Mistakes Can Be Good
Alex crossed his arms and smiled as Ruka began his take off. It was clumsy, but that was okay for starting. He noted the fact that his split wasn’t wide enough, which was okay. It didn’t need to be that wide, it was just Alex had more experience in that element. His eyes widened as Ruka landed on his ankle and fell. He ran over and kneeled down, worried. He gently grabbed his ankle to look at it, making sure he didn’t break or sprain it. ”Are you okay? That looked painful,” he said. There wasn’t visible swelling, but that could change. He let go. Maybe he shouldn’t have started with that. He felt horrible. He nodded a bit. ”Practice doesn’t make it perfect, but it will help. I would start with smaller leaps and make your way up higher until you get to a grand jete,” he said with a small smile. His cheeks went pink. ”Thanks,” he said as Ruka stood up. He had a worried expression as Ruka seemed to wince when he got up. ”I think it’s a good idea if we try something else that doesn’t hurt your ankle, that look painful. Or we can stop here for today if you’d like. And again practice. You need to try to use your legs as much as possible.” he said.

Mistakes Can Be Good
Ruka felt his cheeks flushing a bright red when Alex knelt down to check he was okay.
It felt kind of nice, in a way, to have someone care for his wellbeing that way. Aside from Donny he really hadn't met anybody else who cared for him like that.
He smiled lightly, eyes focused on Alex' every move, his skin feeling strangely sensitive under the other boy's touch, but he put it down to the slight injury. "It's alright," he said with a little shrug like it didn't really matter. He didn't want to seem like a cry baby in front of Alex, of course, but he didn't hurt all that much either. Just a little sprain. "I've had much worse." He chuckled before nodding as Alex suggested he should work his way up to higher leaps instead of trying to go all the way from the start. That sounded logical, now that he thought about it, but in the moment he had just wanted to be perfect at it from the start.
As he got up he could see the concerned look on Alex' face and he almost wanted to just hug the other boy out of sheer gratefulness. That, exactly, was the reason he almost felt a little panicked when Alex suggested stopping there for now.
Stopping would mean them parting ways, and Ruka was having way too good a time in his new friend's company. "It's fine, I'd love to try something else," he assured Alex with a smile, stretching down to put his hands around his ankles as if to feel for himself again that there was no swelling. "Really, I'm having too good a time to stop now!"

Mistakes Can Be Good
Alex met Ruka’s eyes. He seemed to have a flush on his face. Is he okay? Maybe it was from pain. He retracted his fingers from his ankle. ”Are you sure you’re alright? It looked painful,” he said quietly. He usually said he was alright when he really wasn’t, so he didn’t know if that was the case. He sighed and slowly stood up. He hoped it wasn’t hurting too bad. Alex chuckled. ”Just because you’ve had worse doesn’t mean that it’s not painful,” he said with a small smile, a worried expression still under it. He nodded after he said he wanted to keep going. ”Alright, but when this is over I want you to take care of your ankle. Deal?” he said. He tapped his chin. Since his ankle wasn’t in amazing shape, maybe they should do pirouettes. Yeah, that sounded good. ”Alright, so the next thing is pirouettes. These you start in fourth position and use your arms for spinning force while also using your leg so we start like this,” he said while in the starting position, Then bring your foot up and spin. And again, it’s okay if you don’t get it on the first try,” he said. He demonstrated it then stepped aside to let Ruka do it.

