You swiftly take your seat after the sorting, this wasn't the answer you expected. What with your brother was saying, you thought Slytherin was your only option, not that this is bad. The students seem quiet but welcoming, more interested in the school its self then the students. The lack of pestering conversation comforts and calms you, you were so worried.
Your older brother, Karee, told such bold stories over the summer, about how he got his whole house to respect him and everything, despite his unknown heritage. It was so nerve racking! Of course, looking at him now he seems more nervous than you. He seems to be clinging to one of the older students like a lost puppy. Maybe this house will be great for you!

You never thought that someone as awkward as you could end up in a house such as Gryffindor. You were assured by everyone that you were a Ravenclaw. After all, you are a huge book nerd. You sit separated from the rest of your house, not wanting to socialize, and just read some old books that were given to you. 'There must be a reason I'm in this house.' you think. You look up at the rowdy first year Gryffindors before going back to ignoring them, 'Nope. I'm very sure this is a mistake.'

You decide to look away from your brother's house, it's honestly really depressing. After all, at home, his ego is bigger than the sun. He almost seems resigned over there, maybe you should get your foot in there. But what if it makes it worse? You don't want to ruin all his hard work getting that far! Maybe you should look over at the Gryffindors, Karee always said they where such dunderheads. Maybe it shall distract you.

When you look over there at the house, you see a young boy very involved in his book, he seems so disheartened to be there. You turn to look at your new classmates, they seem preoccupied. Maybe... If you just take a deep breath, you can get the poor boy over here. You head to the table, only to freeze up once you get there, everyone is watching you. This was a horrible idea you think to your self near frozen in fear.

mid chapter, you feel someone looking at you. You stop reading and look at the person standing there looking at you. You give them a dead stare to try and analyse what they were doing. It seems he wants to interact with you but why should he? after all, he's a Ravenclaw and you're a Gryffindor. You have your own house that you don't like while he has the better house that you are jealous of. After you stare at him for a while, you go back to your book with a lot of questions in your mind about him.

1 September.
Great Hall.
After the sorting.

Mari had scurried down the sorting hat, astonished at where it put her. She didn't know much about Hufflepuff, but what she did know is that they were supposedly loyal. Mum had been a Ravenclaw, Dad had been a Muggle. She'd only heard bad things about Mum's family who were Slytherins, so she was somewhat grateful that she had not been there.

Her stomach grumbled. It had been a long day since she had left Holt. She felt a pang as she wondered what her family had been doing since she had left them to go on the Hogwarts Express. Surely they were eating dinner, no longer complete until the holidays. The holidays...would it be wrong to have a countdown until the winter break now? Mari supposed she should give Hogwarts a fair shot before starting.

She looked up and down the Great Hall and noticed something interesting. Two students - one at the Gryffindor table, one at the Ravenclaw table - were giving each other such concentrated stares that one could just feel the communication happening between them. One appeared to be holding a book. Mari wondered if she should try to interact with them; the sorting seemed almost over, and it couldn't hurt to have more friends. She didn't want to interrupt anything, though. If they looked her way, she decided, she would get up and interact with them. They seemed like the type of people that could use a few more friends in this strange place, too.

Maybe it was because the result was to be expected. Not stopping from keeping Kamryn worried. Maybe it was because any other result would be incredibly awkward. Not keeping Kamryn from trying to find some bright side. But once the hat above the young ginger's head exclaimed, "Gryffindor!" Kamryn show up with joy. She always knew she'd get into Gryffindor. All her brothers did. Well besides Thom.
Kamryn could see her two oldest brothers cheering for her at the Gyffindor table. One gesturing to an open seat besides them. As well as Thom, the Ravenclaw, looking maybe the happiest she's ever seen him. Kamryn ran to her siblings, almost tripping over her old hand me down robe.

"Aye, look at ya. Always knew you was one us!" Christopher, the eldest of all the siblings bellowed as was typical. Bear hugging his much younger sister.
"I'm so proud of ya!"
The family went back to their normal charades after that. Paying no more time to Kamryn's house placement. Instead talking about what they all did over the summer. If Kamryn was to be honest, that did upset her. Being ignored as she was.
The ginger looked around the great hall to see if she'd be able to find anyone she knew. Thom seemed to be enyoing himself at the Ravenclaw table; she decided against bothering him. No luck was had looking for the Hufflepuff she met either. Kamryn sighed, about to give up, she noticed a boy, nose deep in a book glaring across to the table to someone she couldn't pin point. She recognized him as someone who was sorted before her. He didn't seem too astounded by his result.

"'Ey Chris, I'm gon' go over there." Kamryn pointed over to the young boy who caught her eye as she got up from her seat. It came to her fast that moving during the ceriomeny was rude, but no one stopped her. Not even herself. Besides it's almost over anyways.
She got behind the other boy. Seemligly unnoticed, Kamryn smirked once an idea came to mind. She reach foward and shook the boy in front of her rather aggressively. "'Ey you! Who ya givin' devil eye to over there huh." She chuckled. Giving only a devious smile as an explanation for what she did.
