intelligence to capture the frog, when a lot of people chased after it, running like a jackrabbit being chased by a fox, and scrambling to try to catch it. She observed the two for a while, before returning to catch more.

Catching frogs? He had to admit, that was something he never really did before. Him and his friends were usually rough housing, fighting with sticks, breaking things and going places they shouldn't go. But catching frogs? this was new. And as he thought about it, it could be fun. There's messing in the muck, there's chasing something that doesn't want to be caught. Who knows. There was one thing he did know, Kay was going to want nothing to do with this plan and he couldn't help but grin as he looks towards her and waits for her inevitable freak out.

Instead, he saw her taking off her boots and socks and she waded into a muddy spot and went for a frog, and even more impressive yet actually managed to catch one. Holding it up and coughing at the him and J.V. he blinked at her obviously impressed. Man she was cool...er...for an annoying ravenclaw chick anyway...quit gawking you idiot.

Kyle looks over towards J.V. and shrugs "Well it looks likes like she has one up on us already, maybe we should try and catch up?" he chuckles and kicks off his shoes and socks and rolls up his pant legs and moves towards Kay, pushing her hand to try and make the frog touch her face. he chuckles and begins his own hunt for a frog

Oh. Jay thought, they didn’t think that the girl would like to catch frogs since she seemed too clean to be the type, and here she was; the first one to start catching frogs. Wow, she had caught one and now Kyle seemed eager to catch some. Jay smiled at this, yay friends...

Jay Victoria figured it would be a good idea to take off their shoes and socks, from the time s before it has never crossed their mind to take them off. Some of their hair went onto their face as they crouched down and tried to be as quiet as possible to catch one of the two frogs hanging out in-front of them. Jay lashed out and squeezed the frog a little too hard which then caused it to slip up and land on their hair. This made them squeak in surprise, bloody hell! You’re making a fool of yourself! Jay mentally scolded themself as they shaked their head so that the little green thing could jump away. Gladly, it did satisfyingly, hearing that little flop as it jumped into the water sure is satisfying. Their cheeks went a bit red in embarrassment...

Normally, Jay Victoria would never do something childish like this but it was an exception, being quiet and mature around adults and places with people was a strategy they used to keep annoying people away and not get too much attention to themself (ignoring the green hair). But whenever they were outside in a place like this they did not mind shouting into the air or going into messy adventures like this! Smack! Jay managed to slap one right into their hand.

Kaylee scoffed at Kyle's downtalk. As if the poor innocent Ravenclaw surprisingly outbeat a big strong Gryffindor. Kaylee rolled up her sleeves and tied up her hair and began to stalk more frogs.
“Hey I have caught two so far!” JV exclaimed.
Kaylee would not let that happen.
She managed to catch a couple more, before putting them back where they were and shooing them off. The others were clambering around noisily, but Kaylee paid attention to every crackle, leaf, twig, bush, etc. so the frogs didn't detect her. There was one right near Kyle's foot and she froze.
Make a fool out of yourself or be smarter.
Obviously the second.
She slid next to Kyle and held up her finger to his mouth when he turned around. She leaned down and the frog jumped right up onto her face. She screeched and stood up a bit too quickly and lost her balance. She slipped and landed rear-first in the lake.
Bloody he-.
Her intelligent side was cut off by a sound from her lips. It was groan laughing. Like... good laughing. She stood up and was covered in water.
"Well that's one way to do it", Kaylee laughed merrily.

Kyle barely tried to really catch any frogs, that in of itself was an odd way to pass time. He mainly focused on spooking and chasing the frogs to make it harder for the other two to catch any, and even splashed some water and mud from time to time to try and get the two of them dirty. It was a very simple way to have fun, but a surprisingly relaxing way.

Then Kay slide up to him and placed a finger on his lips and his face went beat red. He just stared at her for a moment until she quickly moved to snag a frog and let out her yelp as she lost her balance and fell getting wet. He blinked a few times and shook his head before forcing himself to laugh as well. That was weird...why is she so weird. Whatever

He would offer her a cocky smile ”trying to catch frogs, not fish. Think you should stay out of the water there”

Kyle looks over towards J.V. And wipes his hands on his pants, making them more dirty. ”you run around in the mud like this often? Or is this like...some sort of Gryffindor bonding ritual I don’t know about”
