Koko had been wanting to do this for a while ─ ever since their last game, really. Sure, the team practised often, but it was rare that they had something like this planned. Koko had stayed up late night after night, poring over ideas and scribbling down whatever came into her mind, and what she had ultimately come up with was simple enough. She had decided on a semi-organised practice, with people practising whatever they needed to work on the most, within reason.

Thus, on the morning of the 16th of March, Koko had set up several ‘stations’, each focused on specific positions. Chasers and Keepers could share a spot, since both roles focused on the Quaffle, but everyone else had their own. Of course, collaboration was important, and as more people arrived, Koko would work to ensure that the team knew this. ‘Feel free to work with each other,’ she would say when more people arrived.

Once a sizeable number of people had trickled in, Koko would offer smiles to them and begin to explain the scheme:

'Hello everyone! I thought it might be prudent to have a Quidditch training session rather than just practice. I know we did really well in our last game ─ congratulations, everyone ─ but to win against Hufflepuff and get Slytherin the Quidditch Cup, we'll have to be at our best

'If you'd prefer to work with the Snitch, you can practise finding and catching it. If you'd rather go for the Quaffle or block it, that's also an option. You can bludger... or I guess you can do fouls if you really think you need to.'

School brooms were available for those who needed them, and Koko had brought her Silver Arrow in case anyone wanted to use it OOC ─ feel free to reach out and ask. She had brought her Oakshaft 79, which she was still too nervous to use in a real game, for herself just in case someone wanted to train with her. She didn’t trust herself not to break or otherwise accidentally harm the antique broom, but she hoped she would earn that trust today.

Addressing the team once again, she would say, 'If you have any questions, feel free to ask! And most importantly, have fun.'

This is a Quidditch practice thread! Feel free to take a moderated or unmoderated action, but please state it clearly in your post, and please also clearly state your preference as to whether you’d like it to be moderated or unmoderated. Options are below. You can owl or DM me asking for Koko to stand in to help you with something.

If you want extra moderated difficulty or different/more actions, feel free to reach out and let me know, or please state so in your post! I can up the Snitch DC and blame an environmental factor, stuff like that. If you have an idea, feel free to reach out!

Moderations will likely be happening weekly. Tentative deadline is 2 May at 01:21 UTC.

Please include your stats, abilities and broom used in each post alongside your action for that round.

Find the Snitch - Koko or your character will release a golden Snitch. I’ll roll for it as I would moderate a Quidditch game - keen eye, d10. Wisdom roll, d20, DC found by taking the lowest wisdom of everyone searching and adding 15.

Catch the Snitch - Accuracy check taking the lowest accuracy of everyone catching and adding 15 for the DC. Will roll a d20 and add your accuracy modifier plus broom stats, if applicable.

Quaffle Grab (and score/pass) - Accuracy check against everyone going for the Quaffle. Rolled as a d20 plus any modifiers. If someone is defending the goals, you will have an accuracy check against them if you are scoring.

Hawkshead Attacking Formation - Requires 3 Chasers. Same mechanics as Quaffle Grab but attacks on you + your chaser buddies will be at disadvantage.

Fouls - e.g. Blatching, Haversacking, Snitchnipping, Pincering… Will be IC looked down upon (jokingly) but will be rolled for as one would roll for them in a game. The team's average wisdom + 15 will be the cheat DC. You will not have to do a penalty lap, but please make sure if you’re blatching/pincering/cobbing that your target is OOC okay with it.

Block - Accuracy check against anyone scoring. Keeper’s catch and Veela’s alluring are applicable. d20 plus/minus any modifiers (accuracy, muggle condition, charmer, etc).

Bludger/Backbeat/Dopplebeater (specify) - Accuracy v Evasion of your target. Terrible presence/unsettling aura/calming presence/evasive maneuvers/Veela alluring/seer auto-dodge/auto-hit are all applicable and will be rolled for with d10s. Accuracy and evasion are d20s plus modifiers. Will calculate for damage based on stats and action taken. Please also ensure that your target is OOC okay with this. Koko (and maybe others, if you want) can use Reparifors if need be.

Percival walked towards the Quidditch Training Pitch a little lighter than usual. His firebolt was held tightly in his left hand, and his beater bat was thrown over his right shoulder. Carrying both in tandem as he made his way over to where Riddle stood. After such a successful win, it was hard to not feel good. Not much paled in comparison to watching their red-coated enemies fall from the sky like recently swatted flies. A smirk wormed its way across his face, and he had done all the swatting. It felt like a rush of fresh air.

Looking around the pitch he took in the different stations set up around the pitch. It was rather clear they were more than likely going to be running drills that were specific to their position. Not that he didn't mind, even though he made first string there was no need to get lazy. Percival placed his broom on the ground, letting the handle lean against his shoulder as he listened to Riddle speak. A smile would bloom across his face at the praise though would quickly fall at the mention of their upcoming game. Right... he'd forgotten about the puffs. To beat them would mean using everything in their arsenal. A formidable opponent that would do everything in its power to destroy them. A frown wormed its way to his face as he gripped his bat a little tighter. That wouldn't happen, not if he had anything to say about it.

1. In the role of Beater, if you hit an opponent with a bludger the bludger will then ricochet off that user and target a second opponent of choice (must be declared, if not declared the target will be random and can be an ally but not yourself).

2. In the role of Beater, if an ALLY dodges a bludger during the round, there is a 20% chance that you catch that bludger with your bat and you send it at a RANDOM enemy target.

"I doubt you'll remember me with a smile."

Dan smiled as he walked toward the Quidditch Pitch. Well, the training pitch. The team, HIS team, were gathering to train, officially.
He didn't know how many would show up for it, but so long as even 2 were there, he would consider it a success. After their utterly incredible game against Gryffindor -OH how they'd stomped them- His co-captain Koko Riddle had forwarded the idea of a training date. All the better to ensure Hufflepuff's defeat.
It wasn't terribly likely that they would lose the cup even if they lost to Hufflepuff, but the best way to ensure victory is always to make sure there were no variables.
Hufflepuff wouldn't go down nearly as easily as Gryffindor did, he was sure. Unless they actually somehow did, which would be awesome; But Dan knew that wasn't likely. Therefore, they needed training.

If they pulled this off, they would have won every match this season. Dan's heart soared at the thought. A flawless Quidditch season!
He would ensure that there would be a party in Slytherin unlike anything Hogwarts had seen in a House since those Weasley twins left. Of course, he planned on doing that anyway if they took the Cup. That would probably call for an even bigger celebration.

Upon his arrival, he mounted his trusty Firebolt and took to the skies, releasing a snitch to track.
He just LOVED being in the air! How could he ever have been that scared 11 year old stuck terrified in a tree? The air was truly where he belonged, preferably at very high speeds.

"How's it goin', Cobras? Ye feelin' like takin' the Cup this year?!"
