RAVENCLAW vs. SLYTHERIN - SPRING 2024

BROOM RACING SPECTATOR THREAD
RAVENCLAW vs. SLYTHERIN - Spring 2024
Date: May 6th, 2024
Time: 09:00
Weather: Sunny, unseasonably warm
With the weather finally taking a turn for the better and the days growing longer, there was a palpable sense of anticipation in the air. The sun cresting the horizon illuminated both the grounds and the throngs of students steadily filtering out towards the track.
Avery had to consciously tamp down on the urge to pace as preparations were finalized and fans took to the stands. Today would be the culmination of the season, with the final games to decide just who would be taking home the championship. Coupled with a well deserved, if only momentary, break from the rigorous schoolwork that always came with the end of the school year, there was an unmistakable air of excitement.
Once both teams had assembled, Avery adopted a wide grin and stepped forward. "Welcome, everyone! Racers, please mount your brooms and head to the starting line!" She paused for a moment to allow for both teams to do so. "Best of luck to both teams! On your marks. Ready, set...go!"
This is a spectator thread for the Broom Race. 200 words is still the requirement for all threads. Please remember that you are not able to interface with the players in the race from a spectator thread.

RAVENCLAW vs. SLYTHERIN - SPRING 2024
Tommy picked his seat out in the stands to cheer on his new mentor June and the Slytherin broom racing team. He had predicted Slytherin's win, as he was always sure to do in the future. Eventually, he would be right. This prediction would possibly have implications for this future. He knew he would have to do everything he could to motivate the Slytherin racers and stir them to do their best. Mustering all his courage, he began to chant as loud as he possibly could: "Win win Slytherin". Sure, it was tacky, but it was the best chant he could come up with off the top of his head, and at this point, he knew chanting ANYTHING was better than a silent stand.
Tommy had known the plight of the Slytherin's broom racing team's record in recent matches and was determined to do his best to motivate the team to the best of his capabilities. This match would surely be the end of the losing streak, what every sports fan tells themselves when their team is not doing the best. Fortunately for Tommy, he cheered for Slytherin, which just so happens to BE the best. Knowing this he continued to chant until his voice went coarse "Win win Slytherin". "Win win Slytherin". "Win win Slytherin".

"If it isn't Tommy Patterson," Justin yelled out to the Slytherin boy, walking over with a sandwich. He took a bite out of it. He noticed that Tommy was cheering in the stands for Slytherin.
Win, win, Slytherin is so catchy. It rhymes. Justin thought to himself. What's the Ravenclaw one? I can't remember...
"Uh... Caw caw Ravenclaw..." Justin said with a loud voice. "Hm... am I even saying that right?"
Justin placed his arm on Tommy's shoulder comfortably, as he took another bite out of his sandwich.
Nonchalantly, the boy took out another full sandwich from the inner pocket of his robes, neatly wrapped in parchment paper. He handed the sandwich to Tommy.
"I almost missed the game because I couldn't find the bacon in the kitchen. Had to find an elf," Justin told Tommy, laughing out loud as he took another bite out of his sandwich.
He offered the new sandwich to Tommy. "It's got turkey, bacon, avacodo, and my secret recipe, grilled kimchi from my dad's restaurant. Feeling adventurous?" Justin grinned.
The first-year Ravenclaw glanced around at the race track.
Ravenclaw vs Slytherin. A battle of ambition and intelligence. Who'd win?... Probably intelligence. Justin thought to himself.
He finished his sandwich with a big bite, and without warning, whipped out another one from inside his robes and took a bite.
I wonder if anyone's going to the hospital wing today Justin thought to himself.