Mistakes Can Be Good
Ruka kept smiling; he couldn't help it when Alex was so sweet about being concerned. It was nice, and not even his throbbing ankle could dim the feeling of being cared for.
"It's not too painful," he guaranteed with a little nod, putting some weight on his ankle without wincing to show that it was alright. He chuckled lightly when Alex made him swear to take care of himself once they were done here, and he reached out a hand to shake the other boy's. "Deal," he promised before taking a small step back to let Alex show him what they were going to do next.
Pirouettes were something he wasn't too unfamiliar with; His dad usually used a lot of spins and turns in his performances, and while what Alex was doing was far more technical, Ruka felt like he shouldn't be making a complete fool of himself with this.
He put himself into the right starting position, chin up, eyes fixing on a specific spot on the wall. He concentrated on mimicking Alex's arm position, making sure his back was straight, his neck not bent in any angle. He took a deep breath, then started his first attempt; he bent his knee as he lifted his foot off the ground, used his arms for momentum and spun on the ball of his foot.
He felt relatively confident as he came to a halt again, before realising that he stopped his pirouette a little too soon, that he had not spun a full circle. "Damn," he muttered, immediately going for a second attempt. He knew he was able to do it; he was light and able to do multiple spins the way he learned them from his dad, and this wasn't that much different, right?
With his second attempt he came to a halt after a full spin, grinning from ear to ear. "Yes!" he cheered, skipping towards Alex with a smile, hissing only for a second when he put a little too much weight on his ankle. "That wasn't too bad, right?" he asked brightly. He knew his pirouette had probably still looked a bit clumsy, but for his first try he felt like he didn't do too bad.

Alex smiled, still worried. ”Well, Alright. Please don’t push yourself, tell me if it hurts,” he said, putting a hand on his shoulder for a brief moment. He really didn’t was Ruka to hurt himself further. It was okay to push yourself, but you shouldn’t push yourself too far. He smirked slightly as Ruka shook his hand. ”You’d better keep up to that promise or I will come after you with an ice pack,” he said with a chuckle. His eyes sharpened as Ruka started to try the pirouettes. He crossed his arms. When it came to dance, Alex was a tough teacher, kind of like how his mom was. He flashed back to when he reached 6 years old his mom went harder on him. ”No son, back straighter, like a ruler,” he heard his mom say in his head. He smiled slightly and focused back onto Ruka. He nodded slightly at the first attempt. He was getting stuff down a lot faster with this than the grand jete. On the second attempt he got it right and he smiled and clapped. ”That was actually good for your first time! It needs a bit of cleaning up, yes, and once that’s down it will look easy, I promise,” he said with a smile.

Ruka couldn't help but laugh at Alex' threat, eyes twinkling in amusement. "At least that way I'd be sure to see you again," he said, sounding a lot bolder than he actually felt. He could feel a blush heating his cheeks again and he quickly looked down to the ground, unsure of why exactly he was behaving this awkwardly.
It didn't matter for now, though. For now he was just trying to learn some basics of ballet and spend some time with his new friend. No time to dwell on why his brain and stomach were behaving weirdly all of a sudden.
When he managed to get his pirouette down without any grave mistakes, he beamed at Alex, a toothy grin on his face as he performed a little victory dance.
Just as he wanted to do a little skip, he put a little too much pressure on his hurt ankel, and he needed to quickly stabilise himself on Alex' shoulder, his grin wavinh for only a moment before he had straightened up again. "Maybe it is a bit too bad to continue," he admitted, bending down a bit to give his ankle a quick rub. It wasn't too sensitive to his touch but he could now feel a pulsing sensation whichever way he moved it, and he took it as a sign to stop before it got worse.
He looked at Alex with a little bit of a sad smile, not wanting to part ways just yet. "But maybe... maybe I could watch you practice a bit? If you don't mind? I really don't feel like going back to the Common Room just yet, so... I'd really like to watch you dance some more!"

Mistakes Can Be Good
Alex’s eyes widened a little at Ruka’s bold remark. He smiled sheepishly. He wanted to see him again? Well, that was a good sign, right? Yeah, that seemed beneficial. He felt his cheeks get warm and he turned away before Ruka could notice. Really Alex? It probably was nothing, it was just suddenly warmer in here. He shook that out of his head as his cheeks were starting to cool down. He watched as Ruka practiced the pirouette with a small smile and his arms crossed. He was doing really good. He was glad that he was so keen on learning ballet. It had been a while since he did something like this with someone. He clapped when Ruka got it down. He blushed and chuckled a little at the smile and the happy dance. Ruka seemed to fall and balance himself of Alex’s shoulder. Being a bit shorter than Ruka, it was hard to keep upright. He helped Ruka balance out with worried eyes. He shook his head. ”What did I tell you? You need rest,” he said, his grip still on Ruka. He led him to sit before Ruka asked him a question about him practicing. He smiled softly. ”Oh alright, I don’t see why not,” he said as he walked over to change it once again.

