The chatter of the other students slowly faded away as they left the Great Hall. Many of them had finished their dinner and were going back to their common rooms for the night. Some people stuck around, laughing loudly with their friends, clearly having a great time. However, Samantha didn't notice any of it. Her full attention was on the red and blue strands of yarn in her hands. Off to the side stood her plate, now containing cold food, lonely and forgotten. It had been a while since she had made a friendship bracelet and it took all her focus not to make any mistakes.
Before starting her friendship bracelet, she had put her hair in a ponytail but somehow a piece of hair had managed to escape and was now hanging in front of her eyes. With a sigh, she tucked the hair behind her ear and continued on her friendship bracelet. This one was for Elsian and the first one she had made. She needed to make many more and wanted to be done with them as fast as possible. The friendship bracelets were a nice gesture and Samantha hoped they would cheer her friends up as they would be paired with bad news. It was the first day after the easter break, during which the fourth year had decided to move with her mom.
To France.
It meant that she wouldn't go to Hogwarts anymore, a place that had become her second home. It was the place she learned all about magic and a whole new world had opened up for her. Over the years, she had made many memories and friends at the school. She would miss it. Of course, she would. But she knew it was time to move on. Her sister would go to university next year and her dad had moved out after the divorce. During summer Samantha had learned that her dad had cheated on her mom, ruining the great image she had of her dad. Her mom had given him a second chance but their relationship was too broken to be saved. Her parents had given her the choice to stay at Hogwarts and her dad or move to France with her mom and go to school there.
None of her friends knew yet, so she was planning on telling it to them this weekend. She would give them the friendship bracelet to remind them that she would never forget them. Even if she lived in another country. Right now she was just focused on her work, many pieces of yarn laying around her for the future bracelets. She was sitting alone at the table but wouldn't mind if anyone joined. Maybe they could even help her make the friendship bracelets!
TLDR
ReducioDuring the last break Samantha decided to move with her mom to France, meaning she will leave Hogwarts. She plans to tell her friends this weekend and is currently making friendship bracelets for them at the Ravenclaw table. It is a little after normal dinner time and Samantha is completely focused on the bracelet she is making, forgetting to eat her food.

Friendship Bracelets before France
Emily was having a difficult day on April 8th. It was a Monday and therefore classes. She was having difficulty in Potions class and that made her nervous. What if they held her back for not keeping her Potions grade up and failing the class? Her parents would not be happy and she would probably be grounded all of the summer.Emily sighed as she walked into the Great Hall. She was late for dinner and wasn't really hungry anyway. She just needed to release and calm down. Relax. That's why when she saw a girl making bracelets she decides to walk over. Even if it was the Ravenclaw table. "May I join?" Emily asked and sat down before the girl could answer. Emily reached for some thread. "I'm Emily. A pureblood Slytherin. Who are these for?" she asked and started to make another one from the red and blue threads that were sitting aside. Emily had never made friendship bracelets. She had made regular bracelets but it had been awhile since she had. She didn't really have many friends to make friendship bracelets for. Emily wanted to make more but being a werewolf made her wary of who her friends were.

With her tongue peeking out of her mouth, showing her extreme focus on her project, Samantha continued making her friendship bracelet. In her mind, she went over the steps. The left over the right, then under it and through the loop. Repeat. Halfway through the second time, the brunette noticed somebody standing near her spot. Surprised, she looked up. Samantha had a second to take a look at the other girl before she spoke. Her dark brown eyes matched her brown hair, and she seemed quite mature. Maybe the other student was a third or second year, Samantha wondered. However, she knew most of the third years and hadn't seen this girl around Hogwarts before, or at least not that she could remember.
As she concluded that the younger student must be a second year student, the girl spoke up. She had asked if it was allowed to join but sat down before Samantha could have even answered. The fourth year did not consider many things rude, but this was very close to crossing the line. She would have allowed the girl to join, so maybe it wasn't such a big deal. Instead of making a big deal out of it, Samantha gave the other girl a smile. "Of course, feel free to join!" she replied. Before she had finished, the other girl was already reaching out for some thread. Interesting.
It seemed like the girl thought she owned the world, or at least had the right to do whatever she pleased. Of course, first impressions aren't always right. Elsian, the person who she was making the friendship bracelet for, was living proof of that. When Emily introduced herself, a soft smile was present on Samantha's face, only for it to slightly fade away when the word pureblood was spoken. In her years at Hogwarts, she had come across multiple people who found their blood status worth mentioning during an introduction, and most of them cared way too much about it. If the topic came up naturally it was different. It had happened before that Samantha had talked about being muggle-born, as the muggle world was really different from the magical one. Sometimes she had bonded over the shared culture with other students who had muggle parents. But never had she mentioned it in her introduction, as she considered it unimportant at that time.
"I am Samantha," she started, an idea popping into her mind. Since the other girl seemed to enjoy sharing unimportant and useless information, she should do the same. "I am a part Dutch, part English, part French, brown-haired and blue-eyed Ravenclaw," she added in a slightly passive-aggressive tone. The tone wasn't too obvious, but anyone who paid attention could assume she wasn't just saying it for fun. During her time at Hogwarts, Samantha learned the world wasn't the happy and amazing place she considered it to be when she first arrived at the magical school.
"I am making this bracelet for a friend," she added reluctantly. It seemed rude not to answer the other's question but she wasn't too happy about it either.

