Making Friends in the Great Lake

It was a peaceful, quiet beautiful place, with the icy cold water flowing over the space beyond. As her parents had both attended Hogwarts, she heard many stories about it. Sometimes, her wonderful parents would tell her about some fascinating creatures hat live in the heart of the lake. She had been told that the giant squid, a monstrous creature, lives there.
As she sat on the grounds near the Great Lake, where she could lay undisturbed, under the clear, cool sky with little gusts of wind here and there, which was leaving leaves nearby to shake a little, her mind drifted off to wonder about the magical creatures that may or may not lay beyond, what they were, their looks, their personalities, all mysterious and hidden from the eyes of hers.
Though she rather liked her house’s common room, its atmosphere was entirely different, but she liked both all the same. Of course, the sweet scent of home and happy chattering was awesome, but so was the peaceful, undisturbed air of the Great Lake.
Suddenly, a sound of movement rang out through the still air of the Great Lake. Although she had preferred the still atmosphere of the Great Lake, another Hogwarts student entering it will also be quite good. She also wanted to meet students of another house, but just didn’t know where she could gather a place and meet. So, she seized her chance and went over to her. Walking closer, she noticed that it was a pretty girl with brown hair and green robes, and Giselle recognised it once as a Slytherin.
‘Hi!’ she said brightly to the girl. ‘I’m Giselle, nice to meet you.’ ‘Have you heard that there’s a giant squid in the water?’ she asked, patiently waiting for the girl to reply.

Thoughts: italicsKaitlyn loved to hang around outside for as much as she could potentially stomach. The Slytherin Common Room was already on the cooler side. She was already used to that, so she didn’t feel the chill outside nearly as much, as she did previously. To be honest, she really loved the look of the lake from underwater that the Slytherin Common Room offered. She had plenty of drawings of this view, and she enjoyed every minute of staring at the murky waters.
Just as much fun as it was to sketch the lake’s murky waters from underwater, Kaitlyn enjoyed relaxing by the lake. Drawing it, sitting by the edge with her feet in it, skipping rocks on it, and if she was feeling adventurous, swimming in it. For today, however, she wanted to sit by the shore, staring out at the water, and just let her mind wander.
Kaitlyn left the castle, skipping down the pathway towards the lake. She wore her Slytherin robes over a mint green tank top, a black skirt, and black sandals. As she approached the lake, she noticed a girl sitting by the lake. But, as she got closer, the girl stood up to greet her. “H-hi!” Kaitlyn greeted her, startled that the girl would break the tranquility of the moment just to greet her. “I-it’s nice t-to meet y-you too, Giselle. I’m Kaitlyn,” she replied.
Hearing Giselle’s words about a squid in the lake, Kaitlyn’s blue eyes grew wide. “R-really? No, I d-didn’t know t-that … I see c-creatures in the water f-from my Common Room, b-but I haven’t n-noticed a squid …” she recalled off the top of her mind. “W-where did you h-hear that f-from?” She asked, curiously.Reducio

Finally, she decided against it, so she tried to change the subject. ‘Well, there are also a lot of other creatures here!’ she said earnestly. Like mermans. They are highly dan—’ Giselle at first wanted to say ‘dangerous’ but looking at the terrified look on Kaitlyn’s face, she stopped. ‘Sorry, I shouldn’t have said that,’ she said. Kaitlyn’s face brightened. ‘No need to apologise, it’s perfectly fine.’
Suddenly, a small breeze of wind blew through both the girls’ cheeks, making them both feel pretty comfortable. ‘The Great Lake has a nice weather today, don’t you think?’ asked Giselle. Kaitlyn smiled. ‘Sure, it is.’ It seemed as though the two girls was starting to create a bond between them.

Thoughts: italicsHearing Giselle’s explanation of the squid in the lake, Kaitlyn glanced out at the water’s rippling surface, before looking back over at Giselle. ‘A friendly and helpful squid? Not the adjectives I would think would apply to a squid,’ she thought. But, the smile Giselle gave underlined the fact that this was apparently true. Although, in a world where magic existed, it wasn’t the most farfetched she had heard. “Um, the s-squid is friendly and helpful? I-in what way?” She asked, stuttering in surprise.
Kaitlyn tilted her head at the mention of mermans in the lake. Similar to the squid, this also sounded weird to the muggle-born girl, but it was apparently normal here. ‘Perhaps I should watch the lake through the window in my Common Room more,’ she thought. “What makes the mermans dangerous, but not the squid?” she asked, confused with the logic. ‘With magic, it often defies my logical sense,’ she thought.
Turning to look out at the lake again, Kaitlyn smiled at Giselle’s mention of the weather and she nodded her head in agreement. “It is. Kind of like a relaxing quality to it,” she observed with a short laugh. “Do you come out here to the lake often? I have a few times already,” she admitted.Reducio

Kaitlyn smiled. Beyond her dreams, she had never thought that looking in the lake anywhere she pleased was possible! ‘I’ve never been to the Slytherin common room before, of course, but you can actually see the depths of the lake there? How fascinating!’ she said. I wish I could see it too, she thought. ‘Is it cold there? Are you actually underwater?’ asked Giselle.
Kaitlyn nodded. ‘Why is the squid friendly and helpful?’ she asked again. ‘True, true, I haven’t answered that one.’ ‘Have you heard of Viktor Krum, the international quidditch player? And the triwizard tournament?’ She continued, ‘Well, in the second round of the triwizard tournament, Viktor Krum had been attacked by grindylows, the giant squid help him.’ My father’s work partner had been at hogwarts that time, and he told him about it.’ Her father had came back home very happily one day, and saying that he had discovered what happened at the triwizard tournament before. She was not sure whether she should trust him for that, because he wasn’t the best listener in the world. But as she saw how curious Kaitlyn was, she decided to tell her. ‘Well, there were rumours about that,’ said Giselle, hoping wholeheartedly that that was true.