RAVENCLAW vs. SLYTHERIN - SPRING 2024
Tommy's throat was already beginning to hurt, and the match had not even started. He could not hide the anxiety within his body. He heard his name called by a familiar voice, "Oh hello @Justin Shin" he replied.
Tommy knew there was no point in hiding his somber mood. "My entire future rides on the fate of this match. I was quick to make a bold prediction, and the consequences of my idiotic antiques may be catching up with me. My entire wizarding career may be over at the ripe age of eleven."
Tommy felt like puking. How would he watch the race when he was so nervous? The closer the match got to starting, the worse it was getting. Tommy then had an idea. If he could convince this Ravenclaw student to make chants against his own house, it could morally destroy the Ravenclaw players. Even if he didn't chant with him, he could make it look like he was chanting at the very least.
"Of course I would love a sandwich. Thank you very kindly, mentor. " Tommy began, this technically was true. He hadn't eaten prior to coming to the match, as he was too afraid of missing even a moment. His stomach growled as he bit into it. The first bite, amazing, the second, amazing but mixed with an unamazing heat. He hadn't known what kimchi was, but he now knew it was S P I C Y.
With tears in his eyes from the heat, Tommy looked at Justin and said "Oh no, that's not the Ravenclaw chant at all. Here just this once. Give me your hand and I'll help you cheer them on". Tommy didn't really give the boy a chance, grabbing his hand and waving it wildly above their heads while he shouted to all his might "Ravenclaw, Ravenclaw, you'll never win, not from Hogwarts to Wichita, your chances are less than thin! "
The aftermath of this Tommy had not considered, but he felt like a chef, cooking with his soul because at the very least he thought he could stir the House Ravenclaw pot. Would other Ravenclaw members get angry at Justin, would a fight break out, would anyone in house Slytherin be angry at him for speaking with the ENEMY (at least for the day)?

RAVENCLAW vs. SLYTHERIN - SPRING 2024
"Is it that spicy?" Justin asked as Tommy's eyes watered up. He nonchalantly continued eating his sandwich.
He then thought Tommy was taunting him in good competitive spirit.
"Oh, we dissing each other's house now? No problem," Justin chuckled. With a loud voice Justin countered Tommy's chant.
"SLITHER SLITHER LITTLE SNAKE
OFF YOUR BROOM INTO THE LAKE.
RAVENCLAW WILL TAKE THE CAKE
I CHECKED YOUR BROOMS, THOSE ARE FAKE."
He then flexed both his biceps and gave a friendly competitive taunt to his unique Slytherin friend with his tongue stuck out.
"Who do you think you're fooling? I played basketball, football, and volleyball growing up. You can't fool me into dissing my own team," Justin said, as he placed an arm around Tommy's shoulder. "You know anyone down there?" Justin asked.
He then noticed the cheering in the crowd today was a little dry. Where was the team spirit? The boy got up to address the Ravenclaw spectators.
"Let's step up our game! We kinda weak right now!" Justin yelled to the crowd.
"Ravenclaw, Ravenclaw, Ravenclaw," Justin began chanting. He then added some live beats to enhance the cheer. The three syllables of Ravenclaw were matched with two stomps and a clap, in that exact order. The stands thundered alone, with Justin's chant. He smirked. If he was this loud... imagine if the other Ravenclaws joined...

RAVENCLAW vs. SLYTHERIN - SPRING 2024
Tommy could not hide his confusion. He paused in silence for a moment, almost dropping his sandwich. "Are you... Are you feeling okay?" Nothing the boy had said made any sense. What was a diss? He had never heard of it. What was basketball, football, and volleyball? Tommy almost pitied the boy at this moment. Maybe not everyone could be a naturally gifted liar, but he had thought people his age could at least know to stick to reality when lying and not make believe words that held no meaning among wizards.
In almost a dazed state, Tommy realized he had almost forgotten to answer. "No, I don't know anyone playing today, at least not yet. Thank you for the distraction, but I am sorry I think you do not realize the extent to which this race will shape my fate. I bid you goodbye and bad luck @Justin Shin."
It was harsh, but Tommy was in no mood for jokes. That and he felt ridiculed by the boy making up such foolish things, especially since Tommy had clearly told him already that his fate hinged on the result of this match. Maybe the boy was just another kid like those in his neighbourhood?
This was no time for mere games and jokes. It was as Tommy had claimed it to be 'Doom Spiraling Season'.

She picked a summer outfit not to flashy but enough to make her feel good about it, and started putting on the Ravenclaw scarf but decided not to since it looked weird with her outfit.
Brooke headed out to the Outdoor Club Area outside and walked towards the stands. The Race was already started, she must of woken up late or was to long picking out a gosh-darned outift. Shit, she thought to herself as she walked up the steps to the seats of the stands.
Brooke saw her friend Justin talking to a guy she had never seen before. Ok, maybe in the corridors but never spoke to the guy. Justin saw chanting. She chuckled. Justin was just like that.
“Hey Justy, who's your friend? ” Brooke asked when she reached Justin, beaming with her usual golden specks in her pretty dark blue eyes. She smiled at the boy who was talking to Justin.
As the pretty Ravenclaw girl waited for Justin's answer, Brooke looked out to the race, seeing some Ravenclaw and Slytherin robes blurring through some brown blurs which what she guessed was beautiful polished brooms.
“Lets go, Ravenclaw!” Brooke yelled as she looked at the race. She turned back to the boys, smiling.Word Count: 231 / 200

