"Ha, ha! Is the little halfblood gonna cry!?"
"Look at her! She dosen't belong here! With her mudblood half!"
I started to run, tears streaked down my face,
"Ha! Look at that! A scared Gryffindor! Might as well call her the cowardly lion!"
"Ha! Good one!"
I ran as fast as my legs would allow, I ran to the only place I could find quiet, the abandoned toilets.
I hate them, I hate them, I hate THEM, I HATE THEM!
I ran into the bathroom, the floors we cracked and and caked with some dirt. The walls where dirty and wall paper was peeling but I didn't care. I hated those boys. I hated them so much, just because they were pure bloods doesn't mean they have the right to make fun of me for being a half blood! I curled into a ball and hugged my knees. Fat, salty tears rolled down my cheeks. I buried my face in my robes. My tears made the deep maroon on my robes turn even darker. I cried and cried and cried. I wish my mom and dad where here. Everything would have been fine. They would have wrapped me in a blanket, gotten me some tea and we would sit together, mom would probably sing Soldier, Poet, King, and everything would be fine. I kept crying for a bit more, then I heard someone walk in.
Woo! let's do this!

Shannon had dropped her pencil right on time. She was bending down to pick it up when she heard loud voices down the hall. Peeking around the corner Shannon noticed a group of boys ganging up on a girl, and they all seemed to be Slytherins. A frown deepened on her face, she absolutely hated bullying, but she was confused; why were they bullying someone from their own House? That never happened in Hufflepuff—well, at least she never witnessed any bullying so far. Hufflepuffs tended to stick close to each other like firm glue.
About to step in to help, Shannon wondered if maybe the girl provoked them. She didn't look mean at all, and she was crying too, which made Shannon even more upset. Fists balled, she made to step into view when she saw the girl rush into the abandoned toilets. The boys taunted for a while longer and then left, which Shannon was grateful about. They'd be unhappy to see how good she was at using her fists.
Hurrying over to the lavatory, she made sure no one else was paying attention and then pushed through the door. “Hello? Is it ok if I come in, I won't be mean to you, I swear...”
Shannon stood there silent for a moment and then asked, “Why were they doing to that to you?” She was wearing her Hufflepuff robes and had her blond hair pulled into a low ponytail. Bright pink socks could be seen inside her shoes.

“Why were they doing to that to you?”
I turned to face the girl, she had long blond hair and was in Hufflepuff.
"They were- they were- they were doing it because I'm a half blood, and because they think I'm a cowardly Gryffindor. and they're right. I'm to scared to be in Gryffindor."
I cried some more. I just wanted to be alone, but that wasn't the best idea. This girl had come in to help me and I shouldn't ignore her.
But what if she's a pure blood too? She'll just hate me like the other boys.
I looked at the girl,
"If you are a pure blood, I already know what you are going to say, so just say it already, I don't belong at the school because I'm part muggle."
I cried more, I hated the fact that pure blood families think they are so much better that muggle born families and half blood families. Its not fair! We should be treated equally too!
And I hate that horrible, horrible word mudblood. Its so mean! Why would anyone ever say that! It so..so..hateful!
But..thats just the way things are, hopefully one day it'll be different but not today. Today I'm sitting in that dirty, abandoned toilets while another girl is trying to help me. Hopefully, things will get better.

It was then that Shannon realized that the girl was actually a Gryffindor, not a Slytherin. She had an “oh” moment and paused, taking in what the girl was saying. Shannon didn't know who she was, so she couldn't judge her. Those Slytherins were really mean and she couldn't blame her for being so upset. Besides, she looked really young and it was probably so overwhelming for the girl.
That's why she said, “Actually, I'm Muggle-Born—both of my parents are non-magic. But all of my siblings are wizards and witches, they all go here, they're all Gryffindors like you!” She grinned, hoping that a smile would brighten the girl up.
“So yeah, I'm all Muggle, I guess. But I'm not afraid, and you shouldn't be either. When people say something to me, anything, I tell them right where they can put their mouthes, because I'm a person just like anyone else.” It was true. Shannon didn't like being treating other people different just because of who they were. It was wrong and she wouldn't want to be treated like that, so why would she treat her like that?
She came closer to the girl, placing a hand on her shoulder. Her own lip began to tremble; when other people cried it made her cry. “Don't cry... it'll be okay, I'll help you...” She wiped her own eyes; she really would help this girl, or anyone.