Ruka couldn't help but notice that Alex' cheeks reddened a little bit when he did his happy dance, and it was... cute. He was pretty sure he would have to talk to Donny about Alex; he would probably know why he was being so weird around this boy.
Only seconds later did his ankle give out, and Alex had a tight grip on him to make sure he was steady as he led him over to sit down at the edge of the room. "You were right," he admitted with a little smile, wrapping a hand around his pulsing ankle as he had pulled his knees up against his chest. He looked up at Alex, blinking apologetically but with a bright grin on his face when the other boy agreed to let him watch him practicing some more.
Ruka leaned back against the wall as he watched Alex move over to change around his music again, and he couldn't help a smile spreading across his face. "I'll be your personal cheerleader," he promised, putting his hands together in a slow clap before falling silent; he knew that there was a lot of concentration involved in practicing dance routines and he didn't want to distract Alex with anything, so he just settled in comfortably, eyes glistening excitedly as he waited for Alex to begin.

Pas De Deux
Alex looked back at Ruka to see him looking at him. Was his face that noticeable? He focused on the floor and bit his lip. Come on, it wasn’t supposed to be noticeable.
He shook his head with a smile. After Alex helped Ruka to a sitting position, he kneeled down to look at the swelling ankle. ”Yeah no shit Sherlock. Never do that again,” he said with a small smile but he really meant that sentence. He didn’t know what was happening today, but he was really happy. He smiled big when Ruka said he would be his cheerleader. His face was tinted pink. ”At least it won’t do anything to your ankle.” he said. He turned on the music. This song played earlier before, but he had a routine to it, so it was good to practice. Again, Pas De Deux is meant for two people, but he just did it with one, it worked just as well. He got set up as the music started. He forgot that Ruka was in the room and just listened to the music, finding where the moves went to the music. This song was meant to be happy, but it was sad for Alex at the same time. He calmly placed the moves in the correct spots. As the song began to accelerate, he stretched himself to the max as he felt every muscle in his body hurting. He was smiling as he did so though. As he finished and the music changed, he collapsed to the floor, exhausted, but he smiled at Ruka. ”Ta-da!” he said quietly, out of breath.

Ruka could read the worry in Alex' eyes, so without any more cheek or teasing, he nodded when the other boy told him to never do anything like that again. "No more straining myself while injured," he promised with a little smile, giving Alex another reassuring nod before letting him get ready for his dance.
Only a bit later the same hauntingly beautiful music from the beginning filled the room again, and Ruka couldn't help but feel his chest warming up from within as he listened to it.
His eyes were drawn on Alex the whole time; every step, every strech, every turn. He was pretty sure his mouth was agape but he couldn't bring himself to close it as he silently watched Alex dance.
There was such a grace to it that he had never seen, a kind of beauty that had been foreign to him up until now, and once Alex stopped and took his bow, Ruka wanted to break into wild applause, but he only sound he managed to make was a quiet Wow.
He took a deep breath and slid himself up along the wall, until he was standing again, eyes wide as he looked at Alex. "You were beautiful," he said solemnly, taking just a second before realising what exactly he had just said. "I mean that was beautiful, the dance! I mean, you too of course, but that wasn't what..." He stopped himself before he could ramble even more, looked down at the floor with heated cheeks and then back up again with a sheepish smile. "Thank you," he said calmly, taking a deep breath to steady himself. "For letting me stay to watch. That was really amazing!"
