※History/Background Story※
Prior to becoming a student at Hogwarts, Ardis grew up in Kingston upon Hull, England. It is a port city, where the River Hull meets the Humber estuary. Her family lives in a lovely brick house overlooking the waters. Her mother is a witch, also a Hufflepuff during her time at Hogwarts, but decided to settle down with a muggle librarian years after she graduated.
Ardis is the only Byrne child, and though she has secretly always wanted a sibling, she felt asking her parents for such a thing was a little strange. She was born in early May 2008. Her early childhood was uneventful, but it was noted by her parents that she adored most works of Beatrix Potter (no relation to the wizard) specifically Peter Rabbit. She also enjoyed Potter's book Les Champignons when she grew older, and would often attempt to recreate the illustrations Potter had created of various fungi.
She did well in school, and although a quiet child, was often surrounded by friends. She was kind to all those in her class, and lent a helping hand or listening ear when needed. There were some days, teachers would note, that she decided to sit off by herself, and when asked if she was feeling sad, or had an argument with friends, she would merely shake her head and say she 'needed time to appreciate nature, is all.'
At age nine, she began a journal where she would take samples of plants, press them between the pages, and write down their scientific names beneath (her father lent her a book to help her out with that mission). She carries it with her most places. At age ten, she decided she would learn to draw plants, and spent countless hours after school doing her best to create the most accurate illustrations.
Ardis also enjoyed spending time with the stray cats her parents allowed her to feed. There were nine in total that came to her garden, and she named them all according to their personalities. She found that they make for good company when one is trying to draw rosa cultivar: the Shepherdess.
It is also likely that she has a small box under her bed filled with little trinkets she's received from feeding the crows that hung around near her home.
When she received her letter for Hogwarts, her father was thrilled, though her mother was hesitant in celebrating. After all, she had attended Hogwarts during a most dangerous time, and did not want to risk her daughter's safety. Ardis' excitement caused her mother to eventually relent.
