Leona walks up to the Owlery to write a letter to her family and some of her friends. She had made a promise to herself she would never send them an owl. She wanted them to know that she would not be coming home for the winter break. Alright so...what should I write. She didn't see anyone around as she rummaged around looking for paper. Ok, here we are...the paper. She slowly wrote the letter to her family.

Dear Mother, Father and Grandparents,
I had heard that I was able to stay at Hogwarts for this Winter break. During this break I will read and will have fun here. I am sorry for not sending an owl sooner but I was quite busy. I have made some friends at Hogwarts and I am happier than I have ever been. At Hogwarts I have been learning many things. At the beginning of the year I was sorted into Hufflepuff as my house. In the Hufflepuff Common Room I have chosen the dorm of Plant Palace. There I have my dorm mate. She is very nice and I feel we will become friends very soon. I love you but I am sending you this to tell you I will be staying at Hogwarts.

Sincerely Leona

Leona wrote very slowly as she managed to not make much noise when she saw some kids. Well that's over with now.

Felix stands in a corner of the Owlery, quietly chatting with an owl. Why not? There's almost no one here, and plenty of people at least greet the owls, right?

He holds a letter in his left hand, already written and ready to be sent. His handwriting is rather rough and barely legible, but his family are used to that. It's a request to stay at Hogwarts for the break. It's addressed to Dad, Lala and Lolo.
Felix calls his grandma 'Lala', though the proper term was 'Lola', because when he was little he hadn't been able to say that, and therefore, 'Lala' stuck. Even now, almost eleven years later.

He decided that he wanted to ask if he could stay at Hogwarts, even if it's unlikely that his family will actually say yes, since they believe in 'family holidays' so much. It's not that he doesn't like family time, or that he doesn't miss home at all, but he likes his quiet, personal space too, and he'd like to see what the Winter break is like at Hogwarts.

Dear Dad, Lala and Lolo,

School has been great, I like charms a lot, and flying is really fun. There's lots of books in the library to read, I've started exploring a bit more, now that I've been at school for a few months.
Hope you guys are doing good, and that the chickens are behaving themselves. Give Pecan a hug for me!

I was just wondering if I could stay at Hogwarts for the Winter break? There are other people staying, and I think it would be a lot of fun. The Grounds are very pretty right now, and there's good food as well. I get if you want me to be home for the holidays, but I'll probably come home for the spring break

Take care,
Felix

He ties it to the owl's leg, turns around, and heads towards the stairs to start the trip down from the Owlery tower.

Hope you don't mind me joining, Leona, I know that this is technically a solo, but you were doing the same thing as me, so yeah. We don't have to interact or anything (unless you want to). I know you said you were pretty bored, so here's something you can do, though you'll have to untag it as solo if you're fine with me contributing, you can make it pv. Or you can tell me to move to my own thread. That's fine.

Leona notices a boy that looks very familiar. He had looked like he was talking to an owl. Is that...Oh no...that's Felix She recognizes the boy from a few past days. The first one was very embarrassing, Leona had hit Felix with a book. Then the second time Leona hit her head and then fainted. She didn't really think she had a good relationship with Felix. She gets up and leaves her letter on a table. "Hey...Felix." She awkwardly says seeing Felix head to the stairs.

"What are you doing here?" Leona says anxiously. Felix usually didn't care about what Leona says so she tried to just say 'hi'. But then words came out of her mouth without her knowing it. Oh no did I just mess up? She stopped and stood near the stairs, wanting to know what Felix was doing. She turned a bit to look at an owl nearby. So cute. Owls are adorable. She waves to the owl. She did it quick enough that she didn't think Felix noticed.

A huge wave of curiosity filled Leona as she looked at Felix. Why is he here? Is he going to stay over the winter break? Should I ask him?

Well this will be fun. It's Leona. Yeah, that's... okay? Felix stops walking and turns around, answering "Er... sending a letter? And visiting the owls? And just hanging out in general." He didn't really mean to say that much, just that he was sending a letter, but he was a bit caught off guard, and didn't have time to decide what he was actually going to say.

His previous interactions with this particular Hogwarts student hadn't really been or turned out that good. Their first encounter, he walked away with a bruise on his face from a heavy book. The second time, she got knocked over by the wind, hit her head, and yelled a lot.

On one hand, he wants to get away, because this interaction, knowing his luck, will probably not turn out any better than the others. On the other hand, he's bored to death, he's sent his letter, and he's already been caught talking to an owl, so there's not much more bad stuff that can happen, right?

Okay, he probably shouldn't say that, that'll most likely jinx him (non-magically of course) and he really, really doesn't want that to happen.

So, in conclusion, he keeps talking. "What are you doing here?"

"I'm also sending a letter...are you by any chance...staying for the winter break." Leona asks Felix. He looks like he wants to leave. Should I let him? She looks at the table with her letter. She moves aside for Felix to leave. She wasn't really expecting Felix to answer. Leona walks over to the table and behind to write again.

Dear Mom and Dad,
This letter is originally for my friends. So if you can give this to my friends I would be very grateful.

