Kaylee watched her pocket watch strike 4:30 and sighed. Of course she was late. She was a-
Kaylee bit her tongue. She had had a conversation with Lucian about stereotypes and she loathed herself for it. But Maxwell was a Gryffindor. Carefree. Extroverted. And in this case, late. She was supposed to be at the Hall at 4:15, so they could talk for a while then go to dinner. But she was late. Kaylee sighed again and fiddled with her sleeve. I wonder what she even does to forget these events. Kaylee glared at the floor, imagining Max’s face. Her day had been okay, no new friends because she had spent the day in isolation in classes and at the library because she had a test last class. She couldn’t risk any distractions, and the self-grading paper the teacher had enchanted had given her a %98. It was good enough for the time being, but Kaylee was a little upset as she had missed a question she thought she knew.

It doesn’t matter what you get it matters what you miss,”,

Kaylee huffed at her father’s voice in her head. She had been raised this way, with stern, commanding words instead of helpful suggestions. She never liked her family anyways, and was ecstatic to be at Hogwarts. She was snapped back to reality as she heard someone come bursting into the Hall.
“Took you long enough, Max”, Kaylee snapped.

“Sorry sorry! I was running late! I had a run in with some Hufflepuff’s that needed help getting to charms!”
That was partly true, I had really over slept and forgot about the meeting, but I did help the girls. Kaylee had been really on edge lately. I don’t really know why. We where going to meet at the small hall to talk about something, thought I didn’t know why. I grabbed Kaylee’s hand and ran off with her in tow to the small hall. The small hall was like the great hall with its weather ceilings and floating candles, but it was smaller. We found a spot to sit. I took out a small pastry one of the house elves gave me. I looked at Kaylee.
“Hey! Have you met the nice lady that lives in the field painting? She’s amazing!”
Kaylee gave me a weird look,
“Ohhh right. You wouldn’t know here, she is by the Gryffindor common room. But she is really nice. I should take you to meet here one time!!”
Kaylee nodded absentmindedly something was clearly bothering her but I couldn’t tell what it was, was it family issues? I didn’t know.
“So what did you want to talk with me about?”

Woo! let's do this!

“Nothing in particular, really,”, Kaylee shrugged.
In fact, everything bothered her. She was always angry at something, whether it be the way one of her teachers misspelled a word or the way a bee tapped on her window. Any slight annoyance was a big pest in her world. And she wasn’t sure why. Well.. it may be...
“My mother sent me an owl. She was saying she was content I was in Ravenclaw, but she was giving hints of something else. Like I didn’t deserve to be in Ravenclaw. As an example, “Sometimes I wonder why the Sorting Hat puts people in places where they don’t match. and I think you’ll be fine in Ravenclaw. But I mean it’s not that big of a deal, that and the little things are just getting at me. Like the way your robe is slightly to the left. Or that Hufflepuff has his right shoe untied,”, Kaylee explained.
Her mother had no right to be so rude. She was her child, and Kaylee was trying her best. But life had always been like that for Kaylee, so she just had to suck it up and try even harder, to the breaking point in necessary.
