They briefly considered throwing more food at the newcomer, but decided that would without doubt earn them a letter home. "Attacking" prefects was probably not something they wanted their father lecturing them about. She's definitely seen them too, so there will be no sneaking away in the crowd. Ah well, the detention might even be fun. And a chance to make sure they haven't accidentally started any blood feuds with anyone over a fried egg. From experience, you can never be too careful (That was an extremely weird holiday for sure).

The prefect in question looked suitably pissed about her breakfast (Cass would be to, but they would have joined in), so they take a tiny step back off their high ground of the Slytherin table. The spell she used to make her voice louder looked interesting though- Cass could think of a wide variety of uses that it could be put to. They made a mental note to ask a teacher or someone about it later so they could more easily wake up their poor dormmates at 3am. Oh well, guess that tomorrow evening wouldn't be as enjoyable as they had planned. Though, what's the worst that could happen? It was only a detention.

Poor house elves who did the laundry though. They saw a LOT of students covered in food, themself included. It was an indicator of a very successful fight though- the jam everywhere served to tell a tale of their collective exploits in making breakfast more interesting.

OOC NOTES: A suitably epic way to achieve their first detention I think

Oh... that was a prefect, huh?

Bummer! B-u-m-m-e-r! What kind of boring prefect would really sit there and whine about a food fight? Not to mention, a super cool and epic one! Scout had never seen such unity between houses, the want to win this giant food fight bringing the houses of young and old children... this could be so cool for like a movie idea!

Scout hoped she didn't turn into someone like the prefect when she got older. If there ever came a time where the chaos was no longer enjoyable to her... did that mean she had failed in life? Was this what a midlife crisis was?! Oh, wait, Scout was not in the middle of her life- at least she hoped-, this was more like 'youth discovers what it's like to be an adult' crisis, which might actually be scarier. At least midlife crisis's were about like... taxes or something. Were taxes even that bad? Maybe if you hated math...

"Boo." She whispered under her breath, not daring to get in anymore trouble. "Hope it's not a boring detention like writing papers. Ugh, that'd be the worst." Why did Scout even have to serve detention? She wasn't the one who threw eggs in the prefect's breakfast? Boo, she just wanted to throw pancakes around and have a grand time!

She took one last glance at the mess around her, and grabbed the last of the fruit on her plate. She could just eat the apple on the way to wherever she was going to go. Maybe outside, where she could hangout with Emily or something like that. Yeah, that sounds cool.

Walking out of the Great Hall, Scout caught a glimpse of one of the other students who had undoubtedly started this chaotic mess, a short Slytherin with food-covered robes. She didn't say anything to them directly, but she almost smirked at the chaos they had created. Man, why did that prefect have to jump in? Boo!

Ruby was having so much fun. She couldn’t stop smiling. She was hit with all sorts of foods and drinks, but she didn’t care. There were enough bathrooms in Hogwarts to get clean again. Suddenly something soared past her head, nearly hitting her. A little further down the table the object collided with a bowl, and it was smashed into pieces. It was an egg, a raw egg. She looked around who came up with that idea. She saw the Gryffindor girl throw another one. It soared through the Hall, to the Slytherin table, right in front of a Slytherin Prefect.

Ruby felt her smile drop a little bit. Now they had done it. The Prefect stood up and addressed the food throwing students. Ruby was still holding the bowl and a spoon full of porridge.

Again, a detention. Tomorrow, after dinner, here. Who knows, maybe it'll be fun.

Ruby put the bowl back on the table. Ok, detention, obviously. She brushed the majority of the food from her robes and sat back down. Detention or not, Ruby was proud of herself for doing something against the rules and having fun. It was time to start living and that included sometimes breaking the rules. She felt a strange new sense of freedom.

She picked up an apple which was spared from the fight, and headed for her dormitory to get clean. As she left the Great Hall, she waved at the other students in the fight. She would see them again tomorrow.

Ughhhhh. A detention. The following night. Seeing the prefect going over to them and addressing them that they would get detention, Giselle made a face, and reluctantly listened. From a small age, Giselle already thought that prefects were boring, thanks to her parents’ knowledge of the wizarding world. Now, she had finally experienced how exactly much of a bore prefects were. How on earth did prefects become sooooo annoying? We’re prefects like this ever since they were young? was all she thought.

As the prefect declared that they had all been given detention, Giselle felt annoyed. What could ever be a worse ending than this, for an extremely splendid food fight? Feeling that it wasn’t fair, Giselle sighed quietly. What had they done wrong? They weren’t even intending to ruin the prefect’s breakfast, why wasn’t that allowed? Her heart full of those thoughts, Giselle left the Hufflepuff table.

Seeing other participants of the food fight, all leaving the great hall, Giselle followed. Better not forget it, she thought, as she did not want to be in any trouble. Taking slow steps towards the passageway that led from the entrance of the great hall up the stone steps, Giselle took a deep breath. Detention would most certainly be not fun.

In life, you just have to break rules take risks and move on to the next step.