As Emily made one of the bracelets she noticed two things. One the girl seemed slightly irritated at Emily already. One goal down for Emily. And two she seemed to not like the status introduction. Which didn't surprise Emily. Many muggle horns or half bloods didn't so Emily decided to guess. Samantha (that's what she said her name was anywat) wasn't using magic to help with these. If that does not scream muggleborn she did not know what did. Emily concluded that Samantha was indeed a muggleborn. Now she just needed to pick up more information to figure out if this was true.
Emily listened to Samanthas very long and unimportant introduction. Emily had a slight smirk on her face as she answered. "Very nice. I'm English. Well part-English. I don't really know what my mother is. I find it unimportant." Emily shrugged and continued to make a bracelet differently then what Samantha was doing it. Emily was doing hers as a three strand bracelet and Samantha...Emily had no clue what kind she was doing.
She tilted her head to show she was listening when Samantha, reluctantly, said it was for a friend. "Cool. What year are you in?" she asked in a slightly cold voice.

That particular dinner time, Madeleine and her best friend Cassanora were eating at the Ravenclaw table. No particular reason, it's just that when the other schools (like Beauxbatons) came to visit Hogwarts, they were usually comingled with all of the students. That meant different seats every night, and although they often went with the Hufflepuff table, now there was reason to choose the Ravenclaw table too. Cassanora excused herself, but Maddie stuck around to have a bit of dessert first.Interacting: @Samantha Salwis and @Emily Ramirez

As she was eating her dessert, her eyes wandered over to a brunette girl a few seats down and across Samantha Salwis. The girl was making a friendship bracelet. It had been a really long time since Madeleine had made one of those, but there was a time she was a big fan. Did she remember how to make them? A thought crossed her mind that maybe Koko might like one.
When she noticed a younger looking girl join the first one, Maddie took that as a sign that maybe she would be open to company. Though it didn't exactly look like she had the crafts to support many people. Considering her own company had left, Maddie took her bowl of fruit and slid down a couple seats until she was across from the original bracelet-maker.
"Hello," she greeted with a small smile, her brown eyes focused on the blue-eyed girl. "Do you have room for one more? I saw her join you, so is this an open activity?" The "her" being the much younger looking girl in the group, whom she briefly looked at as she talked. "I'm Madeleine, but you can call me Maddie," she introduced to them both, her eyes returning to the main girl. It would be obvious to both of them that she was a Beauxbatons student considering she was still wearing her school uniform due to having classes earlier that day. Maybe they'd even notice her French accent, but there were a ton of accents around with all the schools visiting.
Madeleine is a Charmer. You are just distracting. Distracting to look at perhaps. Maybe it is your wit or your charm, your grace or something else about you that is intangible but absolutely present.
Madeleine is a Lovely Creature. You are so incredibly beautiful, it is hard to take ones eyes off of you.

Elizabeth was studying. Or she was not.
Normally, you could find Elizabeth somewhere in any unrestricted part of the castle, stuck in a book, studying. That didn't mean that she was really studying though because she could be thinking of pranks to do.
Right now, what was she doing? Making people think that she was studying but in reality, she was actually thinking of pranks.
Hm...I could run up and make a fake letter from a fake person telling them about some hilarious thing that went on last week. My Mama and Papa did write about a circus last week. Ooh! Yes! I can even have a letter from a random French kid from Beauxbaton saying what wonderful things they saw recently and what a pity they aren't there with them! Yes! I'll do that soon. She thought but saw some other kids talking to each other. Well...I'll delay that for a bit.
Walking over, she perched carefully on the table near the small cluster of students. Wow! The girl with the friendship-bracelets is awesome! I just have to write to Zabe asking her AGAIN to send instructions for making a friendship bracelet. Why did I forget? Ugh! She thought and slid off, preparing to leave the Great Hall.

