A potion a day keeps the failures away PV Victoria Lena Jones PV Elodie Norman Closed

Tori going to the library. Classes were over and they were going to meet their friends at the library for potions homework. Her hair was different from those in the class. Her red wavy hair was gone, replaced by straight brown hair with bangs. Her mother didn't mind him using her Metamorphosis feature outside of class or mischief.

When she came to the library, he breathed in the beautiful smell of books. She had been here once, so she was somewhat familiar with this smell. She goes through the bookshelves and grabs a few potions books. 'I hope these will be useful to us,' she thought.

She left the bookshelf and started looking for the kids she was grouped with in his potions class. When she saw the boy with short wavy hair and brown eyes behind him, she smiled and went to him.

"Hi. I think we'll do potions group homework together. Another girl will come if I remember correctly. Anyway, my name is Victoria. Victoria Lena Jones. I found some books, I hope it will help with my homework."

She puts the books on the table and sits next to the child. She knew he was talking a little too much. She started taking out his things.

Since Tori is Metamorphosis, the character's current hair is brown, but in the course her normal color was red.

Elodie's breaths came in rapid puffs as she walked as quickly as she could to the library, resisting the urge to run through the halls. Her knuckles were white stars as she clutched the strap of her satchel, her robes slightly ruffled as Elodie pushed the doors open, her hair frazzled and messy.

Elodie took in a deep breath, striding up to the other to with a small smile. Her breath was still coming somewhat quick, but the girl hardly noticed as her gaze roved over the other two. She pushed her glasses up her nose, and it was at that moment she realized her robes were messy and wrinkled, not to mention the cat hair clinging to them. The girl sighed, tugging on the hem of her skirt. "Ah, hello. I'm terribly sorry to be late. Uhm... My name's Elodie. You guys are my study partners, right?"

Elodie slid into a chair across from Mylo, crossing her legs and setting down her satchel. The Ravenclaw took this moment to study the other two, biting her lip. The person in front of her had short brown hair, and she guessed they were only a bit older than her. The other girl had brown hair, though hers was straight while Elodie had somewhat messy curls. She sighed, reaching down to rummage through her bag, pulling out a few thick books and glass phials filled with a myriad of brews she'd worked endlessly preparing the previous day.

With these objects clung an assortment of items, including cat toys, hair elastics, and pieces of parchment hastily scribbled with words. Elodie blinked and blushed, snatching up the items and stuffing them into her satchel. "Sorry about that!"

The girl had never been organized, but her cheeks still reddened at the clumsiness with which she'd handled that. Were they judging her? Elodie sighed, pushing her glasses up her nose and beginning to flip through the books she'd brought as an excuse to not have to look at her companions, to see the silent judgement in their eyes.

Still in his thoughts about whether or not it would be worth it to get up and look for some books, not wanting to leave the table in case his study partners got there and couldn't see them, they hadn't noticed another student coming up to him, she was carrying a few library books which seemed to be on potions. Their theory was conformed when she introduced herself as Victoria and told them she had gathered a few books for the homework she hoped would be helpful. Sitting next to Mylo she started getting out her stuff.

"Yeah we there should be another student joining us, I believe she's called Elodie? I didn't quite catch it." Mylo said as he looked towards the door, curious who the other student would be. "I might go and have a quick look myself for some books, would you mind keeping an eye on my stuff?" They said, starting figure out where to go for the right books.

Before he could get up though a short girl walked up to their table, looking around the same age as himself he noted, a small smile on her face. She looked as if she had rushed a little to get here and seemed a little flustered. She introduced herself as Elodie and sat across from Mylo, getting her stuff out many cat toys also decided to show themselves, not noticing the embarresment on her face Mylo's eyes started to light up. He loved cats, they had begged their dad's for one but James had allergies and as such they had never been able to get one. "Omg, do you have a cat!? I love cats, did you know that they use 30 muscles to move their ears?" grinning in excitement, he quickly realized that he might be coming on a bit strong, 'Damn, don't scare them off yet. You've hardly spend anytime with them.' Slowly trying not to panic, the fact not being helped by the breakdown from the morning, at the thought of having annoyed them they rhythmically tap their hand on his leg trying to ground themselves. "Sorry 'bout that...., uhm, I'm going to look for some books." Standing up, he quickly walks over to a section of books trying to focus on what he needs to find.

While Tori was putting away her belongings, she was listening to Mylo's conversation.

"Sure. Don't worry."

Just as Mylo stood up, another girl came. When she learned that the girl's name was Elodie, she realized that she was her partner. She smiled and introduced herself.

"Nice to meet you Elodie. My name is Victoria. But I prefer Tori. Thats more easy. Wow you look like you rushed your way there."

She watched as the girl sitting across from Mylo opened her bag. Meanwhile, she heard Mylo talking excitedly. She could understand how Mylo felt at Tori talked when she got excited.

"Don't worry. I also talk a lot when I'm excited. Normally I talk a lot, but when I get excited I talk faster."

She said after him. They were left alone with Elodie for now. Meanwhile, she looked at the lock of brown hair on her shoulder.

"Do you think my hair should stay this color or does blonde suit me better?"

She opened her bag and took out a mirror. She held it up to his face and closed his eyes, grimacing. When she opened her eyes, she saw that her hair was light blonde.

"Much better. What do you think?"

Elodie blinked with surprise at this rapid turn of events, having opened to answer Mylo that she did indeed have a cat, then staring after him when he got up and approached the bookshelves. Her bafflement continued with the other study partner, who was cheerful to the point of overwhelming Elodie, though Tori's smile made Elodie want to smile.

