The Great Potions Heist Finished

Kyle’s first few days went by painfully slow. He explored, tried meeting people, tried breaking...er practicing spells, he even read a book! Well...a few chapters. OK! He skimmed the first few pages of one. But still, he made an effort. Despite his best efforts though he just found himself getting more and more bored with each passing day. He missed rough housing, he missed fighting with his friends, he missed mischief and mayhem!...or atleast the closest to mayhem he could get at his age.

As the fat lady waved him in he got the beginning of an idea. As he walked into the common room that idea began to take root. And as he climbed the stairs to his room that idea grew into a full fledged plot!

He was going to steal something from Slytherin.

With any luck that would find out, come to get even, then there would be a good old fashion throw down between houses. What better way to bond them by bloodying your knuckles and sitting around with your mates licking your wounds? It was perfect!

He waited until it was dark and everyone else went to sleep then he slowly creeped out of bed and grabbed the cloths he hid under his pillow. Blue jeans and a black T-shirt. It was inside out to hide the clover emblazoned on it. He snuck slowly down stairs and once in the common room he slipped on his shoes and in an act of pure rebellion he tied his tie around his head like a bandanna...hey, he saw it in a movie once.

With a big grin he laid out some papers on the table and began to draw up some crude plans. For this to work, he needed to be smart. Clever even. Brave! And maybe a little lucky. And since when were the Irish anything, but lucky?

[quote]With a gasp, Marla shot out of bed soaked in sweat. God. Couldn't a girl get some sleep around here? Nope. Apparently not. The girl had been restless for days, having the same nightmare constantly. Was it a warning? Maybe like in the movies? Pfft. What was she thinking? That's ridiculous. Whether it was a warning or not, Marla was sure as hell not getting back to sleep, so she made the decision to curl up and read in the common room. She'd done it countless times before and nothing absolutely horrible had happened (yet), and it was a go-to option whenever she was having a restless night. So, as per usual, she tiptoed slowly off of the mattress onto the cold wood planks, making for her luggage near her bed, attempting to dodge each loose board and failing miserably. Marla was most definitely not one for stealth.

She rummaged through her clothes to change into something that wasn't completely soaked in sweat, finding some leggings and a crimson sweatshirt. She slipped both pieces of clothing on and grabbed her wand, because, well... (that's self-explanatory), and made for the door.

Geez, things got really repetitive really quickly at Hogwarts, because even sneaking out for Marla was becoming dull. There was nothing to do, it was much too windy to go outside and there was no way that anyone would catch her out there in practically a tornado. No thank you. But as if it were a miracle, a figure in the corner of Marla's eye as she peered into the common room snapped her out of her spell of boredom. Who in the world was up as late as her? Should she be scared or excited? Being scared was boring, so the girl decided to be excited. Suppressing a grin, she squeezed into the door by the little crack she had it open and closed it slowly as to not make any noise.

Marla shuffled behind the couch in the middle of the common room near the dark figure quietly, gripping her wand tightly. When she got close, there was quite a weird noise. Was that paper? Well, she would find out soon, because she jumped up in the figure's face and pointed her wand in his face, igniting the wand with light as she whispered the Lumos spell.

"And what are you doing out on this fine evening?" She asked in a mocking manner, a devilish grin forming on her face.

Kyle scribbled some plans out on the papers. A crude map, a layout of how he remembered the potions room. A snake because...reasons. He wasn’t sure WHY he was drawing up plans he just knew in movies or stories that’s what people did. He would need to look into it later there had to be a reason.

Then, he could have sworn he heard shuffling of movement of some kind when suddenly there was a bring light in his face and he sort of fell back and drew his wand defensively, and aimed it at whoever it was.

He looked around and saw there was only the one girl and no one else...was she a first year too? Maybe he wasn’t busted just yet. He motions for her to lower her wand and holds up a finger to shush her before he speaks in his own hushed tone

”just planning a bit of a gaff. Going to the potions class to knick something. You know, as a slag against the Slitherins.” he grins and shrugs as he motions to his, admittedly, poorly draw up plans ”gonna be a riot. Don’t rat me out ok? Worst comes to worst I’ll own up to it so the house don’t get punished, yeah?”