Samantha had a hard time reading the smirk on the younger girl's face. It was unclear to her if Emily had understood the point she was trying to make, or considered her weird. Regardless of her opinion of Samantha, Emily shared she was also part English. At first, Samantha had considered herself superior, as she had believed the other girl was fully English. It was silly. Usually, she didn't care about things like this. However, she loathed the similarity. It connected them, while Samantha didn't really want to be associated with Emily. "You don't care about your nationality but you do care about how pure your blood is?" she replied, making air quotation marks around the word pure. She had stopped making her bracelet when Emily had introduced herself but now continued working on it again.
Her decision to give Emily another chance and share who she was making the friendship bracelet for led to another question. "I am a fourth year," she answered. Her tone was only a little warmer than the cold tone in Emily's voice. It seemed like they both weren't each other's biggest fans. "What about you? Second year?" she asked, basing her reply on her previous assumption. Samantha was pretty sure she was right, but just to be completely sure and to show her superiority she added: " Or a little first year?"
It was a big relief for Samantha when she noticed someone else joining them. A girl in a Beauxbatons uniform was now sitting next to her, in a previously empty place. Samantha was sure she had never spoken to or seen this student before. When she noticed the great posture of the girl, she quickly fixed her own. Next to the grace of the other, Samantha looked like a bag of potatoes. A light blush appeared on her cheeks with this realisation. "Hi," she replied softly, distracted by the girl. There was something charming about her that Samantha couldn't put her finger on.
"Yes, of course! You are welcome to join," Samantha replied eagerly. It would be great to have another student join them. Otherwise, she would be stuck with Emily. This new girl seemed way nicer than Emily. She had the decency to ask if it was okay to join, instead of just sitting down and start making a bracelet. "Nice to meet you," she said with a big smile, as she made a mental note of the girl's name. "I am Samantha," she introduced herself. "I assume you are from Beauxbatons?" With those words, her eyes moved to the girl's uniform before returning to look into Maddie's eyes again. Her tone was open, inviting the other girl to share more about herself. It was quite a contrast to the way she had talked to Emily just seconds before.
"I have more things in my bag if you want to use different colours or something," she shared before reaching down to open her bag. Not wanting to take up too much space, Samantha hadn't taken everything out of her bag. Since she was alone, it hadn't been necessary anyway. However, now that the other two had joined her, more options sounded like a great idea. "Here you go," she said, placing extra colours of yarn on the table. Feel free to claim whatever colour you want is in there. "I am making this bracelet for one of my closest friends," she explained, showing the red and blue bracelet to Madeleine. Emily had already had a chance to see the bracelet, so Samantha didn't put in any effort to show her again. Her body language indicated that she didn't want to talk to Emily, as her back was turned to the younger girl. Pointing at the red yarn, the brunette started talking again. "My friend is a Gryffindor, so the red one is for him. The blue is for Ravenclaw since that is my house," she shared proudly. The bracelet was looking a bit sloppy, some stitches loser than others. Still, Samantha grinned widely, showing how proud she was of her creation.
After Samantha had shown her bracelet, another girl passed by. It seemed that the young girl was trying to figure out what they were doing. Samantha smiled softly at the girl, unsure if the other student wanted to join them. "Hi! You are welcome to join if you want," she said to the girl. In case the other girl was just passing, Samantha wouldn't mind. There were already a million questions popping up in her mind to ask Maddie. This girl went to Beauxbatons, the school she would go to next year. It was the perfect opportunity to get to know more about her future school and already make a friend before she had even arrived there.
It was important to make a good impression on Maddie since they might cross paths more often in the future. It would be helpful to already know somebody at Beauxbatons. Maybe Madeleine could show her around the French school and help her settle in. Bursting with curiosity, she tried to order all the questions she wanted to ask in her mind. "What is your favourite thing about Beauxbatons? Do you think there are many differences between it and Hogwarts? Or what do you think the biggest difference is? The main language spoken at Beauxbatons is French, right? However, I did hear there are some smaller classes given in other languages. Is that true?" she fired the questions at the other student. Remembering to take it easy, Samantha took a breath, allowing the other to actually answer.

"Oh thanks for the invitation! I've made friendship bracelets before so I can recognize one when I see one. I just forgot how to make one. My friend Zabe who goes to Beauxbaton taught me. She's visiting next week." Elizabeth said and reperched herself on the table, watching in quiet fascination the work in progress.
"Have you ever been to France? I've been before to visit my grandparents. Zabe invited me to visit next year during the Christmas holidays," She said, grinning ear to ear in anticipation, eager to visit already, "Do you know anybody there? I heard that they went sightseeing in a village and countryside nearby. I can show you some pictures when she sends them if you'd like." She said, hoping that that was the right thing to say.
"Oh gosh, I'm talking too much aren't I? I don't really talk that much but, I'll let y'all have a turn talking. Sorry about that." She said sheepishly and glanced down. Why am I suddenly talking to much? I never do at home so why am I doing it now? I don't know. She thought and waited, quietly, watching the friendship bracelet being made. Why was she suddenly talkative?

