Soliloquy
open for interaction from anyone
At the top of Hogwarts' west tower lay the owlery, a place not for the faint of heart. With the risk of droppings on your robes, the chill from the lack of windows, and the pervasive smell, it took an acquired taste to appreciate it. Yet for Theo, there was something special here that made enduring those discomforts worthwhile: his great horned owl, Lightoller. The bird never judged, lied, or tried to deceive him; instead, it offered unwavering companionship and a listening ear. That's what Theo admired most about animals, their innate purity and innocence, free from the complexities of human deceit.
Perched in an alcove on the second level of the owlery, the boy found refuge from the potential hazard of owl droppings. Lightoller, his great horned owl, occupied a nearby platform, fixating on Theo with its piercing yellow gaze. Despite the warmth of April, a chill pervaded the air, visible in Theo's breath as he attempted to compose a letter while chatting with his avian companion.
"Remember that Hufflepuff girl I mentioned? The one who nearly got me nicked in the trophy room? Well, she's on the ball planning committee with me. Small world, huh?" Theo searched for every excuse to avoid writing a letter to his parents. The owl gave him an indifferent look, prompting him to imagine its response. "I am staying out of her way. Ball planning is a girl thing anyway, and she's a girl." he remarked with a small smile, before returning to his parchment to jot down the date in black ink.
Lightoller hooted aloud, diverting Theo's attention once more. "What?" he asked the owl, as if expecting a clear response. Following the owl's gaze, Theo spotted a box of owl treats protruding from his robe pocket. "Oh, I see. Won't keep me company for free, eh? Tsk," he remarked, offering Lightoller a treat, which the bird quickly gobbled up. While Lightoller ate, Theo gently pet the bird with his index finger, feeling his soft feathers. With a half smile on his face, he spoke softly. "Don’t let any of the other owls pick on you. Grow strong, show them who’s boss," he said, perhaps with a double meaning as he could have also been talking about himself.

Soliloquy
Minnie had an owl she wanted to send to her friend Izzy who was 10 and turning 11 next year. She had realized how much she missed her during spring break and wanted to keep in contact, especially about the broom situation here and there. She stretched and started walking, wondering why she didn't get an owl. But she didn't ponder it long, not really caring too much.
When she reached the owlery, she saw a boy talking to an owl. She recognized him as someone also on the ball planning committee, but she didn't really know his name. She coughed slightly to let him know she was there, and then took a step forward so that they could talk properly.
"Hello, I'm Minnie from the ball planning. I...forget your name-sorry! And I'm here to deliver a letter to my friend from home. She's only 10." She smiled politely and extended her hand, wanting to know more about the boy who she didn't know. She walked over to the owl, looking at it with awe. It was super cute after all. "Is this your owl? Because it is so cute and beautiful!" Minnie smiled at it and waited for the boy to respond.

Elizabeth was dreading her visit to the owlery partly because she had received news of her cousin's death from pneumonia a few days ago. Her parents had told her to write to her aunt, in an attempt to console her about the loss. She had never seen her cousin so she didn't know what the point was. But she wrote the letter on her parents behalf.
As she opened the door, she heard someone say, "...beautiful!" so she assumed that there were people talking upstairs. She then coaxed an owl onto her extended arm, clumsily attached the letter, and then walked to the window. Seeing the sky so lovely, she decided that she would go to the top to watch it more.
As she climbed to the 2nd level, she saw two first-years, not in her house, talking to each other. Or at least it seemed like it. With a quick, "Hello there," she moved to the stairs that led to the rooftop. Glancing back, she could see that they were standing there awkwardly, "I'll be up here if you want to talk." She said and hurried up the steps, not wanting to miss a single moment of the lovely sky.

Dear Aunt,
I am sorry about your loss. Even though I never met my cousin in person, she must have been a kind, loving girl. Hoping that you recover from the loss but always remember her.

Theo turned his head quickly at the sound of someone coughing, as if startled. Inhaling sharply, he then said, "Oh, it's you." Perhaps not intending to sound rude, but it came out that way. He listened for a moment as she stated her intentions and then glanced at her outstretched hand. Clearing his throat, he waved his open palms in the air. "Best we not shake. I've been handling my owl without gloves," Theo said, although his hands appeared perfectly clean.
"My name is Theo and this is my great horned owl, Lightoller."
"He is very stunning. I wish I had yellow piercing eyes like him. Perhaps one day. I doubt my opinion will change, but when I become a fifth year, the first thing I’m going to do is study to become an animagus owl," he continued, regardless of whether Minnie was interested in hearing or not. "Did you know they have soundless flight? Unique amongst birds of prey. You could almost say they are magically gifted animals." As he spoke, it was obvious he had a lot of passion for owls. He was looking more at his owl Lightoller as he spoke than he looked at Minnie.
It was at this moment that Elizabeth walked in, and Theo peered over Minnie's shoulder at her briefly as she greeted them. Theo just made a small grunt of acknowledgement and watched her continue up the tower before his head turned back to Minnie."What about you? I know it’s four years off for us, but have you considered what animal you have a deep connection with? Or is transfiguration not your forte?" He asked with a slight smile on his lips as he folded up the half-written letter and stuck the parchment in his bag.

@Elizabeth Stonewall, Minnie Duke, Theo VenderbergQuinn couldn't take it anymore. Her sister would definetly know how to deal with her situation. Or at least help. She wanted so much more then what she had but in a way less. With the ball planning and dress buying, life was just to complicated. Hopefully he would just stay out of it until she figured out how to deal. Quinn sealed up her letter and pulled on her boots. A quick lace up and she was off. Luckily the treck wasn't too long seeing as her common room was fairly close. Quinn opened the door and gasped in suprise. Another ravenclaw was finding an owl and Minnie was there, talking to... Theodore? Quinn wondered. She didn't really know how to feel about him, they had started off rocky and he wasn't too helpful during ball planning sessions but he did at least earn his spot there. Quinn took a deep breath as she walked into the room.
"Geez, are all the ball planners sending letters now?" Quinn said. Quinn forced a smile on her face. I sound so stupid right now. Quinn thought. Quinn resisted the urge to tug on her hair and focused on finding an owl. She really hoped that the two were not currently staring at her like she was an idiot. Or the ravenclaw girl.