[quote]As the boy motioned for Marla to be quiet, she flicked her wand and the light on the tip dimmed. The only thing keeping the room from being pitch black was the weening fire in the hearth near the entrance of the room. She tilted her head to the side as he explained to her what he was doing.
"A... Slag against the Slytherins? I know they're technically rivals by stereotype, but not all of them are bad." She reasoned, weaving her wand between her fingers. Marla did have many people she'd liked from Slytherin. Ruby Cazares, someone she'd met by sneaking out on the grounds, Koko Riddle, Warren Kirkland, the list goes on. Either way, it was just a prank, and if she'd let him commence in the deed, then she'd have some beef against him... Right?

"Seems quite interesting," Marla noted to herself as she grabbed the map from his hands, examining it herself. It was... Hard to decipher, to say the least, but looked like it could be a good scheme, nonetheless. "And don't you dare even hint at me being a snitch, I'm no such thing. This actually looks pretty fun if you wouldn't mind someone helpin' you out." She hinted with a sarcastic smile, placing the map back down onto the table. Thank god for that stupid nightmare, or she'd never get the chance to do something as completely awesome as this.

She wanted in on the plan? Interesting...if nothing else having a second pair of eyes, ears and hands could come in very useful indeed. Besides...what was that saying? It takes two to tango right? Well tonight it seemed like they would tango indeed!

He nods and returns her grin with one of his own ”Alright. Names Kyle, the lads back home call me Rook. Either will do” he motions to his plans once more ”now the plan here, isn’t to tick off the potions teacher so much as get at the slitherins. So we need to knick something that they would notice, like something green or snake like. Maybe something that is representative of the house or something “ he scratches along his jaw as he thinks about what they can take.

He stands up and grabs the papers before walking over and tossing them into the fire place. Gotta make sure there is no evidence directly tied to them. They gotta THINK it was gryffindor. Not know exactly who did it. Which is why he was going to leave a little lions head patch behind in the spot of whatever it was they took. Though he had to make sure his new accomplice didn’t notice that part. ”we can figure out the what once inside. Cmon” and with that he made his way towards the door out of the common room

[quote]The boy introduced himself as Kyle, but Marla supposed she'd call him Rook. It sounded a bit cooler, after all.
"Kyle's a little dull, I'll call you Rook then," She put her hand out for him to shake, "I'm Marla Quinlan." Once she shook his hand, he immediately made for the papers with the plans scribbled messily in smudged ink and threw them into the fire. Practical. It would be a disaster, no– a death sentence if the two had been found out. Sneaking out after hours was one thing, but stealing was a whole different story. It was basic rules not to steal. Hell, it's a felony in the muggle word and the wizarding world, that has to count for something. As Rook made for the common room door, she grabbed his sleeve and turned him around.
"We better not get caught. Be smart about this." She demanded, crossing her arms together. Marla wasn't this bossy all the time, but it was different when you're about to sneak out, steal something from an authority member, relight an old flame (Slytherin/Gryffindor rivalry), all with a stranger. Of course, the risk was worth it. At least to her, it was. There was no way in hell she was going to let the threat of detention linger over her head to pass up something as awesome as this.
"Idunno, I think we should steal more than just one thing when we get to the potions room. Maybe a powerful potion or something? Just a reward for being able to pull this off, y'know?"

Kyle listened to her introduce herself and, truth be told, started to tune her out as she began to caution and worry about getting caught. Half the fun of causing trouble was the risk. And the best validation for a job well done WAS getting in trouble. After all, nobody knew about the sneaks and spies who did things without being found. but everyone talks about the big grand heists and throw arounds. But he figured he would appease the girl. after all, they were partners now.

"Alright Quin I hear ya. This aint my first party. I know how to be quiet and keep a low profile. Theres a reason I only went wore metal bracelets once, ya?" he winked and stepped out of the common room and began to creep down the hallways towards the potions room taking care to step softly and stick to the shadows. dropping to his stomach more than once as he was sure he heard someone coming, and if he was going to be busted it was going to be red handed dang it!

