Grey eyes darted upwards towards a dappled canopy above, brows furrowing. There was a moment there, for just a second, that Evelynn thought she'd felt a drop. The sky certainly seemed ambivalent towards the sun. A red canvas had painted promises across the heavens of a beautiful day, one that would allow many hours of peaceful study beyond the confines of the castle where those who yet remained for the holidays seemed to enjoy disrupting the serenity with games and shouts and whatever other nonsense they were up to to pass the time until the rest of the school returned. For most of the morning, that promise had held true. What seemed like only moments ago, she was enjoying the warmth of rays beating down, caressing and easing her into a state of flow. That flow had broken the moment ink had blurred upon her page of notes.

Another cold touch, this time on the back of her hand. And this time, the evidence lingered, an incriminating trail of moisture leading down to curve around to her palm. "Unfortunate..." Exhaling a sigh, Evelynn was forced to shift. Books were hastily snapped shut, writing implements and scrap papers stacked and stashed away. The pile of study material she had gradually collected about her like a wall to ward of interlopers was dismantled, piece by piece, as she stashed it into the dry interior of her enchanted satchel. Not quite everything would follow suit, however. Out from the satchel into which she'd hidden most of her texts, she pulled a black umbrella. Already mostly protected from precipitation by the generous overhanging of foliage above her, not much would be required to fend off any wayward drops that managed to sneak through the leaves or blow in on a breeze. She pulled her collared coat back on, and fished a scarf from her bag.

Then with a quiet, "impervius" to ward off any water from her book, she settled right back in against the tree. As far as she was concerned, the rain was only a temporary set-back. In fact, the more she thought about it, the less it felt like an inconvenience. Her repertoire of spells was expansive enough now for her to easily combat any discomfort brought by a drizzle, and it would be much less likely now that students would wander into the grounds. Plus, the patter of drops upon the stones and roots and lake would only add to the white noise of the background, aiding her focus. She could still make good use of this day.