RAVENCLAW vs. SLYTHERIN - SPRING 2024
Justin noticed Tommy become pouty and upset as the Korean boy cheered for Ravenclaw. Selfish little shit, Justin chuckled to himself. He thinks he's a master manipulator, and gets really upset when it doesn't work. Thank goodness, he's kind of an idiot. He'd actually be a little super villain if he was just a teeny bit more people-smart.
Justin saw Brooke in the stands and a smile formed that stretched from one jaw to another. He waved at Brooke excitedly.
"Well if it isn't the Tiger Queen herself, Brookie Quinn," Justin called out. He grabbed the pouty Tommy and put his arms around the Slytherin's shoulder. "Pouty over here is Tommy. He calls me his mentor? Something like that. He's a little upset that I didn't chant against Ravenclaw... even though I am Ravenclaw. Isn't he hilarious?" Justin chuckles heartily. "Tommy, this is Brookie. Don't let her sweet little appearance fool ya. She'll kick your ass if you test her," Justin laughed again.
Justin sighed as his eyes looked down at the racers who were about to start.
"Remember sneaking out to the brooms after the Black Lake? That was something else," Justin asked Brooke softly, feeling slightly nostalgic. "Can't believe first-year is almost over. How you two feeling? We're going to be second-years soon..."
Justin observed the racers impatiently as the race was about to begin. "They're taking their sweet ass time. Move those brooms, we've been here for days," Justin exaggerated.

RAVENCLAW vs. SLYTHERIN - SPRING 2024
"Hello uh... Brookie?" Tommy said in more of a question than a statement. He looked at the girl and for all he could tell, she was not a tiger, but perhaps she was royalty. Tommy had begun to notice that every interaction with Justin was always a little... odd. Tommy picked up on the fact that Justin had little to no emotional intelligence. He had practically spelled out for him that he was upset, but he continued to mock him. Behaviour unfitting of anyone worth speaking to.
Tommy knew better than to judge others based on who they interact with. He greet 'Brookie' with a smile and said "My name is Tommy Patterson, I'm a seer, I made a prediction about this game and put my entire reputation on the line with an upperclassman about the prediction. Some people (Tommy eyed towards Justin) cannot have empathy for others."
Tommy left it at this, trying to remain somewhat friendly to the boy. Tommy did not begin to go into how stupid and foolish it was for the boy to tell the racers to hurry up. If he were any better than any of them, then he should be in the broom race and not them. He had started insulting his own house by telling them they took days to race after saying he wouldn't chant against his own house. Tommy was almost shocked by his behaviour. Sure, Tommy was naïve, but he was not stupid and could at least say something and not contradict it within a minute.

Would she though? That's the question. I might kick Justy’s ass if he keeps this up, Brooke thought grimly.
When Brooke heard Tommy call her ‘Brookie’, she just laughed. Only her baby brother Cash and Justin ever called her ‘Brookie’. “Tommy, yeh can call me by my real name, Brookline, Justy, over here, he likes just to call me Brookie. And Seer yeh are, hmm? Well, can yeh tell the future?” Brooke giggled as her Welsh accent was thick but cheerful.
“Well, there's no need to play the blame game, Justy does have empathy, if he doesn't, how the hell is that Andy @Andy Loggins and I are his friends? ” The pretty Ravenclaw girl giggled as she spoke. Her Welsh accent was fierce and thick.
Brooke giggled at Justin's words. “Will I ever? And shut up! They can hear yeh, don't yeh know?” She teased Justin, amusement and golden sparkles danced wildly in the dark blue pools of her eyes. A thought ran through her mind before she could stop it: Isn’t it the Great Lake?
“Damn it, I forgot about that, don’t remind me,” The Ravenclaw girl spoke quietly then a bit sharply.
“They have! Uggghhh... Tommy, your a seer, can't yeh tell when they go?” Brooke turned her head to the now silent boy as she sat down, without warning, about a few or more inches away from Justin. But without warning once again, she stood up again, impatiently pacing the stands.
Her arms were crossed as Brooke paced up and down. “Damn it, Ravenclaw better win, they better,” She muttered to herself as she sat down where she was.
