Sneaking away with @AngelFyre McCubbin
Simon well welcomed AngelFyre pulling him aside from the Great Key Expedition of Hogwarts that was currently taking place at the Quidditch Training Pitch in order to gain access to this year's Spring Ball, the Magical Masquerade. He was quite sure that the organizers had planned an evening for the students and staff to enjoy but somehow, historically, the school sponsored dances (and other events for that matter) always took a terrible turn in one direction or another; be that humiliation, confusion, mass chaos, or death. So when presented with the opportunity to instead sneak off onto the grounds and snog with his girl, he was going to go snog with his girl and leave the possible humiliation, confusion, mass chaos, and death to others.
This Valentine's Day boy would take love and passion and romance over a scavenger hunt any time! Love, in general, is what this boy would take any time. For him, it was a way of life: not just a feeling but a way of relating to others. All others.
Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never ends.
1 Corinthians 13:4-8a
Love embraces what we need to hold close and love resists what we need to let go in order to not only be at peace with our lives and ourselves, but create a peaceful society around us - whether that is with our loved ones, our friends, our family, our fellow students at Hogwarts, and as citizens of the Earth. Simon Kincaid understood that and he did his best to follow it - he worked on it daily and he prayed on it. It wasn't difficult for him - as he was blessed with an amazing Aunt for foundational support, an invaluable girlfriend, and priceless friends.
He would try his best to always remember that love embraced patience, kindness, truth, resilience, faith, hope, endurance, and perseverance while resisting envy, boasting, arrogance, rudeness, selfishness, anger, resentment, and wrongdoing.
The two kept walking until they came to one of their special places upon the grounds of Hogwarts, a fallen tree that had made a sort of make-shift bench next to the lake. The sun, lower in the sky now, still illuminated the delicate petals of some of the various wildflowers they had planted there for AngelFyre's last year's Earth Day Birthday and Simon smiled, glad to see them succeeding in this special little place. He hoped that each Spring they would bloom for all the years to come.
They were far away from the sounds of the Quidditch Pitch and Quidditch Training Pitch now and would hear nothing but the gentle sounds of soft waves hitting the lake's edge and the sway of the leaves and grass from the breeze. This meant that there was nothing to interrupt their snogging session for quite some time and it wasn't until lack of oxygen was probably getting to them that they stopped and he rested his forehead on hers, his mask tapping hers.
It was then that he pulled back and looked to those sea-blue eyes of hers and wished he could see them more, no matter how beautiful her mask was. Simon reached from behind and slowly guided her mask off her face and set it down on the tree where they sat, then doing the same to his. They needed be masked, in any way, with one another.
He gently caressed his hand down the side of her face, just taking her in. How had he been blessed with someone as absolutely amazing as herself? While he didn't doubt in the slightest her love for him, he still found it quite perplexing that someone so intelligent, so beautiful, that held such an incredible outlook on life would choose him over all else. Simon was ever grateful.
"You know, they say love is like water." He said as he stood, slipping his hand down to take hers into his own as he got up, guiding her to come to the water's edge with him.
"Love is like water. We can fall in it. We can drown in it. And we can't live without it."
Be kind to one another. (*iNPC is Miles Thatcher)