Dear my friends,
I'm sorry I can't remember your names. I will be staying at my boarding school over the winter break. Here I have met very good people that I am proud to call my friends. My dorm mate would probably like to meet you if she could. I also have met a boy named Felix. No, he is not my boyfriend, he is a jerk who can be nice sometimes. Well I have sent you this letter to tell you I will be staying this winter break. I will see you spring break or summer.

Sincerely Leona <3

Leona tries the letter to a nearby owl and then ties her other letter. Well I have told everyone.

He leans against the wall a bit, crossing his arms. "I might be staying for the break, provided my dad lets me." Felix talks pretty fast, and kind of quietly, but it's not purposeful, that's just how he talks.

He sees a small, broken piece of plastic on the ground, probably broken by him stepping on it, since it was right beside his foot. He crouches and picks both parts up, and wonders if he can test his Reparo spell on it. Maybe.
Felix decides to try it. "Reparo" his attempts at the wand movement was pretty bad, but the second time he tried it, the plastic did fix. He successfully resist the urge to whoop and pump his fist in the air. Just barely.

It was some sort of scrap from something, but he couldn't figure it out. Doesn't really matter though. Not at all. It's totally not going to be his obsession for the next two days. Totally not. Obviously not.

He turns back towards Leona, a slight smile on his face from his recent achievement.
"Why do you ask? Are you staying for the break? Also, that's a lot of letters." his right leg is kind of aching, so he shifts his weight back onto his left one. Standing straight is impossible for Felix, he's always sort of lopsided.

"Well why does it matter to you?" Leona says a little annoyed that Felix had asked. "Well, yes. You probably would too if you had my family." She looks at Felix. He seems happy. She looks around for something that Felix would be happy about. Why is he so happy? "Sorry for sounding angry...I was just annoyed." Leona apologizes.

Leona looks around a bit more and then gets up to leave. She stops to look back at Felix. He looks like he's lop sided. She stares at him for a couple minutes and then sits back down. She wants to start a conversation with him but most end up in Felix possibly not liking her. I should just go...No I don't want to though. "So...you want to stay here...Cool" She stops to look at Felix to see if he's mad. He doesn't look mad.

An owl nearby looks at Leona. "Do you think owls are adorable?" She randomly says. Oops...Oh gosh...Wait maybe we can talk about...owls? She wonders if Felix likes owls but she tries to not ask him. Leona thinks that maybe Felix and her can hang out at the Owlery...if they get closer. Well Felix might like owls.

"Yeah, owls are great. Did you know that owls don't have eyeballs? Their eyes are kinda like tubes, so they have literal binocular vision. That's why they have to turn their heads around to see." Dang it, the bird facts have surfaced.
A feather drifts and lands in his hair, and Felix shakes himself out. He does that a lot, it's just a reflex, and sometimes people find it weird, but it's like shaking his leg while he's sitting. He just does it, and it feels weird to not do it.
"What's up with your family? I mean, you keep mentioning them. I'm just a bit curious, sorry if it's invasive, yeah, I should probably shut up now..." his voice gets quieter at the end, and he suddenly notices how high his voice seems. He notices that sometimes. Apparently, your voice sounds louder to you than to others, because you're hearing it through bone while others are hearing it through air. He doesn't really like that fact. it's not very nice to know that you're not hearing your voice the same as other people are. It's kind of unsettling. That's also why your voice sounds so weird when you listen to a recording of yourself.

"Well...I don't really like them...they kind of...well..." Leona looks at Felix wishing he hadn't asked. I shouldn't tell him...or did I before? She looks around and then looks back at Felix. "My family...they ignored me for my entire life. Is that what you want to hear?" At the end Leona noticed she was getting a bit aggravated. Oh...sorry. She meant to say but she couldn't find the words. Did I sound too mad? Please...tell me I didn't. She looks back around trying to avoid Felix's gaze. "So...how do you know so much about...owls?" She asks Felix, still avoiding looking at Felix.

Is that a feather? On the ground...cool. Leona goes to grab a feather that's sitting by Felix. It's an owl feather that Felix had brushed off his hair. It was an off-white color that looked like it was from a white owl maybe. Well another one for my collection...if I can get it. She looks at the feather and then quickly grabs it hoping Felix doesn't notice her. Leona pushes it in her bag and then stands up to face Felix. "So...how...are you...Sorry for all the questions and for hitting you with a book..." She apologizes for her very silly first introduction.

"'Kay?" Felix is pretty freaking confused, but okay, he can deal with that. Leona seemed kind of mad about him asking about her family. Fair enough, he shouldn't have asked. She said that they ignored her, so maybe that's why she was so desperate to not be ignored when they first met. His family jumped between being over-attentive to kind of ignoring him too. He could understand why some people might get upset about that.

"And it's fine. I mean, about the book and all that. I don't really know that much about owls. Or anything really. Just random facts and theories. Which, according to the people at my old school, makes me a nerd." he talks quickly, kind of just glad to have someone to talk to right now. Other than the owl, of course. It helps with the boredom. He gets bored pretty easily, or, at least, thinks that he's bored. He decides to think of something else. He reaches up in a familiar action, to adjusts how his cap is sitting on his head, but he's not wearing one right now, so it looks kind of odd.

Leona also picked up a feather, maybe the one that he shook off. Maybe she has a collection or something like that?
