[quote]The small girl sitting at an empty table drummed her fingers against the wooden desk. The steady drumming was rhythmic, and steady. Someone from a nearby table cleared their throat, possibly trying to get her attention. Blaire flicked her sapphire eyes up from the page she had been reading from. A few other students glared back. Putting her hands in her lap, she mouthed the word ‘sorry’ and turned her attention to her work.

One of her many heavy textbooks laid open on the desk in front of her. Surrounding that were a few other books left open, and papers scattered about. She had been working on a paper for her transfiguration class and was a having a little bit of trouble. Thoughts swarmed her head; her mind was racing a thousand miles a minute. Blaire could feel the stress swelling in her body. Pushing her fingers against her temples she closed her eyes. She hadn’t let schoolwork stress her out until this point. She was starting to feel burnt out, Blaire had been studying nonstop all day it seemed, only braking for food and the restroom.

If she didn’t ease up soon, Blaire was certain she would crack. Leaning back in her chair she stretched her arms out listening as the joints and bones loosened up. Blaire had been going strong since the beginning of the school year. Even during winter break she locked herself away in her room pouring over another book she had checked out from the library. Then again, Blaire would find any excuse to avoid her mother while home from school.

A few of her Slytherin housemates had asked if she wanted to hangout earlier. They were heading back to the common room, to play a game or something like that. Blaire had declined, but now she was starting to think maybe she should have joined. The year was almost over and there wasn’t a single thing Blaire had done that was even slightly mischievous. For the most part it had been a very dull year for her. Blaire wasn’t really a troublesome child at home. She just happened to find fun in the occasional prank. She enjoyed breaking a few rules every once in a while. Rules to Blaire were just suggestions.

Closing her book with a loud thud she began to arrange the papers that had been strewn across the desk. Shoving the book and loose papers into her book bag, she neatly stacked the few other books that belonged to the library. Maybe she would go back to the common room. With an arm full of books, she began walking up and down the aisles of bookshelves, trying to remember where she had gotten these from. Her footsteps echoed off the large shelves that were crammed full of old leather-bound books. Her eyes scanned the many rows trying to find the correct spot. As she kneeled to stick a book in an empty spot on a lower shelf, a plait of blonde hair fell over one of her shoulders. Blaire stood, pushing the braid back over her shoulder.

As she rounded the corner, her foot tangled in one of her shoe’s laces. Due to her hands being preoccupied holding the stacks of books, she couldn’t reach out to brace for impact. Instead, the books went skidding across the stone floor, and her body slammed into the ground. All of this was amplified by a loud crashing sound, and the very loud scream that had erupted from Blaire’s mouth. It was more of a high-pitched screech, not just a simple scream. Her eyes widened, quickly she began trying to gather her books. Luckily, she was blocked from eyesight behind one the bookshelves. She couldn’t see the other children, but she could hear their snickers. Blaire could also hear the librarian trying to bring order and quiet back to the library. Rolling her eyes Blaire let out a sigh as she hoisted herself off the floor. Leaning against the wall she began to examine the damage done to her body. Could this day get any worse? Blaire really needed to unwind.

Camille loved being a part of the Slytherin House. At first, she'd thought the Sorting Hat had made a mistake somehow. Her father was a Slytherin, her mother was a Hufflepuff, and her older sister Sierra was a Ravenclaw. Her younger sister Emma was yet to be Sorted, as she was coming to Hogwarts next year. However, all four had assured her that she had the personality of a sweet Hufflepuff. When the Hat screamed, "SLYTHERIN!" for all of Hogwarts to hear, Camille was definitely confused. Her feet stood her up and lead her to the Slytherin table while doubting thoughts entered and left her mind at their will. I'm a pureblood, is that why the Hat put me into Slytherin? What if I don't belong? Was my fate decided before I even sat down? I'm going to embarrass myself awfully. But thoughts like these quickly left when she sat down at the Slytherin table and began to make small conversation with her fellow first years. Now, she was beginning to make new friends, know her way around the castle more, and learn new spells she hadn't known about before.

But being a Slytherin did have its downsides. The fact that the Common Room was in the basement nearly drove the young girl mad the first couple of weeks. No windows, which meant no sunlight, and it was a bit chilly on any given day. She'd discovered that the Library was the perfect place to study with its windows, light, and warm atmosphere. So when she needed a break from the dark Slytherin quarters, the Library was her haven.

It was a normal day that Camille had decided to sit in her favorite window seat and read for a bit out of her History of Magic textbook. She was falling just a bit behind in that class and wanted to get some last minute reading done before the week's end. Her fingers had just turned the page when a sudden bang and scream interrupted her. The startled Camille jumped as other students laughed quietly. The librarian quickly brought order back to the library and things went on as usual.