"It's nice to meet you too, Samantha," Maddie said, smiling pleasantly at the Ravenclaw girl. "And yes, Beauxbatons," she confirmed. "I'm a fifth-year there. I presume you're both Hogwarts?"Interacting: @Samantha Salwis, @Emily Ramirez and @Elizabeth Stonewall

When Samantha went into her bag looking for more colors, Maddie's eyes lit up a bit. The idea of being able to personalize the bracelet was an enticing one. Maybe a rich Slytherin green and a soft Beauxbatons blue?
"Thank you," she said, offering another smile as more yarn was placed in the space between them. She searched and easily found some colors that most matched what she was picturing. As she unraveled the yarn to get enough for the bracelet, she was able to multitask and look at the piece Samantha was showing off, too. "It looks good!" she complimented, and she meant it. Even if it wasn't perfect, a lot of effort had clearly gone into it, and that's what mattered most with friendship bracelets. Crafting was one of the few times Maddie's perfectionism didn't kick into high gear. With spells and dance? Perfection meant everything. But she had learned that crafting was an entirely different monster - one that required a bit less perfectionism in favor of just having some fun... But at her core, Madeleine was still a perfectionist. She would definitely try to make a very neat bracelet this time around - especially considering it was for Koko.
As Samantha explained her color choice, Maddie's grin grew realizing that they were on the same page. "I'm thinking of making this one for my friend in Slytherin," she explained, imagining that her color choices would now make sense to the younger girl. "Seems great minds do think alike," she said with a soft giggle. Her brown eyes traveled very briefly to the other girl Emily Ramirez. It seemed like Samantha was not a fan of her - at least, that's how she was reading the body language. And since she hadn't spoken up yet, Maddie would just continue conversing with Samantha for now.
Before the French girl could ask a followup question about Samantha's friend, another new face popped up Elizabeth Stonewall. Samantha invited her to join and the young girl immediately launched into a talk about her friend who goes to Beauxbatons. Her enthusiasm was a lot for Madeleine, but she seemed kind and eager to chat. "I am a Beauxbatons student, my name's Maddie," she introduced. The girl seemed very excited about her friend Zabe, whom Maddie could only presume was a younger year student since she'd never heard of them. "Sorry, but I think we missed your name?"
Then it was Samantha's turn to ask a flurry of questions, all centered around Beauxbatons. Madeleine was no stranger to being quizzed on this topic, especially considering Hogwarts students had never seen the other schools. She didn't mind sharing, though, because she really loved he school. "Well with Beauxbatons, it's just a completely different vibe than here. It's - well - prettier. A bit more modern architectural design and more bright than the castle here. Not that there's anything wrong with a more old school castle, it's just - different. My favorite part is probably the gardens - my friends and I eat and hangout in the gardens all the time. It'd be nice if we could host a visit sometime, I'd love to show it off to other schools," she shared, as she started braiding her friendship bracelet. It had been a little bit since she'd made her last bracelet, but the motions and the pattern were almost second nature. She just had to go a bit slowly at first to build a solid base. "If you do ever visit, I'd be happy to show you around," she added, raising her brown eyes to meet Samantha's briefly with another smile. Then her gaze went back to the bracelet.
"French is definitely the primary language, but I've heard a few classes may be taught in Spanish or maybe Italian if anyone's studying them? But I haven't attended any of those. My own language is French, but I - well, I obviously know English, too - and Japanese. My parents grew up in Japan, but I grew up in France," she explained, comfortable sharing more about herself as they settled into crafting together. "How about you guys? Do you speak any other languages?" she asked, her eyes raising again to make it clear she was addressing anyone who wanted to answer.

"Oh yeah, sorry about that. My name's Elizabeth but you can call me whatever nickname you want to." Elizabeth said and carefully picked up the pink and blue colors. She slowly concentrated on remembering the pattern for a few minutes before a question caught her ear.
Pausing, she said, "I speak some French and some Irish, not much though. I only know some because some relatives are in France and Ireland." Then she did a little more on the bracelet before continuing, "Is it true that sometimes you guys go on walks around the school? Or do you just stay within the school grounds?"
She had not been seeing what she had been doing and as she glanced down, she immediately glanced up. This was a design that she had never done on a friendship bracelet, she could recognize that much.
"Have you ever made a friendship bracelet with your eyes closed and behind your back? My friend said she could and that it takes a bit to master." She said as she worked. "Perhaps it's only for some people...or it's what she said, it needs practice."
She planned on making one for some friends here at Hogwarts as well as Zabe but for now, she could hardly resist the flow of the yarn as she worked, falling back into the pattern as she first had when she had first learned.