She couldn't help but gape for a moment as the girl's hair shifted colors, though she quickly shook it off, having recalled her research on Metamorphmagi. "Ah, it looks great!" The girl offered up, distractedly twirling her own chocolate-colored hair around a finger.

She paused this, however, when memories flashed behind her eyelashes every time she blinked. Tori's hair was almost exactly the same shade as Poppy's hair, which made Elodie ache for home. Her 4-year-old half sister's giggling face was all she saw when she closed her eyes, filling Elodie with a sense of longing and sadness. Who was she to enjoy her time at Hogwarts, learning magic and making friends, when she'd abandoned her family? Her mother couldn't rely upon Elodie to help clean the pub, and her sister would experience birthdays and Christmases without her. Perhaps she'd even forget she has an older sister. Heck, Elodie had even abandoned her elderly beagle, Sir Barkington, leaving him home and getting a cat to fill the lonely hole in her heart.

Before she sunk too deep into this internal monologue, Elodie shook herself as if she could get rid of these pesky emotions, distracting herself by flipping through the books she'd brought. "Should we start?" The girl asked, pushing her glasses up her nose.

Looking through the books Mylo found a few with general information on a few potions and decided to bring them back to the table. Noticing that Tori had changed her hair, it was blond now. 'That is... different, I shouldn't be surprised given it's a magical school and all. They've probably got a spell for everything, a hair dyeing spell is probably the least cool.' Mylo thought to themselves moving back to his seat.

A bit nervous he turns to the other two, takes a deep breath and starts apologizing, "Uhm, sorry I ran off, I didn't mean to start rambling about random facts. It just happens when I know stuff about certain things, I won't do it again, don't worry!" They hadn't had the best experience with their rambling about fun facts outside of his close friends and family, and tried not to do it around strangers or people he didn't know very well, but apparently the cat beat them.

Opening the books they had collected Mylo started looking through them, trying to find a potion that look or sounded interesting enough to write an essay about. Putting the other books they weren't reading through in the middle he said quickly glancing up at the others, "If you want to look through these please do"

Tori wondered about Elodie's reaction with curious eyes, but when she saw that Elo looked sad, she immediately started talking worriedly.

"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to upset you. Did I make you sad? It's very contradictory to the previous question, but I'm still sorry. Sorry."

She was talking too much nonsense. She rambled a little more than usual because he was so worried. She was broken from her thoughts when she saw Mylo returning. She looked at the books in her hands with curiosity.

"It's not much of a problem for me. Anyway. Hmm, let's see."

She opened one of the books Mylo brought and started examining it. Sbe didn't know much about potions, so she focused a little more on the book to help.

"Hmm, let's see, I think we can explain the potion called Verisitaserum in our article. It looks like a pretty interesting potion. Does the person who drinks really have to tell everything that is asked?. "

She asked curiously. A potion of truth could really add some color to his articles, she thought. In this way, maybe they could get a good grade on the assignment. As she continued to examine the book further, she wondered what her friends would say.

Elodie tilted her head, pushing her glasses up her nose as her gaze roved over the pages. Her eyes were a rich brown, as if they were two pools of the richest chocolate.

``Yes, I believe that's how it works.`` She flipped open another book, sliding her finger down the page she had opened to.

`` I'm fine, by the way. Thanks for the concern. I will say, while that's a good idea, Verisitaserum is a bit of a common one. It'd probably be best to do one that's really made an impact on the development of potions.``

The girl hummed thoughtfully, flipping through the book before landing on a page, turning the book so her study partners could see it. ``I was thinking something like this. Of course, if you don't like it, I understand.`` She stammered.

The page was flipped open to the Wolfsbane potion, which wouldn't come as a surprise for those who know Elodie well. She was a notorious animal lover and non-human sympathizer, with dreams of becoming a Magizoologist. A bit of guilt arose in her chest as she recognized that, while she may love such potions, her companions might not.

``U-uhm, while lycanthropy is impossible to cure, Wolfsbane potion helps alleviate the symptoms.`` Elodie stammered anxiously

``It's known for being absolutely disgusting, and there's no way to sweeten it, as the addition of sugar renders it ineffective.`` The girl read aloud, reading from her book.

``The drinker had to take a goblet of the potion once a day for a week prior to the upcoming full moon, and missing even one dosage would render it ineffective. It was developed by Damocles Belby in the second half of the twentieth century and was the most successful treatment for werewolves. When a werewolf transforms at the full moon, they become basically a wild animal, and will attack anything in the area including humans; of course, the bite of the werewolf is infectious and will result in the bitten person also becoming a werewolf. Wolfsbane Potion is a very recent discovery; if taken regularly once a day in the week prior to the full moon, it results in the werewolf keeping their mind when they transform, thus making them able to lie quietly in private, rather than running mindlessly and striking out at everything.``

The books contained quite a lot of potions, which was to be expected from a book of potions to be fair, all of them sounding really quite interesting. Unfortunately Mylo's anxiety's were playing up. Neither of his fellow study buddies had acknowledged their rambling as far as they had noticed which left their brain to come up with it's own lovely conspiracies. Luckily he (thought he) was quite the pro at hiding their anxieties, and it left them tapping their hand on their thigh to help them calm down.

Attempting to continue reading they listened in on what the others were saying, both of the potions they'd mentioned seemed interesting, but Elodie seemed to have found a lot about the potion she had contributed, the wolfsbane potion. As she read aloud from the book he thought about how he quite liked the idea of using potions that had an impact on society, it would give them quite a good amount to write about. Taking a deep breath, trying to keep it inconspicuous though, he pushed down some of the anxiety he was feeling.

"Uhm... I like both potions, the wolfsbane one we can write a lot about on the impact on society, the Verisitaserum one we can write about the bad and good sides of it. Uhm, I could also looks for another one."