Camille gently shut her book and tucked it under her arm. She stood up and curiously paced over the the shelves where she'd heard the noises come from. Sure enough, there was a girl leaning against the wall, looking herself over; Camille assumed for bruises. She slowly approached and noticed the Slytherin crest on her robes. I've never seen her before... she thought before swallowing and speaking quietly, so she didn't disturb the newly settled peace.

"Hello. Are you okay? That sounded like a nasty fall."

[quote]Blaire had always been a little bit on the clumsy side. You would never believe she had been a trained ballet dancer. Blaire could feel her cheeks flush as she stood, trying to brush the bits of dust from her school robes. Straightening herself up she heard someone approaching. Hoping it wasn’t the librarian coming to scold her for causing such a racket, she kept her eyes on the ground preparing herself. Blaire wasn’t used to being reprimanded.

Before Blaire left for school, she had only ever been scolded by her mother, on the occasion she saw her. Blaire’s nanny would never dare chastise the little girl. In her eyes she already had it hard enough, what with being blatantly cast aside by her parents. Maybe that was why she acted out the way she did. She hoped it would finally catch her parent’s attention, even if it wasn’t for the better.

She hadn’t been too nasty, but she did like to play tricks occasionally on the servants. She would sometimes hide in the pantry and jump out at the cook when she would open the door. Blaire would leave frogs she had caught by the creek on the hardwood floor. Giggling to herself she would watch them hop around as the butler would chase them about. Everyone would smirk, give her a small nudge, and tell her to go play somewhere else. Her nanny would tell her that little ladies shouldn’t act that way but would leave it at that and say nothing more about the matter.

The voice Blaire heard did not belong to the school’s librarian, but another fellow student. Raising her head so she could see who it was, she realized she didn’t recognize the girl at all. With a quick glance she recognized instantly that the other girl was a Slytherin as well. Blaire hadn’t had the chance to meet too many of her housemates. She had stayed cooped up in the Library most of her time between classes studying. Blaire hoped that top grades would finally bring her a bit of attention due to something good. Unfortunately, she had spent so much time with her head in a book though that now she felt like an outsider within her schoolhouse. Smirking she looked at her classmate, ”Oh I’m alright I suppose… I think it sounded worse than it was.” Pushing off the wall she straightened herself up. ”I’m Blaire by the way, I don’t think we’ve met before.”

"I'm Camille," she replied softly. "You can call me Camie if you like, I don't mind."

Her eyes flickered up and down, observing Blaire shyly. Blaire looked confident, beautiful and mischievous, everything Camille wasn't. Just from her looks, Camille assumed that Blaire was the epitome of a normal Slytherin girl. Stop it! she told herself fiercely. Don't judge people like that! You don't like it when people judge you! As a pureblood Slytherin, Camille had experience stereotyping and judging herself, and she knew how much she personally hated it. She wasn't about to judge Blaire, especially because they just met. You know nothing about her.

"And are you sure you're alright?" she added worriedly. "I'm training to be a mediwizard... I could just make sure you didn't do anything..." She hated how unsure she sounded. If you spoke that way to one of your real patients... It wouldn't be good. A mediwizard needs to know and be confident in what their doing. If they aren't, then their worry rubs off on the patients and makes everything worse. Would you calm down? she thought, her eyes blinking quickly for a moment. She's not a real patient. "Uh... sorry if I'm bothering you."

Blaire smiled at Camie warmly, she wasn’t used to receiving this much attention after an accident. ”Camie, that’s cute. I wish I had a fun nickname. But Blaire is, just, well Blaire.” Leaning forward Blaire adjusted her socks, one of them had dropped below her knee, revealing a small scrape. Frowning she brushed at it and pulled the sock back up. Blaire was used to getting bruises. She wasn’t what you would call a proper lady. At bath time her nanny always pointed out how inappropriate it was for a girl her age to be covered in bumps and scrapes.

Typically, her wounds were from climbing trees, falling from trees, rolling down the hills, trying to catch rabbits in the forest. All sorts of things that her poor old nanny frowned upon. Here at Hogwarts, her battle wounds were less impressive. Stumbling downstairs, upstairs, walking along corridors. It was hard to believe she had never broken something. Just luck, Blaire supposed. Blaire’s nanny thought putting her in dance would help even out some of her balance. When she was dancing one would never know she had such difficulty just walking.

Blaire cocked her head to one side and smirked a little. Why did this girl care so much? It was sweet, just uncharacteristic of a Slytherin. ”You can look if you’d like, but really, I’m fine. I’ve gotten worse bumps before.” Blaire tried to give the girl a friendly smile. ”I haven’t met that many fellow housemates, I don’t spend that much time in the common room. I suppose that’s why I don’t recognize your face. Camie seemed likeable, she probably had already made a ton of friends unlike Blaire.

OOC: sorry for the delay!