As they got to the potions room he knelt down next to the door and looked to Quin "Alright. Ill look for something to knick, you get to work on brewing something. I uh...Well I dont know what im doing in that department. Sound good?" he speaks in a hushed whisper, but the fire of excitement is still very noticable

[quote]Marla rolled her eyes subtly as Rook mentioned he'd only been in cuffs once. She was sure that she'd done the same things as him, if not worse, and she'd never been arrested. Maybe it wasn't the best idea to be sneaking out with him if he'd gotten caught once before... No matter, it was too late now. No turning back.
"Been in cuffs once? I've never gotten caught before. You have to up your game, mate." She joked, shooting the boy a smirk as she slipped out the door and continued following him.
"Alright. I'll look for something to knick, you get to work on brewing something. I uh...Well, I don't know what I'm doing in that department. Sound good?" The boy had asked. Marla shook her head. She couldn't brew potions for her life. The only ones she knew how to brew were either super boring or took a painful amount of time to finish.
"I cannot brew any potions for my life. I mean– I can, but the ones I can are really stupid. I'll nick one or two from the shelves, yeah?" The girl suggested in a hushed tone. There was no way in hell she was brewing anything. Although it would be cool to be in the potions room after hours, staying in there for more than twenty or thirty minutes was super risky. Most professors would be asleep, but Marla wasn't taking any chances.

he chuckles slightly as she rags him for getting caught once before "Half the fun of getting into trouble is the chase when you get caught, and perfect records are boring." he shrugs and slowly pushes open the door to the potions room and then pushes his back flat against the wall as he waits for anyone inside to say something about the door, or maybe even move towards it. when he doesnt hear anything he shoots Quin a thumbs up and slips inside the room. Kyle gives his accomplice a moment to get inside as well before he slowly closes the door back again and takes great care to make it close quietly. he stands up straight now that they were in the clear and he grins. "Easy as cake"

Now that they were inside he made his way towards the walls and the shelves as he begins to look for something, anything he could take that would be noticed. there were loads of ingredients and reagents and glasses and jars and things. He had practically no idea what any of them were but a good number of them looked interesting. And then he saw it. the perfect thing to take.

He makes a 'Psst!' noise and quickly waves over Marla before he holds up two jars of Boomslang skin and he chuckles. "Think its time to evict the snakes from the dungeon. Fitting eh?"

[quote]Marla let out a huff of annoyance as the boy had explained that the fun is getting caught. He couldn't be more wrong! At least for Marla, he couldn't. How could you have fun while being nearly incarcerated? Only a delinquent had that kind of mentality. Then again, he probably was one. Striding around like having a felony on his permanent record made him cool.

However, she couldn't deny that she was impressed when he'd stealthily made his way inside the potions room. At least he knew what he was doing.
"Easy as cake." Rook whispered before disappearing into the darkness of the classroom. Marla quickly followed behind him, closing the door silently behind her. As she saw Kyle walking to the far left side of the classroom, she made way for the right side. Might as well take something worthwhile, since she was there already... Everyone was asleep, not like they'd realize. She was specifically looking for a Felix Felicis potion, she'd read about them in a newspaper and immediately wanted to try one. When you drank it, everything you tried in succeeded for an hour. How amazing was that? Marla had no idea what it looked like though, not like she could see in the classroom, anyways. What she was focusing on most right now was to keep from blindly breaking anything.

Marla jumped when Kyle made a 'psst'! noise and gave him a dirty look when she turned to glance at him.
"You scared me, idiot." She crossed her arms, but immediately relaxed and broke into a grin when she saw the outline of what was in his hands. Marla walked over and grabbed one of the jars in Rook's hand.
"Think its time to evict the snakes from the dungeon. Fitting eh?" He asked, in which Marla responded with a nod.
"Quite smart, actually..." she mumbled, eyes glued to the ingredient,"Now, let's take a potion for the go and get the hell out of here." She whispered, walking back to the right side of the room, searching through cabinets for something. Anything that was remotely interesting.
