Kaitlyn skipped out of the castle, carrying her satchel with a towel in it. She was dressed in a mint green tank top, black leggings, and black flip-flops. Her brunette hair was tied back in a messy ponytail. The young Slytherin was well aware of the rules. They were not supposed to be swimming in the lake without permission. To her, that rule felt a little silly, right? As long as she did not approach any of the creatures in the lake, she was unlikely to get hurt. Despite just being twelve years old, she figured that it should be pretty safe for her.

Just to be safe, Kaitlyn dropped her bag near a bush and kicked off her flip-flops. She was about to jump into the lake when she noticed a familiar face from her house. She smiled at Mia, and waved at the fellow Slytherin. She quickly jumped into the lake without a second thought. Not wanting to shout to attract unwanted attention, she swam out to the other Slytherin girl. “Hi” She greeted her quietly. “W-we have t-the s-same i-idea, huh?” She volunteered as she kept herself a float next to the other girl. ‘I hope we don’t attract attention from this. Despite the chill in the air, the water isn’t that cold,’ she thought.

Noah walked over to the two girls. "You girls are swimming too?" he asked. He was completely aware of the fact that he was about to break a rule. But he didn't care. He had broken so many rules since he started attending Hogwarts. It wouldn't make much of a difference.

Noah took off his shoes and went into the water. It was a little chilly at first. Then he had an idea. I'm going to splash them with water! he thought. He put his hands underwater and pushed them up forcefully, scattering water droplets everywhere. "Sorry, I got bored." he admitted. He decided to change the subject. "Do you guys ever feel like you don't belong at Hogwarts?" he asked. He felt a little homesick ever since he arrived. There was a lot to deal with; homework, making friends, spell practicing, and more homework! It was like it was at his home, except there was a lot less to do. Yet he still had trouble making friends and that's why he felt that way. He was always bombarded with questions about the exact stance to be able to cast the Unlocking Charm, or what and how many properties a bezoar has. He waited for their answers reluctantly. He wished he hadn't even asked that question. It was so stupid to say now that he thought about it. He wished he could Apparate away on the spot, or be dragged underwater by the giant squid.

Mia looked at her acquaintances, not even minding the cold water as it nipped at her skin. The boy asked a rather difficult question. "Well,...no. I sometimes feel like I want to leave or hide, but this is like home to me now." Mia looked down under the water and acted sad then pushed her hands up with all her might making a wall of water crash into the boy. Mia started laughing. "That's payback!" She started laughing so hard they she lost her balance in the water for a moment and got water up her nose. She quickly righted herself and tried to stop laughing. She noticed she probably splashed Kaitlyn when she was splashing the new boy, and when she looked over she noticed she had. She looked at the boy and noticed that she had never meet him before, so she didn't know his name. "My name is Mia, who are you?" She knew he was a Slytherin, because she saw him in the common room once and a while. She hadn't meant to sound rude but she still felt like she was. "Sorry." The corners of her mouth crept up into a small smile as she got ready to splash them again.

Kaitlyn looked up and giggled when a boy that she could have sworn was from their house joined her and Mia in the lake. ‘A group of Slytherins together swimming in the lake. What are the odds?’ She was immediately splashed with water, shortly after he entered the water. “Oh, t-thanks,” she giggled in a mock offended tone. She playfully splashed him back. “Sometimes. I f-feel like I’ve gotten better … I’m more worried a-about doing well here. I feel behind,” she admitted. It was not a feeling she ever felt before, and it frankly scared her.

Nodding, Kaitlyn gave Mia a sympathetic smile. “I feel like t-that, too. I hide out h-here … or in the dorm … or the library a l-lot,” she admitted. It didn’t really matter to her if anyone else knew where to find her. Quite frankly, her friends likely knew to look for her in those spots anyway.

Kaitlyn giggled, as Mia splashed her. She splashed Mia back with a playful smile. Oh, and Mia introduced herself, making Kaitlyn think she was rude by not doing so already. With a light flush on her cheeks, she turned toward the boy. “My n-name is Kaitlyn,” she provided with a small, shy smile. She always assumed that she didn’t stand out in their common room, but she had no idea what her fellow housemates thought of her. She was a shy muggle-born Slytherin, more specifically.

"I'm Noah. Noah Baldridge. Nice to meet you two." he said with a small wave and a warm, charming smile. Noah thought these girls were very kind and welcoming. Ever since Noah started at Hogwarts, he had been lonely. He always had trouble making new friends and was even shy to ask to be friends with someone, no matter how confident he always sounded.

After spending most of his time in his dormitory, Noah thought it would be nice to go out and have fun. He never realized he would end up finding other friends while doing it. That was the last thing he had expected. The three kids had a lot in common. They broke a lot of rules, they had trouble making friends, and now here they were, together swimming in a lake. These thoughts made him smile. Noah thought that this was destiny or a miracle. He actually felt that he was welcomed. Gosh, he felt alive! He made some buddies. He wondered what his mum would feel if she was still alive. And then Noah realized there was a tear running down his cheek. He quickly wiped it off before anyone could notice. He was silent for a bit while the other girls chatted and laughed. Then one of them realized.
