Lakeside Afternoon Finished

Ardis stumbled back and fell into the water, landing right on her bum. Most of her uniform was soaked, save for small spots on the front. She watched the Gryffindor start to walk away.

Derook.

She found she didn't quite like that name. Ardis sniffled and got to her feet as tears flooded her eyes. No one had ever been so mean to her before. She wiped her eyes with the heel of her hand, and stepped back onto the shore. Sand collected on the bottoms of her wet shoes. They made squelching noises as she gathered her robe as well as her journal.

At least she hadn't gotten eaten by the squid. Though it was unlikely the creature could even swim in such shallow waters. So there was a sort of silver lining to the situation, it seemed.

She didn't quite know what she would do if she ran into him again, and opted to hang back on the beach to give him plenty of time to get to wherever else he was going. Ardis did know one thing, though.

She wouldn't tattle. He might come after her again. Was that how it worked? It was probably best if she just kept her head down. Perhaps if she avoided him, things would be okay.
